Fantastic experience: Chittenden Dental is one of a kind. I’m so glad Mike Morris, is a biological dentist in Vermont, I think the only one… Why do I seek this dentist? He has the proper procedure and knowledge for removing the dangerous metal, mercury fillings, out of my teeth for a healthier approach to wellness. Every day, those of you with mercury fillings are being poisoned by the vapor from hot drinks or food… I’m having all of mine removed the safe way. Thanks Doctor Morris for your great service. That feedback was a year ago. I’m feeling much better today than I did last year. Mainly because all of my amalgams and metal crown were removed. I’m detoxing heavy metals through the Pompa Program, a brilliant program using a safe approach and effective treatment. Thanks to God for his help finding a cure. I was heading towards dementia. Wealth is health. Nothing is cheap to get well. It’s worth it. Dr Morris can be part of the wellness in getting you well. He has a lot to offer in dental wellness and sleep wellness. Highly recommended.

Negative experience: I was looking for a new dentist! They did all the xrays and then made me pay for the next appointment for a cleaning already but I had a tooth that was hurting so bad went home and before the next had to go someplace else for an emergency root canal. Im.no dentist and knew that may be the problem he didnt want to adress it for another month or so and at that point then id have no tooth as the decay and infection would of set it. Im glad I didnt stay here id have no real teeth left and I've been told veneers and suxh are his specialty so....... im only 35 no thanks on the fakes my teeth look beautiful just some need a little more work. Also they didnt want to release my xrays. Or even give a copy for the emergency dentist I was using. Very unprofessional and dont actually treat the real problems when needed.

Negative experience: EDIT: I was just hung up on twice after asking to receive an explanation of charges. They have now blocked my number from calling….I've never experienced this level of unprofessionalism from a doctor:::: Dr. Mike was incredibly rude and predatory. They try to push you into unnecessary procedures quickly. Was told I had multiple cavities, but after reading more reviews I’m realizing that could be a lie as well. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable from a medical professional in my life. He spent 90% of the time talking about his TMJ experience and then the last 10% about how much money he could charge me. DO NOT GO HERE. I was wholeheartedly scammed today by this office.

Fantastic experience: Steve is a great dentist. He has taken care of my family for a number of years. We love him. He is thorough, but does not force procedures on you that aren't necessary, which I have encountered with other dentists in the past. The new owner, Dr. Mike Morris, is in my view, the antithesis of Steve. I left the practice. In my view, Dr Morris tries to upsell EVERYONE all the time. All of the prior hygienists left, to my knowledge, largely because of this. For instance, the practice sells people on TMJ/jaw treatment. I mean virtually everyone is told they need costly imaging and testing for major jaw/posture dental issues, notwithstanding that, they have never been alerted to any such problems prior to Dr Morris usually after having been seen by multiple dentists before (and after) him. This includes people in their 70s. In my view, it’s highly improbable that such a disproportionate number of patients need specialized treatment for major “undiscovered” jaw issues. Buyer beware.

I came in with several dental concerns. What I found was not just a dentist, but a partner in my health and well-being. I had been dealing with constant jaw pain and tension, frequent headaches, and occasional clicking or popping when I opened my mouth. Over time, I also noticed that my teeth were shifting slightly, and I was clenching more during the day—especially under stress. After a thorough evaluation, including digital X-rays, bite analysis, and photos, Dr. Morris explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. Dr. Morris recommended starting with a MAGO appliance to stabilize my bite. I had tried nightguards from other dentists before, but nothing seemed to help. But this was different. The MAGO (Maxillary Anterior Guided Orthotic) is a custom-made appliance that fits over the upper teeth and helps position the jaw in a more neutral, healthy alignment. It’s not a generic nightguard; it’s a therapeutic tool designed to reset and reprogram how your jaw functions. After just a few weeks of wearing the MAGO full-time, I started to notice a dramatic reduction in my symptoms. The tension in my jaw and neck began to ease, and I was no longer waking up with dull headaches. The constant awareness of my bite—feeling like it was “off” all the time—completely disappeared. The attention to detail during this process was incredible. Every adjustment was precise, and Dr. Morris explained each step so I knew exactly what was happening and why. Within a few weeks, I received my custom aligners and began the treatment. What impressed me most was how closely my progress was monitored. Every few weeks, I came in for quick check-ins where they tracked tooth movement, made sure I was on schedule, and answered any questions I had. I never felt like I was just “on my own” with a box of trays—I had professional guidance every step of the way. By the end of treatment, my smile had completely transformed. After completing Invisalign, I decided to go all in and get professional teeth whitening to finish off my smile makeover. The results were phenomenal and because they were freshly straightened, the whitening really enhanced the overall appearance of my smile. It looked clean, polished, and healthy without being fake or overly bright. It’s easy to find a dental office that offers cleanings and checkups. But finding one that genuinely listens, educates, and customizes treatment based on your unique goals and concerns is something rare!

