Sunny Hills Pediatric Dentistry

Fantastic experience: Came here through a referral from one of the other moms at my daughter's school and was so glad I did! My daughter had a small cavity that two other dentist offices said needed to be filled, but after coming here, they let me know there was another solution they could try to avoid the traumatic filling of the cavity and that it was a tooth that would fall out in the next year. They were right! The cavity was kept small and the tooth eventually fell out. So happy!

Negative experience: I took my child to this dental office, and what happened there was extremely upsetting. My child was actually excited to go to the dentist and wasn’t scared at all — until we walked into this clinic. One of nurse laid my child down, She used floss roughly, not caring whether it caused bleeding, and brushed my child’s teeth while my child was crying. There was no effort to comfort or calm them at all. and my child’s lips were cracked and even bled during the process, and instead of being gentle, the assistant just tried to apply Vaseline quickly so she could continue. Watching my child cry in fear and pain was heartbreaking. My child, who walked in happily, now becomes scared and anxious even hearing the word “dentist.” This experience left a lasting trauma for both of us.

Fantastic experience: We are so grateful for Sunny Hills Pediatric Dentistry! They made room to see my son immediately for his tooth emergency and gave him the best chance of keeping that tooth. Joanna, who took my calls, was fabulous and the team was all around so warm and supportive, especially as my son had to undergo such an unexpected procedure. Definitely recommend them for your pediatric dentistry needs!

Fantastic experience: We have been to this dentist office a couple times now since reading Yelp reviews. With 2 toddlers and their usual fear of doctors/dentists, the staff are amazing and handle them really well. Our last visit, my 4 1/2 year old was able to get her teeth check/cleaning while I held the 2 year old for her teeth check/cleaning. That in itself was a BIG deal. The tech had a gentle voice and was very patient. She listened to my daughter when she wanted a little break and explained things thoroughly so my daughter knew each step and what was happening. Now, with Covid, the staff takes extra precautions on insuring the health and safety of their patients and staff. I would highly recommend them to anyone. If they accepted adults, I would be the first in line. Thanks Sunny Hills!

Negative experience: Front desk is terrible. I've had better service from automated phone systems. They won't validate parking over an hour so hope your appointment starts on time or you have to pay, and no close free parking. Dr park is nice but other dentist have pretty poor bedside manner for a pediatric dentist

Negative experience: My son had a filling fall out a year after it was done here. We brought him in and our insurance didn’t cover it because it was within 2 years of being done. This office would not in good faith cover their own work, so we had to pay completely out of pocket to get it redone. The dentist even said she wasn’t sure why it fell out, but had no problem charging us full price to redo the work. Hopefully this filling is done properly and stays put while we are looking for a new dentist.

Fantastic experience: I have been taking my children with Dr. Park since they were toddlers. One is a High school senior and the other is middle schooler now. My children have always loved going with Dr. Park, he is an amazing dentist, very professional, knows his works well and makes the kids feel comfortable whenever we visit. He gives them great advise to take care of their dental health. My kids have healthy teeth and a beautiful smile thanks to the work that Dr. Park has done all of this time. The office staff has always been kind, professional and always welcoming. The office and work area is super clean, they always have movies for the kids and they let the kids choose what movie they want to watch if needed. SunnyHills Pediatric Dentistry feels like family because the people that work here make us feel this way. I appreciate Dr. Park all of his attention to my questions and all the recommendations he will give us to keep my children dental at its best. I will recommend Dr. Park and his staff for the care of children dental health.

Fantastic experience: Took my son in for his 1st dental visit & he loved the office & loved both of his dentists. He was crying the day before and the morning of his appt bc he was scared of going so we were pretty nervous for how our visit was going to go. Fortunately, the staff was amazing & welcoming & made my son’s 1st visit a great one.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Park is great with my child. He is patient and really meets her where she's at. He follows her lead when it comes to the teeth cleaning and taking x-rays. We had a few treatments of silver diamine fluoride to prevent cavities from getting larger and he has done a thorough job. I highly recommend Dr Park for pediatric dentistry.

