Fantastic experience: I went to two years of misery out of the Western dental in Merced I was not aware of their procedures what they do how they do it how they explain it to you none of that was available to me I didn't know what was going on from one appointment to the next they had actually skipped appointments and had me going to an appointment that I wasn't supposed to go to cuz I still had other steps to finish. I walk into this Western dental in Atwater and the finance manager I don't know her name but she was so nice and I'm going to tell you like in 15 minutes she mapped out of plan for me that would fit my finances. I'm so happy that this was made available to me. I'm looking forward to many years with Western dental and all of you are going to Merced you need to drop that plan it ain't working I'm the third person out of my family that went there and I'm the third person that had nothing but complaints so I hope you all get what you need but I'm sticking with Western dental and Atwater thank you so much for the staff for being so kind and courteous and helpful

Negative experience: Poor service, unprofessional staff. Declined to email my husband a copy of his dental x-rays taken today and only wanted to provide printed copies of x-rays.

Negative experience: Had me waiting more than an hour and they ended up telling me they had to reschedule my appointment.

Fantastic experience: My mother Eleide, had a great experience at this western dental. Jovanna, Dr. Bains, Emily, and Joanna all made the experience 10 times better, they were all very kind and made the appointment go very smoothly.

Negative experience: I'm still waiting for the dr. To submit my claim to my insurance since October 2025. What an incompetent team. Including the rude atwater office receptionists.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Bains is caring, patient and so nice! She told me everything she was going to do and took such great care of me. The girls that work there are so friendly and helpful! I had major anxiety going in and they were so wonderful about it. I genuinely felt they cared about me from the moment I stepped in. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars , honestly.

Negative experience: Took a day off of work for there appointment only to find out they’re office is closed. Why are the scheduling people for appointments on days they aren’t even open?

Negative experience: Called to get confirmation of my husband s appointment. My husband signed paper work naming me his wife, may get information about his treatments and to call his wife if an emeregency happens. So today I was surprised when I called to get confirmation on his next appointment and the man that answered refused to give me the confirmation. He didnt even ask me my name or what my relationship was to my husband. He just said no.

Negative experience: I hate it here but it was the only dentist to take me the soonest.. I go on and hear $3500 for a tooth implant mask is there anything my insurance will cover? They say no here’s the paper work for a new tooth implant I’m signing because being told there’s no other choice between paying $1500 up front and another $1500 in four months. Then that say well if you sign and pay $175 now we can go payments. Sounds more reasonable. So I go with that option I call once I get back to work and ask what if I decide no on the implant and just want the tooth pulled? Nope you signed so you will still be charged but for your other tooth that needs to get pulled we can do a temporary and your insurance will cover it. I’m confused because I thought they wouldn’t cover anything at all! Anyway went to my appointment to get my tooth pulled and implant so be told he didn’t hit a tooth that is lodged in my gum it just looks like it in the X-ray. He did not do impressions of my teeth to fit me just said he’s going to just order 1 tooth. Like so for $3500 I get a universal? Also as he’s doing the work I hear them talking and all I hear is it’s not straight but it’s all we have so it will have to do. I’m like wait what’s not straight? I literally got no answers wish I didn’t have to go back.

Negative experience: Good service bad receptionists, suppose to call or text your appointments not just send out an email, seems a little lazy.

Negative experience: Bottom of the barrel dental,. Skip this place if you can, I can't say enough bad things about it...and the call center people, ( god knows where there at) is the WORST.

Fantastic experience: Had an amazing experience with this staff the receptionist Jovanna is so sweet and patient she looks like she tries her Best to make patients feel happy and satisfied if they have any questions, Emily the manager is so sweet as well and explained to me the treatment well, Dr Bains. Is one of the nicest doctors ive met her dental assistant aré always on the go a really hard working and beautiful staff.

Negative experience: Expect to wait a very long time. The dental hygienist did not throughly check or clean my teeth. The dr./ dentist was good though, very respectful and listened to my concerns.

