Negative experience: Made my son wait eight months to get a cavity filled, got worse, and now he needs dental surgery done. They would not get us in urgently or understand what they did. Said they could see us another YEAR out, horrible.
Fantastic experience: We love Dr. Murphy; best Pedi dentist around. We have been seeing him for almost 12 years! They are Very clean, the girls are awesome take their time and make my kids very comfortable! We wouldn’t recommend any one else!
Positive experience: The expectations live up to the reviews. All staff encountered were great, especially the doctor (Dr. Murphy?)! He is very kind, friendly, and approachable. He gave us all the facts and options. It felt like we took our little one to a family friend for their medical expertise. His bedside manners were fabulous - what every dental or medical professional should strive for. Four stars due to it being a practice strictly for children only; I wanted to switch over the whole family to personally get the same tender care kids do (due to childhood dentistry PTSD).
Fantastic experience: We love Dr. Murphy and his staff! We’re always seen promptly, get great care, and awesome service! I highly recommend this office and Dr. Murphy.
Fantastic experience: Dr Murphy and staff are absolutely incredible with children and made this scary experience so enjoyable! My kids were so nervous and they made the entire experience relaxed and even fun for them! Would highly recommended to anyone!
Fantastic experience: Dr Murphy is the absolute best! Genuinely cares about his patients. He even calls hours after procedures to check on the kids Wouldn’t choose anyone else for my children!
Fantastic experience: Love Dr.Murphy and his entire staff! Everyone is friendly, kind and great with my kids. We’ve been with the practice for years.
Negative experience: I brought my two sons here, both starting at 1. We had a good experience until my oldest was 5 and developed a few cavities. We brush twice a day and floss so I was a flabbergasted at the news. The conversation about filling the cavities was incredibly short with no detail at the very end of our appointment. Who ever was helping us at the end said they'd call me when they figured out dates for the fillings and we could chat more then. No one ever called, the next time I heard from them was to confirm the multiple appointments they had made. When I questioned why that was how the situation was handled and suggested a new place may be a better fit for us, the receptionist responded by saying "We dont take your mass health insurance anymore anyway, so you should." And I was hung up on as she finished the sentence. I immediatly made appointments with a different dentist and then called back to let the Commonwealth office know what had occurred. We currently have private insurance (not MA health) which we found out they never recorded in their system. The receptionist was rude and completely unwarranted. MA Health is supposed to help families, no one should be shamed for having it. Since I knew we were done with their office, I asked that our records be emailed to me. They sent them immediately which was the nicest part of this whole situation. A few days later I received an insanely passive aggressive letter saying we were no longer welcome to bring our kids there as patients and telling us how to get their records.... it wa so unnecessary and we already received their records so it weirdly felt like an angry letter from an EX. We saw our new dentist promptly and were given details about our sons cavities. 4 do not need to be filled the traditional way and the other two can be done together so my son doesnt need to be numbed multiple times. Our new office offers many more options, including laughing gas, which was not available at Commonwealth. They were also very transparent about billing so I left with no questions. I feel valid in wanting a second opinion and I am very happy I removed my kids from an environment that doesnt have their best interest at heart. If you are on the fence about using this dentist, I suggest finding one that doesn't get upset and vindictive when you raise very common/simple concerns and offers all the tools your kids need to have a healthy smile without being traumatized.
Negative experience: If going under anesthesia is the only recommendation: Get a second opinion! So our experience was not with Dr. Murphy. Which is who our family dentist referred us to for cavity assessment. We saw a different dentist there. The atmosphere was chaotic. It is an open bay facility. (However, I do know that could have just been the luck of the day). My son had had multiple cleanings before we went to this office. Very cooperative. No issues. He seemed to not like it here at that time. He would not sit in the chair to be assessed. We were not offered a different time to come back and be re-assessed. We were not offered to see Dr. Murphy who was our referral. It was determined that he would need to be put under anesthesia to assess, xray and treat (Everyone must pay $1600 fyi at separate location for anesthesia it is out of network for everyone) ... I was very uneasy about having no assessment and having him put under... It seemed extreme to me. Especially since there wasn't a psych or medical reason to do so. It took a while for me to bring him back to any other pediatric dentist. I was very uneasy and unaware of the process for cavities, but anesthesia seemed extreme. I eventually stopped in with Dr. Pirner of Easton Pediatric dental... My son walked in and independently had his teeth done as he had always done. Xrays taken. The cavities were found to be extremely superficial. They were handled without any assistance (Novocain, gas, etc) Xrays clean. Unless there is a psych or medical reason a child absolutely needs to be put under anesthesia and it is recommended without assessment and without attempt to fill a cavity first- I HIGHLY recommend a second opinion.
