Experiencia fantástica: Very professional, thorough, and efficient. I’ve been to Virginia Biological dentistry a few times, and I am very impressed with their service. My husband and children have all began coming here as well and it’s been a positive experience for all of us! I am especially grateful to the dental assistant, Lala, and Dr. Varno—it really is amazing that I come away feeling like I’ve had a thorough examination without it taking forever. Every time I’ve been, they have been right on schedule and pulled me and my family back for our appointment just shortly after we arrive. As a busy mom driving from over an hour away for my appointments, this is really huge to me! I am also grateful to Dr. Varno and the front office for answering my endless questions! I had an old amalgam filling removed and replaced with a high quality ceramic filling just over a week ago, and prior to the appointment they clearly outlined the benefits and risks, and were willing to answer any questions and concerns I had. Along with being an exceptional practice, they also have premium prices. It is important to note that the cost will be higher for any service, but that also comes with higher professionalism, a biological approach, and a personalized experience. The high price tag is also why I feel comfortable (and like it’s necessary) to ask any question I have, so I know what I’m getting into before I commit with my wallet! :) Thank you VBD for putting your best foot forward for this practice!

Dr. Hart ane her team removed all mercury for my wife and I and the process was smooth and exceptionally gentle and well done. Dr Hart’s staff is equally exceptional. Experiencia fantástica: I had four teeth pulled and 3 ceramic implants put in. I'm really happy with how it turned out. Everything healed well, feels good and looks good. I also had x rays and cleanings, those went well too. The staff is great and very competent. The office is nice and I never had to wait more than 5 or 10 minutes to be seen. I would definitely come back.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a root canal done at my regular dentist about 2 years ago which had an infection. About 6 months after the procedure the infection came back or possibly never went away. I experienced many health issues in 2025 that could not be explained. All my labs were normal, MRI on neck and sinus were negative. I was having strange feelings in my head, fluctuating ear pressure, sinus issues and was sick 3 times in less than a year and a half, and I rarely get sick. I had been researching biological dentists for a while and knew that I should have not done the root canal. I decided to schedule a root canal extraction with bone graph and implant at Virginia Biological Dentistry. Mostly due to the fact that the procedures done at a biological dentist were much more thorough and natural. The cleaning out of the root canal was the main concern. Standard dentists only inject a bleach type solution which does not get into all the areas needed. Biological uses ozone gas and laser to make sure the infection is eliminated. I noticed within a couple weeks after the procedure, my issues started improving drastically. Within a month they were all gone. Sinus and ear issues resolved and corrected the feelings I was having. I did not realize what an infection lingering in a root canal could cause. The staff and the dentist were amazing and very accommodating.

The dentist takes a comprehensive approach to oral health, looking beyond the teeth to understand the overall health of the mouth and its connection to the rest of the body. My ceramic implant was done beautifully and matches my natural teeth perfectly. The attention to detail and commitment to both aesthetics and function exceeded my expectations. Having previously experienced a conventional dental implant, I was amazed by the difference in recovery. With the conventional implant, I had significant throbbing and discomfort for several days afterward. In contrast, the biological dental implant procedure resulted in minimal pain and a much more comfortable recovery experience. The office also performs bacterial testing and provides personalized recommendations to improve oral health, which I found incredibly valuable. Rather than simply treating symptoms, they work to identify and address underlying issues affecting oral health. One thing I especially appreciate is that they work with Cherry financing, making treatment more affordable and accessible. They also submit insurance claims on your behalf, which helps simplify the process. The entire staff is caring, friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Everyone takes the time to answer questions and make you feel comfortable throughout treatment. If you're looking for a biological dentist who truly cares about your overall health and provides exceptional care, I highly recommend this practice.

Milena and Dr. Varno were so patient with both of my boys. My oldest was very nervous about certain things during the appointment. They listened to his concerns and were able to achieve what they needed to by changing a few things to fit his needs. I am SO thankful for them and I am still in shock that they were able to do as much as they did with the 3 year old! They are so kind and patient, I highly recommend making them your family dentist!

I found Dr. Hart's practice and traveled 2 hours for a consultation. Over the past year, I have had an extraction, implant , several fillings and a crown placed. Each visit has been a positive experience. Dr. Hart and her team are committed to both patient wellness and comfort.

