Experiencia fantástica: We had such an amazing experience with Dr. Zev and the entire team! My 6-year-old daughter had an infected tooth and was in quite a bit of pain, and they were able to get her in quickly and take care of her. They were incredibly patient, kind, and gentle with her, especially knowing how anxious she was. They made her feel comfortable and safe throughout the entire experience. She even left saying, “My doctor is so sweet!” which says everything coming from a nervous 6-year-old. I was also incredibly grateful for how affordable her care was. Another dental office had previously quoted us around $3,000 for the dental work she needed, so I was expecting a huge expense. Dr. Zev’s office was able to address what she needed at a much more reasonable and affordable cost without sacrificing the quality of her care. That was such a relief as a parent. They also did a wonderful job fixing my son’s chipped tooth, and both kids had their cleanings done as well. Every part of our experience was positive, from getting my daughter in quickly when she was hurting to the way they interacted with both of my children. As a parent, it means so much to find a dentist who provides excellent care, is affordable, and genuinely makes your children feel comfortable and cared for. We are so grateful to Dr. Zev and the entire staff and would absolutely recommend them to other families!

Experiencia negativa: You couldn’t pay me to use these guys and do not recommend them. After my kids experience here they had the courage to send me a review request. Dr. Zev is barely likable and very arrogant, I have had many friends who haven’t returned because of the personality of Zev. I was also instructed not to see Zev by people connected to him within the dental profession but unfortunately due to timing we did not have that luxury. They say they care about the kids, but the bottom line (money), seems to be Zev’s concern. We had a miscommunication of appointment times, and then refused to treat my son and asked us to not return, I sent them a picture of the business card their secretary wrote the time and date of the appointment which was the time I showed up with my daughter. I paid these goons thousands of dollars in cash to fix my daughter’s teeth. Zev proceeded to speak down to me in some awkward parent meeting, which was off putting considering I am a very capable and responsible parent. Very poor service and I can be sure I will never recommend these guys. Also the guy below mentioning how they do a surprise call and the other partner is secretly listening then chimes in is 100% valid. They did the same with me Mark calls me, and me thinking I am speaking to Mark, Zev Chimes in. It’s a very shady line. There has been many breeches of patient privacy as well as trust.

When my daughter had a cavity and tooth fracture, Dr. Mark took the time to carefully explain what needed to be done and was able to get us an apt the following week! During the operation Dr. Mark and his assiatant were gentle, patient, and very friendly to our little girl. They work with care and compassion! Highly recommend!!!

My kids have been seen here for six years now and trust Dr. Herring and his staff with their dental needs. He did an amazing job on my youngest daughter’s fillings after COVID, was very kind and patient with her through the process. My oldest had an incident a few years back chipping her two front teeth. Dr. Herring accommodated us same day, reassured her as she was very upset, and reconstructed her teeth. Years later, she remembers having a great experience here and requests to go back for her dental care anytime we are back in town visiting family. Dr. Herring is our #1 trusted dentist and we will continue to choose his services tenfold!!

My son can be very strong-willed, so I knew how important it was that this be a positive experience. From the very beginning, everything was handled beautifully. The office thoroughly explained the process, answered all of our questions, and made sure we knew exactly how to prepare him and what to expect. But what truly blew me away was Dr. Zev himself. Watching him work was like watching a master of his craft. I honestly don’t have the words to describe how impressive he and his team were. The procedure was incredibly efficient, yet somehow he simultaneously put on an entertaining, theatrical performance that completely captivated my son. It was equal parts dentistry, magic show, and child psychology. I never imagined I would describe a cavity-filling appointment as an amazing experience, but here we are! Dr. Zev isn’t just an exceptional pediatric dentist—he’s a magician, a child whisperer, and an absolute expert at what he does. Experiencia fantástica: We are a military family and have lived in six different locations with our children and this has been my favorite pediatric dentist all of them. The facility is great. The staff is really wonderful with the children and I have three kids, and they can all be seen at the same time rather than back-to-back appointments.

Clean facility, vibrant rooms and tvs for the kids as they get the work done. The staff is wonderful and the dentists are so kind and gentle with the kids!

