Experiencia negativa: I would never recommend them. They stated they would use my insurance. After making an appointment they later stated they were moving to the new location with Hawthorne dental because of problems with their building. I go to Hawthorne dental at 4113 Union rd and get a checkup and x-ray. They didn't do a cleaning but billed me $320. I was told I wasn't covered and to contact my insurance company. It feels to me like bait and switch. I wouldn't use either one if they paid me.

Experiencia negativa: My appointment was cancelled without any communication. I haven’t been to the dentist in a long time due to moving and having to find a new dentist with dental anxiety. I was finally able to get a day off work and made an appointment a month in advance. I received several text reminders about my appointment. When I arrived at the location there was a note on the door saying they were temporarily closed for renovations and to go to Hawthorne dental for appointments. When I arrived at Hawthorne dental the receptionist informed me I was not on the schedule. When I showed her my appointment reminder she said there was a note that they tried to get ahold of me to reschedule my appointment. I never received any phone calls or messages. I went back through my phone logs and was unable to find any attempt to get ahold of me. I desperately needed this appointment and am unable to take more time off work. When I do receive another chance for time off I will be going to a different dentist as this was incredibly unprofessional and deeply frustrating. I am adding photo proof that I never received any communication from the office regarding my appointment or a change in locations. As you can see the only call to their number was from me trying to figure out which location to go to.

Experiencia negativa: I used to go here about four years ago and was very happy, I decided to come back and now I’m very unhappy with the service I’ve received. Went in a week ago after being told to come in immediately because my gum was swollen and pussing, they looked and said to come back for my deep cleaning, no antibiotics, called the next day with more puss actively leaking from my gums and they give me an antibiotic. Yesterday I paid over $1000 for a deep cleaning I was not offered anesthetic, Turns out they claim that the anesthetic is free so it didn’t save me any money. They just caused me unnecessary discomfort for absolutely no reason. They are decently higher priced than other dentist in periodontist that offered the same service, They only build me for a part of the procedure and then told me today that they didn’t bill me for everything so expect another $400 bill. They offer financing through a company that’s a complete rip off, They charge about 34% APR. But I guess my main complaint is that I just paid $1400 for a procedure that every other dental website as well as AI says should take 60 to 90 minutes per half of the mouth but she did my whole mouth in 45 minutes leading me to believe they did not do a thorough job at all. Going back to have the dentist to look at my mouth to make sure they actually did the job. they said they did, but I’m not sure if I can even trust that at this point. Already went ahead and canceled my future appointments And will not be back, I’d strongly recommend you look elsewhere. Crestwood has a very good place.

Experiencia negativa: My husband and I went to this dentist for an initial visit thinking that we would get a checkup and cleaning. Instead, they did an assessment and told both of us that we needed a deep cleaning due to severe pockets in our gums. Total price? $2000 each. We have been going to the dentist regularly for 50 years and have never been told by our dentist that we had this problem. We will not be returning to this office.

Experiencia positiva: The customer service was outstanding. They only concern i had, was when the dental hygienist came in, she did not introduce herself and open the sterilized tools without gloves. But, overall it was a good experience.

Experiencia negativa: Sherri I believe is her name. The dental hygienist there was very unprofessional. It started by her not introducing herself. It was awkward. I watched her set up her equipment without gloves, leading to me being startled by her.. she was putting the cloth like drape around my neck. I didn’t know what was going on. This was my first time coming to that location. I began to just go with the flow. It got to a point where she handed me glasses and asked to put them on. I saw how nasty they were then simply said no thank you I don’t want them. She says I must wear them. Not explaining why I asked if she could wipe them off because they didn’t look clean. She huffed and turned away. I reached for them and told her I’ll do it myself. She snatches them away.. I get up and tell her I didn’t want her service. She says to me Goodbye. I turn to her and say Bye. I got to the nice lady at the front desk and while explaining Sherri’s behavior and how rude she was. Sherri is around the other wall. Talking loudly causing disruption. Try to explain as well. I walk to Sherri and asked her to leave me alone and go back to work. She continues to yell and say I’m not touching you. I got back to front desk and continue to reschedule my appointment at a different location. Sherri didn’t seem happy with assisting me. She was agitated from the start. I glad I walked away from her. I did not feel cared for or treated with respect. She needs to be replaced for her unhappy, rude, disgusting behavior.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a great experience. Everyone from the front desk to the assistants to my Dentist did an incredible job. They made welcome and at ease. I had veneers done, and my smile is transformed. I’m happy, you will be to with South County Smiles.

