Sonia Dhillon DDS

Negative experience: I initially went to this office for an emergency root canal, and my first experience was very positive. The dentist was kind, friendly, and made me feel comfortable. Everything went well, and I left with a great impression. A few months later, she strongly recommended another root canal on a different tooth. I told her I wasn't having any pain or sensitivity in that area and didn't feel that I needed a root canal, but she continued to insist it was necessary. I eventually agreed to have the procedure. Unfortunately, that root canal was not done properly. An X-ray performed by a specialist confirmed that the filling material had extended too far into my nasal area. Since that procedure, I have had ongoing nasal problems that I am still dealing with today. Even after that, I continued going back for routine cleanings. During those visits, she again insisted that I needed another root canal. This time, I decided to get a second opinion from another dentist, who confirmed that the tooth she wanted to treat did not need a root canal at all. It's unfortunate because my first experience was so positive, but my later experiences were extremely disappointing. I am still dealing with the nasal issues caused by the improperly performed root canal, and I wish I had sought a second opinion sooner.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to doctor Dhillon for years. She is very professional, fast, and always does a good job. I personally have an issue with being numb which triggers anxiety. For this reason, I ask not be get numb and tolerate the pain. Any other dentist will tell me to find someone else. However, Dr Dhillon has been very accommodating and making sure I am comfortable every visit. I will continue going to her for years to come. Office staff is very nice and personable. I highly recommend Dr Dhillon and her team.

Fantastic experience: We recently moved to Livermore and stumbled upon Dr. Dhillon’s office. It was a no brainer, my husband and I selected her and her team as our primary dental care provider due to the high ratings and positive reviews. The team is very thorough and super considerate of our needs. Would highly recommend!

Negative experience: Arrogant, greedy DDS! Sonia wouldn't give a prescription for antibiotics to be taken before procedures. Sonia said I had a tooth that needed to be worked on. I declined telling her "next visit I would ", and I never came back. I've been to another dentist several times & they've never mentioned anything about that tooth. Sonia talked down to me every visit (AFTER I did a review- which she pushes constantly until you do it) When I let her know every dentist I've had since childhood has given a prescription for amox. Sonia became more arrogant than ever refusing to give a antibiotic prescription. That was the last straw but to top it off was the woman that was supposed to clean my teeth. She did the absolute worst painful job plus she is the woman that pointed out the supposed tooth issue to Sonia whom agreed with her The woman cleaning my teeth said condescending things like do you know how to floss your teeth, you make a 'c' with the floss. (Rolling her eyes throughout the cleaning) It was hard not to laugh when I sarcastically said "I didn't know that" but she was too ignorant to catch on. The other employees in Sonia's office were very kind. I feel sorry for them as Sonia treated them poorly as well. I had several issues in that office but I will only mention one more or I would be here for hours. I had a mold of my teeth done there as I grind my teeth when sleeping. I was over charged and had to practically beg several times to get money she owed me back... Greedy

Fantastic experience: I had a bad toothache and have severe anxiety going to the dentist, so of course I was very fearful when I walked in the door. However, the staff were so kind and made me feel very comfortable right away. Once Dr. Dhillon came in and talked me through everything and understood my hesitancy she also put me at ease. I ended up having to have a root canal and the whole time she kept checking to make sure I was okay and was very patient and compassionate. I would highly recommend anyone go see her!

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience at Dr. Sonia's clinic. I was in pain and had reached out to a few other dentists, endodontists and oral surgeons and I could only get through the frontdesk for all of them and they could only fit me in for a consultation a week later despite sharing the images. Melody at Dr Sonia's office was prompt to schedule me in at the earliest and Dr Sonia called me as soon as I she reviewed the images and made time to see me the same day, discuss the treatment plan, get me started on antibiotics and pain relief and shedule the procedure within 48 hours. Best part was that she treated the pain, understood my anxiety around visiting dentists and was able to treat both the RCT and extraction in the same visit. Very rarely have I seen any doctors comfortable in sharing their personal phone and openeing up a channel of direct communication. Dr. Apoorva and her assistant Nemo, who did the procedure were very gentle and answered all my questions before and during the procedure. l was completely at ease! For the first time maybe, I am looking forward to the dentist visits to compete the implants. They were upfront about the costs too, which was nice. They are open on weekends which is a bonus.

