Bayou Braces - Orthodontist New Orleans

Negative experience: I had an appointment here on yesterday for braces consultation. I waited over 30 minutes in a room for a manager (I guess) to build a POC on what the cost would be. This young lady did everything but what she was suppose to do as a professional. I left and yet today, I still don't have the details of what we discussed. Call today and they hung up the line before answering. Its disorganized there and I will not be going back. She asked for my dental insurance but she had better not bill anything because consultations are free. What an experience!!! Over an hour for absolutely nothing. I'm an insurance broker and very appalled by the atmosphere. The xray tech was wonderful though, thanks Tiffany!

Negative experience: I’ve been calling multiple numbers trying to contact the New Orleans east location for months and no answer! The phone just rang. Even if you choose the option that you are a “new patient”. I am unable to make it to the office due to being out of town and another provider has been trying to obtain records. Bayou braces is so exhausting ugh

Negative experience: STOLE OVER $6000 from me!!!! In my profession I have to be away sometimes for months at a time I decided to keep making my payments which I paid off the entire balance and because they said I didn’t schedule appts within 5 months they wanted me to pay additional money $110 for treatment tho the treatment cost is already included in the original contract which was the $6000. When I try to speak the owner the white woman while at the facility they threaten to call the cops on me lied and said they’ll have the black man reach out to me via email and or call me. He never reached out and when I called over a course of months cause my life still has to continue they suggested I continue treatment outside of New Orleans at their Baton Rouge location which is completely out the way for me all because the white owner in New Orleans east feelings is hurt for something that must be true. I called the woman owner out for being racist. Both the white woman and Asian Orthodontics acts like they both own the facility so you never know who’s in charge because they all cover for one another. They also will body shame you as a blk man I gained a lot of weight the few months I was away working and when I got back for my treatment they were looking at me in discuss and treated me horrible.

Negative experience: I don't know this place have 4 stars it must be people they know doing reviews for them I thought this was a good place for my son to get braces I was wrong I will be so glad when its over they have this option where you can finance with this company and I did but every time you make a payment the office cant see that they even tried to deny my son from going to his appointment because they said we didn't make a payment when it comes out of out account each month that's not my problem that you cant see it maybe y'all should have better communication with the finance company and then they tell your business in front of everybody in the lobby which I know Thats a violation of HIPPA LAW This place is ridiculous and don't let me talk about how rude and unprofessional the staff is they hire anybody!!

Fantastic experience: Do you see this smile?! We’ve been together since I was 16 and he was 18—that’s 38 years of love and laughter! But let me tell you, I’ve never seen my husband flash a grin this dazzling before. Now, he’s out here looking like a Hollywood Superstar, and I swear, the ladies in the retirement homes can’t resist him! I had a somewhat severe case according the staff here but with very easy to follow instructions, I walked out of that Orthodontist office with a smile so perfect it doesn’t look real! Appreciation goes out to Dee: she kept me in the game throughout most of my sessions and was super excited to see the finished result. Thanks again guys. Couldn’t be any happier.

Negative experience: They took money off my card after I just told these people I was coming in to make a payment on my daughters braces gave them the date I was coming in and still took funds off my card. Have not been pleased with the work they did. But still giving them a chance to make it right

Negative experience: As a mom with 2 children who needed braces, I was excited when I heard about Bayou Braces. I felt their advertisement was spot on for New Orleanians. My son was actually the very first patient to have braces put on at the location on Chef, behind Raising Canes. They were a very new location and the office was very nice. Staff was limited but I received quality care during our initial consultation. I decided to allow my son to get braces that very same day, as I said they were very new and not busy at all. He was the first person to have braces put on at that location. After about 1 year , I started noticing that the level of service and communication was not as effective as it initially was. I called and someone told me that the owners (both orthodontists) were in the process of having a baby. As a mama, I understand how stressful this can be, but safeguards should be put in plan so that the business flows. Ultimately, they changed my son’s visits to every 3 months, but I was paying for treatment every month. I reached out and left a few messages. It was not until I popped up at that location, that I was actually able to speak with the office manager. I told her about the lack of service and follow thru I received and how the service had changed from our initial visit and consultation. Instead of me being more comfortable with the business, they became very uneasy to work with as my questions were only answered during the visits we had. Months after going through this, the office manager got back with me and told me she had surgery or was out the country, and she was not in the office. I understood that, but I shouldn’t be penalized as a customer. I told her that we were interested in going to another orthodontist and discontinuing our services. I could not see myself being with this business for another year and a half. The very next day they released us from our contract and sent over all the applicable information so that my son could start treatment at another orthodontist. I have 2 stars because when ever I did talk to someone, I felt like general concern was taken to explain or address my questions. They have since done away with that location and moved to this location. I really wanted to like this business because ins of the owners is black, but I just think at the time they were in over their heads. I spoke to a parent a few weeks ago and she had similar problems. Although we were patients 6 years ago, it is alarming that we shared some of the same experiences. Honestly I didn’t think this business would be open as long as they have been. I would not recommend them, but wish them the best of luck. Everything has a learning curve to it. The initial email I sent to them is attached.

Positive experience: I’ve been dealing with this office since it opened, and in the last 6 to 7 months, the customer service has improved tremendously. I now feel safe sending my kids in to check themselves in without fear of mistreatment. One of the employees, Tia, provides amazing customer service and knows how to meet customers’ needs to provide the best service.