Fantastic experience: The lady at the front desk (Yovana). She’s literally a rock star and looks like she’s on it. Her and the other women in the front are always running around but they made sure my mom’s treatment was well explained to start implants in October. This was something me and my mother didn’t really know about but when they explain that implants was the best option to make sure my mom gets her smile back. Fantastic experience: Emily business manager helped me get on payments to get my teeth extracted. She was such a good help along with Dr Bains my extraction procedure was extremely well explained throughout the whole time I was there.

Negative experience: Receptionists are very rude. Keeps you on hold for a while then hangs up on you. You call back , they pick up and put you on hold again without saying anything.

Negative experience: I brought my son in for an emergency appointment because they are open on Saturday. I came from a few towns over. When I got here they said they don’t see children. I gave them all the patient information and date of birth yesterday and the signs all over the building say children welcome.

Fantastic experience: There was a lil bit of a wait but they did my deep clean super fast

Negative experience: First appt was great then every appt after was not. Was canceled appt after 40 minutes of being checked in for my 3pm appt. Appt was at 2pm i got called back at 3:22pm. Paid for my fillings before they started because they want payment in advance. They weren't able to do one of the fillings so I'm due a refund. And now have to wait for a check to be mailed to me, when I paid cash and they aren't able to refund cash. Received a receipt that I paid, but nothing regarding my refund still sitting in the waiting room for proof that I will be refunded 4:30pm..UPDATE since I can't leave another review Still waiting on my 4 business day refund from April 8. I've called the office 4 times and left a voicemail. Spoke with the operator and left another message when they were closed during the week during normal business hours. Haven't received a call back. I just want my money back that I paid in advance and was told I had to wait 4 days for a check in the mail. Today is may 1st. They are just trying to pocket what I paid them! Super unprofessional and lying about 4 business days when they could've easily refunded the change the owe me! Or I could've exchanged my $100 bill and pay the correct amount so they wouldn't owe me a refund!

Negative experience: Only thing saving this place from a 1 star is the orthodontics department. Went in for a cleaning. Waited 40 minutes in lobby before I got called in. Waited another 10 for xrays and then after xrays i waited for another hour for a dentist that never showed up. I looked around the office and realized no one was their. They literally forgot about me so i just walked out. It was basically 2 hours of waiting for nothing. DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE IT'S KNOWN BY MY FRIENDS AS THE WORST DENTISTRY. Orthodontics department is better though.

Fantastic experience: Five stars plus a million stars! Beautiful spirits all through this dentist office! Started off with Emily at the front desk. She was so kind hearted towards me very helpful and I really appreciated her! Dr Bains and her assistant were Amazing funny and the chemistry is unmatched. I know I needed some serious work done but they made me feel like I was on an adventure. They kept me smiling throughout the whole process! I really enjoyed my experience! Negative experience: Horrible experience. Had some fillings done in Oct 2024. In April 2025 those same fillings started moving and they are loose. I went in to have them fixed April 2025 and the dentist who checked them stated they were not loose. My fillings are in fact loose and now I can barely eat out of fear of them coming out. I'm horrified by my experience and extremely disappointed that they are not willing to fix their poor work. I don't know how they are still operating when they clearly do not care for their clients. I would suggest not coming to this establishment as you will waste your time and leave disappointed.

Fantastic experience: I had an amazing experience with Michelle Zamora at Western Dental! From the moment I walked in, she made me feel comfortable and well taken care of. Michelle is incredibly professional, kind, and knowledgeable—she took the time to explain everything clearly and answered all of my questions with patience. Her positive attitude and genuine care made my visit stress-free and even enjoyable. If you’re looking for someone who truly cares about your dental health and treats you with respect, I highly recommend asking for Michelle. She’s a true asset to the Western Dental team!

