Fantastic experience: Our family love Bloomington Pediatric Dentistry, the staff are all so friendly, the painted walls are so adorable and they do an amazing job making my kiddos feel comfortable during their visits!

Negative experience: I transferred my children there because it seemed like they were not over-treating patients. However, after more than a year of experience with them, I have unfortunately lost my trust in their practice. Just three days after my children had an hour-long checkup there, we took them to another dentist, who confirmed that they had cavities and treated them. This made me question the thoroughness and accuracy of their examinations. I also find it concerning that parents are not allowed in the treatment area, so I have no way of knowing what is actually being done during the appointments. It was fine until I found cavities that were told nothing there. (they took X-ray on that day!)Most of all, they switched the dentist that I haven't met AND not PPO then made me not be covered by insurance for the preventive care. Very not responsible action. Overall, I am very disappointed with both the quality of care and the way they handle billing. After more than a year, I no longer feel comfortable trusting this practice with my children’s dental care.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend this place. Honestly I have nothing but good things about this place. From the time we got in and when we left. Staff was very friendly. Doctors and the hygienist was amazing. They know my son is on the spectrum and they were definitely dental and understanding with my son. They handle him with care. He’s been going back there on his own with no issues. They have give me some feedback on how to help my son with extra brushing. Other than that they’re overly amazing.

Negative experience: If I could give zero stars, I would. I do not recommend this dentistry office. Poor communication from front office staff and refuse to take any accountability. If I can’t trust their front office staff, I definitely don’t trust them to take my toddlers to the back without an adult.

Fantastic experience: My 5 yr old is scared of going to Dr/Dentist but she loves going here. My 4 yr loves everyone there, as well. The staff are so fun and friendly. They definitely put the kiddos at ease. I would definitely recommend them to everyone!! My 10 yr old granddaughter was counting down the days for her appointment. She was so excited to go to the dentist. Everyone here makes the kiddos and parents at ease. Every procedure is explained in detail. I cannot brag enough about them!!!

Negative experience: They don’t allow parents in the room after a certain age. Before we left the practice for said reason, we would wait sometimes an hour in the room to be seen.

Negative experience: Watch this dentistry dropping your insurance mid-year and claiming they sent notifications about it when no notifications were ever sent, then charging you for out of network charges.

Fantastic experience: BPD is elite! The staff are incredible. Dr. Taylor and Dr. Shone are not only exceptional dentists but exceptional humans as well. The whole vibe inside is fantastic.

Negative experience: The dental assistant was so rude to me and my child at initial intake tell him he doesn’t his mommy when he asked for me to come back with him. They DO NOT ALLOW PARENTS IN THE BACK!!! My son told me after the procedure was over he was told he had to wipe away his tears before he could see his Mommy! This is absolutely ridiculous! This is a pediatric specialist! You would think they would want the parents to be able to comfort their child. He told me he felt everything (wasn’t numbed) and talked about how he could feel everything and it was so painful. The dentist himself was kind and patient but the dental hygienist should NOT be working with children. We will not be returning. And I would not recommend.

Fantastic experience: Bloomington Pediatric Dentistry does so good with my young children. They make it a safe, friendly, and comfortable environment. My girls love it and get excited about going to the dentist.

Negative experience: Apparently, they aren't accepting MHS or Cigna anymore

Fantastic experience: Dr. Taylor has taken care of my daughter since she was 1 year old. He is always kind, informative and spends time with the patient and parents. We love BP dentistry!

Fantastic experience: The building is beautiful with detailed paintings on every wall. Everything was clean and well organized, with cute ghosts hanging from the celling above each dental chair. The staff were so friendly! They gave my child 2 goodie bags (one extra for Halloween) plus a toy! The dentist has a great sense of humor! They were all very fun, engaging, up beat, and interactive. The dentist explained things very well and in detail. He took his time and was very thorough. He was thoughtful and took mindful considerations for my disabled child. I can tell that he has a passion for what he does. Riley's children's hospital will only see patients until the age of 18. However, this dentist provides care for special needs, even throughout adulthood. I think it's a beautiful calling and purpose! Best dentist ever!

Negative experience: This is an outdated practice. Parents are not allowed to accompany children (as young as 3 years of age) back to the room for the cleaning and examination. No parent should trust a medical establishment that prohibits them from being present during a procedure of any kind or an examination. This is not normal nor standard dental practice.