Experiencia negativa: Do not go here. Office staff is completely incompetent and rude. We are now having to scramble and find a different dentist because apparently, the office manager is new to Aetna and she doesn’t understand what a referral form is. She claims she doesn’t have the info to complete the form? Aetna has verified the dentist has everything needed and even they are confused by this. Just save yourself a headache. There are plenty of other places to go to that actually care about their patients. I guess having an infected tooth means nothing. Pretty big liability if you ask me… Christine is not equipped to handle any type of office work. Managerial skills are non existent. Knowledge is clearly not there. To have the excuse of “I’m new to Aetna” when my partner needs surgery for infection is wild. Her staff says she will be at a location and she says she won’t be. So someone is a liar ;) Again, do not go here unless you want to be disregarded and treated like complete dirt. At least I know how to do my job Christine. Maybe find work elsewhere?

Experiencia negativa: I want to this dentist one time, yesterday for a tooth that is absessed. The dentist gave me a shot that numbed me for 3 hrs. She prescribed me 300 mg of Tylenol 3. Those did nothing, I called their after hour emergency line to absolutely no avail. I will NEVER go back to SOUTH COUNTY SMILES!!!! IN AND OUT. GRAB THAT INSURANCE CARD AND SEND YOU ON YOUR MERRY WAY. BEWARE!!!!! You’ve been informed!!!!!!

Experiencia negativa: I went there for a pain in my gum line and after all kind of xrays they came back and said your wisdom teeth need to be pulled and you need a deep cleaning. This was a visit here because my dentist was on vacation. The following week i went to my regular dentist and no deep cleaning needed and no need to pull my wisdom teeth and after he took xrays he found that a piece of my jaw bone splintered off and was causing all my pain. If they could see it on their xrays why couldn't these people see it. My advice is stay away because they have no idea what they are doing!

Experiencia negativa: My wife used to go there but apparently there is a new dentist. The receptionist is rude. As I was questioning some of the charges on my bill, she even hanged up on me. My wife went for a cleaning and they changed it to a different billing code that was not 100% insurance covered, never told us anything. They tried to tell my wife she needed all kind of work then she doesn’t need (confirmed by a new dentist). Will never go back there. RUDE, BAD SERVICE, STAY AWAY.

Experiencia negativa: If I could leave 0 stars, I would. What is going on? I called over 10 times the last 2 days and each time it says the office is closed. Then towards the end of the day yesterday, I get a call back trying to schedule me for a cleaning. I asked why they didn’t answer the phone the times I had called earlier in the day, they said they had phone isssues. Ok cool happens understandable, so I tell the guy I have a toothache and leave to go on a trip in 2 days, asked if they could just see what the issue was and he says yeah no problem just come in tomorrow anytime we will squeeze you in we’re here till 3 pm, great right? Well no, because I got off work early so I could make it in (at 12:45) and when I got there, they were closed. Door is locked, I tried calling multiple times and it tells me immediately they are closed?? Even though I was told to come in today??? Thanks for wasting my time. If you guys are closed or having issues, maybe let your patients know.

Experiencia negativa: Terrible. They submitted the claim as out of network then lied and said they submitted in network. Pics for proof. Then quoted me $180.00 for a filling because insurance only covers silver. I called my insurance company and confirmed that a regular filling is covered. I wasn’t going to complain about the following but now I am. I went in for a filling and they bombarded me with xrays and a cleaning. No biggie, except for the lady who stabbed my gums 30 times while I squirmed around in pain. I was in tears. It’s literally in my chart that my teeth are sensitive. I’ve been going here for a years and used to be amazing. What happened?

Experiencia negativa: I had a dentist appointment and gave all of my information to the receptionist including insurance. Apparently the previous dentist retired and they DID NOT inform me of this. I saw another dentist that I later found out that he was OUT OF NETWORK! I was sent a bill for my checkup. My insurance did not pay for my visit because the dentist was OUT OF NETWORK!! We've been coming to this office for 20 YEARS....and never had an issue. I called to talk with the office manager and she said this is our responsibility to know this. After I gave my insurance information at my visit they did not inform me that I would be seeing a new dentist....how would I know to ask??? I was very disappointed with the dentist!! He wasn't thorough either!! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND SOUTH COUNTY SMILES!!!