Negative experience: I just want to add to the chorus of voices saying DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST! I'll be brief: I went in for a routine cleaning. I was told that I had 5 cavities that needed to be drilled and filled, I was told that I would need some kind of surgery for being tongue tied, and that I probably had sleep apnea but would need further testing. I later got a second opinion and it turned out that I didn't have any cavities, was not tongue tied, and I didn't bother asking about sleep apnea because I have never had any sleep issues. I also just wanted to add that Dr. Morris' bedside manner made me so uncomfortable that I had a full melt down when I left the office. If you are a young woman I do not suggest going there at all, but especially not alone.

I have been to Chittenden Dental + Wellness multiple times over the last several months. I have received the best care possible each and every time. I have heard the good the bad and the ugly about my situation, with professionalism and thoughtful explanation. All of the anxiety I have had about going to the dentist is gone. I feel good about the transition in my mouth. And I am confident in the plan we came up with together. Dr Mike is amazing. His office staff is so kind and helpful. Fantastic experience: EDIT - They reached out to me and remedied the situation and returned my deposit. I caught them at a bad time due to a family emergency, therefore my initial review is not a negative reflection on this practice! I scheduled a new patient appointment online and paid the 50 dollars to set it up. I arrived at 12:55 pm for my appointment and the door was locked. I figured it’d lunch hour so I waited until 1 and it was still locked. Now it’s 1:12 and the door is still locked and I called with no answer. It’s a bummer because I left work early and took time out of my day to drive the 20+ minutes to get here.

Fantastic experience: Finally! I have been dealing with issues for years and was passed on to specialist after specialist. I was referred to Dr. Morris and immediately knew he was different. At the first visit he listened carefully to what I was experiencing, he wasn't sure what was going on but had a specific plan on what needed to be done to figure it out. Once tests and imaging were done, he spent time with me explaining the results, answering questions, and coming up with a treatment plan that would work for me. This has never happened to me with a doctor or a dentist, so I was not only impressed with the care he spent on my issue, but with the fact that he did not dismiss me so quickly and pass the buck as others have. His staff is just as caring and accommodating and I have not stopped singing their praises since I left the office!

Fantastic experience: The office is super great about communications, and the entire team takes care to explain what is planned and expected on all sides. Dr Morris has invested thoughtfully in technology for both imaging and treatment. Most important for me, he and his hygienist, Brenda, are knowledgeable about how dental health and the rest of the body relate to one another. Brenda is also an occupational therapist for jaw issues, and I will be starting therapy with her soon so I will stop grinding my teeth away and cracking them. Fantastic experience: I began seeing Dr. Mike Morris at Chittenden Dental after a referral from a friend for my TMJ and not being happy with my smile. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the staff, who made me feel right at home. The office itself is clean, modern, and equipped with the latest technology, which immediately put me at ease. Dr. Mike fitted me for a MAGO appliance and less than four months after starting treatment, my TMJ is gone (with NO surgery). Dr. Mike is not only incredibly knowledgeable but also takes the time to explain every procedure in detail, ensuring that I felt comfortable every step of the way. His calm demeanor and professionalism instilled confidence in me, and it was clear that he truly cares about his patients. I was so impressed with Dr. Mike and his staff that I've switched from another local "chain" dental office to Chittenden Dental for all my dental care. After my positive experience with the MAGO treatment, I've begun further treatment with Dr. Mike using Invisalign along with upper palate expansion using another appliance called a MARPE. The procedure to install the MARPE did not require any expensive or painful surgery, but rather an outpatient appointment that took only 2 hours (along with over-the-counter pain relief). Recovery time was just a few days. All costs were explained in advance, we discussed payment options, and there were no surprises along the way. The dental hygienist, Brenda, is also remarkable—gentle, thorough, and super friendly! She made the usual dental concerns feel much less intimidating. I appreciated how she answered all my questions with patience and provided valuable tips for my dental care. Overall, my experience at Chittenden Dental has been nothing short of wonderful. I left the office with a bright smile and peace of mind, knowing I’m in good hands. I highly recommend Dr. Mike Morris and his exceptional staff to anyone looking for a top-notch dental practice!