My 4 year old daughter is not diagnosed autistic but we’re certain she is on the spectrum so she struggles with cooperation when she is scared or tired and that was definitely the case today. The dentist and all of the staff were extremely kind every step of the way- from the brief exam and brushing he was able to do to the woman who did the treatment consultation with me. I was struggling with feeling some mom guilt over her cavities and she was extremely compassionate which was very much appreciated. I have had poor experiences in the past in other states with other pediatric dental offices so I had some anxiety over bringing her in knowing she had a few cavities but it’s obvious that the staff here really do care about their patients as well as their families. Highly recommend this place especially if your kids are neurodivergent.

Experiencia fantástica: We love Southern Smiles! We found them by word of mouth when we moved here several years ago and have stuck with them ever since. The dentist is so patient with my special needs kiddo, it has helped with his dental anxiety so much. Be warned though, the address on Google does not work with Google Maps! You will wind up in the middle of nowhere if you follow those directions. Instead, use "1486 NC-24 #87, Cameron, NC 28326" (the address for the dance academy next door).

The staff is perfect with children, accommodating to mom, and the facility thought of everything - kids doors, tv in the ceiling when the chair reclines, dinosaur toothbrushes, books in the waiting room. I wish I could give ten stars.

Our son had a breakthrough today with some help from his friends Madison and Dr.Mark. Not only did he willingly sit in the chair for the first time EVER, but he also used the electric tooth brush prophy angle for the first time with the suction as well! To say we are proud would be an understatement. Thank you to his friends for their patience. They wanted him to try it just as much as we did and I could see the pride on their faces as well. 10/10!

Experiencia fantástica: Southern smiles is truly a wonderful facility. The entire staff is delightful. They care about their patients. They’re thorough in treatment plans and actions. They do a great job explaining things to the kids and parents alike. I also love that they always discuss the finances upfront, so you have a choice as to whether you have everything done then or if you may need to space apts out so you can space out the expenses as well. They’re just all round incredibly considerate. The facility itself is in pristine condition as well.

Experiencia negativa: Wow this office just keeps showing how hungry they are for $$$$$$!!!! I didn’t set up the appt, they said has to be paid before “surgery” basically. They refuse to use gas or anything else. Yet me child lays still for them, but they are very off of putting! To the point on the day of the cavity find, all of a sudden we had 3 dentist come up back to back. They had 0 idea another DR. had already been to see us. HOSPITAL CALL? Plus the actual hospital calls to tell you to use them it’s $750! I didn’t set up an appt yet for this as it’s a couple days before Christmas, plus I had a bad feeling! I started looking for other dentist randomly due to my guy saying something isn’t right! Then this text, yes my feeling was right! Don’t worry though I wasn’t planning to come back for the appointment y’all scheduled without my approval. It’s all a scare tactic, make a parent feel like they missed an appt etc then try to cancel them to get $$$$. Thanks but no thanks! EDIT THURSDAY: why are they sending me this? Yet not responding to the appt they made for my child, and charging for a hospital call, yet the hospital calling for the same thing? This didn’t need to be a hospital call at all. This place is laughable!

Experiencia positiva: I’ve been bringing my son to this pediatric dentist for a while, and the dental team is truly excellent ; caring, patient, and very professional. Unfortunately, the receptionist I spoke with a week ago was extremely rude. When I spoke to her in Spanish, she responded with a very dry ‘tell me’, instead of a polite ‘yes, how can I help you?’. That attitude is unacceptable, especially in a pediatric setting. In a pediatric dental office, parents are often stressed or worried, and kindness is not optional , it’s essential. I strongly recommend customer service training and workshops focused on serving with empathy and compassion, because families deserve to be treated with respect from the moment they call. The dental team is wonderful, and the front desk should reflect that same level of care.”Now it gives me anxiety to call and for her to treat me the way she treated me.

Dr. Herring was so nice and didn't just explain things to me, but also to my 6yo in a way he could understand. I think this made him not so scared. To top it off my son could not get over getting to watch cartoons while they looked at his teeth!! Definitely 10/10 recommend!!

The tooth had to be extracted, and Dr. Zev and his staff explained everything to me thoroughly on what to expect. They were incredibly patient, kind, and fast-acting. I highly recommend!

