Experiencia fantástica: My experience at Western Dental truly meant more to me than just a regular dental visit. I came in feeling nervous and overwhelmed, REALLY BAD TOOTH PAIN especially because I had been dealing with discomfort and anxiety about my teeth. From the moment I walked through the doors, I felt a sense of relief. The staff greeted me warmly, and the environment felt calm, clean, and welcoming. Dr. Khalifa Farroukh was not only professional but genuinely compassionate. He took his time sitting with me and listening to my concerns without rushing or dismissing how I felt. That alone made such a difference. He explained every step before doing anything, making sure I understood my options and what to expect. I didn’t feel like just another patient in a chair — I felt heard, respected, and cared for. His gentle approach during treatment helped ease my anxiety, and he constantly checked in to make sure I was comfortable. You can truly tell he cares about his patients beyond just the procedure. His assistant, Amandeep, was such a blessing during my visit. She was kind, attentive, and incredibly reassuring. She helped calm my nerves with her gentle presence and made sure I was comfortable every step of the way. The way she worked alongside Dr. Garroukh showed real teamwork and dedication. Together, they made what could have been a stressful situation feel safe and manageable. I also want to sincerely thank Dominique Gonzalez for her kindness and support. From the administrative side to patient care coordination, she made everything feel smooth and stress-free. She answered my questions patiently and made sure I understood everything clearly. It meant so much to feel supported not just during treatment, but throughout the entire process. What touched me most about this experience was how human it felt. They didn’t just focus on my teeth — they cared about me as a person. I walked in anxious and uncomfortable, but I walked out feeling relieved, grateful, and genuinely thankful for the care I received. I wholeheartedly recommend Western Dental, especially Dr. Khalifa Garroukh, Amandeep, and Dominique Gonzalez. Their compassion, professionalism, and kindness truly made a difference in my experience, and I am so thankful for them.

Experiencia negativa: BEWARE. We didn’t listen to the reviews and gave this place a chance. BIG mistake now we owe these scammers thousands of dollars, while still needing to go somewhere else and pay a professional to fix what they did. After this dentist tried to fix 2 fillings, no joke, 3x!!! It’s still not correct and still in pain. Truly don’t know how this place hasn’t been turned in for malpractice

I’m low income, and I’m sure they are underpaid/work for commission: because wow, front desk act like car sales men. I’m like we’re discussing my dental health. Tallying up my dental plan like I’m buying a house. Talking about you can get care credit… I’m like be in debt for a one time process I’ll have to probably repeat in 6 months no thank you

Experiencia negativa: I scheduled this morning for an emergency wisdom tooth extraction due to having extreme pain. They scheduled me for an appt and told me to arrive 15 minutes early for paperwork. The office was closed she. I arrived so I waited. When it opened the receptionist told me that they did not do same day appointments even though it was their office who scheduled the appointment. This is extremely frustrating when going through a dental emergency and should be communicated properly.

Experiencia negativa: I would recommend to the person reading this, go elsewhere. The receptionists will not acknowledge your presence. You’ll be standing, waiting to be checked in. The problem has always been the receptionists from my experience. One of the receptionists was supposed to send an authorization request to Medi-cal weeks ago. I called Medi-cal many times for two weeks, they stated they hadn’t received anything from western dental and stated once the request is sent, it’s received almost immediately. I called this location and spoke to the very same lady who was supposed to send the request, she stated she had send it a while ago. She placed me on hold for a long time, anyhow, I called Medi-cal afterwards and lo and behold, they had the request. Turns out, she sent it while she had me on hold, two weeks after the initial call asking for the request.

Experiencia negativa: ⭐☆☆☆☆ Very disappointing experience I waited for over an hour past my appointment time without being called, even though several people who arrived after me were attended first. It felt extremely unorganized and unprofessional. On top of that, they kept insisting that I schedule an appointment for braces, even after I clearly told them multiple times that I already had braces and didn’t need them. It honestly felt like they were just trying to push unnecessary treatments. To make things worse, they don’t send any reminders or confirmations for appointments, which makes it really inconvenient. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place — poor communication, long wait times, and a pushy attitude toward unnecessary services.

