Fantastic experience: I cant express how thankful I am that this dentist office exists. The front office is so kind and welcoming. Dr. Buckwalter is caring and explains the process and further treatment plans to you. His dental assistant was very kind as well. Happy to be a patient here :)

It is a few years later, I am still going to Hillcrest every 6 months, and the professional care, the good vibe of the office, and the friendly staff are just as good, if not better. Still 5 stars..... previous review...... I have been visiting Dr Buckwalter at Hillcrest for 4 years. The dental care is excellent. The office is sunny and pleasant. The staff is great and they are all nice to the patients and to each other. The office has a seriously good vibe, with Dr Buckwalter leading by example. I can highly recommend Hillcrest Dental.

Fantastic experience: By far the best Dentist I have ever been to. Mr. Buckwalter is an extremely smart and thorough professional that goes out of his way to make sure you are in the loop and understand what is going on when he is working on your teeth. The staff go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable during your visit and also the front desk is great at breaking down insurance information to help you know what your plan covers and does not. I have nothing but good things to say about them they are good people who provide a great service.

Fantastic experience: Staff is always efficient and friendly, and remember me. Doc, assistants, and hygenists are quite knowledgeable, even the new ones. Doctor Buckwalter always takes his time, explains whatever I ask, and never rushes through the exam. My visits are as pleasant as a trip to the dentist can be (it is, after all, still the dentist!). I highly recommend Hillcrest Dental.

Fantastic experience: My family and I have been patients since the beginning, and after nearly a decade, I can confirm that this is just the best, most considerate dentist with a truly fantastic staff, both dental and office. Always going above and beyond to make sure that my family has amazing dental care at a reasonable cost. Honestly, I consider them to be like family but without the complications. I cannot possibly rave about Dr Buckwalter and this practice enough.

Fantastic experience: Excellent experience. Took my two 5 year olds for their first visit. Everyone was fantastic. Marshall did the cleaning and she was excellent with the kids; they loved her! Dr. B was great as well, and both were very knowledgeable. Very highly recommend, especially if you have younger kids.

Fantastic experience: Great dental place. I got a solid cleaning that was gentle, but thorough. I had a question for the dentist about using baking soda to whiten teeth, and he gave a very wholisitic answer. While he did recommend getting bleaching trays through the dentistry, he was not insistent on it and gave me other at-home options.

He’s knowledgeable, does beautiful work and is a pleasure to be with. I’ve referred several people to this office and they feel exactly the same!

I think it’s so important to have a dentist that you trust and feel comfortable with. I most definitely feel trusting and comfortable with him and his staff!!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Buckwalter is a great dentist. I've continued going to him even after moving to Richmond. He spends a lot of time with patients and he always takes care to make sure you understand everything going on, showing pictures and explaining things. I appreciate that he is conservative with recommending procedures. I trust his advice and feel that he cares more about my best interest and long term health than just making money, which unfortunately is not the case everywhere! Highly recommend!

Today was only my second time coming but Dr. Buckwalter and his assistant Cathy made me feel so welcomed and comfortable. I had a filling performed and they explained to me exactly what the treatment consisted of and it was a breeze! The week before, I had my teeth cleaned and my hygienist Mallory was incredible, she has the hands of an angel! I have never had such a pleasant cleaning in my life. This place is awesome, who knew the dentist could be so fun!

Negative experience: They don’t care about ANY colored people here. Was told by MANAGER ASHLEY that it’s not HER fault I couldn’t get my tooth pulled by the oral surgeon earlier in the week due to FINANCIAL reason and that they have gone above and beyond to help me when all they could’ve done is informed me to just call the oral surgeon if they couldn’t help me any further. Well Ashley while is true that was NOT the nature of the call. I had called earlier in the day since I haven’t slept for 3 days due to throbbing pain that didn’t start to happen until AFTER I left them for xrays and nurse SAMANTHA told me the dentist was with someone and I should get a call back. ASHLEY claims that I caught an attitude with her when all I was asking was if I was going to receive a call back. This office definitely needs to have phone conversations recorded because now ASHLEY claims what she said wasn’t said in the manner that she said it. I would love to have the HEAD person of this establishment to call me or contact me. I will be sure to tell people how awful I was treated. I will say Dr. Buckwalter was very professional when he did examine my teeth. He gets 5+ stars. Unless he spoke ill of me off record.

Fantastic experience: Great experience today! I went in for a chipped filling never expected to have any work done today to help my discomfort but did! Dr Ryan Buckwalter was super informative, funny ( much needed at the dentist), did a thorough and excellent job, his assistant was also amazing and the staff at the desk were wonderful and kind. It feels very safe at this time and I felt they were all doing a very good job with Covid protocols. Thank you! They also have a great yearly plan!

After my first visit I will be continuing to come back for years to come. The staff are extremely friendly and Dr. Buckwalter took time to answer all my questions. I'd highly recommend going to them!

Fantastic experience: I just switched to Hillcrest after being with the same dentist for 35 years. So far, I couldn't ask for a friendlier, hygienic, thorough, polite and informative dental practice. Their office is bright, clean, convenient and easy to find with GPS. They are also very fair with their pricing. They offer a dental preventative plan, and it sounds like a bargain. Dr. Ryan Buckwalter seems more than cooperative to let his patients make their dental decisions after he gives you complete, easy to understand options with likely outcomes. I'll likely recommend this practice too many others.

Fantastic experience: I am very grateful for Dr. Buckwalter, Debbie at the front desk, and the rest of the staff at Hillcrest Dental. I had a crown (placed by my previous dentist, Blueridge Family Dentistry) break and crack off on a Friday night. The dentist who placed the crown does not provide a resource for patients to call in case of dental emergencies. Now that I see Dr. Buckwalter, I called the office on Friday night and found out that he has a phone number for his patients to reach him. I find this to be incredibly valuable and respectable. I contacted him around 8pm on Friday at this phone number and he very kindly and patiently calmed my distress regarding my broken crown and assured me that it was not an emergency, but to have this fixed sooner rather than later. In addition, he shared a lot of information with me that was extremely helpful and calmed my worry. I found this to be very upstanding as it was a Friday night after hours. In addition, I would also give my first appointment at this office 5 stars because of how thorough and straight forward this practice is. Not only was Dr. Buckwalter kind and personable, I was impressed with the way that they communicated everything clearly, thoroughly explained insurance information to me, and gave me a print out of the work I need to have done, what insurance might pay, as well as the cost to me. Today, I spent many hours on the phone with my old dentist, my insurance company, and Debbie from Hillcrest who helped me through the process to repair my crown. She squeezed me in to have it fixed tomorrow. I highly recommend this practice and Dr. Buckwalter, as do our friends and family.

Fantastic experience: I recently had work done on 4 teeth. Not something I was looking forward to, but Dr. Buckwalter did an excellent job and made the experience as comfortable as possible. His work was spot on so my bite felt really great and back to normal. My whole family loves Hillcrest! The people are always caring and professional. A very pleasant experience!

They take scheduled appointments seriously and don’t make you wait. Their equipment is also updated regularly which I appreciate since modern equipment is more efficient and carries fewer health risks than older equipment. Keep up the great work Hillcrest!