Experiencia negativa: Both the dentist and assistant hit my front tooth twice each (4x total) in my first visit with them! This was by mistake I’m assuming but They were NOT careful. This was both when they were just taking pictures at the beginning (by the assistant with the metal tool she was using), and when they were doing my 1 filling (by the dentist with her tools). I have a healthy mouth and had a filling needing to be replaced because it had worn away. This was not on my front tooth and after the dentist hit them twice, she started to be more careful and put her hand over what she hit. They both apologized after each hit but Now I have microtears that I didn’t have before on my front tooth. They were not careful and I’m deeply saddened by this experience bcuz my teeth are important to me. I both don’t recommend this place due to the lack of being careful in one’s mouth when they do this everyday.. but also several other things have ended up turning me away altogether that people need to know about. First cleaning available (to schedule) is in September. Appointment policy for booking any appointment - you have to pay for half of the appointment upfront, and if you have to cancel (even weeks prior) it is non refundable. You also pay for the total or close to the total of the appointment for cancelling ahead of time or rescheduling. Crazy that they have this policy in the first place, why? Because they rescheduled my first appointment last minute. I had my first appt on a Monday and they canceled the Friday prior. Mind you they also knew I had what I thought was an emergency filling needing to be done and they rescheduled it. Another reason which should have been a red flag enough was not hearing back at all even after a week and half for their new patient line. I hadn’t heard from them even though I left voicemails everyday for a week and emailed trying to schedule my first appt. When it had been a week and half of no reply, I resulted to call their existing patient number and got through right away to schedule. Took a lot of my time. If you have luxury policies and prices you need to have luxury service. That is too many red flags and I’m saddened by what transpired. Find another holistic dentist

Even after all of the dental work, she was very excited to go for her cleaning recently. She even dressed up for her "friends" at the dentist in her special dress and earrings. Thank you to the entire staff for making her experience a pleasant one, despite the dental work over 4 visits. As a grandmother, I appreciate the true holistic approach to dentistry, not filling my grandchild with chemicals and poisons. Thank you.

I have not gone to the dentist in 10 years because of dental anxiety (due to bad experiences) and I deal with vertigo so I can’t lay down in the chair. They listen to all of your concerns and they worked around all of that giving me the best care. Jennifer, the biological hygienist, took her time to explain everything to me before she did my procedure. She was so gentle and no scraping like at a regular dentist office. I couldn’t believe it when she was done! Dr Hart was amazing and just the sweetest. She was very thorough going over all of my pictures and the different options of treatment. Answered all of my questions and I never felt rushed! This office truly cares about your health and wants to help you. You truly feel this at every step. I can’t recommend them enough.

I created a long check list of what I was looking for in a dentist. After calling many, many offices between NJ and NC (my traveling path), Dr Hart’s office checked off every box on my list!!!! It was like finding a unicorn!!! This office is by no means close to where I live, but they are totally worth the drive!!! I am so grateful I found them. Dr Hart, Dr Varno, Melina, Lala, Jennifer, Natalie, Sherri, Mathias……absolutely incredible staff! I know it’s an old reference, but I feel like Norm from “Cheers” when I walk into the office. Experiencia fantástica: I had not been to a dentist since ce 2019 and my front teeth had started chipping with beginning cavities. I was so embarrassed to go to a dentist and just didnt know where to go but found Dr Hart online as a Biological Dentist. It noted that she uses ceramic materials for fillings, inlays, crown and even for implants, using NO METAL in the mouth plus a low level imaging policy about x-rays...both concerns to me. Both Dr. Hart and her very capable assistant were very non-judgmental and accepting of me and EAGER to help me "get my smile back". She suggested the 4 front uppers be capped since they were severely decayed. Dr. Hart was extremely gentle and explained every procedure well. Both visits to accomplish this went well...first for initial prep and temporarily and then to apply permanent. The color was matched PERFECTLY and they are set perfectly and my teeth looks beautiful now!...and i am so proud to smile! I am so glad I found Dr. Hart and her wonderful staff! I feel she very conscientiously gives the best care that she can and yes, she does truly have a ❤️!