Experiencia positiva: I have been coming here since 2009. Lost a few years in the middle due to living elsewhere. I generally am pleased- I like the staff. And sure, sometimes it takes a while once you are in the chair to get started but it's clean and I can laugh with the staff. The problem I have, that frustrates me so much, is when I make my appt and then it gets changed. Without talking to me. Ok, the Dr won't be here that day, call me and let me know so I can reschedule it. Often it is put on days or times that I cannot do. Actually always. I book the appt to days and times I can be here. It's not a window to be seen within. And I work an hour + away. So moving it without my consent to a time I am at work? Or a time I would have to kiss a whole day? This has happened so often that I am considering billing the office for the times they make me miss work. My appt today was for 20 mins ago. No one is here. No one is answering the phone. Left a message for customer to call back and when the CSR called she moved it, she told me the office isn't even open on Wednesdays. So I have now wasted my entire morning for an appt that was never going to happen anyways! (The time they changed today to, without asking me, was also for today!) Anyways... my point is... be prepared to battle for your appts to actually happen.

Experiencia negativa: Scheduled appointment for Monday, got a call saying no one is available and needs to be re-scheduled. Told them I'm only available on Monday, and even confirmed it for next Monday. Got another call saying the appointment is for Thursday and that they don't open Monday. Lol what, didn't even bother anymore at that point.

Experiencia negativa: Got here at 3 for gen then ortho. No Gen doc in ... okay.. then wait till 4 to been seen by ortho. They sat me down looked at my teeth, said I'll be getting a mold and braces off at next apt. I ask to use the bathroom, come back they cleaned my room thinking I was gone.. then they lose me, im the last person and they dont know why im there. They find me after multiple people ask my name. Get my new bands back on just for them to realize they didn't take my molds... lady is obviously frustrated even makes the comment to another ortho "really, right now?" Shoves it in my mouth without explaining anything causing me alot of pain because my tooth is broken (hence the gen apt) and it was extremely cold! Some lady comes and asks what color band i want, then grabs it with bare hands. I look and the tools are filthy covered in what looks like rust, waterstains and some gummy looking peices stuck to the handles...After the mold she puts the wire back in and stabes me with the wire and less than a minute later pinches my lip with the tool. Nothing g but bad experience here so glad this process is almost over. This isn't the first time I've had a bad experience and gives me anxiety every time my appointment comes up

Experiencia fantástica: The Western Dental on Shield is the place to go see a dentist. I had the chance to have 2 great doctors working on me but Dr. Mohammed left to other place. Now, I have a new doctor name Dr. Al-Hindi, Omar M. OMG he's the best gental doctor ever. I had to do a prep for my crown & when he gave me the shot to numb my gum..it didn't hurt at all..After a few days after the prep.. it Start to hurt so I went in & he prescribed me medication & now its getting better. He's really great with me..He's gentle & let me know everything he's doing. Plus, his tech is amazing as well..she gental & very friendly. Anyway, I hope Dr. Al-Hindi, Omar M will not move to other places..I have find my favorite dentist doctor.

Experiencia negativa: This place was very unprofessional. The front desk workers were literally talking about another patient business out loud and laughing about it. I am pretty sure that's against OSHA. Extremely rude. I have never been to a dentist atmosphere like this. There was one with glasses that had a tattoo on her neck she was annoyed that I asked her to confirm something with the doctor for me. I Would never recommend this place to anyone.

Experiencia negativa: HORRIBLE SERVICE. And I mean the worst you will experience. I set an appointment, at 9:30am, that they said was important. I went to the office 15 minute ahead of my appointment and the office was closed even though it's opened at 8. When I called the customer support they informed me that they set another appointment a month later without my knowledge.they will message you every month that my appointment is coming up, even though i never have been having one, but when i actually do have one they will not message me and do it behind my back. All I got was a bunch of useless "sorry" and "I would be the same way". What does that do for me. Last two times I was there 2 different doctors (I use doctors lightly because they are unprofessional) gave me different responses about my teeth. One said I have no cavities and I have been doing good, then I get another say that I have cavities and that I need to take better care of them. Only thing they are eager to do for you is to tell you how much you are going to pay. This leads me to believe they barely know what they are doing. Avoid this place. Go somewhere else

I was seen by Dr. Omar, he thoroughly explained my treatment plan and made sure to answer any doubts I had. Anna who took my X-rays made sure I was comfortable the whole time, I really appreciated that. The Hygienist G, who did my cleaning was very professional and took his time to make sure I left their office with a clean mouth. I would definitely recommend this place.