Fantastic experience: Commonwealth Pediatric staff and dentists are always so sweet and accommodating.
Fantastic experience: The team is very professional and great with children who may be nervous about what’s coming next- explaining every step of what was happening. Highly recommend Dr. Murphy and his team!
Negative experience: Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience at this office. My 5 year old son was seen by Dr. Murphy for his first filling, and I was unhappy with how both the doctor and the hygienist handled the appointment. I had high hopes for a “pediatric” dental office, especially since we previously had positive experiences there for cleanings. To begin, the hygienist placed the nitrous oxide mask on my child from behind the chair without any warning or explanation to him about what it was. He was confused about what had just been put on his face, and I had to explain to him that it was extra air to help him breathe. I was surprised that no one prepared him beforehand. After Dr. Murphy did the numbing medication, my son’s mouth became very drooly, which is to be expected for a 5 year old who didn’t know that would happen. Drool was pouring out of his mouth, I was wiping his face with a cloth that quickly became soaked. The hygienist watched and did not offer a dry cloth. She then simply reclined him back in the chair. During the filling itself, my son was very nervous, which I believe is completely normal for a child his age. He cried and moved a little, but nothing that I felt was extreme. If I believed he was moving too much, I absolutely would have asked Dr. Murphy to stop. At one point, Dr. Murphy asked if I wanted to continue. I was confused by the question because I did not feel my son’s behavior was out of the ordinary, and of course I wanted the tooth treated. What was most upsetting was the complete lack of empathy shown. There was no attempt to comfort him. No offering something for him to hold, no suggestion to take a short break, no calming reassurance, no effort to guide him through deep breaths. Instead, both the doctor and hygienist very seriously told him he needed to stop moving. The only supportive strategy used was at the very end, when Dr. Murphy counted down how much time was left. That actually worked well for my son, as he loves counting. It showed me that child appropriate strategies can be effective, which made me question why none were used earlier in the appointment. After the procedure, Dr. Murphy told me, in front of my child, that he did not feel comfortable doing another filling on him and that he would need to be put to sleep for future treatment. I was extremely confused by this statement, as I genuinely did not think my son’s behavior warranted that recommendation. I work with children myself and have seen far more challenging behavior handled successfully. There was also no post appointment guidance given, no information about how long the numbness would last, when he could safely eat, or even a simple check in to see how he was feeling. There wasn’t even a “have a nice day” before moving on to the next patient. It felt very unprofessional. Because I absolutely do not want to put my child under anesthesia unnecessarily, I asked the front desk if Dr. Murphy could call me to discuss the appointment. I also called the office myself requesting a return call later that day so I could share my concerns. I have yet to hear back from him. After speaking with others, I have learned of two very similar experiences happening with other families. It feels as though he may not want to treat children who require a little extra patience and instead defaults to the easier route of sedation. Hearing this has only increased my frustration. I find it very unprofessional that he has not returned my call. We will absolutely not be returning.
Fantastic experience: Every dentist and assistant we’ve worked with in the office have all been amazing! They are always great with my son, patient and thorough. Dr. Murphy also surgically removed one of my sons teeth and he made sure my son and I were put at ease and knew what was happening and to be expected throughout the whole process. There’s a reason so many of my friends and family recommended them when I was looking for a pedi dentist! I highly recommend them to anyone searching for a dentist for their child(ren)!
Fantastic experience: We always have a good experience here. My 7 year old loves going to the dentist so that tells you how well they treat their patients.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Murphy has always been amazing! It’s truly a pleasure working with him. He is kind, patient, and makes every visit a positive experience. The dental hygienists are also wonderful—so friendly and caring. We couldn’t ask for a better pediatric dental office!

Fantastic experience: Fantastic first visit!! Brought my 4 and 2 year old girls! They did great! everyone made us feel super comfortable. Fantastic experience: they make it ez pz and the kid loves it.
Fantastic experience: The hygienist (I wish I could remember her name!) was so great and QUICK with my 6 year old son. I appreciated that. He is autistic and has sensory issues around having his teeth brushed. I was shocked by how comfortable he felt and how well he did with her. He even sat for x-rays! Dr. Murphy is AMAZING as well! He is friendly, kind and patient. I definitely recommend this place!

Fantastic experience: We can't say enough about the staff at Commonwealth Pediatric... Everyone is always so kind and understanding. The hygienists are so good with my anxious boys, and Dr. Murphy is always amazing with them, too. My kids really like how welcome they feel when they are there for appointments. I wish I had a dentist like this when I was a kid! Great place, really!