Experiencia negativa: We were patients of this office for over 15 years. The transition from the old dentists/dental hygenists/office staff was not an easy one. We have had billing problems, trouble getting a hold of people, making appointments and not great care when we have had the appointments. As much as I hate the work of moving to a new practice, I am doing it because I am fed up with the issues I've had this year.

Experiencia negativa: The experience up front seemed great however they should be more forthcoming pertaining to the fact that if something is required after the exam pertaining to more in depth dental work that they prefer to outsource the procedures. In which scenario if you're only allowed one exam per 6 months per your insurance that you will have to pay out of pocket for the next one where you plan to get the procedure done. This office should not market themselves as a pediatric dentist when my daughter seemed to be very calm and collective yet they state they were afraid to do the procedure bc she was twitchy when I witnessed the entire thing. Not happy that there was 0 transparency in the beginning or I'd have chose a different dentist regardless if there would be issues or not that needed attention beyond the exam.

They gave me a plan and what it could possibly cost to get what i needed done. They gave me a referral to someone who works on what i need. Experiencia fantástica: I put off going to the dentist for about 15 years due to some bad experiences with a dentist I had as a child, but when I started noticing some pain from a cavity, I told myself, "Self, you know what you have to do" and I started my search to find a dentist which brought me to South County Smiles. I can not say enough positive things about South County Smiles and ALL of the staff! Since September, I've had 5 appointments, 2 of which were fillings. I have a fear of needles (which I get weird looks for saying since I have tattoos and piercings, but I'm telling you those are way different! ), so that, along with my fear of dentists, my anxiety was through the roof, but Dr. Reyes is a master with his numbing technique and I felt no pain at all! Paige, Beth, Kelly, Rhonda, Dr. Reyes....... every single person I've encountered here are wonderful people with great senses of humor and great at what they do! I'm so thankful for them, I can't explain how amazing it feels to have a smile I'm not embarrassed of anymore and excited to continue improving my mouth health. So if you're like me and have bad anxiety regarding trips to the dentist, give them a try. I went from literally shaking/crying while I was searching for a dentist in my network, to now being okay walking through those doors and sitting down in that chair because they are very compassionate and will make sure you're doing okay and aren't feeling any pain throughout whatever procedure you're having done. Edit [March 12, 2025]: I wanted to edit my review to reflect some changes since my previous review a year ago. Dr. Reyes has since retired, sadly. Christine works the front and is the beautiful, smiling face that greets you. She is so empathetic and understanding of the anxiety that often comes with dental visits and is a pleasure to talk to. Sherry (spelling?) is a fantastic hygienist... another very understanding, friendly, skilled individual you can tell is knowledgeable and good at what she does. Rhonda is still here, thankfully; I love laughing with her, she has such a magnetic personality and helps ease me into dental procedures (and always offers to hold my hand!). Dr. Simon did my most recent fillings and she did a wonderful job.

I went here after my dentist left Hawthorn Dental (for unknown reasons) to finish up an already started tooth implant I was jacked around multiple times the implant was wrong and should have never been put into my mouth They never stood behind the implant tooth nor did the people they sent me to who made it I went through this over a year back and forth from St Charles It could have been avoided if the dentist paid attention to the implant before putting it in This was the worst experience ever and caused more frustration and anxiety than I should have ever had to go through Horrible place! From the office manager to the actual dentist who thank god has just retired

They were particularly supportive and passionate about my mom having translating done as she spoke little English. The staff from front desk admins, dental assistant to the dentist all were kind, professional and very caring! Cannot thank them enough for how wonderful they were to my mom!

Experiencia negativa: I was pregnant when I went to my first appointment. They were worried about me coming in to get a cleaning, and doing some work on my mouth while I was pregnant. My doctor told me no. So I scheduled a appointment after I had my baby. I showed up and they had canceled my appointment after I drove 45 minutes there. They told me my appointment was rescheduled for the 4th of September I told them to cancel and found a new dentist.

Experiencia negativa: Scheduled my cleaning appointment earlier in the year for this past week. I took the day off of work to be there and was told my appointment had been cancelled a month prior without my knowledge. Front desk person said Paige put "cancellation through text confirmation" as the reason. I never received a said confirmation text. I showed my appointment confirmation email and appointment reminder card and was offered the opportunity to reschedule. I declined and will be finding a new dentist. Very disappointing.

Everyone at this place is so nice. Dr Reyes is very good. I wasn't sure about him as I had gone to same dentist for a long time. But he us very kind. I recommend his office.