Experiencia negativa: Worst experience! Places like this with horrible front desk should not be in business in working in the medical field. I come from a background in the medical field and when I tell you never in my 7 years working in this field seen such rudeness from someone working in front desk . She told me “if you don’t like it then go somewhere else” all I asked was for an appointment for the next day because I had a horrible tooth pain and had left work because I had an appointment. Once I get there they say “oh we can’t see you because the dentist is leaving early” they didn’t call me or they didn’t communicate that to me at all. I could have stayed at work. I asked for an appointment the next day and after telling me two time frames and I agreed to them she said they actually couldn’t because of blocks for new patients. I did get upset because if those times are not available please don’t tell me they’re available. I understand this field can be stressful but at the same time when someone working in front desk has 0 compassion for others and keep cutting off their patient when they’re trying to speak that’s unacceptable. I don’t make google reviews at all but this one struck something in me that I felt the need to tell you if you can please go somewhere else.

Experiencia negativa: Avoid these scammers who have NON REFUNDABLE LOANS but don't provide services. Absolutely one of the worst experiences I've had with a medical provider. Quick to start billing me for services not received yet, but impossible to get ahold of to get these services. Update 4/3/2025 Their response is absolutely worthless because my comment was I can't get ahold of them, and they replied "contact us." What a sick joke. I am being billed, but not receiving services. I did speak to someone on February 12th about cancellation, which they acknowledged, but never did. I would urge you to stay as far away from this company as you can. They are scammers. They sign you up and bill you but don't provide any service or answer the phone. Do not take out a loan as apparently the loans are "non-refundable." So they can stick you with a bill, refuse to communicate or provide services, and you still have to pay. Care Credit (Synchrony Bank) is part of this theft and scam. DO NOT TRUST THEM.

Experiencia negativa: Western Dental on E Shields My daughter has had two appts for tooth pain and was turned away twice 1st appt was confirmed She drove over 1 hr away Was on time only to be told there was no Dentist and her appt would have to be rescheduled They didnt triage her nor did they care after she told them that she was in pain and it was urgent she be seen 2nd appt Again scheduled with their call center Confirmed Drove over an hr away and was on time She has tooth pain again x 5 days As soon as she walked in the lady asked her if she had an appt and she said yes She was told to wait that she would go ck if the Dentist was behind She comes back to tell her she would have to reschedule due to Dentist being behind Never checked her record nor asked the reason for her visit She advised her that she was in pain and they had done this to her last time It was literally in one ear and out the other They just coldheartedly turned her away after telling them she couldnt reschedule and needed to be seen Very unreliable incompetent unprofessional Dont call their patients to advise them of any of this to avoid having the patient show up and waste their time Are they still benefiting from the patients showing up ? They dont have the patients best interest in mind and heart The dentist is well aware that he has an ethical obligation to treat his patients and especially those patients that come into his office in severe pain and on an urgent need to be seen basis because of a serious medical emergency as well as the consequences he may face for turning the patient away and more importantly risking the patients health by infection possibly spreading further into the gums roots bone and tooth loss

Experiencia negativa: Not the best place. Wouldn’t recommend. I got scheduled on a Monday and then got rescheduled to the following Tuesday without my knowledge. Not even a call or email to ask if I could change my appointment to that Tuesday they just did it. I couldn’t do that Tuesday so I rescheduled to the next Tuesday at 12:30. They then called me a few days before my appointment to confirm my appointment at 12‍♀️ I told her my appointment was at 12:30 not 12. They rescheduled my appointment without asking me again.

She was very understanding of my gag reflex and fear especially since I personally haven't been to the dentist in awhile. During the process she would give me different ways people get past their gag reflex and coached me through making it a painless and easy experience even with he pain my wisdom teeth have been causing. Experiencia negativa: Very unprofessional. The staff were nice but not professional. I could hear them loudly talking about private patient information. The place was dirty and I felt uncomfortable with the levels of dirt and dust on the floor and hygienic equipment. I waited for an hour after my appointment before I even got xarys and then it was another 20 min and I still saw no doctor. I had run out of time and I left. I spoke to the receptionist on my way out explaining I could not wait any longer and her response was “okay, all call you”. Still haven’t received a phone call, but that’s ok because I will not be coming back. This was the shields location. I can’t speak for all western dentals but I would not recommend you go to the one I did. I don’t get squeamish at dirt in the slightest but this place made me feel uncomfortable.