Fantastic experience: I have been visiting Dr. Murphy’s office with my children for the past 10 years and I couldn’t be more happy with their service and plan to continue. He has a very calm demeanor with the children, and it makes me feel very comfortable. 5 stars!
Negative experience: My 6 year old son had a terrifying and wholly unprofessional experience with Dr. Murphy. I must preface this poor review with the fact that we previously had a handful of routine visits with Dr. Murphy and the other dentist in that office that went well. For this visit, my son had what looked like an abscess around an emerging molar. Dr. Murphy's office made us a next day appointment to check it out. My son has mild autism and does require extra support and patience at doctor's appointments. My son began to get upset during the hygienist's attempts at x-raying the area because he was uncomfortable with how far back in his mouth the device needed to be placed. They hygienist was unable to complete the x-ray. When Dr. Murphy came in my son was already crying and upset to the point where he wasn't opening his mouth wide enough to allow Dr. Murphy to see and clamping down on his mirror. At which point, Dr. Murphy, in a clearly annoyed and frustrated tone, told my son it would be his fault if Dr. Murphy dropped the mirror in his eye. Dr. Murphy proceeded to use his hands to try to force my son to open his mouth. My son screamed that he needed a break. At which point Dr. Murphy responded that there was no time for a break. We couldn't continue much more beyond that. My son was entirely too upset and so was Dr. Murphy. I explained to Dr. Murphy that my son was only 6 and scared to which he snapped at me, "Scared of what?" I chose Dr. Murphy's office because they solely focus on pediatric dentistry and because other reviews described him as kind, patient and understanding but on this day he was none of those things. On this day, Dr. Murphy was harsh and unkind, impatient, and lacked empathy. On my way out, I shared my frustration and disapproval with Dr. Murphy's behavior with the hygienist and the front desk staff. Dr. Murphy called me and apologized soon after I left his office. He said it was "not his best day" and he would do better next time. While I do appreciate the apology, my family will not be returning to his office.
Fantastic experience: I love Dr. Murphy and his staff at Commonwealth Pediatric Dental! I moved to the Taunton area and posted on a mom page on Facebook for a dentist in the area and nearly everyone said Dr Murphy! I wish he did adult dentistry as well for me! But my kids love him and the hygienists are so friendly and nice and they are great with one of my boys who let’s say is not a fan of the dentist!
Fantastic experience: Can’t say enough positive things about our experience here. The front desk staff were so nice. Julie did an incredible job making my 4.5 year old twins feel comfortable during their first cleaning. Dr. Murphy is just awesome.
Fantastic experience: My seven year old son had his first visit here yesterday. Due to insurance changes, we had to find a new dentist. My son is autistic and super anxious with all medical appointments, given his past medical history. Miss Julie and the whole staff were so patient with him, and really took the time to explain everything they were doing to my son, and made him feel safe, and made sure to let him know his concerns and anxiety were valid, but that he would be ok. They really worked through it with him and got the job done. When we were leaving, my son yelled, “Best dentist ever!”. Happy to have found them, definitely recommend!
Fantastic experience: They’re the best! So kind and gentle working with my son. Would highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: Commonwealth Pediatric Dental is truly amazing! They were able to squeeze my daughter in on short notice, and from the moment we walked in, the entire team made us feel so welcome. My daughter was nervous at first, but they completely eased her fears and made the experience fun and stress-free. A special shoutout to Julie — she was absolutely awesome and simply the best! So kind, patient, and great with kids. We couldn’t have asked for a better visit. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: Everyone from the office staff, hygienists and dentist are wonderful! Bring all 4 of my young children in for visits and we are in and out within 20 minutes. My kids love the dentist because every time it’s a great experience
Fantastic experience: My kids love going to the dentist. Especially my 3 year old. Jules was exceptional with her. She says "I want to see the tooth doctor " Dr. Murphy and his staff are great. My kids age range is from 16, 10 and 3. .
Fantastic experience: I highly recommend this pediatric dentist! From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The dentist is outstanding—so kind, patient, and professional. My son feels completely at ease during every visit, which makes all the difference. The appointments are always quick and efficient, and the dentist goes above and beyond to make sure my son is comfortable and confident. It’s clear that they truly care about their young patients. If you're looking for a wonderful dentist for your child, this is definitely the place to go

Fantastic experience: Dr. Murphy is, hands-down, the best pediatric dentist we have ever experienced. We’ve been going to him for the last five years I believe. I wish he took adult patients as well, because he is just seriously an awesome human being On top of being a top-notch dentist. His team is just as outstanding in their customer service. Couldn’t recommend them enough! We drive all the way from Mansfield to Raynham just to go see them.
Fantastic experience: I love how the dentist always explains everything so we know what needs to be done.
