Fantastic experience: Cracked a tooth Wednesday night, and got me to see Dr. Joe the next morning. Awesome staff and of course Dr. Joe. Highly recommend Lakeland Hills Dental to anyone needing a great Dentist and a caring staff. Update: Had a crown put on after the cracked tooth, and after 4 months the tooth died. Was able to get in about and week and had the tooth extracted yesterday 23 Jul. Extraction went easy. Dr. Joe called me last night about 8:45pm to see how I was doing. No pain or swelling. Today where the tooth was feels great. Again all the staff was super and friendly. Highly, recommend Lakeland Hills Dental.

Negative experience: Customer service is absolute trash I called this morning for a follow up on my co pay with my new dental insurance, she answered my call then goes to interupt me by saying "yeah we've been trying ro call you!" in an unpleasant tone then I expressed that I am new to all of this and trying to get understandment. She could not tell me now much of my yearly balance would be removed from my insurance so I explained since there was not much more she could do or answer for me that I would call Cigna Dental she felt offended then she proceeds to tell me she is not my personal assistant & etc. I am highly disappointed but overly happy that I didn't let these kinds of rude people into my mouth.

Fantastic experience: A wonderful experience everyone there is super nice and talks you through everything. Joe and his assistants are all extremely professional and do their best to make it a comfortable experience! Joe makes sure you don’t feel anything and the fillings they do look exactly like a regular tooth.

Negative experience: The cleanings here are excellent. The staff does a thorough job. During my last visit, the hygienist seemed uncomfortable explaining that a dark spot on my gum was simply due to my darker complexion. Instead of just saying that plainly, she awkwardly mentioned she didn’t know my nationality and didn’t want to assume. It was unnecessary and uncomfortable. I’m American, just like her. I experienced other microaggressions at my previous appointments but dismissed it, wanting to give the staff the benefit of the doubt. However, they continued to prove they don't interact with any black person if it's not transactional. This lack of awareness and not engaging respectfully with people with different backgrounds also shows up in the dentist. He can be incredibly condescending and crass. He tends to talk down to patients as if we don’t understand our own bodies. He also handles you roughly, like you’re a practice dummy instead of a real person. He talks in a way that feels out of touch and dismissive, as if he’s not used to engaging with anyone outside of his tax bracket. I hope this office learns to treat every patient with basic respect and dignity — not just provide good cleanings.

Fantastic experience: ALWAYS a great experience. I was in for a routine cleaning. I was in the exam area within 5 minutes after arrival. I didn't need an X-ray ths time, so the tech started right away. As painless as a cleaning can be. Fluoride applied and Dr. Joe was in to check me out. I love his sense of humor and jovial nature. Negative experience: I'm not going to say to not go to Walter's practice. That is up to you. Let me share with you my experience if you could be facing a similar dilemma. I am 20 years old. I am a college student. I am financially responsible for myself. I don't have good dental insurance and was going to pay out of pocket. I had a good orthodontist that corrected mistakes left by other orthodontists. Which is why I had a lot of gratitude. He gave me a few cards and told me that these were good dentists that wouldn't waste my time and money. I called Leaklank and explained to the friendly receptionist about my situation. I have lost a significant amount of bone from trauma associated with my braces. I knew I was most likely going to have to get the tooth pulled and a bone graft put in. Which is not a cheap procedure. Also, I am young, and keeping all of my teeth is important to me. The lady said that Walter had other options and wouldn't recommend that unless it was serious. I made it known that I would be open to the services if it wasn't the worst-case scenario, as I would go elsewhere that was affordable for me. I set the appointment for 1:30 p.m., then I get a confirmation phone call the day before my appointment. However, I was given a different time, which was 8 a.m. Big difference. I kept the appointment. The next day I ran late because I am 25 minutes away from driving, but I take bus transportation at the moment. I got there 15 minutes late and filled out a bunch of paper work. I was then taken to a room. Walter comes in shortly after and starts poking around in my mouth, which was uncomfortable. I was ready to hear the options. Which He said there were two. I guessed "Which is to pull the tooth and get a bone graft," which he said is his most common option. And then the second was to wait 5 to 10 years and not be a good candidate for an implant. I was not happy because, for starters, my appointment was pushed to the morning, and then I was lied to about the options from the lady. She said he had multiple solutions. The second wasn't an option at all. He was trying to scare me into paying right away. He got mad when I told him my plan of where I was going to get dental and that I was only seeing him because I was informed of a different option. He got mad and upset and said I was a waste of time, and he also said, "You patients go to a different country when I tell you something you don't like." No, we go elsewhere because you don't make it affordable. He was very unprofessional. And I said I would pay for the appointment. Not because I felt bad, but because he is good friends with my ortho. Which I think I am getting a different one. The experience was unsettling and uncomfortable. He was then rude and tried to get me to do an x-ray that would cost $60; I said no. I already had one sent over. I left voluntarily. He was telling me to leave. Walter displayed himself badly. I did not deserve that, even if I was in the wrong. He was friendly until he realized he wasn't getting a cent. And changed my appointment from 1:30pm to 8 a.m. He wanted me to pay 3,000 dollars. I said bye. I wasn't rude or lashing out like He was. I was trying to explain myself. Looking back, I didn't have to explain anything. I dealt with the insults all the way to the door. He wasted my time. *You can go ahead and send this to Jeff. Thank you and have a nice day.*

Negative experience: NEVER give Joe your credit card. I was self pay with no dental insurance. I informed him that i had had c-diff and could not have implants or antibiotics and gave him my GI's name and phone number which he called. This info is in my GI's records. She told him that IF he gave me those antibiotics she would have me in the hospital with c-diff again with vancomycin pumped straight through my veins to cure c-diff again. I had pressure on a tooth on the lower left side of my jaw. I would think his xrays shows that problem. I was gassed and left alone so long my nose felt like it was on fire and tears were streaming down my face when he returned. At that point, i was pretty much out of it, and was given numbing shots. I had no idea what he was doing in my mouth and he proceeded to wreck a bridge on the opposite of my lower jaw and pulled my last molar there. This bridge was never discussed and was in perfect condition. He then moved onto the problem tooth on the opposite side of my lower jaw and began the root canal i was there for. Because of the crooked root, the pressure was unbearable. I was holding onto my jaw asking him to stop, stop, stop. He finally stopped, cut my gum open exposing the crooked root, snipped it off, and stitched me up. This root canal included destroying my entire bridge from eye tooth to eye tooth, leaving me with a 3 tooth gap, which he made a 3 tooth "flipper" for esthetic reasons and gave me a sr. discount for only $675.00. At this point i was DONE. Joe's last words to me as i was leaving were QUOTE: I could just do those implants with NO antibiotics END QUOTE. I believe that was his plan from the beginning since he removed that bridge and pulled my last molar on the opposite side of my lower jaw. I was no more than a cash cow with a very high limit credit card. This whole nightmare cost me thousands upon thousands of dollars.

He was able to diagnose the source of my dental sensitivity and put in a filling to treat it during the same appointment. This is almost unheard of for most dentists (including my previous dentist who couldn’t get me in for three weeks), so I really appreciate Dr. Joe taking his time to treat me and keep me at ease during the whole process. Negative experience: Made My last appointment with in 18hr, Staff told me 11:30. When I showed up they said my appointment was at 11:10 and Dr.Joe was not there. Yet they are charging me for a missed appointment. Clearly a miscommunication and Dr.Joe missed my appointment. PS. Dr Joe even left for lunch early. No need to charge me, did I say he wasn't there.