I will be going back for an implant and for the first time in my life I am looking forward to completing my dental work because I am finally in good hands! My first time in the office was to assess a few problem teeth- Dr. Varno decided some fillings and a ceramic inlay was the best treatment for me. This was great news because previous traditional dentists had suggested a root canal which I really wanted to avoid. During this visit, Dr. Varno and the assistant staff were extremely patient. They answered all of my questions and never made me feel like I was being a bother. Additionally, all of the front desk staff has been so sweet! During my most recent visit for a routine cleaning, I had a question about some pain I was experiencing. Dr. Hart was able to squeeze in a consult with me, made an adjustment to my night guard, and that resolved my pain. I really appreciated that she made the time to care for me, as I live about 2 hours away. My insurance does not participate with this office, but their out of pocket costs were less than I anticipated. I feel lucky to have found this office, and I look forward to future visits :)

I love that they use up-to-date technologies to know exactly what is going on with my teeth & to provide the most current solutions for prevention or issues I am having. Because of my anxiety about dental appts, I really appreciate how kind & caring all the staff is…and how they make suggestions for prevention (oral care, supplements, etc) rather than simply dealing with problems when they come up. She uses non-toxic products for cleanings & for dental procedures. Dr Hart & her staff have gone above & beyond to answer my questions in person, over the phone, & via email. I have also worked w/ Dr. Hart on correcting my bite/tooth alignment w/ clear aligners (like Invisalign). It’s an amazing & simple process. No need to go into the office for checkups…Dr. Hart uses a program that utilizes AI for home checkups. It has been so effective & so easy. Experiencia positiva: I brought my 9 year old son in for an appointment to get information about the Myobrace because I would prefer him not to have metal in his mouth for expanding his jaw. Everyone was kind through the process of getting X-rays. We were told that he’s too old for Myobrace and a traditional expander through an orthodontist was recommended due to his age and that it would be more successful. I was disappointed to hear this after all of my research indicated it could still be beneficial. We were given a recommendation for a myofascial specialist to help with tongue placement. If you have considered biological dentistry that addresses your whole health..don't want any longer and go make an appointment. They will also bill dental insurance..so this is adorable for everyone! My young daughter also had a fantastic appointment and looks forward to going back. They are great with kids.

Experiencia negativa: I had a root canal and two crowns, I studied naturopathic medicine and learned a lot about root canals, implants etc especially the autoimmune conditions such as mine of hashimoto's, plus hypothyroidism. I would not recommend her only because she don't not understand implants are just as worse as crowns and they cause autoimmune conditions such a as this when putting that into your bone of your jaws. I ended up going back to my dentist and just have insurance cover my tooth extraction of the crown and have partials put in. Best decision of my life not going here and studying more on the naturopathic fields because now I'm almost off my thyroid medication after 25 plus years of having an autoimmune condition from hashimoto's that was caused by the root canal. Implants from this lady would've made me worse or never have healed. Never trust anyone even if they are so call " natural" there is massive difference between naturopathic and biological dentist. Not to mention it's not covered by any insurance for doing basic dentist and dental surgeon Technics. Really was hoping for the naturopathic dentist knowledge to be shown here for the 400 dollars I spent.

Even as far as biological type dentists go, they are not the closest to me either, I go to them because of the combination of methodology of care and patient relationships they cultivate.

Experiencia negativa: First I want to start with the positive. I want to say that my experience with the dental hygienist was excellent. She was very knowledgeable, professional, and did a great job on my cleaning. Now for the negative: I have been dealing with a painful tooth for a few weeks before getting my evaluation. I have a very demanding schedule and I travel for work so finding time to do something like this takes a lot of effort. I needed to schedule a cleaning at the same time a repair of the tooth. So I worked my schedule around the doctors and made sure we could do both in the same day. I could have done them separate and had the procedure the next week and the cleaning another day but my schedule is way too full. So I was able to find a date that I could work with the Doctor. The only problem was I had to wait another 3 weeks bc of the 4th of July holiday. So I thought it would be fine and I would be able to deal with the pain for that amount of time. So I scheduled the appointment and in those three weeks I ate very little and had to take a few remedies to keep the pain under control. The day arrives and I go into my appointment and they tell me that I am only scheduled for a cleaning and no other appointment was scheduled. I was furious! I waited 3 weeks in pain to get this done and moved my entire schedule around to be here all day and now I can’t get it done? So then I get told they could give me the next available in 3 weeks! I’m sorry but this is unacceptable. My time is just as valuable as the doctors. Now I have to take time away from work which will cost me money to come in for this makeup appointment. Not to mention all the money they would charge me, and let me tell you they are not cheap. I don’t know if my appointment was bumped for someone else or they were just negligent and never actually scheduled me, either way this was infuriating. If it wasn’t for the fact that I already spent all the time and money on all the scans I would have just left. I understand mistakes happen but they couldn’t even offer me anything to make up for the mistake. I suffered for 3 weeks to wait for this appointment. Now I have to suffer through another 3 weeks?! Where is my compensation for this mistake? Once this procedure is complete I am searching for another dentist because this fallout has showed me that my experience is not important and my time is not valuable. It’s easy for them to just reschedule me and accept my money when they have time but no consideration for my time at work and my loss of income. They take half the procedure cost as down payment and will keep it if I had to cancel but where is my compensation for loss of income due to their mistake? It sounds laughable until it’s you.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Hart had originally replaced the old amalgams on the right side, and then I moved from the area. I decided, five years later, to finish the project and traveled from Roanoke to have them replaced by someone who knows how to properly handle the toxic material. Dr. Hart has since added to her practice and is specializing in restorative procedures. Dr. Varo is now doing the more routine work. I am very happy with my experience with Dr. Hannah Varo. She and the dental assistants were very caring and concerned that I was comfortable and relaxed during the procedure. I was impressed with the modern equipment and the "one visit" porcelain cap that was used to fix a fractured tooth. I am returning to have the rest of my old filliings replaced in a few months, and have no apprehension about the visit! Again, I was very pleased with my experience and I can highly recommend Dr. Varo and her staff.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr Hart and her team are extremely caring and intelligent individuals. They use state of the art technology, which aided in doing the best job. I was supplied with head phones with relaxing music, able to watch the tv screen that’s on the ceiling showing relaxing animal life in the ocean and given a cozy blanket. I was able to have my amalgam/mercury fillings taken out and replaced with health substances. If you want an almost spa like experience at the dentist, this is the place to go!