Fantastic experience: Such an amazing and welcoming group! Always an amazing visit for my kids when we go! My oldest son has Autism and they are just always so patient and kind to him and make him feel comfortable. My younger son struggles with the dentist but they are again so understanding and helpful and just make it a better experience for him and my daughter shes does so great as well! Fully recommend them! ❤️
Fantastic experience: Great place for kids! The entire staff is so gentle and friendly! Wouldn’t go anywhere else.
Fantastic experience: The care and patience of this staff with little ones is amazing! My son is 3 and hates appts, usually they end with kicking, screaming, and lots of tears. Today was such a great change of pace. Julia took the time to make him feel comfortable during the initial part, and I think I'm still in shock by how well it went. Now he won't stop talking about brushing his teeth and walked out of the office with a smile! Can't recommend them enough 11/10!!!
Positive experience: Dr. Murphy and his team are always patient and take the time to listen to our questions and concerns. The staff are also very patient with the children and are understanding that this can be a little frightening. Highly recommend this pediatric dental office!
Fantastic experience: My daughter was very nervous and the staff and dr were great and my daughter made it thru first procedure and not scared of the others.

Fantastic experience: They are all so great with my kids we love them!
Fantastic experience: Dr Murphy and his staff are great!
Fantastic experience: My son is absolutely terrified of the dentist. It was pretty much a nightmare getting him in the door today. But once we are there, Miss Julie always takes such great care of him! She is patient and kind to him, and creates a plan around my son’s needs, understanding that he is genuinely afraid of medical providers. He recently had a procedure under anesthesia and was more afraid than usual today. Julie guessed that was the cause and adapted. It was so helpful! Everyone there is always so accommodating. Can’t recommend them highly enough!
Fantastic experience: A great dentist office. My kids actually enjoy going to the dentist. The whole team there is awesome. I couldn't possibly recommend them anymore.
Fantastic experience: Commonwealth Pediatric Dental is a wonderful practice. The front desk staff are efficient and welcoming. The hygienist that took care of our two year old was kind, patient, silly and thorough. My son was comfortable and happy through his cleaning. Recently, we brought our two month in for oral tie revisions and Dr. Murphy was exceptional. He explained everything and took his time talking with us before the procedure. It took about 30 seconds and we were out the door. We love Commonwealth!
Fantastic experience: I have been taking my kids to Dr. Murphy for 10 years and wouldn’t trust anyone else with their dental care. His staff is amazing and the office is always clean. Highly recommend taking your children here!
Negative experience: I wish I could give this place zero stars. I often find myself on this page wanting to explain myself further but it just hurts to bad to explain and I get upset. I have always had beautiful teeth some cavities yes but nothing crazy. After every appointment I was told by the dentist my teeth looked great and I was doing a good job. My last time entering this office the usual dentist I see wasn’t there and another women was there to tell me there were many “areas of concern” which terrified me because my teeth were always fine and said do by the dentist. Now that I’ve went to a new dentist I’ve had to replace this awful persons terrible work and it’s ruined my life. I have had to get countless cavities refilled and a few of them I can’t save because the other opinions I received stated the cavities were filled too deep and improperly. So be VERY careful sending your children here the long term damage that has been done to my mouth is irreversible and I just think how much I hate this place for what they have done to me. Awful work.it’s been YEARS and I’m having more and more problems down the line. Worst mistake I ever made in my life was going to this office.
Fantastic experience: Doc Murphy and the staff here are a pleasure to visit and work with. We visit 3x a year and highly recommend all the time.

My girls have been seeing him since they've had teeth and he is gentle, calm, funny, and just a really amazing dentist. We are so lucky to have him!
Fantastic experience: Couldn’t image going to any other office, the staff treat the children so well and explain every step at an appropriate level. Patient, kind, gentle, great demeanors! Best there is!
Fantastic experience: This is an amazing dental practice for kids! It’s such a friendly place and very professional and clean! Commonwealth has made it a great place for kids my son has gone all his life and he is 14 now!
Fantastic experience: Dr. Murphy was incredible! His skills and expertise were top-notch, and his interpersonal skills made us feel at ease. He performed a procedure on our four month old baby in the outcome was excellent. I don’t think we could have had better care!

We have never had a bad experience. Dr Murphy and his team are the best! We had our first teeth extraction yesterday due to crowding. They explained everything and made my daughter feel very calm. It was over in less than 30 minutes!
Fantastic experience: My daughter had a painful abscess in her mouth. I called at 8am and was able to be seen in only a couple hours, didn’t have to wait, and they were very gentle with my scared little girl.
Negative experience: I feel it should of been convaid prevously to me that there was not going to be a dentist at my daughters dentist appointment.