Fantastic experience: My 12 year old daughter has selective mutism and also has horrible social anxiety, but Dr. Shone and the staff are absolutely amazing and we love them all. They make her feel comfortable every visit and it's the one appointment that she does not mind going to.

Negative experience: I'd give this place zero if possible They should be shut down and idk how they have such high reviews. We were referred here by our regular dentist because my youngest kiddo was having dental anxiety. This place made it 1000× worse. They won't allow parents back which was a big red flag for me but I tried to relax as everyone else seemed okay with it. My son came out after getting fillings and instantly started bawling. The hygienist said " oh youre fine! you didn't cry a bit back there, knock it off!" So I was already concerned and upset. Because clearly something happend and she was being very rude to him about it. He said they told him that he "wasn't allowed to cry" and if whenever he started to get tears in his eyes they said "you need to stop youre just scaring the other kids, no one else cries" and when he told them it hurt multiple times they told him "no you cant feel anything just stop being dramatic" He wasn't fully numbed and cried in pain for over an hour after we left the dentist and it only stopped because I gave him Tylenol. They shouldn't be allowed around children and I immediately canceled all following appointments and won't return. So much for helping with anxiety.

Fantastic experience: I have been very anxious about my 2 year olds teeth and the shape they are in. It seemed impossible to get him into a dentist who would take new Medicaid patients. They got him in with a referral the same week! I felt embarrassed as a mom that I let them get to that point (breast feeding at night) but I felt so at ease at his appointment. The nurse and doctor were very detailed with everything and there to help. I am happy to now have a game plan for him and to get his healthy teeth back! I have been to places before with my other children that always, in a way, made me feel shamed as a mother; however, I didn’t not feel this at all today. I felt heard and relieved. I’m so happy to have found this wonderful place! Thank you

Fantastic experience: We have always had a good experience with our toddler visiting this office for the last two years. They are always as gentle as they can be, very caring, and explain what they’re doing throughout the appointment. What I can appreciate the most is that today when my child fell and had an injury to his mouth, they got him in immediately and were just so caring toward me, the emotional mom, and my child. They took the time to explain what they were doing, why they were doing it, and long-term implications of the injury. I am so grateful for the care that we have received from this office and its staff.

Fantastic experience: This was our 19 month olds first dentist trip and they were amazing with her. Every staff person was extremely friendly, informative, patient and kind. The dentist was amazing, explaining everything in detail and she was only upset for a few seconds because he was so quick and efficient. I wish adult dentist offices were like this and I’m so glad we can keep taking her here until she is a teenager!

Fantastic experience: At CPR BTown, we had the privilege of training the staff at Bloomington Pediatric Dentistry in CPR and First Aid. Their team was engaged, eager to learn, and committed to making sure they’re prepared to act in an emergency. It’s clear that they take the safety of their patients seriously and go above and beyond to provide excellent care.

Fantastic experience: I always feel so comfortable letting my sons be taken back by one of the dental assistants. They are always so good with them and one of my sons is terrified of the dentist. He hasn’t had any concerns since he started coming here. They are always so kind to him!

Fantastic experience: Shout out to Dr. Taylor to go above and beyond for my daughter with Special needs. She was scared to go into the office for appt appointment. He came out to parking lot and told me to pull behind building . He came to my car and did evaluation in car . She was happy and cooperative with this .

Fantastic experience: Amazing dentist's , I have used this dentist's office with all 3 kids of mine. Kind and friendly, very patient and make the kids and parents feel comfortable.

Negative experience: 5 years ago my son had a cavity filled here. He was 2.5 and they refused to let me go back into the room with him. Since then we have moved and new dentists are shocked that this happened to us. It still gives me a really sick feeling thinking about it. They insisted it was the right thing but looking back it still feels very wrong to this day. I hope they have changed their practice. If you feel uncomfortable with this I encourage you to take your kids elsewhere… my son is just now getting over the terrible anxiety with dentists that started after this experience.

Fantastic experience: We had a great experience here! Staff was great with my toddler and everything was kid friendly…as a pediatric dentist should be! When I left a voicemail, they called back promptly. We’ll be going here for awhile! :)

Fantastic experience: My husband brought my son to here and had nothing but amazing things to say. We are new to the area and traveled to come here because they could get my son right in. He (the dentist) explained everything very thoroughly and made sure my husband understood what he was talking about. He Made my son very comfortable and did so well. Highly highly recommend. We will continue to make the drive to them because they’re worth it.

