Woodland Dentistry

Fantastic experience: I was born with the corpus callosum, and I have a severe gag reflex that makes it hard to get any dental treatment done without IV sedation. I went to an IV sedation dentist in the Chicago area before moving here, so I knew Woodland Dentistry would be a great dental office for me. I was referred to Woodland Dentistry by the dentist I was going to before switching to Woodland Dentistry over 5 years ago. Dr Geyen was able to fix a filling without IV sedating me. It was easier not being IV sedated just for one filling to be fixed. The last time I was IV sedated the dentist over sedated me and that caused me to pee my pants. If I'm ever IV sedated again, I know now to bring an extra pair of pants/underwear LOL. I do prefer not to be IV sedated if I don't need to be. When a filling broke again Dr Geyen tried so hard to fix the filling, but with my gagging and the method he switched to my gag reflex acted up and it wasn't possible. Dr Geyen did tell me the filling would likely fall out again and it did. My family strongly recommended that I make an appointment and get it redone. I didn't think that was a good idea, but I made the appointment just so I didn't have to listen to them. I was embarrassed going in and gagging on him and that time leaving the appointment without the filling being fixed. I understand I have to wait until the tooth decays to get it filled again. I do think it's better that way. I was more embarrassed more than I was stressed. I think I made Dr Geyen mad a few times which wasn't intentional. Going through Perimenopause I have been experiencing brain fog, so I wasn't myself. I was quite and laying there like a log most of the time. But when I figured out how to fix that I've been more active. I was never mad at Dr Geyen for not fixing that filling. How could I be mad when he truly did try his best to fix it. I think I did frustrate Dr Geyen when I was complaining about a mild sharp pain all over. I thought those root canaled teeth that the Chicago dentist did because of the cavity treatment he performed were going bad, but I wasn't sure. I was glad to find out I just needed to floss more. I was always not happy about how cavities were treated when I had to have several cavities fixed and I never got over how much healthy tooth structure was wasted. But IV sedation is right for me and IV sedation was better than gagging and getting an amalgam filling placed in a tooth. I do want the amalgam filling I have in a tooth removed/replaced, but whenever Dr Geyen thinks it's best to remove/replace it that will be fine. I can wait. It was nice to know that it's wearing out, and it will break soon. I wasn't happy when the dentist who placed it in my tooth told me the amalgam filling would last forever and I would never have to replace it. I just dislike the look of the amalgam filling. I dislike that it's visible and not tooth colored. I used to shake and my teeth would chatter before a dental appointment, but since switching to Woodland Dentistry I don't shake and my teeth don't chatter anymore. I used to try and get out of going to dental appointments, but now I don't mind going to the dentist. Dr Geyen mostly sees me, but Dr Aberle saw me once. Both dentists are great. Nancy cleans my teeth and I really like her. Dr Geyen is my favorite dentist ever! Everyone at Woodland Dentistry is kind and very friendly. I listen to music during appointments. I love that they ask if I went on my walk that day or where I'm going on vacation or ask about my dogs. Woodland Dentistry is just a great dental office! I love that the dentist doesn't recommend dental treatment that isn't necessary. In Chicago the IV sedation dentist never did an exam during appointments and went by what the hygienist said. I always felt he was after more money when treatment wasn't truly necessary. I don't find that here at Woodland Dentistry. Woodland Dentistry was the first dental office that treated me I was competent to make my own decisions about my dental care and I appreciate that.

Fantastic experience: Had my permanent retainer break on a Thursday night. Friday morning called 12 different places and found Woodland Dentistry when I called they told me to come in. I live 2 hours from there but was desperate to get it removed. They offered to fix it but I decided to just have it removed. I showed up a few minutes before they closed on a Friday and they took me back and got it removed. Staff was amazing and very friendly!

They no longer complain about having to go to the dentist, but are eager to see the "girls" and get their "prize". Fantastic experience: First impressions are everything! They have a really nice building and it was very clean. I was glad they were able to take the insurance that I have through the national guard. Because of mobilizations I have had only a few cleanings and dental visits in the last 4 years or so. I wanted to get in and become a regular patient again. They were thorough and took plenty of X-rays to get brought up to speed on my current and past dental history. The doctor was young and professional and cared about me and my previous dental history. I definitely recommend Woodland Dentistry to anyone else looking for dental care in the area.

Fantastic experience: I was at Woodland a couple years ago to have a to have an infected tooth removed, they suggested that I get the one next to removed as well because of the likelihood that it would more than likely get infected to,they only charged me for a single tooth extraction, I now once again am having tooth problems, and now have dental insurance, and this is really the only dentist office I care to go to. They make you feel comfortable no matter how uncomfortable you are to be there, they are not judgemental and truly care about your well being. I am so Thankful and Grateful for this Dental office and all their Great Staff!

Fantastic experience: I have avoided going to the Dentist my entire life due to a very unpleasant experience at an early age. The staff at Woodland has made the Dentist visit a very comfortable and dare I say "enjoyable" experience. I am longer looking for a place to go! Fantastic experience: I called with a tooth ache, and not feeling well, they got me in the next day, With a long weekend coming up, they did everything they had to, to make sure I wasn’t going to be in pain all weekend! Extremely friendly staff from the moment I walked in the door to the time I walked out! I hate getting teeth worked on, and they were understanding and listened to me and my concerns. But knowing it was infected they got right to work to take care of the problem.

I was super nervous to even step foot into a dental office but my amazing wife gave me some tough love and helped me get in. What an amazing experience I had with Dr. Geyen and all his staff. I wasn't shamed for not seeing a dentist in so long and wasn't pressured into doing anything I didn't want to or wasn't comfortable with. Dr. Geyen put all my nerves to rest and was outstanding at making me feel comfortable and making sure I understood everything he was saying. He makes you feel like you are the only person in the office and is so personable and friendly as well is all the staff too.