Negative experience: I don't like leaving bad reviews, but our experience today after having other bad experiences here I think warrants this review. It's a lot of small instances that add up to show that the practice isn't run that well. The first appt went well with my first son and everyone was friendly, so we decided to then ask if they took autistic patients to see if they would treat my other son who is autistic. They said they did, and I was like great! But I just assumed if they said that they took autistic patients, that they would make some kind of accommodation for them like be more patient with them or skipping some of the more sensory-overloading procedures. But parents with autistic kids or any kind of special needs child, please do not go here!! I actually think this office will be relieved not to treat another kid with special needs - just say you don't take them if you do not have experience treating special needs children. They treated my autistic son like a NT child, and I could feel them getting frustrated when my non-verbal son couldn't follow the hygienist's' instructions quickly enough. They just did the cleaning as quickly as possible even when I asked if we could take a break as my child was scream crying. The way my son was clinging onto me (for dear life) after that appointment was something I had never experienced before or since. I switched him to a new dentist, and now I need to find a different dentist for my other son after today's appt. Today's appointment was not horrific in the slightest, but rather it was a lot of small infractions that really display their lack of care. In the past, the hygienist would take care to explain what was happening during the appt, especially during the xray, but not today. Today the hygienist told my son to open wide, and tried shoving that plastic monstrosity in the back of his mouth to get the molars xray. My son is 5, he doesn't remember what to do at the dentist, and all of sudden, without any explanation or warning, this lady is trying to shove a giant piece of plastic down his throat. He has a really bad gag reflex that had developed in the past few months which I tried telling the hygienist politely, but she didn't acknowledge me at all. She then just tried shoving the plastic back in him mouth, and only stopped when he started gagging badly and tearing up. I then again said he has a really bad gag reflex to which she again said nothing to me, had her back to me the entire time. I asked if they had something he could throw up in because he looked like he was on the brink, but again she did not even acknowledge my presence. She silently took his front teeth xrays, and moved us to the cleaning area. I know this is minor, but I the hygienist had her hair down the whole appointment. Her butt length hair was not tied up, just flowing everywhere - even during my son's cleaning she didn't put up her hair! It was falling on him - not a lot, but strands. It just feels very unsanitary. But the dentist herself didn't say anything to the hygienist about putting up her hair, so I didn't feel like it was my place. During the cleaning the hygienist again didn't speak a word to me or face me or tell what procedure she was going to do. The only words she said to my son were "open up" "wider" "good job" when usually we get some type of, "Hey we're going to start cleaning your teeth with this now" or "This thing my look scary but it just shoots out water to help me clean your teeth." Again, my son is 5, still scared of the dentist. She didn't take any effort to reassure him at all. This is another minor thing, but at the end of his appointment he didn't get to go into the treat/toy drawer when I saw several other children going to that drawer after their appointment. I even saw other children getting balloons! The last thing that rubbed me the wrong way was that the hygienist, dentist, and even the receptionist were almost scolding me for not forcing my kid to get his back morals x-rayed. It just didn't work out this appointment - sorry you couldn't bill my insurance I guess?

Doctor Park is very pleasant and my son has never said I don’t want to go to the dentist. Even the time when he had a cavity Dr park seamlessly took care of it. Positive experience: The dentist and the front office were both good for the exception of the hygienist. She was a bit rough on my child during the cleaning as well as condescending about the need to brush more. These are children and not adults.

Fantastic experience: Great pediatric dentists in Fullerton! Dr. Trinh and the staff who have worked on my children are very gentle and have put them at ease. They enjoy being able to watch a movie while getting their teeth cleaned and examined and I love that they explain what is happening during different procedures in kid friendly language. My son just recently went in to get a tooth extracted and it was a comfortable experience despite his feelings of nervousness coming into the situation. They also like that they are able to choose a prize and balloon animal prior to checking out. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: My daughter been a patient since she was 3yrs old she is now 6 yrs old when I tell her we are going to see the dentist that she gets all excited from the front office staff to the tech and Dr.Park and Dr. Trinh they are very warm and lively .

Negative experience: My wife brought our daughter here as It was recommended to us the office and staff where super friendly with the exception of one assistant Liza had to ask for her name she was extremely rude and was obviously having a bad day not only around our daughter but to other staff very unprofessional for my daughter to have witnessed something like that when you teach them that bullying is not ok we will not be returning to this office as that was unacceptable.

Fantastic experience: UPDATE 2023: Our son has severe, non-speaking Autism, making appointments very, very, very difficult. Dr. Park and his staff continue being so kind, gentle, thorough, respectful, and accommodating. We could not be more pleased or grateful. And at age 6, zero cavities! 2019: What a wonderful first time experience for my son and my family. Dr. Park and his staff were so friendly and gentle, and the offices are impeccably bright, clean, modern, and cheerful. Really superb service.

