Fantastic experience: The entire staff at this practice are wonderful! Going to the dentist has never been one of my favorite places to go to, however, it has become a pleasant experience. From the minute you walk through the door you’re greeted with respect and kindness by Diane and Fancy Nancy; they are terrific and make you feel so comfortable. These two set the tone for the visit and the tech staff, hygienist and Dentist follow their lead. The dental staff found issues that my previous dentist never alerted me to. It’s hard to find a place where all of the employees are happy to be there, and genuinely happy to help you.

Fantastic experience: 60 years of going to a dentist and this is the first time it was pain free. I didn't even feel a needle when getting a filling! If you are looking for pain free dentistry this is the place to go!!!!

Negative experience: Be cautious before choosing this dental office. I recently received a bill for a deep cleaning that happened over a year ago ($800). It seems they failed to properly follow up with my insurance and are now trying to hold me responsible for the balance. By the time they realized the issue, the deadline to correct it had likely passed, so now they’re shifting the burden onto me. This isn’t the first time I’ve had a bad experience here. The hygienist was extremely rough during cleanings, and the charges were excessive. Receiving a surprise bill over a a year later was just the final straw and why I decided to post a review. I’m glad I returned to my previous dental office. They’re professional, efficient, and I’ve never had a single issue with billing or care. Also, be prepared for same-day cancellations, this happened to me more than once. They expect you to pay a fee if you cancel last minute, but when they cancel on you with no warning, there’s no compensation for your time or lost income.

They are patient, empathetic, compassionate, caring and gentle. I have been with them for several years now and they don’t disappoint. I understand that sometimes you have not a good procedures, but you should weigh the good n the bad like my mom taught me growing up. As for my experience n my mom in law.. Negative experience: Terrible service, bad attention and they put people who are not yet qualified to try a root canal treatment and when they cannot do it they excuse themselves by saying that it was very difficult and that the specialist should do it but he only goes to the clinic one day.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Akel is the most competent and skillful dentist I've ever had. He is also a caring and nice person which helps when you are experiencing pain! He even has a good sense of humor which can make you feel more calm and at ease if you are feeling wary about a procedure. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Akel and his team of hygienists and other technicians. Everyone is very pleasant and professional including Mel at the reception desk and Brenda in billing! The staff is bilingual and the fees are reasonable. Why wouldn't you go there? I am patient at the Lake Worth office at the corner of Lake Worth Ave. and Military Trail.

Negative experience: Very bad experience, the first thing I asked was about my Aetnea insurance. They confirmed that they accepted my aetnea ppo. I paid for the x-rays and made my appointment to start my requirement. Out of intuition, he decides to call Aetnea to confirm that they accept the insurance. To my surprise, they are not on the Aetnea networks, so if I don't call, they do the procedure for which I have to pay first and then the insurance will reimburse you. Imagine what a surprise I was going to get when I claimed my insurance. I went right away to cancel my appointment because they charge a lot if you don't cancel within 48 hours. When I asked for a copy of my x-rays I had to pay. It seems like theft to me not to be honest. Be careful not to trust what they tell you, first call your insurance. Paque for the x-rays and more for the copies

Previous post: I went to Big Smile Dentistry in Lake Worth today for a consultation about a specific tooth. Dr Akel was very kind and explained all my options to me very well. Teresa (and I hope I’m spelling her name correctly!) was great doing the X-rays too. In fact, everyone was very friendly and so I made another appointment to have Dr Akel work on my tooth!

Negative experience: Over the past 3 years I’ve had a lot of work done here. Last summer a crown I had done here broke after only 2 years. They only guarantee their work for 1 year so I was forced to pay full price for a replacement because my insurance will only cover one crown on the same tooth per 5 years. Tonight a crown I’ve only had for 3 years just cracked in half. I’ll be finding a new office to replace it this time.