Negative experience: Had an extraction and post put in for implant yesterday. Before the procedure I told the dentist I was allergic to ibuprofen, and codeine, he asked me what I could take, which is hydrocodone. He then decided after the procedure to tell me I am not getting anything because the company policy said he cannot prescribe opiates. HE LIED! I found out he just did not want to give me anything, his own personal reasons! NOT ETHICAL OR OK to lie to a patient. I would not have had the procedure done had I known I would have to endure the excruciating pain, I have not been able to sleep for 33 hours, with nothing but lies from the staff. Had to call multiple times just to get antibiotics prescribed. DO NOT GO TO ANY WESTERN DENTALS they treat you like you do not matter, and they DO NOT CARE!! You cannot sue them, it is arbitration only, so they can get away with abuse!!

Negative experience: The wait time is ridicules. Appointment at 10:00 an hour wait to get into the room. It seems like you might consider not booking more than one appointment at a time, that seems to be the biggest complaint. With so many complaints about wait time maybe you should try to work on the scheduling.

Negative experience: I went in for impressions and it was a very pleasant experience. Thank you. I also have a poorly made full denture.

Fantastic experience: Michelle Zamora was on it great customer service helped me understand all the procedures and cost help keep me calm during my sons check up he is 12 with autism but in no way did they let that interfere with their job they were kind and professional with him recommend 1000%

Negative experience: If I could put 0 stars I would. My appointment was set for 3pm for fillings. I was sat in the exam room alone for an hour by myself. They triple booked the same time slot with only one dentist working at the time. I understand being understaffed but at least let patients know there’s going to be AN HOUR WAIT so I could’ve had the opportunity to reschedule for a different day. Will not be returning to this dental office, very unprofessional.

Negative experience: This places is the worst I've been too!!!! They do not care about you been in there dam lobby for over 1 and half!!!! It's beyond ridiculous how long you have to wait for them to only take 20mins to do what they have to do!! Save your money and Time and go to a different dentist!!!!!

Negative experience: Showed up at appointment time waited an hour to be seen. Had to remove my piercings waited a bit longer did x-rays just to be asked to come back later or another day. Waste of time.

Fantastic experience: I’ve had an absolutely amazing experience coming here. After not visiting the dentist for four years, i was nervous about the condition of my teeth. Unfortunately, i discovered i had 14 cavities and needed two root canals. However, Dr. Bains and her team made the entire process so much easier for me. Dr. Bains has been incredibly patient and understanding throughout my treatments. Anytime i felt discomfort, she immediately reacted and took action by adding more numbing to ensure i was comfortable. Her assistant, Sulema, was also extremely helpful and attentive, making each visit smooth and stress-free. The front office staff, especially Emily, was always welcoming, outgoing, and friendly, making me feel comfortable as soon as i walked in. My experience here has been nothing but positive. The level of care, professionalism, and kindness from the entire team went above and beyond my expectations. I would 100% recommend this office to anyone in need of dental care!

Negative experience: I’ve had the worst experience since I started my braces.. They overbook, so waits can be ridiculous.. They also scheduled appointments twice and then you come and all they can say it’s oops sorry it was a mistake even when you were telling them you already had an appointment for that but they insist you don’t. For example I had 2 appointments today, one for a cleaning and the other one for orthodontist (braces) the cleaning was at 1 pm but I wasn’t seen until 2:30 making my 2 pm appt for braces delay… at 4:20 they’re trying to reschedule my braces appointment because they’re over booked.. frustrating because I requested all afternoon off from work. Mind you that this cleaning was a rescheduled appointment, I had that appointment but was not seen because they forgot to send the request to my insurance to approve 2 months before that appt

Negative experience: If I can give this location and the service a zero I would. My apt was at 1 pm. I arrived 10 mins early. Waited in the lobby till 1:40 and my name was still not called. As I made contact with the staff, I was told they were still logging my information into the system. I was finally called into the back at 2. My x-rays were taken and was told I would still have to wait another 40 mins to be seen by the dentist. Time management or appointment taking is not this office strong point. I would not recommend this office for anyone. If you do.. good luck

Negative experience: Unprofessional front desk staff, lazy incompetent. Dentist cleans the teeth,no dental hygienist. They try to sell and charge for things not needed. Scam.

