Experiencia fantástica: My dentist retired several years ago, and I’ve been searching for a new one for the past three years. I tried several offices but was never very impressed. Last week, I chipped one of my front teeth and immediately started searching again. I decided to give Dr. Powell a try because of the incredibly reasonable membership pricing, especially since I don’t have dental insurance. I was able to get an appointment within a couple of days to address the sharp edge on my tooth. The exam was extremely thorough and comprehensive, and all of my concerns were addressed. The staff was friendly and helpful, and Dr. Powell quickly took care of the chip on my tooth. They didn’t try to push unnecessary procedures and were very mindful of my budget. At no point was I made to feel like an inferior human being because my teeth aren’t perfect. I scheduled a cleaning for today using the membership plan, and it was easily one of the fastest and most painless cleanings I’ve ever had. It really feels like the staff at Powell Family Dentistry understand that going to the dentist can be uncomfortable for many people, and they do their best to make the experience as comfortable as possible. I definitely recommend Powell Family Dentistry!

Experiencia negativa: I came in for an emergency dental visit on a Friday due to tooth and gum pain. Dr. Powell explained it could be periodontal disease or something stuck between my tooth and gum. I was also experiencing major sinus pressure on that side of my face. After going home and flossing, I discovered a kernel stuck in my gum, which relieved the pain. I was told by Hattie that she would follow up the same day with information about a sinus specialist referral. Instead, I didn’t hear back until Tuesday (the office is closed Sat–Mon). When she finally called, no doctor information was provided, and by then I had already been seen elsewhere and treated the sinus issue myself. The communication felt employee-centered rather than patient-centered. I later scheduled a cleaning, which I had to arrange myself after receiving a treatment plan for cavities. A cleaning was not originally scheduled even though I explained I hadn’t seen a dentist in years. The hygienist who performed the cleaning was kind and informative, and that part of the experience was positive. My first cavity filling went fine, but I had significant pain afterward and difficulty opening my mouth. At my next appointment for two cavities, the procedure seemed okay initially. However, about a week later I noticed red dots where the cavities had been treated. I returned to the office, and Dr. Powell scraped the area and asked if I could still see them. When I got home, I noticed scratch marks and called back with concerns. I was told there were no scratches, despite what I was clearly seeing. I felt dismissed and not taken seriously. I was also judged and misrepresented during my visit. Staff claimed it looked like I was talking to myself, when in reality I was on a phone call wearing Apple AirPods and had a privacy screen on my phone. That assumption was frustrating and felt unprofessional. Combined with the other issues, this was the final cherry on top. I was uncomfortable with how I felt judged based on my clothing brand and appearance. The environment felt judgmental and unwelcoming. My overall experience was frustrating, and I would encourage others to be cautious and ask detailed questions about their care.

The staff are super professional and very friendly, they're great with kids, the prices are very reasonable, they administer anesthetic very well, and the dentist is quick, efficient, and highly knowledgeable. They answer any and all questions you have to your satisfaction, they do excellent work, and they don't push unnecessary procedures. They also make crowns in-house so the process goes much more quickly and is cheaper than other dentists. If I could rate more than 5 stars I absolutely would.

Experiencia negativa: Although I was late arriving and offered to reschedule, the office staff graciously assured me that it was ok and please go on back to my appointment. Waiting by the door, however, was the dental hygienist Molly, who started right in on me, telling me how late I was. Six more times during the appointment she told me in various ways how late I was, such as, "you'll have to leave earlier next time to arrive here when you should". Never a smile. Am I going back? Maybe. I made my six month appointment and I'll see if I'm over the verbal abuse by then. I won't be seeing Molly, though.

Experiencia negativa: I've been going to the dentist now for about 71 years and this is the first time the hygenist ever speared my lower lip with a sharp dental tool! They also tried to cheat Eva by telling her she needed a root canal and braces! Bullshit, she needed neither and had just been to another dentist that found she needed a "retainer." She is 73 years old not some teenager. Beware of all dentists in TriCities. They will frequently attempt to sell you unnecessary work at almost every business. My former dentist, Spence Jilek in Pasco retired and in the 16 years I used him he replaced one crown and glued another back in! I had Henager and Black and Quail Run Dentistry in Kennewick by the Mall try to talk me into drilling into the side of all my lower teeth and fill them because I had a slightly receeding gum line! Guess what? 17 years later my teeth are still doing fine! There "work" would have resulted in great expense, pain, would have created multiple weak spots for no good reason! Be careful of these damn dentists! Despicable!