Made another appointment and it also got canceled 30 minutes later. Called the third time to make an appointment and then ten minutes later they called to see if I could reschedule. Pathetic. If only they would let calls go directly to the Office instead of a call center, i would be able to talk to someone there that knows the schedule. Western dental is not organized and the third party that they hire to do their scheduling is incompetent. They’re not even on the same page. That just goes to tell that it’s best to go elsewhere.

Ive been to other dentists and seemed to me to be expensive. The cost here for various treatments I believe to be fair and I am content with it. I have treatments lined up because I need a lot of work done so I can say that I am in good hands.

Experiencia negativa: Well I have 2 experience with this Western Dental facility in Fresno. The first one I will do a separately review. My daughter went in for braces and everything was going ok, except now, she been experiencing alot of pain toward her back of the mouth. She called for appointment herself as she 18 years old, which they made the appointment for 6 days out, so I called this facility and got her in alot sooner. No ortho dr was in the office Friday her appointment day. The techs look at her mouth and found that it was her wisdom teeth giving her the pain, not anything to do with her braces. The guy tech told my daughter that it was infectioned and sent her no with no pain meds or antibiotics. It had alot of trouble eating, sleeping etc...Monday morning came I called and asked for the office manager. I called 9:40am, 11am and 2:30 and 4pm to speak with this manager. To get some meds for my daughter and speak with her, as I was really pissed off. She never called me back and the meds given was ibuprofen because now there is no infection according to the x-rays. I or my other children's will ever have any kind of service done here. The office staff is unprofessional and the office manager is not doing her job. There is many other places to go for better services.

Experiencia negativa: I had a wisdom tooth problem and when they looked they did not tell me it was such a severe case. Went to another dentist because I did not trust them and they found out about an actual infection. Not only did this western dental location fail to inform or even acknowledge the huge problem with this tooth, but they did not accept medi-cal for the tooth extraction. They even referred me to a surgeon who also did not accept medical and had a waitlist for 6 months. They do not care about their clients at all. The other dentist I went to, after leaving western dental, gave me antibiotics and scheduled me for surgery the same day. These people wanted me to wait 4 plus months with an infection that could've made me horrifically ill. Office employees are nice but the over all actual dental experience was just awful. Please consider going somewhere else if you have a dental issue.

The staff at Cedar and Shields Western Dental is so wonderful and really team worker's and all of them helps calm me because of my nervousness infact the staff and Dr's are great in all phases of dentistry all of my so called nervousness was gone if it wasn't because of the excellent professionalism of staff and Dr's I'm totally satisfied customer with the entire Western Dental work they are doing for me, there's no reason not to go to Western Dental on Cedar and Shields! Experiencia negativa: Had an appointment and had to wait forever. After 2 hours of waiting and there were others that came much later and were being seen before me. I finally asked, was I the next person in line? They said yes, but others that came after I ask were being seen and I wasn’t. I ask why was I not being seen and was told I had to wait while other were seen because I was not there for treatment. Why in the world would I be at the dentist office if I wasn’t seeking treatment. They say they couldn’t do anything so I left because I truly believe they didn’t want my service and this was a way to get me out of there. Don’t waste your time with Western Dental, there are many dentist offices out there that will actually appreciate your business.

Experiencia negativa: This western dental is a POS. They wasted my time on going to get a clearance from my other doctor. And when I did they denied me. Not only that they ripped my husbands tongue while doing an extraction. And when my daughter was younger they strapped her down to a board. Now she's terrified of the dentist. I would not reccomend western dental at all.

I don't like needles at all, but the assistant let me squeeze her hand whenever I felt pain which calm me down. She along with the doctor gets 5 stars they were great

Dr. Chen, supper sweet & nice very light hand and makes my visits go by smoothly along with her assistant Amandeep also very nice both do a very good job together! Recently got my root canal and crown by both dr. Chen and her assistant amandeep, Both did a great job!! Painless procedure and made me feel veryyy comfortable!! Good team!

Experiencia fantástica: I really like the Western Dental. I've never had any problems with them. The staff is so friendly and nice. They are really good at keeping you up to date about your appointments and what work needs to be done on your teeth. I really recommend Dr. Chen. She is super gentle along with their assistant Amandeep. Everyone takes notice of you and engages in conversation with their patients. It really shows how much they care for their patients.