Negative experience: Western Dental is listed as provider for my daughters dental insurance. Had an appointment at Merced location. We were told their doctors do not accept her insurance. I called Atwater location and was told they didn't have access to verify my daughters insurance. Hello, you call the insurance company to verify like all providers do. You don't see someone without verifying their insurance. Horrible company

Negative experience: They told me I was too early to check in and then after checking in I was still waiting 30 minutes later after my appointment time. It looked like everyone went to lunch and we were just sitting there waiting.

Negative experience: This western dental is horrible they make u come back in forth and mess up your teeth. I don't even know why this place is still open and the girls in front act like they own the plaza and really rude and they lie to u too because they told me a doctor quit the job but they still work here don't make sense don't come here find somewhere better hopefully this helps.

Negative experience: The worst dentist office. If you can, stay away. It feels like they are just scamming people out of money. First they told me I was going to need a root canal, & that was not true (second opinion). & then they said I needed the gumx tray because I was getting periodontal disease. This was also not true, unfortunately I spent $1000 on it and it was too late. If you go here, before any major decisions or work done please get a second opinion. Please!!!! I just went to a local dentist here in Atwater, and omg I will never return to western. They make me feel valued, and not dumb and gross like western dental.

Negative experience: Terrible communication. Constant repeating. Lack of follow through. My appointment was at 8:30. I arrived 8:20 did my paperwork and did my scans. I don’t see a dentist until almost 10am. Barely a conversation was had. I kept repeating to the staff the same thing. Now I have to wait 4 weeks to be serviced. They said they will send me to get medicine but didn’t do that either. Literally felt like I wasted gas and my time for no solutions.

Negative experience: Their wait time is always over an hour, and today I was exactly 10 min late to my appt and they cancelled me!!! When I asked rep Andrea why, she advised that was their rules! (Which is crazy, I’ve never heard of such thing) I’m actually always very punctual, for everything, so I was pretty upset that Dr. Bains didn’t want to take me in for being 10 minutes late yet they take hours to to see you even with appt. And they always call last minute to reschedule my appts. pretty sad!

Fantastic experience: Michelle was such a great help she answered every question I had she has an awesome great customer service loved working with her with my children’s braces she also has great knowledge and knows what she’s doing and I will refer western dental to my family and friends .

Fantastic experience: The staff are very friendly, fast service, and treat you like family. If you need anything ask for Michelle Zamora, she will take care of you and your tooth needs. Front desk receptionist was very helpful as well.

Negative experience: My appointments keep getting canceled and I have to keep rescheduling. It is 9 months and I am almost no closer to getting my dentures. I was just told today that they were only going to give me partials they weren't pulling out all my teeth. But we had discussed all the way up until today full set of dentures because of the condition of the teeth. So I do not know what is going to happen but I am not happy at all with wasting nearly 9 months because I am almost 69 years old

Negative experience: They didn’t see me twice. They were makings excuses. i waited for 5hours every times and they were mean to me after saying reschedule. We don’t have time. I got lot of disappointment

Fantastic experience: Dr.bains was very thorough and helpful in calming my nerves and very understanding. I have so many problems but for the first time in a long time I don’t feel hopeless and I feel like I’m actually going down the right treatment path. Very honest and straightforward. Nancy was also very pleasant and calming. I absolutely am terrified of the dentist so this was a nice change of pace for me.

