Experiencia negativa: Went in for a an emergency visit and got charged extra due to a "Waiting Period" on my insurance. Come to find out there was no such waiting period on my insurance.... makes me wonder how many times I've been over charged... It's a shame I geniunely love the staff

From scheduling & intake through the dental examination I had the impression that these folks know what they are doing and care about their work. Dr. Crown was very down to earth and straightforward with his assessment. I plan to return for additional dental care.

Experiencia negativa: Went to HARBORTOWN HIGGINBOTHAM FAMILY DENTAL to get 3 teeth pulled but they only pulled 1 due to the pain! (Strike 1) I paid upfront for my service because i trusted the staff would do what they was paid to do. Before leaving out i was told they would refund me my money back and the lady gave me a specific total refund which now has change 4 times(strike 2) I’ve been given the run around about my refund for a month now and today one of the staffs now saying they can’t process the refund because the insurance hasn’t paid them and they need a final cost to know how much i would receive back which is a lie! Insurance direct deposit them their money 3/20/25. My service date was 3/19/25. (Strike 3) Now they won’t answer my calls and the last call was very rude! I strongly believe they giving me the run around because i decided to go to another dentist office to get work done on my mouth. They was trying to charge me $2600+ OUT OF POCKET WHEN I HAVE INSURANCE for 2 teeth when another dentist is only charging $1100! Robbery!!!

Experiencia fantástica: I saw Dr Sean Fitzhugh this morning, had to have 4 extractions & implants. The procedure could not have gone better. I felt no pain, only some brief pressure. Before he began he looked at the xray and said he would be able to do 2 implants today. The other 2 areas required bone grafting so the implants would have a stable foundation. The staff was very reassuring and friendly. I have been home now for 5 hours and so far have only needed a pain pill when I came home & cut it in half. FYI I am sensitive to pain meds, so ate yogurt, mashed acorn squash before taking it. He also prescribed a steroid pack to minimize the inflammation & an antibiotic to avoid infection. If you look to make an informed decision & have any anxiety, Dr Fitzhugh takes the time to explain everything in detail before, and he has already called to see how I am doing after. He is very kind and considerate and his office staff is great and knows what is needed before they are even asked.

Experiencia fantástica: Why can't all dentists offices be this great? The location is so interesting, nestled in a gorgeous corner building of Harbor town. The staff was so welcoming and talkative. I was able to fill out all my forms before arriving to my first visit. That alone was a plus because it saved time for them and me! Jordan did a great job cleaning my teeth and when Dr. Crown checked me over I was good to go! Now I'm dirtying them up again! See y'all in 6 months!

What can I say… from start to finish these guys were super friendly, professional and caring. From the reception staff to the dental nurse Victoria to Dr Crown himself. They had Harry Potter in the room I was in, which as a Brit I found quite poetic and Dr Crown and Victoria were honestly just the best!!! They were great at putting me at ease and making me feel less nervous! Can y’all move to Texas so I can make you my regular dentist please!!!! Thank you guys!!!

Experiencia negativa: I am deeply disappointed with the treatment my sister received at this dental office. She arrived on time for her appointment for an extraction but was forced to wait over an hour and a half to be seen. When the procedure finally began, the experience was unprofessional, disorganized, and distressing. The dentist managed to extract one tooth but struggled with the other, stopping in the middle of the procedure to attend to other patients. This unnecessary delay meant my sister had to be re-numbed when he eventually resumed. Despite taking 18 X-rays prior to the procedure, the dentist ultimately failed to complete the extraction and only then referred her to an oral surgeon who could competently address the issue. It was disheartening that the office wasn’t upfront about the severity of the situation from the beginning. To make matters worse, my sister now has to wait until the end of the month for the next available appointment with the oral surgeon. When she went to the referred office the same day to try to expedite care, this dental office delayed sending over her records for more than 45 minutes, requiring her and the oral surgeon’s office to follow up multiple times just to get the necessary paperwork. My sister took several days off work specifically for this procedure, and it’s incredibly disappointing that her time and effort were wasted due to a lack of transparency and professionalism. On top of that, she has been in significant pain due to her dental issues, and this experience has only added more stress to an already difficult situation. Additionally, my sister, the only Black client in the office, strongly feels her poor treatment was racially motivated, as all the other patients and staff were white. This makes an already unacceptable experience even more upsetting. Patients deserve timely, competent, and respectful care—none of which my sister received here. I wouldn’t recommend this office to anyone —especially Black people or other people of color.

I visited Higginbotham Family Dentist and the team was extremely courteous, the doctor provided me jaw workouts for my tight muscles and already have my next appointment scheduled. Happy I found them!

Experiencia negativa: Went in for extraction of 4 teeth, very smooth process; had a great dental assistant and Dr. Crown was very reassuring. The problem lies with one of the receptionists I never got her name but she should not be working there ; she was incredibly rude, dismissive, and condescending. A link for the payments and the option to enroll in a payment plan wasn’t offered to me; when I explained this to her she said it is on the patient to ask out of nowhere for a payment plan without prior knowledge that they even offer this. When I said I didn’t get a link she stood up in my face and talked down to me with extreme attitude forcing me to pay an exorbitant amount of money. Very predatory monetary practices and will force/ shame you into having to pay for it. Never coming back here after that experience.

I didn’t feel any pain during the procedure, and my mouth wasn’t sore the next day. The front desk staff also greeted me with warm smiles, making the experience even better. Experiencia negativa: Been going to this dentist over 5yrs my wife recommended me had my upper and lower partials made here ,have had so many issues i got tired of returning stop wearing lower couldn't eat without hurting came back 10/07/24 same complaint with lower they made an adjustment now my lower scrape my tongue still can't use them my issues has not been resolved but they want to do a root canal on other teeth shouldn't you fix what you started before moving on i feel like all they want is your payment don't get me wrong the professionalism is great nice friendly atmosphere super nice people just don't understand why Noone believe me when I tell them these partials don't work for me,they been trying to fix them for years not satisfied at all

Experiencia negativa: I enjoy my first visit! The hygienist is so patient and help me with dental cleansing. She also asked me questions about my brushing and whether using the floss. I am satisfied with the service and the appointment! The second time, however is not that good! I was asked to come again for a deep cleaning. It was not covered by the dental insurance, and I just waited for the doctor a long time after the initial inspection. I don’t feel that it worths the wait. In addition, I need to go to another orthodontic clinic for some review. So I choose a dental clinic that provides the orthodontic service. I also realize that the gift of toothbrush, floss, and toothpaste is standard for a qualified dental clinic . I used to refer my friend to this clinic due to the location in the mud island. I didn’t receive a good feedback from her as well due to unexceptional high charge. She told me that she quit the treatment because she didn’t feel good during her gum treatment, and it doesn’t function well. After several months of her quitting the treatment, this clinic still sent her some other medical fees to be paid, which is unusual.

Experiencia negativa: No clear communication about billing. I had crown treatment which was informed to around $500 which I paid before the treatment, and after 2 months they told me to pay $700 extra. They don't understand how insurance works and don't explain it to patients.

Experiencia fantástica: This was my first visit to investigate their clinic. Even though original Medicare doesn’t help here, they offered an annual discount fee that was very reasonable. They also set an appointment for me same day! Dr John and the hygienist was great as well.