Experiencia negativa: Unprofessional and disorganized. I was out of town for a few weeks and experienced extreme mouth pain and gum bleeding, so I scheduled a appointment with this office in Fresno. Before the appointment I talked to them on the phone to be sure they accepted a phone picture of my insurance card because my card was 5 hours away at home. The lady was kind and polite, she told me that a picture of it would be just fine. I also made it super clear I was not from Fresno! Comes the appointment day, I already had a issue from the start because the receptionist said she couldn’t accept a picture of the insurance card and that they aren’t allowed to do a cleaning on me because of that. I explained to her that I was out of town and that the lady I talked to the day before said that we could use just a picture. She then let me email the picture and never talked about whether I could get a cleaning or not… I waited a good 1 1/2hr before getting x-rays by the sweetest lady! She was the best person on staff there by far. After the X-rays, I was brought to the dental room and sat in a chair. So I was hopeful that I would actually get a cleaning and a diagnosis. I waited in that chair for a good 30-45 mins and then the dentist finally showed up. I explained to her my tooth abnormality (receding gum) and she blew it off as being normal before even looking at my teeth. Finally she looked at my teeth and realized that it was not normal. She admitted that she did not know what it was. I also told her about my gum inflammation (intense bleeding from all side when brushing) and she never really gave me a diagnosis but said the cleaning would help (obviously). Then mentions that cleanings will help with gingivitis and never even told me whether I had gingivitis or not. She told me that she was going to classify the tooth that has a receding gum as a cavity and told me she can’t provide anymore information about it at the moment but will have more information when I comeback (definitely will not). It’s always reassuring when the doctor doesn’t know what they are looking at. She introduced me to the dental hygienist who was going to do my cleaning, the dental hygienist then sent me back to the front lobby to wait for my cleaning and said they’d call me back. Once I got to the front lobby, the receptionist called me up and said I was done for the day (what??). She asked what dates I would like to schedule a cleaning and treatment. I informed her, again, that I’m not from Fresno so I will not be making another appointment. She then told me that my insurance policy won’t allow me to change offices for a year once I’ve started going to the one I was at.That freaked me out because I would not travel 5 hours out of town for a dental office, let alone a dental office as awful as this one. I absolutely love that she waited to tell me this after the appointment and not before when I mentioned I was not from Fresno, something you think she’d bring up if that policy was real. I called my insurance company and what the receptionist told me was not true at all. This whole experience was an absolute waste of time. Bye Western Dental!

Experiencia fantástica: I always hated X-rays. Jessica explained the procedure, she was also fast and gentle making my experience very convenient and more comfortable. Dr.Chen was very nice gave me tips on how to prevent cavities and have healthier gums. Staff here is very nice and friendly. Looking forward for my next visit.

Experiencia negativa: The most unprofessional service I’ve had the displeasure to deal with. When I called and made an appointment, I specifically requested an immediate appointment to have my wisdom tooth pulled because it was causing me irritation. I asked the phone operator multiple times if it was an appointment to have my wisdom tooth pulled and she said yes and specified “yes, it’s to have your wisdom tooth pulled.” That’s on a recorded line. I go in at the time of the appointment to ask if there’s any up front costs or anything only to be told that my appointment is for an exam, not to have my wisdom tooth pulled. I lost it. The mental preparation, the nightmares, the anxiety-all for nothing because it was an exam and they didn’t inform me. They had given me incorrect information. I’m so upset. What a waste of time and resources.

Experiencia positiva: My visits to western dental have been pleasant so far, the staff is always attentive and ready to inform you with questions are asked. The waiting time sometimes is a little longer than expected giving that you are schedule for an specific time, other than that I’m overall satisfied with their service, the girls at front desk are nice Serena is cool the only reason I don’t give them 5 stars is because of the waiting time. everything else is really good.

Experiencia fantástica: Everyone here is always super helpful and welcoming. Today Serena and the other firls helped me out and answered my questions in regards to billing/appointments. I actually came in a little late today but thankfully they were really accommodating to my situation. Doctor listened to my pain and administered the proper pain relief, woohoo! Now i don't have a gaping hole in my tooth, no more pain. Looking forward to my crown in a few weeks! :)

Experiencia negativa: It was busy when I came in but I was the only person in line I was waiting there for over 15 minutes nobody said hello welcome will be right with you shortly nobody talked to me. Afterwards I just never wanted to go there so I just went somewhere else