Negative experience: This location does not deserve any stars at all. They do not care about their patients at all, they are only at work for a quick check. You can show up to your appointment on time and still have a 2 hour wait. Once you go to the chair in the back, the wait is another 45 mins for a rushed job. Everything they do is rushed, if you have concerns and ask questions they make you seem delusional and tell you to call corporate. My teeth are horrible, I still have gaps and I wanted to keep my braces on but they made me take them off. I did experience discrimination as well here! I will not recommend this place ! I will not recommend any western dental because I reported this to corporate and nothing was done about it.

Fantastic experience: I was leary about going here but workman's comp didn't give me many options. The Merced branch is garbage and the staff there are so rude. I don't know how they even stay in Business? Probably due to attrition only. Anyway, I ended up here in Atwater and I must say they have their stuff together. The staff is courteous and kind, professional and knowledgeable, and the doctor who did my filling was the most patient and attentive I've had in a very long time. I highly recommend Atwater Western Dental for all your dental needs.

Negative experience: updated review. I ended up getting tricked into ortho here. Moved to Merced and they wouldn’t transfer me nor put it into insurance for braces to be removed. Btw I became disabled through treatment live down the street from Merced Western dental. Ended up going all the way to FRESNO got approved by Denti-cal for them to be removed with no fee. They will tell you they can’t put it into Insurance. They are trying to trick you to pay full rates because Denti-cal pays reduced rates.

Negative experience: I scheduled my appointment at 8am and I’ve been sitting in this chair for 50min now. Hoping they call my name soon, I got skipped twice. I have other appointments today which is why I scheduled an early appointment. This is ridiculous. They do not have a set schedule apparently and had me pay before I even received the services. I paid to get my cavities filled and now they’re telling me that they’re only open two days a week and they canceled my appointment on me. Third time here to finally be done with this dentist office! Came to get cavities filled but I’ve been waiting now for 20min after checking in for my appointment. So thankful this will be my last time here!!!!

Fantastic experience: my visit today, i was greeted very nicely by reception, Dentist provided me with excellent service, teeth clean today was quick and not painful, took about 20min. But! why did I have to sit for 1½ before service was performed?. :/ thank you WD.

Negative experience: Today i had to pull my son out of school for a visit for his braces at 2pm as well for me taking time out of work. when we arrived 30mins early the lady tells me to come back at 2:30pm because it was still early and that my son was not going to get seen at 2pm, Due to no one took lunch in the office. This western dental is so unorganized and are not accurate with the timings they are scheduling people. I do not know how this place is still even open. I would never recommend this dentist to anyone. The manager Michelle is not at all a professional, calling peoples names out wrong and asking if that person is a boy or a girl. This western dental is always low staff and now I can see why, people here do not know how to run this office. Unprofessional Dentist, so that everyone knows when they read this comment.

Fantastic experience: The best Western dental I’ve ever been to. They are friendly understanding and explain the process which I like they do a great job.

Negative experience: The lady there that was doing my filling was very rude. Made you feel as if your doing something wrong when I wasn't comfortable throughout the process. And at one point threatened to stop and have me leave. Second appointment I had a guy doing my filling very kind and caring. Thumbs up for him. Thumbs down for the lady avoid her at all costs

Negative experience: They moved my appointment time from 4 to 1, when I came in I still had to wait over 2 hours for my son to be called back, then told they couldn't do what we had came in to do, they would only to some x-rays and told me to reschedule. Absolutely ridiculous. Would not recommend, they completely waste your time.

Negative experience: Everytime I come here I wait at least an hour and half before being called back. Everytime. It’s ridiculous. They say “I’m sorry we are short staffed”. It’s been months and it’s still the same. Don’t come here unless you want to wait 3 hours

Fantastic experience: First time at Western dental, i’m not going to lie. Western dental does not have a really good reputation, but what I saw was that everyone was very professional, nice and helpful I felt really comfortable.

