Experiencia fantástica: I had an amazing experience with Dr. Spottswood and Emma, the dental hygienist. From the moment I arrived, they made me feel welcomed and comfortable. Their communication, knowledge, professionalism, and customer service were exceptional!!! They explained everything clearly and never made me feel rushed. You can truly tell they care about their patients and take pride in what they do. This was by far one of the best dental visits I’ve ever had, and I highly recommend them!

Experiencia negativa: Experience was great to start with, BUT: Update 2022/23: NOT RECOMMENDED!! My original experienced dentist was transferred to a different office and I was told my insurance wouldn't let me follow him. I was finally placed with another, but only after they cancelled several appointments! My new dentist didn't seem to have that much experience with dentures and she was huffy when I voiced displeasure with the way my lower denture looked! It felt like I was being punished for daring to complain or ask for any changes... They even left pink impression goo all around my mouth and told me to go clean myself up!?! I ended up with a substandard lower denture that never fit right and, needless to say, I never went back!!!!!

I too was immediately impressed with every staff member I interacted with. The dentist was as kind and gentle as my friend described. Well I'm in! Had my X-rays, right away that day! Now I'm getting some fillings done, then scheduling an extraction, a good cleaning and the steps to get a partial denture. Thank you NDG. I can't wait to see what's next

Experiencia negativa: The hygienist was rude and insensitive. She put the X-ray piece in my mouth. It was too large, caused me to gag, scraped my lower gums and roof of mouth. When I told her it was painful she was rude and tried to do it again because the first didn’t work. I refused. She laid back the chair to start the “cleaning”. I explained I have a tooth that is very sensitive and shoots a bad pain when touched near the gum line. Obviously, I was telling her this so she would be extra careful when scraping and poking in the area. Her sarcastic response “well don’t touch it”. I had to stand up and walk out. She talked over me and offered no compassion despite me telling her that I’ve spent 110 days in the hospital over the last 11 months due to stage 4 lymphoma and respiratory failure. If you want gentle, compassionate dentistry please don’t go here.

Experiencia fantástica: This was my first visit to, Newcastle Dental Group. It started with the front desk and something got mixed up and I wasn’t scheduled but they were able to work me in. Then the dental hygienist, Jamie was so gentle when she did my xrays, said she noticed I had a small mouth so she used the pediatrics size instead of hurting me like many others have forced. Then the dentist was up front and honest with me about my teeth. Never felt forced or uncomfortable. 10/10 would recommend! I’ll definitely be continuing my dental care with Newcastle Dental Group!

The visit was personable, and friendly, found Dr Spottswood to be intelligent, warm, knowledgeable, and careful at her work. Certainly had a small town charm with a few hidden gems, I came in with ' drill anxiety ' so the DA, Ardina, who asked me to call her Adina, spoke to me in such kindness and sweetness, I thought she might be an Angel. I have a lot of work that needs done, I am thankful to have Newcastle dentistry. Will be back in two weeks! Checking back in! The ladies finished the work on my teeth, if you have a fear of the dentist - the Newcastle clinic is your place to go; kindness, professional workmanship, and all work was done with a rare sensitive patience. I hope this recommendation is helpful, I drive an hour - it's worth the drive to be treated like family .

Experiencia fantástica: I cannot say enough good things about Newcastle Dental Group. All the ladies there are truly wonderful. I’ve officially found my forever dentist. They were so gentle and patient with my 7- and 8-year-olds, who both had several cavities, and with me as I started my own denture journey. I was extremely embarrassed about my teeth, but not once did anyone make me feel judged. When I had my extractions, I ended up crying — I was a mess mentally — and they were nothing but compassionate, understanding, and genuinely comforting. The doctor is a special lady and an amazing dentist. We each had schedule changes once or twice, but they communicated with me every time and was so accommodating. That meant a lot. I’m truly grateful for their kindness, professionalism, and the way they treat their patients like real people. I’m so glad I chose Newcastle Dental Group for this journey. Highly recommend.

Experiencia negativa: I called this dentist office ahead of time to confirm that they were in my insurance network. The receptionist looked at my insurance information and told me I was in network, so I went ahead and had the procedure done. Afterward, I was informed that I was actually out of network and was expected to pay a large portion of the bill. This was very frustrating and felt misleading, since I took the time to confirm before scheduling. Patients deserve accurate information about insurance coverage up front, not after the fact.

Experiencia fantástica: I came in for a broken tooth and abscess. I literally am terrified of the dentist....hence the broken tooth etc. BUT Dr. Spottswood made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. It made a world of difference!!! Even though they aren't in my insurance network i will pay out of pocket just to see Dr. Spottswood!!!

Experiencia negativa: I made an appointment for a dental cleaning weeks in advance and told everyone I spoke with that I have *intense* dentist anxiety. A few days before my appointment, I called and specifically asked “how long does a dental cleaning take? How long should I expect this appointment to take?” I was told I was scheduled for one hour. Cool. When I got there, the receptionists were all very kind and patient with me, clearly aware of my anxiety, but the dental hygienist was clearly told nothing. She was nice and all, but asked me specifically to talk about all of my bad dental experiences, as if that would somehow be a positive thing for me while I’m crying in a dentist chair and trying to remain calm. The dentist herself completely infantilized me instead of treating me like a grown adult with a very real anxiety (and not even an irrational one-a family member of mine died due to neglect at a dentist’s office!). After being there for over an hour but not receiving any teeth cleaning, they started trying to schedule another appointment in a month for some minor cavity fillings, at which point they mentioned that I would get my teeth cleaned, too. Turns out, prior authorization was needed for my teeth cleaning. They had weeks to tell me that. They had every opportunity to let me know I wouldn’t be getting my teeth cleaned in that first appointment. They knew damn well that I was expecting to get my teeth cleaned that day. They knew I drove 45 minutes to get there. They knew all these things, and they decided not to say a word and to waste my freaking time. I left without scheduling that second appointment, because screw these guys (and particularly that dentist who treated me like a stupid child). Half of their medical equipment is 25+ years old, too! The plastic on their machines is yellowing due to age. The waiting room looks modern and all, but the back rooms are concerning. You couldn’t pay me to go back there. All they had to do was inform me of what was going on, the fact that I needed a prior authorization, the fact that I would need an appointment before the appointment, etc, that’s all they had to do, but no, they let the person with SEVERE dental anxiety go to an appointment with the understanding that she would be receiving dental care, knowing she wouldn’t. So much stress, anxiety, cortisol flowing through my body when I would have been pretty much fine if they had said “we have to do an exam before we can schedule a cleaning. Nothing will happen during the exam except for the hygienist (who thinks anxiety is spelled with an s instead of an x) taking pictures inside your mouth for a few minutes.” Good riddance.