I’ve had some negative experiences that have stayed with me and so when I moved to the Livermore area from San Francisco about 3 years ago I was reluctant to start the search for a new dentist. But I had some deferred dentistry that I needed to take care of so eventually found my way to Dr. Sonia Dhillon’s office because of her strong reviews. Dr. Dhillon and I got off on the right foot straight away. She listened to me and made me feel calm and heard. I have since had multiple experiences in her chair and all have been flawless. And beyond the chair, it is obvious that she has a great rapport with her staff and other clients, which makes me feel even more comfortable. I highly recommend Dr. Dhillon and am so happy to have discovered her in my new hometown.

Negative experience: I went for check up and cleaning and the doctor never told about the problems with my tooth. I was informed about the problems when I visited another dentist next time. Also they charged 75$ extra to my insurance for home medications which my insurance declined and they never gave any medicines. When I checked with them they said some stories and finally they said it was an incorrect code. They said they will give the money back but I never received. Also they did just a checkup for my daughter and no cleaning was done. But they billed hell lot of services to insurance and got money from insurance. Very worst service and would never visit them.

Dr. Dhillon and her team was able to squeeze me in their busy schedule for an emergency wisdom teeth extraction a couple days later, and as a first time patient! Background: I found Dr. Dhillon on google when I moved to the area and decided to give her a try due to all the amazing reviews - I was NOT disappointed and is the main reason I wanted to leave one also. I've now been going to Dr. Dhillon for over two years and had a TON of work done there so this is a thorough review after many visits. Also, my parents were in the dental field so I know more about teeth than I would even like to - ha! Bedside manner: My single favorite thing about Dr. Dhillon is her demeanor - she's not only a great dentist but she's a kind, loving and empathetic human. She's just all around lovely - she makes going to the dentist pleasant... like visiting your favorite aunt. I've overheard her interact during a few emergency dentist situations while I was in the office and she always leads with care and concern - making the patient, young or old, as comfortable as possible. I once had a friend who didn't have dental insurance (sadly, like many people in America) and she worked with him to help him remediate a painful situation quickly and for a beyond reasonable cost. (she would have probably even lost money taking the case) Knowledge: She's extremely knowledgable, there is something to be a said about seeing a dentist with decades worth of experience - she's seen it all! Treatment plan: When I first came to Dr. Dhillon I needed a TON of work done (back log from Covid, moving, health issues, etc) but she never rushed me and never pushed me. I once saw a dentist who made everything a "critical" matter - while Dr. Dhillon is very honest about what is truly urgent and what can wait. YOU first: One tooth was on the fence between a crown and a root canal: Dr. Dhillon helped me avoid a root canal and did everything to just replace a broken crown. I feel many other dentists would have pushed a root canal. Scheduling: I have never had an issue with scheduling an appt when I needed. The office is busy but they do a stelar job at time management because I've been able to get in as early as the next day and I never wait more than 5 mins before my appt. The Staff: The staff is just as lovely and kind as Dr. Dhillon. They're so friendly and knowledge. If you're reading this I'm sure you've experienced wonderful doctors that had a terrible front desk staff - not here. Pricing/Billing - I love that the pricing is TRANSPARENT - up front - and I never worry that I will be billed incorrectly or hit with a surprise bill. The staff also knows the ins and outs of insurance and really works with you and your insurance company. All in all, as you can see, a true 5 star office.

I had two cavities filled and a deep cleaning today and the experience was great considering my fear of dental work. No pain, she's fast and does high quality dental work. The office staff has always been warm and welcoming, and Dr. Dhillon herself is warm, caring and compassionate which I find to be highly desirable qualities in a dentist. She checked in regularly with me to make sure I was comfortable. The office also does their best to work with you on out of pocket portions of the dental work. The staff greets you with a smile and asks you "how are you today" and you can feel the kind concern that they care. Dr. D 1st was the 1st (and only) dentist that my two teenagers (age 16 & 17 now) have ever gone to - they were 5 and 4, respectively at their very 1st visit.