Fantastic experience: Update March 2025 I continue to be beyond satisfied with the level of dental skill and kindness I encounter at Chittenden Dental, especially when I feel nervous. Update September 30, 2021 Dr. Mike and company continue to keep my smile healthy and happy. I had a perio cleaning with Brenda today. They have taught me how to take care of my gums AND they did all the work needed to bring them to a happy place. That means that today my cleaning was a celebration of how my teeth are now much healthier, which makes me super happy. I am SO grateful that this dental practice is close to me in Burlington, VT. Update May 14, 2021 I went on a walk today with a friend. He mentioned what an amazing job that Chittenden Dental had done on my teeth. My new smile makes me very happy. Dr. Mike is going to be making my smile better by working on my two front teeth soon. More about that next time. I constantly recommend this practice to my friends. They a e the BEST! Update March 2020: My gums are receding a bit, so I had a deep cleaning today. Wow, do my teeth feel clean. Not only that but the process was explained to me step by step and I know I'm making my mouth healthier. AND...I was taught how to take care of my teeth moving forward. I applied some of what I was taught about brushing and flossing during my last cleaning and several of my 'sensitive' areas no longer feel sensitive. I ADORE this dental practice and everyone who cares for me there. And they really do CARE. Update: They did it AGAIN! My final two crowns were finished up a few days ago. Three things you should know: 1. I'm a scaredy cat and Doctor Mike and everyone at the practice tells me exactly what they are about to do during each step of the process in a way that makes me feel secure AND cared about. 2. My crowns look gorgeous - perfect color, size, and shape, AND they function beautifully. 3. Everyone at the practice is kind and caring. I cannot recommend them highly enough. When you add kindness and compassion to mad skills you end up with the perfect dental team. I highly recommend Chittenden Dental to health conscious folks who want to feel seen and heard at the dentist’s P.S. Chittenden Dental put 2 new crowns in for me today. Crowns are supposed to be beautiful AND stay put. These are both! They match the rest of my teeth perfectly and they are solidly secure. Add that to the gentle skilled touch of all who work in this dental practice and I do indeed feel like a princess.

Negative experience: I had set up an appointment for today to go in for a routine cleaning. I’m a young female who does not always know how to navigate doctors and dentists. During our text conversations before the appointment they tried upselling me on all sorts of stuff that i honestly couldn’t afford. I made it clear that all I could afford was the cleaning. Everything was going well until I got out of the chair and hit with a 650 dollar bill they refused to send to insurance. I feel taken advantage of, used, and abused. I spent every dollar in my account just so I could get out of the forceful billing department. Please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. These doctors don’t believe in their oath to protect you they just want to steal your money.

Fantastic experience: I was looking for a good dentist, which is very hard to find. I had an existing dentist here in the Burlington VT area, but this dentist was part of a large chain group. I didn't want to be treated like just one sheep in a herd anymore. I wanted dental work explained to me. I didn't want to feel rushed, or treated like a child. I walked past the Chittenden Dental office and they had a sign saying that they are accepting new patients. So I called them, made an appointment, and was blown away. Everything is explained to you, you are treated as a professional and nothing is rushed. You are given options, and the quality of care is by far the best I have ever experienced. I am now a Chittenden Dental Patient and I will NEVER leave them.

