Positive experience: I went here for a couple of years and will be moving on. Admin tasks could be tightened up, such as requesting patient info to be updated a couple days in advance of an appointment versus 45 minutes prior on the same day when I am still at work. My dental anxiety had gotten worse so we talked about nitrous oxide. Availability and price were discussed and agreed upon beforehand. What was not mentioned was when payment needed to be made. No matter what practice I attended, I have always paid anything outside of what my insurance covers at the end of my service during checkout. It was very awkward that I was literally sitting in the dental chair waiting for the cleaning to start and I was asked for a payment method to prepay for the nitrous oxide. The tank was barely turned on, I didn't feel any different except still flighty and anxious during the cleaning I tried to give this place a chance but as I said initially, I will be moving on.

Negative experience: Made an emergency appointment online at 8:30 this morning for 5pm this afternoon, received email to send my latest X-rays & a text, both said I would be contacted asap if couldn’t confirm. Show up at 5:00 & was told they don’t have any spots available but can fit me in Thursday. What is the point of scheduling an emergency visit hours away if it’s not available?? No one could let me know it’s not available when I’m in terrible pain & could have scheduled elsewhere?? Horrible business practice

Negative experience: I don’t appreciate places who scam to generate revenue. My insurance covers everything including the “x-rays” I had to pay for when in fact, it’s just a new patient fee, because current patients do not pay the price for these x-rays. The dental assistant didn’t know how to properly polish or floss my teeth, nor did Dr. Kimberly provide a proper assessment of my teeth gums prior to cleaning. Won’t be returning but the front desk ladies were nice.

Fantastic experience: Love love this place! The ladies are welcoming. The environment is always neat and feels just like home. Dr. Parker is one of the coolest people I’ve met. She’s straightforward and does not play about my teeth. Love this lady down! Definitely the best dental place in town.

Negative experience: Do NOT recommend. I scheduled an appointment as a new patient and had to call them twice to make sure my insurance was accepted there. The second time I called I was on hold 15 minutes. They finally answered and said yes, my insurance was accepted but then asked if I had a panoramic xray within the last 3-5 years. I told them I had. She told me to get that to them before my appointment, which was in a few hours, or I'd need to pay out of pocket. It would have been okay if I was made aware they needed this when I made the appointment, not a few hours before. I just decided to cancel. This office is the most dysfunctional office I've encountered. If you're a new patient thinking of making an appointment with them, I suggest you do not!!

Negative experience: I will give them 1 star because they did fulfill the refund. I went in for some work, and when you first arrive, they charge you $37 for an X-ray, which is "not covered by insurance." They then did the work, which I had to pay for upfront. I thought this was weird since I have great insurance, but sure. Mind you, this procedure was over $200. After the procedure, my card is swiped for a THIRD time. This time, for $26 for "antibacterial mouthwash." After watching a couple of other patients pay, I now believe this is a product that A.) should be covered by insurance, and B.) is pushed onto every single patient. By the end of my appointment, I was out of $300+. The procedure was one of the most traumatizing experiences of my entire life. I was basically waterboarded by my own blood and told the pain was my fault. Which sure. I don't have the best dental history. After the appointment, I felt shame, extreme pain, and like I never wanted to go to another dentist again. After the procedure, she did not check on me. I stood there; mouth filled with blood like an idiot. I had to ask her assistant where to clean my mouth out because once the procedure was done, she was GONE. After the appointment from hell, something felt off. I decided to call my insurance. Come to find out I was significantly overcharged. My insurance let me know I should have only paid about $80. I was dumbfounded. Insurance paid them for the procedure that I already paid for! I called them to find out if this was just a simple mistake. I understand, things happen. When I called, they let me know they had overcharged me and applied the amount as a credit to my account. A CREDIT?! For over $200! I let them know I did not want a credit, to which she immediately asked whether I wanted to get any work done soon. Girl no. I cancelled my upcoming appointment just because of the trauma from the last appointment. This call happened on a Monday. On Monday, she said she'd call me back and let me know what they could do, since I didn't want a credit. I never heard back from them. By Friday, I call again at 10:00AM. This time, she let me know they can write a check for the overpayment. Great! She told me she'd call me when the check was ready for pickup. They close at 3PM. I called back around 1:30PM when I hadn't heard anything. She's like we'll call you back when the check is ready to pick up. "Do you think the check will be ready by today or next week?" She replied, "Today for sure." I hang up. By 2:30, I call again. First, it was, "insurance is still being talked with." Immediately after, it was, "The check is ready for pick up." Great! I ask if someone else can pick up the check because I don't think I'll make it in time. No. It must be me. I get there at 3:01PM. I let them know, "Hey, I am in a rush since I just left my job to get here before you close." As it turns out, the check is not ready. Mind you, I left a recording session because it couldn't take more than 30 minutes. I let them know, "Hey, I am in the middle of doing a task for my job, which I left someone else to do, to pick up this check. I am in a rush." They did not care. They hand me a paper to sign. Great. I call my boyfriend to wait in my stead while I go back to work. He arrives. I tell them, "Hey, take all the time you need. I unfortunately really must leave and go back to work. Since I've signed for the check, I give my boyfriend here permission to receive it." Oh no. This is an issue, too. I still needed to "sign the check". So, I can't leave. Mind you, the dentist is helping a patient, which can take however long to finish. I was never given a time. The check FINALLY comes at 3:20PM. Of course, I do not have to sign it. I take it and finally leave. After all of this, Dr. Parker did not come out and apologize. She did not even look me in the eyes. That's what truly upset me. YOU made a mistake. At least be woman enough to own up to it. I at least received the refund, but I would NEVER recommend her to anyone. If you have gone, check your itemized bill because she probably overcharged you.