Experiencia positiva: We have been established patients for a while. Usually I have no complaints. Today I received a call 2 hours before our appointment requesting information and paperwork. The person who called me seemed to not know any information about my children nor was she very pleasant. Why this wasn’t asked or taken care of when I made the appointment is unclear. After going back and forth with the receptionist who called me, I then had to personally call for a referral which I didn’t think we needed since we are existing patients. I then called back and spoke to someone different and was able to still retain our appointment time. This was stressful for our family, because we moved around our schedule to fit this into this week, when that wasn’t even what I asked for when I called initially. We then showed up 5 min early for our appointment (not routine care). The waiting room was full. We sat in the waiting room for 40 minutes before we were called back. That was after I said something to the front desk 15 min after our initial appointment time. Seems they worked us into an overbooked schedule and I wasn’t even asking to be worked in this week. I do really like both of the providers that are in the office. They take their time and really care about the children. Because they are well liked, they are a busy practice. Maybe our experience today was a fluke - but I wasn’t planning on spending nearly 2 hours at the dentist.

My daughter broke her adult tooth, and not only did Dr. Herring take amazing care of her and ensure her tooth looked like new, but he came in after a long day of surgery, on a day the clinc was closed ,to ensure she was taken care of in a timely manner!! Great dentist, and great staff all around!

Experiencia negativa: Most of my experience here has been positive. But I warn you if your kid has ASD do not see Emily. She lacks bedside manner. She has no patience for autistic children. She refused to fill my son's tooth. She did not present me with any options for treatment. Instead she insisted he just needed to floss to prevent the cavity from getting worse. He already had 2 teeth filled and one pulled by Dr Mark. He was fantastic and patient. Very good with children. I understand it can be difficult to manage children with ASD but being short tempered does not help the situation. I will never let Emily touch my kids teeth again.

This office was recommended by a friend so I called this morning after my daughter woke up with a swollen face and tooth pain. They got us in within the hour, extracted two baby teeth which were infected, and prescribed antibiotics. Super fast service, kind staff, great with kids! Really nice office.

Despite his general toddler pushback, they are patient with him and his curiosities. They are patient with my endless questions as well and explain things concisely. I am happy to have had Dr. Zev and his hygienist team involved in my son’s health and only hope I can find as good a team elsewhere when we move.

Experiencia fantástica: Southern Smiles has been a blessing to deal with. My son suffered a injury back in August 2024 as the result of reactions to a Gardasil shot. He fainted fell and broke his two front teeth our primary dentist did what they could and I'm thankful for them. The next steps we were referred out no one would see him. I searched for months. I finally found Southern Smiles, they are an hour and a half away from us. I would've went wherever was needed. But from the very first phone call we were met with nothing but kindness and compassion. DR Mark is great with his patient's from explaining to making sure they are comfortable and finding a way to fix the problem. He and his staff truly care about what they do. We will forever be thankful for them.

Southern Smiles and their team take amazing care of my kids, doing everything possible to ease their anxiety to the point there was no anxiety on our last visit! I am so pleased with their skill, attention to detail, ensuring that I (the Mom) understand what the X-rays show and the conditions of their teeth, efforts to make each visit personalized…down to the kid size door for them to enter the exam area! Highly impressed and ever so thankful!

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Mark is the most amazing dentist that ever existed! He has been caring for my three sons since they were young, including my son with special needs. I travel to him an hour to ensure my sons have continuity in care. They don't worry or fear the dentist. I trust that his recommendations fit my son's needs and nothing more. I can't recommend his care. Also, he is bilingual! When I spoke more Spanish to my sons when they were younger, he spoke to them in Spanish. He always met them where they were! He is just phenomenal!

Experiencia fantástica: Really glad this dental office was recommended to my family once our previous dentist wasn’t working out. We went in after scheduling an appointment but the appointment was not found in their system. The office was still able to see my daughters at that time with no issues. The two hygienist taking care of us were so sweet with my 6 & 4 year old. The dentist was informative, gentle and welcoming as well. Very happy we made the switch to this awesome pediatric dentist! This is how an office should be.. kind and welcoming when children tend to be a little nervous about a dental visit. Will definitely recommend this location to any and everyone.