Negative experience: I had posted a review previously but it seems to have been removed, which is surprising because it was a fairly favorable review. I've come to amend that. Please DO NOT go to this dentist. They had claimed I had 8 cavities, needed a root canal, and a lip and tongue tie procedure. When I went to get a second opinion it turns out I don't need ANY of those procedures. Had I continued with them I would have been scammed out of thousands of dollars that would have undoubtedly not been covered my my insurance.

Negative experience: I have a dental insurance that I didn’t know that it is out-of-network. The staff is aware of this but never informed me at all. She let me in and surprised me with the bill that I need to pay upfront. Though she finally filed the claim for me, but I didn’t have to pay almost half of the expense if I visited the in-network one.

Negative experience: I was a patient with Chittenden Dental for a few months about a year ago. They have an interesting policy where they charge you, and then have the insurance reimburse you. This is to "benefit the patient", according to their website. Sounds sketchy, but this was the first dentist I was going to after moving out of my parents house, so I figured I'd trust that they knew what they were doing. They immediately pushed me into a completely unnecessary procedure that cost me nearly 1000 dollars and were trying to push me into further procedures that would leave me in debt. After realizing that the insurance wasn't going to reimburse me, because it was a completely unnecessary procedure, which took about 6 months to receive word, I realized what had happened. They had taken advantage of my trust and scammed me. After filing a compliant with the consumer compliant office, they contacted me with their lawyers on retainer claiming that I agreed to the price and therefore they were not liable. I have no recollection of this and don't believe I would agree to this since it would have cost me the extent of my savings at the time, but since they have it in my record, I cannot refute this. If you are simply looking for a routine cleaning/procedure, look elsewhere. They are not contracted with insurance companies and you will have to pay the cost of out pocket and this was not made clear to me before my appointments with them.

Fantastic experience: This is a review by Laura (not Alex) I highly recommend Chittenden Dental! Never before have I experienced a dentist who takes his time with me. I didn't feel rushed. Instead, I felt like we were on a mission together to improve my teeth Dr. Morris went out of his way to take pictures of my teeth to show me what was happening inside my mouth. From someone who really distrusts dentists, he has gained my trust.

Negative experience: I brought my boyfriend here and the dentist came in. He asked if my boyfriend was a doctor and that the dentist “talks to doctors differently”, meaning that if you don’t know that the dentist there is trying to scam you into doing a whole bunch of tests THAT YOU DO NOT NEED, they will scam you into them. They aggressively asked for payment, which is customary to ask for but they did so i’m a very unprofessional manner. We were the only other patients there so they were in no rush, which if they were I would understand why they would be so aggressive but they had time. They had sparkling seltzer in the the waiting room and for those in the know, know that anything with carbonation is awful for your teeth. I would not recommend this dentist. Quack office. They also did not accept the insurance given which they did not tell us upfront. We are both struggling college students struggling to make rent let alone spend over $700 bucks for a teeth cleaning. Dr. Mike said there was no cavities on my boyfriends x-rays but I was there and saw them. I saw bad cavities. This poor guy already had bad experiences with dentists in the past. I’m gonna be lucky to ever get him in to see a dentist again… thanks…

Negative experience: I was incredibly disappointed with my visit to this office, I went in as I was in a lot of pain and my dentist was out of town and they referred me to this office, I spent $301.00 for nothing but a lot of chat about how good he was and how bad my dentist was. Left with nothing but an antibiotic. Go somewhere else when you need a dentist.

Negative experience: Updating my 3 year old review to reflect their current service: They are no longer in network with any insurance company. On their website they claim this is to prevent patients from "treating only what insurance covers" as if charging them at the time of visit full price is any more accessible. Long story short, I was given comprehensive x-rays too soon after my latest x-rays for it to even be submitted for insurance. I paid for these out of pocket. The x-rays didn't reveal much, the tooth I had suspicions about was visually affirmed to be the issue. After going here for a number of years, including a painfully healed wisdom tooth surgery, being suggested a range of expensive procedures, such as mouth guards, jaw alignment appointments, as well as bizarre and unclear comments on sleep apnea and sleep quality relating to ADHD, I'm going to say that they're very focused on the financial aspect of things. Every visit was a "new" frontier they claimed was the ticket to figuring it all out. First they claimed it was my jaw and mouth shape preventing my teeth from sitting right, and how I should get a custom mouth guard, then it was how I probably have sleep apnea because of my mouth shape and I should somehow get checked out by Dr. Mike, but I had to affirm with the dental assistant/hygienist that that visit was of course not covered by insurance. Every appointment felt like an upsell to a consultation that wouldn't be covered. And my issues never were fully resolved despite the investment. Also don't go here if you're anxious about tooth removals, the dentist will tell you 10 times that he "hiked a mountain right after he got his wisdom teeth removed". Also be conscious about what insurance covers because they likely wont be upfront. At the very least the dental hygienists are very informative even though it's all a little weird.

