Fantastic experience: Pleasant atmosphere, polite staff, excellent professional, and adequate pricing. One of the things I appreciate the most is that they don't pressure you to do any treatment or image that it's not a clinical emergency. They just offer options and explanations to make an informed decision.

From the moment I arrived, they were warm, patient, and genuinely attentive to how I was feeling. They took the time to explain everything before they did it, checked in with me throughout, and never made me feel rushed or judged for my nerves. By the end of the appointment, I was actually relaxed — something I never thought I'd say about a dental visit. Dr. Akeel is very thorough and professional! We both received a good thorough cleaning. He was very honest and detailed as to what we both needed to do to care for our teeth. 10/13/25 As usual, Dr. Akeel did a wonderful job on the cleaning of my teeth! Had some bite problems but he thoroughly took care of the problem in such a quick manner! My husband are older but we really appreciate his solid expertise so we can maintain and keep our teeth!

Negative experience: Second time I went to get my teeth cleaned dentist was not nice to me and made rude comments towards me was disrespectful and now my teeth hurts will not be using this place again found a new location

Fantastic experience: There are just not enough wonderful things I can say about dentistry by design; the staff is so helpful, so welcoming, and so consistently warm and friendly. As for Dr Akeel, well he is just so caring, so very warm and determined to make you comfortable and to address your problems, and he is an absolute wonder when it comes to the numbing experience. He is amazing, and my family and I are convinced he needs to teach a course in how to give needles. You don’t even feel them. Seriously. We don’t know what he does, but it’s pretty astounding. This is a great place. I have always been terrified of going to the dentist, but since I found Dr Akeel I actually look forward to it. And that’s the truth.

Fantastic experience: This is five star Dentistry! Just this morning I saw Dr. Akeel And his assistant. I had a loose Silver filling and he carefully took that out and replaced it with a white composite. It looks and feels great. I have been coming to doctor Akeel‘s office for three years now and I have always had a good experience. He calls it the way it is whether it’s a cavity to be filled or a crown or an implant. He can do it all with skill. Highly recommended..

Negative experience: My recent experience at this practice left me feeling shaken and confused. Immediately following my most recent — and second ever — visit, I asked ChatGPT for guidance because I didn’t know how to make sense of the interaction. This is what I wrote in that moment: “I haven’t been to a dentist in probably a decade and I know that my teeth need work, but I have been to the same dentist now for two appointments back to back and today the dentist talked to me very little, except to tell me to make sure that I am taking better care of my teeth. He did not ask me how I am taking care of my teeth and after he told me to take better care, I told him that I am flossing almost every day and brushing twice a day and he responded, ‘I see what I see.’ As a healthcare professional, I don’t think this is a reasonable way to do an assessment with a patient… What do I do?” As someone who values patient-centered care as a provider myself, looking back at my uncertainty in that moment angers me. A provider’s communication should not leave a patient feeling confused about whether their expectations for respectful, curious, patient-centered care are reasonable. Since that visit, I have been seen at two other dental practices. In both settings, I was treated with professionalism and respect, and it was made clear that expecting to be asked about my experiences and needs — not simply told what the provider believes — is a basic and appropriate standard of care. Unfortunately, that was not my experience at this office. When you’re seeking any healthcare professional, your experience matters. If you value collaborative, patient-centered communication, I would hesitate before choosing this practice.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I have been going to Dr. Akeel since we moved to Virginia in 2011. He is very thorough, explains everything, and is direct in what needs to be done. In certain situations he is generous in redoing a crown at no charge if he feels it has been compromised. The office staff are all very nice and helpful. Both my husband and I have been pleased with the dental services we’ve experienced at this office over the past 14 years.

Fantastic experience: Yesterday, which was Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend, one of my teeth crowns came loose. I called and left a message at Dr. Akeel’s office asking that he call me back today (Monday) to arrange to have it fixed, but he didn’t wait until today. About an hour after I left the message, his office called and offered me an appointment for today. Reattaching the crown was not an emergency, but he treated it as one, and I appreciate that.

Fantastic experience: I hadn't even been to my 1st appointment yet( scheduled for September), but my Veneer came off and they got me in the next day and took care of it. Very professional and conscientious.

Fantastic experience: I had a failed root canal from over 20 yrs ago. After that was redone by an endodontist, I had to have two crowns replaced. Dr Akeel removed those crowns today and placed temporaries. He was gentle, frequently asked how I was doing and the procedure went well. I was expertly numbed with no pain during the procedure. All of his staff are very kind and work hard to take care of your needs from appts, reception, and care during procedures. I would recommend the Dentistry by Design staff and Dentist.

Negative experience: Two years ago I went to this dentistry. I faced a monster not a dentist there. He was yelling and angry. He treated me like am his slave. The x-ray is not working and all of it black. I asked the receptionist why he is angry? She said because you don’t take care of your teeth. Then he referred me to another dentist to get x-ray and to evaluate my teeth. Never heard back from both. Of course I paid here and there. I went to Arlington Dentistry Excellence, I got free consultation, free x-rays, free panoramic, and free scan that designs image of your future teeth. They did 2 implant and bone grafting. Caping 3 teeth and two veneers. And one crown all that cost me just 10k. They have very nice staff and very gentlemen cosmetic surgeons. All of them were doing deep cleaning to get as much as they can from your insurance. I am glad that I found Arlington clinic. I have very nice smile now :)

Fantastic experience: Another good exam and cleaning! I really like that the Dr uses baking soda and water pressure for the cleaning, it feels good, no pain, and leaves a pleasant taste in the mouth. And I followed his instructions well and this time he was happy with my own performance in brushing. Thanks for the care Doc, and thanks for the encouragement! It feels good to have you examine and not find a problem!

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Dr. Akeel’s since around 2010 after experiencing an extremely severe dental emergency. At that time, I did not have any dental insurance and required extensive dental treatment. I went to several dentists in the area for consultations and treatment, but Dr. Akeel was the absolute best. He restored my damaged teeth and worked.with me on the payments. I was able to pay in increments, as the restoration was a long process. I was so thankful and grateful to Dr. AKeel and his staff, I have been a client there ever since. And since 2020, I have had dental insurance for the first time. I would just like to say that I have been 100% happy with the dental care I have received from Dr. Akeel & staff. I have been to a few good dentists over the years, and none have been as above and beyond as Dr. Akeel and his amazing staff! I would recommend them 100%!