Negative experience: I visited the Atwater location. I filled out a client intake form before going to this appointment twice because someone called me prior to this appointment and asked that I fill it out before my appointment. so I just redid it…whatever. When I arrived to my appointment (10 minutes earlier than scheduled) they had me refill it which isn’t that big of a deal. What really set me off was that after i filled it for a third time they had printed out a blank intake form for me me to refill. After that whole debacle I patiently waited for 45 minutes; at this point people who’ve checked in after me have come and gone. I walk up to the front desk receptionist, and she informed me that I would have to wait until she finished inputting my information into the system and there was only one dentist at that location. I was in a time crunch and asked to reschedule but I guess this location is only open two days out of the week and one Saturday out of the month. I don’t know how they are even up and running at this point. I left that appointment without even being seen… 1 hour in the waiting room and they haven’t even checked me in. I will NOT be paying for this visit! Also (this is me being judgmental and I recognize that) but the front desk receptionist had way too much makeup on and they looked like literal clowns. Which fits I guess, because they were out here clowning everyone. update since then: They just emailed me regarding an appointment I “confirmed” I never made an appointment…they just made one for me without even confirming if that time would work for me.

Fantastic experience: Hardly any wait! Vanise was amazing made me comfortable and explained what was happening as well as Dr. G. Both very polite and amazing people!

Fantastic experience: I was pretty nervous about going to the dentist again because I honestly hadn’t been in a while but the staff there is super friendly and made me feel a lot more comfortable than I was expecting. Especially Vanise and Emily at the Atwater location, they were both super helpful and compassionate which made my dentist experience a lot less nerve wreaking. I will be coming to this dentist from now on and I would recommend others here as well.

Fantastic experience: This S/O goes to Dr.G &Vanise I personally hate going to the dentist but from the very first time I went there they made me feel very comfortable they made me feel like I was there friend instead of another patient that just walk in. I love that place and the staff they are very nice people and special Dr.G &Vanise❤️❤️ much love see u guys in October✌️✌️✌️

Negative experience: Waited 2hrs and 30 minutes after I checked in to get called back. I didn’t get anything done cause I walked out. If I waited 2 hrs 30 min and nothing I can only imagine it will be another 2 hrs 30 min in the back so if you have 4+hrs in your day to spare for a dental visit this is your spot. I had high hopes with the good reviews I seen but this place is another western dental flop. Only positive is the front staff was nice.

Fantastic experience: Love the Atwater western dental. It’s well kept. The staff here are wonderful. Vanise been my assistant and she a funny person.

Negative experience: My husband had a very bad tooth ache, we called western dental, we were told the first visit is free and from there if there was any charges the will bill us, since he doesn’t have insurance we went ahead and scheduled for the same day, drive 45 miles . When we got to at water , the receptionist told us , they didn’t had any doctors . They couldn’t see us . So I called again the lady was nice sent us to Turlock drive another 25 minutes and the receptionist told us wasn’t true we had to pay at front . I told her we went there because we didn’t had money we were told we can get bill after the first free visit . She refused to see us . Drive back home an hour and half wasted time gas and my husband still in a very bad pain . Western dental are such of big layers .

Negative experience: My lawyer told me to sue the doctor who misdiagnosed me for malpractice. The doctor purposely scared me into purchasing a treatment I did not need. My lawyer said it sounds like he has been scamming people out of money for a while from what I explained to him. It’s a good thing I went for a couple of second opinions from other dentists. The other dentists looked at me crazy when I mentioned that the doctor at western dental diagnosed me with periodontal disease. The doctor there at Western Dental is a male doctor - he is young - maybe late 40’s maximum. It seems he is Punjabi from his accent. I overheard him telling most of his patients that they need the periodontal disease treatment when I went in a couple of times… it sounds like most of it is all lies. Be aware if you go there. I would not trust his word at this point. Don’t trust the staff, granted they are aware of his malpractice and are not saying anything about it to officials. The site will be closed down.

Fantastic experience: Not a long wait time to see Dr Brar, and all his work with you is thorough. So every appointment will meet your satisfactory.