The MAGO device he recommended to me has changed the way I sleep and function on a life changing level. I can't recommended this place enough for everything they have done and are currently doing for me. Friendly atmosphere and incredible levels of professionalism and knowledge in the field they focus in.

The interactions I've had with Dr. Morris have been pleasant, and the environment he has cultivated is one of comfort and calmness (not always the case in a dentist office!). Fantastic experience: My first appt was for a cleaning. I decided to change dentists because my prior dental appt with my previous dentist was canceled and I couldn't get rescheduled til AFTER Jan '23...really? I saw my favorite CVS pharmacist in a TV commercial for Chittenden Dental and thought, I'm going to transfer my dental records and give this practice a try, so I scheduled an appt. Ms B, my hygienist, is a very informative, friendly and very chatty person . Dr Mike is, well, nothing short from amazing. He spent at least 20 minutes examining, explaining and discussing a plan to bring my health to a better state. Mind you, I have very good dental hygiene, so Ms B says, but my TMJ condition should have been treated differently by my past Ortho. When I left the office, I felt like like I was now on the right path of healing. I also felt like I wasted a year and $$$$ for my previous TMJ treatment, so very upsetting. I'm looking forward to la ong and happy relationship with my new dental practice. Only good things to come.

Positive experience: A decent experience except for the less than transparent billing and my temporary crown promptly falling off right after it was put on by Dr. Morris. It was then replaced the next day by an assistant (who did a great job, thanks Kevin). What I ended up paying was more then what I was told the upper estimate would be even after accounting for insurance coverage. A procedure I asked to be delayed so that I could pay for it, was done anyway. I was then able to pay for it when I ready too, later, which then complicated the billing unnecessarily but the real point is that procedures are THE PATIENT'S CHOICE NOT the Dr's. There was disregard for what I asked for. I was happy to get Brenda as my hygienist and LJ as receptionist (though LJ is now gone). Sam was also lovely (and gentle). All three were knowledgeable, thorough, and kind. Brenda's care and pride in her work is wonderful not only for my mouth and teeth, but because it was so pleasant to spend time with her. She was very thorough. Small conveniences and considerations like being texted Covid questions in advance, music in the lobby and coffee if you want within a quiet office are awesome but so would straightforward billing, and patient rights and while I can somewhat appreciate a "whole" approach to treating the jaw, mouth, and teeth, I don't think or "believe" it actually is *always* entirely necessary and that it will "fix" other potentially unrelated issues. Sometimes perhaps, but also sometimes no. It is quite a generalization when someone (especially a doctor) says they have to "fix everything" to fix anything though I can definitely appreciate that there can be multiple influencing factors for anything that has already occurred (given that humans function systemically). But no, Dr. Morris, dental billing and insurance is not comparable to ordering food from a restaurant and being anything less than specific and competent about insurance, billing, and procedures is precisely unkind. (Edited 7/18/22 to reflect the full experience).