Positive experience: I do not know what is going on with the staff or what it is but I was charged 150$ for a wisdom tooth extraction and 47$ for gum cleaning when I have dental insurance and my co-pay is supposed to be 25$ and I have good dental insurance as well other then that the staff is friendly and easy to get along with

Fantastic experience: My experience with Tuscaloosa family dental has been amazing. I was nervous about my tooth extraction, but the staff was wonderful and Dr. Kimberly was patient and gentle. She took the time to explain everything to me and put my anxiety to ease. The procedure was quick and painless. Much easier than I expected. I am on day 3 of recovery with no major pain. I highly recommend Dr. Kimberly and her staff especially if you are nervous about dental work.

Negative experience: My initial encounter should have warned me but I continued on. My entire family was serviced. The Dentist and the Hygienist were nice and professional. The front office and back office have no clue what they are doing. I have been waiting to be reimbursed for nearly three months and everytime I call I'm told they don't know and are going to resubmit to my insurance. To date my insurance has not received a claim from them.

Negative experience: Nice people, that work there but nothing good I can say about the dentist, she belittles her employees even when customers are there also for some reason everything is a crown nothing on fillings she also loosened my wife’s filling in the next tooth after she was doing another crown on my wife then says she needs a crown on that one also when it needs the filling put back in she loosened when my wife mouth was was numb. I believe she is scamming some patients that come in. Also was very rough with me and my wife, never going back to that office again

Negative experience: This place tries to shame you in unnecessary cosmetic services and waterboarded you while you’re getting your teeth cleaned. I’ve never hurt after a cleaning but I did here. Go anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: I’m relatively new to town so this was my first visit to a dental office in Tuscaloosa. I am so glad that I found Tuscaloosa Family practice. I just came for a regular cleaning and X-ray. It was great experience. Well, as great as visiting the dentist can be lol. All staff members are very nice and welcoming. Dr. Parker is very sweet and takes the time to educate and inform you of what is going on.

Fantastic experience: Great establishment! Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of their profession. There was little to no wait time and my cleaning session took no more than an hour. This included x-rays, assessments, cleaning and laughter.

At Ttown family dental everyone feels like they are apart of the Tuscaloosa family outside the name ! I also like how she is open later on Tuesdays to accommodate people’s work schedules , love the cleanliness of the office and the staff always goes about and beyond ! The assistants are nice and very helpful!. The entire dental team is great and a pleasure to be around ! Also to add Dr Parker has up to date dental technology which is appreciated. I love this office and everything about it If i could give 10 STARS I would ! No complaints

The receptionist took care of me in a timely manner and the dentist went over and beyond with helping me with my dental crisis!!! I look like a whole new person! Negative experience: My husband and I have been patients of Tuscaloosa Dentist since 2008. We have never had any problems with it's services. This early morning (11/7/2022) My husband has done his teeth cleaning without any problems, while my appointment (supposed to be at 10:30am) was cancelled without noticing me in advance. Yesterday (10/31) they texted me a least 3 times to reminder me of my appointment this morning (11.7.2022 at 11am). So I arrived at the dentist office front desk at 10:30am getting ready to sign in like I always did every year in the past. They told me that they just cancelled my appointment without notifying me in advance. Their attitude looked like I am not welcomed anymore. I really would like to know why.

Fantastic experience: Excellent care with Dr. Parker and her staff. We had a few hiccups with intake as a new patient but the receptionist remedied it right away. Dr. Parker was able to do all do the work needed in a short time and with little pain to my girl (who was a ball of nerves). All of her work was able to be done in under half an hour! The staff and Dr. Parker were attentive, thorough, and pleasant. We’d make the drive back for what my girl says was the “best dentist ever”.