The staff is always so friendly, but most important they make my kids feel happy and excited to visit the dentist. We always leave with happy faces, the staff goes out of their way to make my kids feel comfortable. The staff always makes them cute balloon creations and provide the kids with a goodie bag that includes a new toothbrush, dental floss and stickers. The facility is always clean and well organized. Highly recommend this dental pediatric office.

Fantastic experience: The dentists and dental assistants have always been so great with my 4.5 yr old kiddo! They all go out of their way to make him feel comfortable and you can tell they enjoy working with children. We’ve been there 5 times and have been seen by all 3 of the Dr.s and they are great. We had our first visit with Dr. Park when my son was 6 months old to check out an eruption hematoma. He made us feel so at ease and like my baby was in good hands. The only negative I have seen is they don’t allow parents in the back after a certain age, I think it might be 5 years old (but check before you go) and I’ve seen that be an issue for some parents in the lobby area.

Fantastic experience: My kids have been going to Sunny Hills Dentistry since they were toddlers and now they’re in high school and junior high. We’ve always had a pleasant experience going here under Dr. Park’s care. My older daughter missed her dentist appointment during Covid and was having an issue recently. I made the first appointment I could with another dentist and it was a big mistake. They informed me my daughter had 11 cavities, needed braces, and needed surgery to take out her molars. After maxing out my insurance this year and then next year, I had to pay over $500 in copay to fix the cavities. The molars and braces would cost thousands more. I took my daughter back to Dr. Park and he found 3 things that needed to be fixed, my copay would be $10. Our family is very thankful to Dr. Park and the staff for the excellent/honest care.

Fantastic experience: It was my son’s first dentist visit and everyone here was great! He had a blast playing with the toys and animals balloons given to him. We managed to get through our appointment with minimal tears!

Fantastic experience: I am so glad I took my 6 year old son here. He is afraid of doctors and especially shots. The Staff here was able to help make sure his experience was a positive and fun experience. They were able to fix his cavities with a shot (with assistance with some gas). It all went well. I didn’t have to go in and comfort him at all. I was so thrilled. Right when he got out, he said he loves the dentist and wanted to know when he’s coming back. I can’t thank them enough for this positive experience.

Fantastic experience: Clean, well-lit office and great dental technicians who took their time and answered all my questions. She made my four-year-old daughter feel comfortable and treated her with respect. On top of that, they give out the best after visit toys—balloon animals!

Fantastic experience: The office is clean the staff is fantastic and my 6 & 8 year olds love the dentist. The office staff takes ever precaution to maintain cleanliness and right now are taking the kids back on their own. While my son who is 6 wasn’t trilled going back alone he came bouncing out happy as could be with a new balloon puppy. My daughter who has learning disability was comfortable and happy with the care she was provided. As a nurse I appreciate the environment being clean and the precautions taken to maintain social distance. I would highly recommend Sunny Hills Pediatric Dentistry!!

Positive experience: ONE STAR ⭐️ for their screening system: We have an appointment at 1015. We’re at the door at 0952 rang the bell, no response. There are people inside, there is the front desk. I am writing this review at 1028 and we are still by the door. I felt that we are just being ignored. If there is a certain restriction on how many people should be inside the waiting area, then at least somebody should come by the door and let us know. FIVE STARS ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for Dr. Park! He is amazing with my son. My son who is very shy and scared looks forward to his dental appointments because of Dr. Park and of course, the technicians. Plus, the toys and treats he gets after every appointment make it enjoyable for him.

Fantastic experience: My son had to have his teeth cleaned for the first time and they did such a great job helping him feel comfortable. Both of my boys, 5 and 7 felt so comfortable there and the dentist was really kind and helpful. They even made all the kids balloon animals! Very professional and very kid friendly.

Fantastic experience: My niece is 2 years old and I am her caregiver. I had to find a dentist for her first dental appointment. Sunny Hills Pediatric Dentistry has been awesome. They have worked with me on scheduling and have been really kind with my niece. She is afraid of doctors and the staff has been really understanding. They are very gentle and after the appointment she was given a Frozen sticker and a personalized balloon. They use a lot of COVID precautions and screening. Sunny Hills Pediatric Dentistry has been wonderful!!!