Fantastic experience: The feeling and actual experience I receive with Dr. Michael Morris and his staff, but particularly with Dr. Morris is that I am receiving what must be considered 'state of the art' dental treatment and consideration. The goal and results are to have as balanced a meeting of the teeth as possible and to have the teeth in as healthy a condition as possible. I did not know that Dr. Morris had taken an additional training in Bio-Aesthetic Dentistry. I appreciate that our son Johannes Ziegler, recommended that I see Dr.Morris. It has been well worth the extra time and finances that it takes for this kind of evaluation and follow up care. Thank you Dr. Morris and Staff. It is a pleasure to get to know you and step into your office for my appointments. I used to go to the dentist only if a tooth started hurting, almost at a last resort. Now I am bering taken care of and I am taking better care of my almost 8 decade teeth. This made it really easy to schedule an appointment and fill out the new patient forms online. The people working here are very intelligent and helpful. During my filling, I was asked my favorite type of music and they put it on. Having music to listen to made my experience that much better. Dr. Mike also helped me realize that I have a clenching/ grinding issue which will help me in the future. If anyone is looking for a dentist I highly recommend Chittenden Dental.

Negative experience: I don’t usually write reviews, but I choose this dentist because of all their good reviews, so I think it’s important to share my experience. I admit the staff is very friendly, but that is where the good qualities end. I recently moved to Vermont and went for a routine cleaning and films, they told me I had 12 cavities. This was a surprise, so I asked to send my x-rays to my dentist from before the move for a second opinion. When I requested the films they said if I went to another dentist they would refuse to do any further cleanings or treatment for me. My previous dentist said they detected no cavities on the x-rays. Beyond that, Chittenden Dental seemed to really believe that everything originates from the jaw, the hygienist recommended their special jaw realignment treatment that of course isn’t covered by insurance, and even asked me why I had asthma, “maybe it’s connected to the jaw?” I do not recommend going to see this dentist, at best they’re really trying to sell you something, and at worst they’re untrustworthy.

Fantastic experience: Thank you Dr. Morris and his amazing staff for their comprehensive care approach to dentistry. My wife had braces that relapsed multiple times and caused her to have TMJ issues and headaches. Dr. Morris is currently addressing her jaw issue by putting her in an orthotic and has not had a headache since then. We know there is a long road ahead but am happy we are traveling it with Chittenden Dental!

Fantastic experience: Dr Morris takes you beyond ordinary dentistry. He understands why teeth break down AND how to restore not only your teeth and smile, but the jaw joints. This is the future of dentistry. As a Chiropractor, I understand the relationship between the spine and skull. Dr Morris completes the picture by addressing the critical need to balance the teeth and jaw so the head can balance over the spine. Not the least expensive, just the best value.

Fantastic experience: I am really happy with my first visit and the decision to try a new dentist. Right when you walk in you can see the commitment to patient care (with a mission statement tastefully framed and hung by the receptionist). They use impressive technology (no need to get up for the X-ray) and show you your teeth via a shared computer screen, explaining everything. I never knew what my hygienist and assistant were doing in the past, they just worked away and talked about their kids. This was totally different. I felt completely in the know and empowered, and also dumbfounded that there was so much I didn’t know beyond just my teeth but my jaw, tongue, neck pain... I was glad I committed to getting top care and if there are extra costs (I have delta dental, so far totally reasonable) I know it’s in my best interest for long term health. Fantastic experience: I have spent most of my lifetime trying to find a dentist that could fix my teeth correctly. I have researched and analyzed the best dentist. When I saw Dr. Morris credentials and education I was very impressed! The staff are extremely friendly, accommodating and supportive. My first visit at the dentist office was outstanding! Dr. Morris was able to give me an indepth overall comprehensive detailed explanation for the problems with my teeth, jaw, and alignment issues. Rather than being just one tooth or teeth he gave me a broad intelllectual perspective of the whole problem. I am looking forward to getting my teeth fixed correctly. Usually a dental visit is very scary to me but I feel confident and I know my teeth will be fixed to perfection.

I've had many dentists over my 50+ years across 4 states and the team at Chittenden provides the best care I have experienced. Dr. Mike and his team truly care about their patient's comfort and ease. They explain everything as they go and Dr. Mike even follows up after a procedure with a personal call to see how you feel! The receptionist and scheduling is friendly and accommodating and what I appreciate most is the 1-week ahead text reminder of an upcoming appointment! Dr. Mike is also rare in the fact he sent me for a second opinion to be be sure he was on the right track for a challenging procedure that I faced. Even if you are outside of the Burlington area, it's worth the trip to Chittenden for their expertise and care! Bonus: Dr. Mike subscribes to Spotify and you get to choose your own background music while there!