Experiencia fantástica: I found Dr. Hart after researching a more holistic solution to a chronic tooth pain I had for years in a root canal/crown molar. I wish I had found her sooner and never done the root canal to begin with. Dr. Hart and her team were extremely compassionate and caring throughout the entire process. I have anxiety about any tooth procedures after several past traumatic experiences spanning decades and the team at Dr. Hart's office understands this and made me feel as comfortable as possible throughout the implant procedure. I am writing this review the day after my tooth extraction/implant surgery with minimal pain and hardly any swelling! I was even able to get through the surgery with conscious sedation. Yes it’s been a year but Dr Hart made sure my infection that I had for over 4 years from a prior dentist who didn’t take care of it properly was gone and then the bone grafts started and she made sure that they took before starting the implant process. Everything was done meticulously and the results have changed my life. No more pain in my jaw which radiated to my ear. She removed it and I am on the mend with my implant post and already feel much better. She is very gentle and professional as all her staff.

Experiencia negativa: This dentist refused to replace 7 fillings containing specks of mercury amalgam. Virginia Biological Dentistry advertises expertise in replacing mercury amalgam fillings. I specifically went there to get every speck of mercury amalgam removed from my teeth. However, while reviewing my x-rays, the dentist Dr. Hart said she doesn't remove amalgam specks and told her front staff to tell me she "can't do the work" and gave no explanation, even when I asked. They refunded the $698 I had spent, so I gave 2 stars instead of 1 star. The bad news is I wasted two days and drove 200+ miles for two dental appointments (x-rays and consultation). I am now resuming my search for a qualified SMART-certified dentist to do this work. UPDATE (8/30/2024): I found Dr. Hwang at Evergreen Dental Wellness in Annandale, VA to do my dental work. He found specks in 11 teeth and did a great job removing the specks and fixing my teeth. It was an even longer drive (90 miles each way), but well worth it.

In my quest to find the “best” dentist for the work, I found Dr. Hart to be highly recommended by other dentists as well as within my online research. I also realized that not all dentist are created equal, qualified, or up to the challenge of safely removing mercury fillings. Not only is Dr. Hart preeminently qualified and certified by the IAOMT to safely remove mercury fillings, but she combines this with holistic, homeopathic, and cutting edge technologies that result in the absolute best experience and results. I also found Dr. Hart to be the most engaging and compassionate dentist. She is a great listener with zeal to provide you the best in dental care. Further, she is engaged in your overall supporting health and forthright in her explanation of required protocols. In the end I had 12 mercury fillings removed by Dr. Hart. Since my move here 4 years ago, I’ve continued to see my dentist there, but now with the COVID-19, I didn’t want to make the trip. Needless to say, I was very nervous about seeing someone new. From the first phone call, Jessica at the front desk put me right at ease. The office is very peaceful and set up to be as safe as possible. My initial exam was thorough and gentle. Dr. Hart seems very kind and knowledgeable. Her perspective is about how everything works together and she explained things clearly. No work was actually done today, since this was an initial assessment, but so far so good.
