Experiencia negativa: I wouldn’t recommend if you have older children or a teen. I called and the front desk lady said that my 12, almost 13 is old enough to go to a general dentist. She made me feel like I shouldn’t be making an appointment for her there. Maybe she is older but she has anxiety at the dentist so I prefer her to see a pediatric dentist. Pediatric care is for anyone 21 and under by the way. She also still has baby teeth. Her last pediatric dentist never made us feel like she was too old to be seen there. We just moved here and so I’m looking for a new dentist for her. They don’t take our insurance so I called elsewhere. No big deal if they don’t take our insurance but I am not sure why the front desk is telling potential patients that their teens are too old to be at this office. Maybe she was just letting me know so I can find someone in network, but it seemed strange to me. I already know she can see a general dentist but that isn’t what I want for her. I’m sure the dentist is nice, but I will never know.

They remember the boys and their interests. They always work to make them comfortable. Dr Miller is an amazing dentist and always communicates clearly with us. We have never felt pressured to do anything and they always let us know our options. Kate is incredible with scheduling. She works hard to work with our schedules and she is the most caring/friendly admin we have ever worked with. I can’t say enough about this office. An absolute gem in Monterey.

The front office team is incredibly efficient and kind. The back office team are clearly very experienced with how to make kids comfortable. My toddler had his first cleaning and was having a moment where he was about to melt down, but Heather (the hygienist) took her time to show him the tools she used and put in effort to ensure that he didn’t leave the appointment unnecessarily fearful. Dr Miller is a gentle dentist who knows how to keep exams quick but thorough and age- appropriate and he always has practical tips for us parents. 10/10 recommend this Dr Miller and his team!

Experiencia fantástica: Eleven years ago I took my daughter to DDS Matt Miller for a second opinion on pending cavity treat. DDS Miller commented that if she were his patient he would not drill and fill baby teeth unless he deemed it necessary. But that all dentists have their method of treatment. He prefers to be pro-active to prevent the need for fillings. Unfortunately, I allowed an alternative dental group to drill and fill four questionable cavities. We then spent the next two weeks dealing with high fevers and eventual diagnosis of a blood and bone infection, Myocarditis, resulting in six days at Stanford Hospital. We left that dental group and Matt has been our two children’s primary dentist since. Due to his method of treatment, neither child had many cavities during the past eleven years. Six month check ups, cleanings and fluoride treatments, were all great. Couldn’t find better dental care. I absolutely trust them with my most cherished loved ones, my children.

They provide such a comfortable experience, that you look forward to every visit, which is especially important for children. Growing up, they took care of me, and now I bring my son to them. Every appointment feels more like a visit to see family, than just a trip to the dentist, especially since most of the same staff has worked there for years. It’s a testament to the positive environment Dr. Miller and his team have created and maintained for decades. It makes me feel confident to know my son will receive the best care from them, and will grow up enjoying his trips to the dentist, and learning to care for his teeth. They are truly the best!

My son is 3 years old and was happy to lay in the chair while also curious to what the hygienist and dentist talked about while looking at his teeth. This was his fourth visit and it's always a bonus for him say hello to the tropical fish too! Front desk staff is very friendly and made sure we left with the necessary receipts and next appointment booked.

Experiencia negativa: Dr. Miller’s office charged my child’s visit for nutritional counseling, a service that was never requested, discussed, or provided at any of our visits. This appears to be an unnecessary extra billing code, especially since it is not covered by insurance and is not part of a routine dental visit. Billing for services not rendered is unacceptable, and I urge the office to correct this practice.

Experiencia negativa: I called this morning to schedule a general cleaning and check-up for my daughter. I informed the receptionist from the beginning that I intended to pay in cash and would not be using insurance. Despite repeating this multiple times, she continued to ask for my insurance information. Eventually, I told her that I have Medi-Cal, and clarified that I was aware your office does not accept it — which is exactly why I wanted to pay out of pocket. Even after explaining this clearly, she repeatedly told me that the office could not help me because I have Medi-Cal. I attempted several times to clarify that I was not using insurance at all and was willing to pay upfront, but she was unwilling to listen. I even asked to speak with someone else, but instead of addressing my concerns, I was told, “We don’t help those kind of people here.” When I requested to speak with a manager, I was abruptly hung up on. I felt deeply disrespected and discriminated against based on the mere fact that I have Medi-Cal, despite making it clear I had no intention of using it. I left a voicemail expressing my concerns but never received a response. It’s extremely disheartening to experience this kind of treatment. I've since scheduled an appointment with a different office where my payment will be accepted — without judgment. The way this situation was handled is unacceptable and reflects very poorly on your office. No one should be treated this way. Edit to add: The dentist is now claiming that I never contacted their office. However, I called multiple times requesting to speak with a manager and even left a voicemail. It seems this kind of behavior is considered acceptable at this office, but some accountability is clearly needed. Edit to add update: Not only was their original reply — which insinuated I was lying — deleted without acknowledgment (screenshot of that original reply from the owner is attached), but I also never received a follow-up call from a manager. There was no apology, no attempt to look into the incident, and no accountability for their dismissive response that tried to make it seem like the interaction never happened. This is further proof that this office considers this kind of behavior acceptable. The lack of transparency and responsibility speaks volumes.
