Experiencia positiva: Why, even after I was adamant that my son was not to get sedation the doctors were giving my husband a hard time and were insisting that my son absolutely needed it. My husband and I know what is best for our son and do not appreciate being cornered into something we strictly told the dentist office that he did not need. However dentist really need to not discuss procedures in front of the children. They need to discuss the procedures in front of the adults so that the adults can make the best educated decision without filling the kids head. We do not need sedation Procedures. Otherwise, that fills my child’s head that he will always needs sedation. If it is major surgery, I can understand, but Miner procedures in the mouth. He does not need sedation.

Experiencia fantástica: My daughter (and I!) had a fantastic first appointment at Purcellville Pediatric Dentistry. Every member of the staff was friendly, patient and extremely understanding. As an early childhood educator, I was really pleased that the hygienist showed my daughter all the tools and brushes used, sang to her, gave her a special toy to hold during her cleaning. All of this was super developmentally appropriate for my two-year-old! The dentist was very gentle and informative as well. I don’t see a way that she won’t grow up thinking going to the dentist is fun! We have definitely found the best pediatric dentist in the area!

Experiencia negativa: Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else! The office is clean and there is a nice play area. The staff appear friendly, but it's just one bad experience after another. The scheduling is constantly changed. On multiple occasions I've show up for our appointments, just to find out it was rescheduled or changed without any notice. The first time it happened, I believed it was my fault, but after it happening again and again? No, they are doing it. Especially, since they knew exactly who we were when we walked in without needing much information to look us up. She readily had our file history available. Also, the both Dentists bedside manner is lackluster at best. I also felt like my kids did not receive the best care or medical advice. They consistently bill for treatments even though I tell them to not do Fluoride if it's not covered by the insurance, but like clockwork, I get a bill from them after every visit. We went there for a few years and it's consistently been a poor experience. I do not recommend at all.

The open space cleaning area with natural light, cartoons on tv and zero hidden tools removed any hesitation and fears. Patients know exactly what to expect and hygienists are patient and engaging. Everyone at this practice is friendly, thorough and professional. Dr Mona is very approachable and she answers all questions - even the ones my kids ask. My kids feel respected and heard. As a parent I never feel like I’m asking for too much information or explanations.

Experiencia negativa: The dental experience was great, but I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone! While in our consult, I was charged for the visit and told that was the balance forward. After our visit was over we received a bill and was told that the consult wasn’t free and we had to pay it. Do not go here! they will lie to you and then send you a bill! Right before Christmas and we were flabbergasted by the bill we weren’t expecting, for services (sealant) that are completely covered by our regular dentist.

Experiencia negativa: The dentist was supposed to do a simple filling on my son when he was 2 and she hit a nerve. She assured us that he wouldn't remember and it wouldn't cause problems. That tooth died, he lost it at 5 (way too early) and had to have a space maintainer for years. He also suffered from severe dental anxiety for years from the pain of that experience that the dentist assured us he would not remember and was not having pain. She is nice, but her clinical acumen is the concern. I wish I had known before ever subjecting him to that.

Experiencia negativa: I have absolutely no understanding of the outstanding reviews. There is nothing kid friendly about this office (a balloon doesn't make it so). First, I arrived ON TIME to my appointment at 10:20 and we were instantly told "your appointment was at 10:00". I said no, see your appointment reminder from yesterday I got via text it even says 10:20 (which is also the time I booked) and I showed my text to prove it but asked if we needed to come back another time. I was told ok and so we are ushered back quickly but no one stopped to say hi to my scared child. (People walking up in masks not saying hi to your 5 year old who is already terrified of going to the dentist....pull down the mask for a smile and a quick hi would do WONDERS for KIDS instead of just having us quickly follow you back to a ROW full of dental chairs which stare at the most boring wall I have ever seen. This place is STERILE looking all around. My adult dental office has more life in it and this place is for kids. (well, on the beige wall were a few TVs that were on the silent so there's that I guess). There are a few drawings in a frame on the right hand wall but no kids can see that when they are in the chair staring straight ahead. Anyway, having someone just tell a scared kid to get in the chair again never having tried to say hi or introduce themselves sets kids up to be scared. How about any of you all attempting to connect with a kid on the walk back perhaps. Especially when they walk through your sterile office (a small kids play area up front doesn't make a place a welcoming place for kids) to arrive at a row full of chairs then are told to wear sunglasses because the light will be bright. If you work with kids I would think it would be common sense to at least try to connect with them....share that the light will just be to see in their mouth - anything. Amway....once the dentist arrived she told my daughter she was going to use the pick to just count her teeth and showed her at least. My daughter was scared of the thing but let her but come on now when you say you are just going to use it to count the teeth then you scrape the teeth to see if there are cavities the sound of the scraping is scary. I know that doesn't sound like a big deal but for a terrified kid who has had a bad experience before, perhaps saying what is really going to happen would be helpful. Also try being less transactional and think about what kids feel and see. Also, as parents even though my daughter had no cavities, we really disliked her getting a little white piece of paper to put up on the "no cavity club" because sometimes kids have cavities due to genetics etc. At the end of the visit giving my daughter adult dental floss and a kids toothbrush and a balloon did not feel like it made a connection to a dentist office that touts themselves as the "tooth" fairy pediatric dentist. I may as well just start bringing my daughter to my own dentist since her office has a plant or two at least and they would actually chat with my daughter and try to make it less transactional. I chose this office due to thinking they would try to connect with kids meanwhile it was anything but that. From start to finish this was a negative experience and we were rushed through all of it. (I wasn't late but you sure made us feel like I was.) And my gosh some $15 wall decals on Amazon would go such a long way for a "pediatric" office.

Experiencia negativa: they were nice. But seemed irritated that my children were anxious. Then they told me my children needed to be IV sedated for dental work because they were afraid. Was going to be literally thousands of dollars for the sedation. And that didn’t even include the dental work. Took them to a different dentist, who said my daughter had one tooth that they were watching and my son had a cavity but they were going to just watch it for now and see. Said that sometimes they want for us and he was going to lose this tooth soon anyways.

The ladies here make him comfortable enough to do X-rays, clean and even do extra work! So blessed that we found them and they are so great!

As she was cleaning his teeth, she started singing to him and he calmed down and completely stopped crying. It was the sweetest thing to witness. The staff is fantastic with kids (especially those who like to talk…) and they do a great job with his teeth. He’s had ONE cavity in his life - and while I know a lot of that is good habits at home, they do their best to do all the preventative work necessary to ensure a healthy (and still chatty) mouth.

We easily get same-day urgent appointments as well as appointments 6-months out for all 5 kids. In fact, for routine cleanings, they see all 5 kids on the same day at the same time! We have also used their affordable sedation services for our autistic child which, along with excellent staff bedside manner, has eliminated anxiety during fillings and regular cleanings. We highly recommend Purcellville Pediatric Dentistry to any family looking for excellent customer service and excellent dental results for their children.

Everyone in the office is so professional, thorough, kind, and patient! Stephanie made us feel welcome from the minute we walked in and has been so helpful at every appointment. The dentists and their assistants go out of their way to make the kids feel comfortable. We plan to be here for a long time.