Fantastic experience: As a sufferer of odontophobia, it is debilitating to even make an appointment with a dentist, let alone get inside a dentist office, but with the help of years of therapy and Dr Akel's staff, I actually made it through x-rays and evaluation without an anxiety breakdown. The office is calm and relaxed, the staff is kind and understanding, and Dr. Akel's soft spoken and gentle. Because of my diagnosis, my teeth over the years have been neglected, resulting in critical damage and deterioration of my oral health. I have an extensive treatment plan ahead, causing me relentless anxiety, but with the help of my therapist, along with Dr. Akel and his caring and patient staff, maybe I can soon enjoy a pain-free mouth and proudly show off my new smile. It won't be a trip to Disney World, but maybe it won't be a trip to an anxiety nightmare. I'll keep you posted on the progress. Maybe Big Smile can help someone else with this profound disability.

Fantastic experience: This dental practice is the best in Florida. Not only did they do quality work and take great care of me, but they are so friendly and professional. The best part is that many of the dentists in South Florida try to get as much money out of you as possible that is not necessary. Big Smile is very honest and actually got on with the insurance company and found out that I had way more covered than the computer program said. With that, I had a significant decrease in my out of pocket expense that would not have happened anywhere else. They went above and beyond the call of duty. Also, I was going to be traveling so they accommodated my schedule and got everything done on time which no other place would have. Dr. Akel is an amazing dentist who does great, professional work, but also was honest enough to not do work that others recommended because he knew it was not needed. I recommend only one place in South Florida for dental work and that's Big Smile Dentistry

Fantastic experience: Incredible experience on 3 fillings. Lots of new things I haven't experienced in my other times going there. This is a place that is constantly striving for perfection. My motto has always been "Everyday is another day to improve", and they are already very good at what they do, so keep that in mind. The dentists here are constantly striving for perfection and improving their already immaculate skill level, which was very nice to see. The amount of confidence shown during surgery is unbelievable. So calm, so patient. So caring. And still will always talk to you during surgery and tell you how great of a job you are doing as a patient, and how much time is left to go, and the worst parts over. All with minimal pain like 2 times at best. Big Smile is like family. They watch over me. They let me know to come there if I ever need someone to talk to, about life, anything. Big Smile is a true family, and I'm very glad they have accepted me as someone who they really love. I look forward to finishing my dental work there in a few weeks. Negative experience: Bad service. I was sitting there for more then 50 minutes, they even don’t clean my teeth properly. They gave my schedule time to someone else and put me for waiting that long. Fantastic experience: I have been going here for years the treatment I get is a+.I travels ed l 3 hours to go to them that in itself should say it all.

Negative experience: My temporary cap came off 2x in one week, plus for the second time, an appointment was made for me and a card was given, yet there is no record on the computer. When I called to confirm my appointment on Tuesday, I apparently had my days mixed up and it was definitely on the next day. However, when I insisted that I had an appointment and a confirmation card for an appointment on the next Tuesday I was on hold for almost 4 minutes while she took care of the customer at the window. When I hung up and recalled she called me by name and said they "would be right with me". Almost 5 minutes later and I still was on hold. It is now 19 minutes later and no call back from the office.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Akel installed crowns in a row of four teeth in the lower left. I previously had implants done in the lower right and upper left, where a lone remaining tooth was interfering somewhat with the bite. Dr. Akel immediately diagnosed the problem, and made adjustments that corrected the issue. He also was able to reattach the porcelain covering of an upper middle tooth, at least temporarily, until such time that I can have an implant there. All of the procedures were virtually painless; I barely felt the needle on one Novocaine injection, and felt nothing on the other. He is highly skilled and knowledgeable. Another dentist wanted to charge an amount beyond what the insurance paid for the crown work, but this office did not charge extra. And the office staff and dental assistants at the Lake Worth clinic of Big Smile Dentistry were all superb.

Negative experience: I call the office to reschedule an appointment, Brenda the office manager was very disrespectful to me by not listening to me and hang up the phone on me while talking to her. I really don't know how a person like that could be in an establishment that deals with customer. She needs to be somewhere different from a dentist office where the competition are less because I am moving my business to somewhere else that won't disrespect me as a customer

Fantastic experience: I saw Dr. Akel for a tooth extraction and bone graft. He was very pleasant, humorous, and professional. The proceedure was pain-free and performed successfully. I felt confident that I was in good hands. Just had a follow-up, and all has healed perfectly.

I love how she took her time to look over my medical history (that's not something I see a lot of doctors do). & she did a great job of answering my questions and explaining them in a way that easily understandable.
