I was so impressed by the welcoming and beautiful office. The staff from Abbey, hygienist, Taylor, office mgr and receptionist were all so friendly. Dr Uher was very engaging and professional. We established a progressive plan for action. They offer a very reasonable dental plan, too. pI left feeling that I had made a great choice for my future dental needs !! Mike Moreland Ennis, Tx

Experiencia negativa: I usually only do good reviews but this one really upset me. YOU’VE BEEN WARNED! I went in expecting a routine cleaning, but they didn’t actually do anything at that first visit. Instead, they pushed me out a couple of months and still billed my insurance as if services had been completed. When I returned, they did a very minimal “cleaning” and told me I needed to come back again to finish—while asking for additional payment. At that point, it felt like they were stretching out something that should have been handled in a single visit. On top of that, I scheduled my son. He missed an appointment and was charged $75, which I understand. However, they later called me to reschedule him. I told them they needed to speak with him directly since I didn’t know his availability. They never contacted him, rescheduled anyway, and then charged another $75 when he didn’t show. At my follow-up visit, they refused to proceed with work I had already paid for (or that insurance had covered) unless I paid the $150 in missed appointment fees first. Meanwhile, there were multiple employees sitting around while I still wasn’t getting proper care. My teeth were never fully cleaned, and what little was done could have easily been completed in one visit not dragged out across several. Overall, this felt disorganized, poorly managed, and more focused on billing than patient care. I will never go there again.

Linda in the office was very helpful with assisting her with completing the paperwork. She was very pleased with the dentist and the outcome of her procedure and the office personnel.

Experiencia negativa: It’s been right at a year since I’ve had a cleaning and nothing about my oral hygiene has changed in that time. I went in expecting a routine exam and cleaning. I even told them ahead of time that I wanted nitrous oxide because I get anxious — so I already knew I’d be paying for that part out-of-pocket and was totally fine with it. My understanding was that my insurance would cover the normal cleaning I actually scheduled for. After the exam, I was suddenly told I ‘needed’ a $175 gingivitis cleaning plus $63 for an irrigation… even though no one actually told me I had gingivitis. And I find it interesting, because I’ve never once tasted blood in my mouth — not saying my gums didn’t bleed at all, but it’s funny how they run a needle-sized metal pick into your gums hard enough to make you jerk back, and then immediately declare something wrong that insurance conveniently won’t cover. When I asked for a regular cleaning (the one my insurance does cover), I was told they “couldn’t” do one. No explanation, no alternatives, nothing. Just a nearly $300 out-of-pocket estimate and an expectation I’d go along with it. When I said I couldn’t afford that, no one asked questions, no one offered options, and no one seemed remotely concerned. They just handed me the treatment plan and let me walk out — which says a lot for a place that seems very enthusiastic about upselling. My insurance paid for my exam and X-rays and I have chosen to take my business elsewhere which is pretty sad because I really do like the dentist that owns the practice just based on the work he has done for my husband. Sharing my experience so future patients know to ask very specific questions before committing.

Experiencia positiva: Very friendly and nice. they take care of you in a timely manner. Treat the symptoms so you can start feeling better. Office visit is a little pricey. Extraction seemed reasonble. Sometimes she'll sing to you softly as she works.

Dr. Mortensen Did an excellent job on educating me on my options and extracting my tooth as well, his assistant was just as amazing as him! Kelsey is amazing with my 10- and 6-year-old, encouraging the older by answering all his questions and putting the younger at ease by playing games with her and holding the x-ready equipment so that she didn't have to bite down and feel it. Definitely put my girl with dental anxiety at ease! Dr. Mortensen also is very personable and thoroughly explains what is happening. I always feel that with each visit we get cleaner teeth but also learn more so we can better care for our teeth in the future. I also love the calm, quiet atmosphere in the office. We never feel rushed, and there are TVs so the kids can relax and watch something for fun. Overall, it is a joy to come here. ------------------- I loved our first visit to Hometown Dental. The office was very punctual. The hygienist was very personable, working very efficiently yet also explaining everything she was doing for me, my 8-year-old and 4-year-old (who was nervous about her first-ever trip to the dentist). Dr. Mortensen was also very friendly to all of us, asking the kids for permission before checking in their mouths and explaining everything he was going to do before doing so. I felt like we all have cleaner teeth and a better understanding of what we need to do to keep our teeth in good shape. Definitely will be recommending them to adults with and without kids!