Fantastic experience: These people are so friendly and PROFESSIONAL and will eventually SHUT DOWN the Entire Orthodontic Industry as far as going anywhere else! This place will eventually be a 1 stop shop and in the mean time a person can get a great deal of other treatment to get things started. I am so happy about this place and the very kind staff!! They make their services affordable because a great smile should be affordable to everyone! Braces serve a great purpose and the end result is AMAZING, but if you have any inkling of someone, or yourself who doesn't floss everyday, brush after meals, drinking from straws preventing tooth stains etc...getting routine dental service prior to braces, (DEEP GUM CLEANING) DO NOT GET BRACES!! They are really in my opinion for HIGH MAINTENANCE PEOPLE. Try INVISALINE if you are a candidate because everyone's situation is different, but the same hygiene applies, but it will have your teeth more accessible. Also, if you have braces and are not at least thread flossing for 30-45 minutes, braces aren't for you, if you have platypus flossers then it should be at least 5 minutes, and technically EVERY TIME YOU HAVE EATEN. This is personal insight for anyone who may really want to know the truth, and a great PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY with BAYOU BRACES. I will update my finished smile. Even if you are clueless you will be constantly updated on any dental you may be lacking, which may affect your end results, or cause decay. IF YOU DON’T HAVE A DENTIST, FIND ONE! GET ALL YOUR DENTAL WORK DONE EXTRACTIONS, XRAYS, GUMS...EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU GO TO ANY ORTHODONTIST. Peace and Good luck family

Negative experience: Came in for brace appt last week. Zero stars. How did this place get such a high rating? Who knows…? If you’re looking for braces & dentistry don’t come here. I would recommend going elsewhere. Don’t be fooled by the high ratings. Bring your hard earned money elsewhere.

Negative experience: Worse experience everrrrrrrrr !!!! I sat in the office from 8:30am-3:00pm & still didn’t get the service’(S)I was suppose to receive . No one was on the same page , the ortho side blamed the dental side for my long wait & the dental side blamed the ortho side. I called off from work just to have waisted day at Bayou Braces !

Negative experience: Don’t go to this place. Haven’t had my braces on for even a week bracket already has broken off (even though i’ve been following all procedures eating soft foods, not chewing on my front teeth, etc.) which is annoying they give you bare minimum service .Also the girl didn’t put the color ties on correctly 2 of them where half way on and one was missing completely. I had to go home and put them back on correctly, what am I pay $5k for? Not to mention as I was getting my braces applied the girl nicked my gums a couple times with the tool causing pain, burning, and bleeding on my gums for multiple days. Very unprofessional they need to be more gentle with there patients. I should’ve never came to Bayou Braces and I don’t recommend it for anyone interested in going there! Wish these reviews had a 0 star rating option, 1 star is way to high for this bummy establishment!

Fantastic experience: My teen son wanted to go with invisalign with Bayou Braces. Their communication through out entire process was great. My son understood everything that was explained to him. They always ask if we have any questions that need clarification Everyone from the front desk to Dr. Riche were awesome and very friendly. Def. Recommend!

Negative experience: such an unprofessional place. came for a braces consultation after having had them 10 years ago. The orthodontist doesn't actually speak to you or see you or anything. Just pictures taken and then you to an office with a sales rep almost for pricing. The "plan" that the "dr" had shared with her for me including removing front teeth. Why would I do that instead of moving teeth from the back,.. like my wisdom teeth that I have all of. it just didn't make sense. not even to my actual doctor. Honestly, I was done at that moment but then the conversation that was had really turned me off. The lady argued with me about me not wanting children after she was informed that we had the same diagnosis. It truly truly irks me when people try to convince me that I want children. Family planning is a personal matter and best case scenario- personal decision. It was a 3 minute conversation for nothing. Would never recommend this place. seems like they just want quick money.

Negative experience: My first experience was pleasant. I was examined by a female orthodontist who was very thorough. She made me comfortable with Bayou Braces. Unfortunately, my son's and I didn't get braces at that moment. When I went in for my second consultation, there was a male orthodontist there. I was sold on the $1 down and the lady that processed us convinced me to have the braces put on that day. This visit was not as professional as the first. One of the girls bust in the room where i was sitting saying that she would not put my sons braces on, although he had been cleared by Louisiana Dental. The orthodontist did not do a full examination and he wouldn't listen to me. He kept saying that I had a gap and I kept trying to explain that there was a tooth there. He never acknowledged the tooth. I honestly think that my braces on my top teeth are not on correctly. I guess I'll find out when I go back for my follow up. And as the white girl was telling me what I can and cannot eat, she told me that I couldn't eat "hot cheetos" and that I could eat chicken to help with the soreness. I haven't figured out the difference between "hot cheetos" and "cheetos". Can I eat one and not the other? And why chicken? What if I was vegan? This place is advertised all over Q93, meaning you're trying to reach a certain demographic. After my experience, I kinda wish I would've just paid the bigger down payment and let Louisiana Dental install our braces.

The doctor will then again explain the process to you in which you can understand and get your feedback before proceeding.

Negative experience: Hi, When Bayou Braces 1st opened in Metairie and in NO east with the original owners/ staff the service was good. I was a customer for 2 years . Now you have to call 6-8 times to make an appt. you are placed on hold until you hang up and then. told by the office staff to text them. The new staff with Heidi and another caucasian short person with eye glasses talk down to customers. I am now going to a reputable Dentist Office that specialize in aligners. Horrible Service and Staff! Don’t do it!

Negative experience: Horrible customer service...NOE location appointment was scheduled & confirmed for 1pm when I arrived the receptionist pretended she could not locate my name when she finally did she told me my appointment was for 2pm and to return at 1 45...I requested leave from work and drove a great distance for the appointment and also had other Dr. Appointments scheduled for this day ...no consideration for the patient s time...& Someone called later in the day to reschedule the appointment...I responded "no thanks"