Negative experience: I'm bummed to leave a 1 star review, as the nurses and dentists are all fantastic with kids. They have a policy that the parent can't go back with their child for cleanings. This is incredibly inappropriate for preschool age children and they do not allow exceptions. My son is 3 and still unable to communicate well in new and uncertain situations and absolutely couldn't advocate for himself if needed. I'm shocked that everyone there acted like it was perfectly acceptable. I was not informed of this policy until we were in the waiting room heading back for the appointment. I have moved to a different dentist, and will not return.

Fantastic experience: Our first visit was great. The front office staff was smiling and friendly. Everyone was warm, welcoming and kind. They all smiled and made my daughter feel very comfortable. She laughed and talked to all the staff. I was very impressed.

Negative experience: I didn't like the way they keep the kids separate from parents. Especially since I asked them 3 times not to give my son fluoride and they still gave him fluoride. The dentist apologized, but it could have been bad if there was an allergy or something and I still didn't appreciate the way things are organized at that office. I sat in the front waiting room and listened to every patient's dental issues and more. There is no privacy.

Fantastic experience: We love Bloomington Pediatric Dentistry. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming to our kiddos. The office is kid friendly and my kids honestly can't wait to go to the dentist. They love going which makes the experience so much easier on everyone. The dentists have always listened to any questions or concerns and do not make us feel rushed. Definitely recommend!

Negative experience: They won't allow you to go back with your children. I know moms who said their children came back with scratches on their face from struggle during the procedure and that their children said they were held down and yelled at during the procedure. I've also heard from moms who said they got second opinions about tooth removals and their children didn't end up needing the teeth removed even though this place said they did. I would recommend against this place.

Fantastic experience: My son was treated amazingly they gave him a home made teddy bear before his surgery made him as comfortable as you can get for those types of things. But 10 out of 10 for the care before during and after, the doctor even Checked in later that night on my son.

Fantastic experience: Dr Taylor was FANTASTIC! I am very happy with him. We took our daughter to see Dr Taylor for a second opinion about her lip and tongue tie. The other dentist we took our daughter to was with her for around 30 seconds. He was in there a LONG TIME. He talked to her so she could get used to her. The chart asked if she had any siblings and ask about if she is a little sister or a big sister and asked what her brother was doing today. He had her face me with her legs around me and her head go in his lap so he could actually look in her mouth for probably five minutes or more looking all around her mouth and back. I’m extremely happy with him and his staff. You can tell they have the kids best interest at heart and not just trying to get more kids in and out for the payment. The office is SUPER cute! There is even a scavenger hunt on the walls! When we went in the back, we were in a nice room with purple walls and a circus theme! My daughter had a really good time until the exam started. But she’s not even two yet, that’s expected. She loved the Bluey tooth brush, the stickers and the bouncy ball!

The staff always makes them feel invited like they belong. I feel completely confident bringing my kids here. They get their teeth cleaned well and if additional services is needed or the doctor foresees a potential issue in the future with their teeth, they always inform me ahead of time. The staff listens to what I have to say and responds in a professional manner of what their recommendations are which is greatly appreciated. Thank you for always having great service and making my children feel safe! I've been bringing my kids here for years.

Fantastic experience: Daughters first experience going back to the dentist alone and she loved it! Great with children

Negative experience: The older hygienist that seen my child didn't have the most friendly personality and was very off putting. She also made my husband feel like dirt because my child's face was dirty, don't get me wrong he should have been a little more prepared but were busy working parents and it happens. It's not her place to say anything about my child ans his appearance.

Fantastic experience: We were desperate for a Pediatric dentist that accepts medicade and provides sedation for dental work for my autistic daughter Evelyn. Everything about Bloomington Pediatric Dental exceeded my expectations. Everyone at the office is so kind. Huge shout out to Natalie for being such a rock star. We are so grateful for everyone at the office! We had a great experience for Evelyn's sedation dentistry. She had some teeth extracted and some silver caps placed on her molars. Her entire team took such great care of her.

Negative experience: Ridiculous that this is one of two pediatric dentists in Bloomington and some of the surrounding area and they do not take Hoosier health wise. I am in school and work while I’m in school. We have Medicaid so I am able to finish school and become a nurse without losing everything to pay for private insurance. What Bloomington needs is a pediatric dentist who cares about our kids.

They were AMAZING in supporting my kiddo through his anxiety of just being there. They explained everything that they were going to do and showed him all the tools that would be used. He got through the visit with flying colors. I highly recommend this place.
