Negative experience: Come here if you want Dr. Shirley to ruin your teeth doing simple cavity fillings by drilling way too deep then expecting $1000s to fix the problem that didn't exist before you went. Coming here is seriously one of the biggest mistakes I've made in my life. How he is able to sleep at night is beyond me. This man literally falsified my records to avoid accountability in an error he made. Pictures can be provided. My new dentist was appalled at the blatant malpractice reflected in the photos I showed him. Dr. Shirley didn't even use dental dams during an operation and acts shocked when he screws up. Complete fraud! I literally wake up every day because of the pain ONLY IN THE TEETH HE FILLED. PATHETIC. These liars in the reviews saying they will go out of their way to make things right. Yea right, read the 1 star reviews. They won't even fix fillings that fall out right after they do them. They never offered to make anything right. They just hide behind their malpractice insurance. Take note of when I wrote this review (Middle of May 2026) and the stream of 5 star reviews directly afterwards mentioning Dr. Shirley specifically. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if this was done on purpose to hide my post exposing their fraudulent behaviors. Take note of the other negative reviews. Always 3-5 five star reviews directly after a 1 star to hide it from their Google listing. Well too bad for them, the pain I go to bed and wake up with on a daily basis as a result of his lack of precision will serve as a constant reminder that my experience isn't hidden away by 1 post account's reviews. Run that 10 paragraph love letter to Dr. Shirley through AI. It will tell you it's AI assisted at the very minimum. More than suspicious. See how he ruined a pregnant woman's teeth and they ignore her reviews? But they sure responded to every single person that left 5 stars. Just not the pregnant woman that trusted them with her and her baby's health. Her fillings fell out less than 6 months after being done and they billed her to fix them. Sounds familiar. How is this place allowed to still be open? I have fillings from other dentists that are 20 years old and are still in better shape than literally every single tooth Dr. Shirley filled ( that I still have). On what planet does someone need to pull a tooth that only had a simple cavity directly after it being filled? It's at the point where I legitimately wouldn't be surprised if he botches teeth on purpose to make more money. I seen one person complain about them wasting his time and refusing to extract his tooth and ended up telling him they don't extract. Pretty strange considering I've had a tooth extracted here. Maybe they botched his tooth too and refuse to pull it until they have plausible deniability. Nothing would surprise me at this place. They know they are one of the only places in the area that can get HIP+ patients in quickly so it's just an assembly line to bill insurance as much as possible and get to the next patient. If they screw your teeth up, they will say any and everything. They will adjust your bite-wing a half dozen times. They will claim you grind your teeth at night. They will claim your neck muscles are too developed. Literally anything they can come up with to get you out the door. I can only hope that my experience was isolated and this isn't the type of service single mothers and senior citizens on HIP and Medicaid receive, but based on the review of the pregnant woman having her teeth botched and then told she needs to pay for them to fix, yeah.. doesn't seem to be the case. They don't care about the quality of work they do at all. They will never make anything right. They will literally break the law and falsify your records before doing that.

He took the time to explain everything clearly and never made me feel judged or pressured. Fantastic experience: My daughter had a dental emergency and I couldn’t get her in to our dentist for a few days. I called the first thing when they opened and they were able to see her the same day. The dentist and hygienist both made sure to take their time and talk my daughter through what happened and reassured her that everything was going to be ok.

Fantastic experience: I've found my bite really uncomfortable for years, which would have taken $6000 worth of braces to fix, but Dr. Kloboves ground a tiny bit of tooth off (the width of an eyelash he said) and fixed it instantly. So pleased with the experience!

Negative experience: AVOID! The front desk receptionist acted like a constipated witch. She was incredibly rude and condescending from the moment I walked in and acted like every question I asked was an inconvenience. Her tone was dismissive, impatient, and completely uncalled for. I asked to speak to the dentist, who was supposed to come out and talk to me, but did not have the courage or want to spend the time to talk to one of his patients. Avoid this place!

Negative experience: Ok I have had dental problems pretty much my whole life, partly because I had to go to different dental offices when I was growing up because of divorced parents. So I would have my teeth fixed just to later have the next dentist screw up what the previous dentist had done to fix my teeth. Now I have to wear a full upper denture and I need a partial lower denture still. I had heard good things about this dental office but my upper denture has never fit. I have always had to use adhesive to keep them from slipping and the teeth are way too small, so small that they are causing my jaw to crack and pop alot more than it has ever done before and causing me to have lock jaw. When I eat I constantly end up biting my tongue or the inside of my lip and I bleed forever. When I had said something to them about the things I felt was wrong with the denture and what it was doing to me they told me they were fine. I also have receding gums on the bottom front and my teeth are very exposed. When I had them cleaned they had to give me shots to numb the pain from cleaning. When the dentist came in to look at how bad it was he said just have her come back in 6 months f or a cleaning. What the hellI know they can fix the gums by grafting a peice of healthy gum onto it. But nope they just let it get worse and now everything is alot worse. I would not recommend this dental office to my worst enemy.

Dr. K is awesome and Layne is a FANTASTIC hygienist. Kindness and professionalism through and through. My wife and I always leave happy!

Cleaning went quickly but I felt it was complete. Dr. Shirley is super nice and makes you feel very comfortable.

Fantastic experience: I had an emergency, bad tooth. They got me right in before my insurance changed. It required a crown, My old dentist has never fit my crowns as well as they have. They had it seated correctly on first try. The girls all do a wonderful job also. So glad I found and changed to Dr K.

Negative experience: I have had THREE FILLINGS JUST FALL OUT all approximately 4-8 months after being done. Granted they did redo one filling for free but the others they did not cover. They need to address this issue whatever it is. Besides that the staff is nice and professional but results matter most to me.

Fantastic experience: I went for A consultation at Bloomington family dentist recommended by my IU doctor and I have to say it was so pleasant and a beautiful atmosphere At this dental office. I was quite embarrassed about my dental situation but no one made me shameful or judged which I have encountered with dental offices before. Dr Shirley and his team were very knowledgeable and caring about my dental health. God bless this dental office and everyone working there.

Negative experience: Called to get a tooth pulled from here. I got an appointment and expected to get the tooth pulled that day. They never said on the phone that they don’t pull teeth here or this appointment was just to get a referral to an oral surgeon to get it pulled on a much later date. Very sneaky practices. Won’t be going back here.

Negative experience: Bloomington family dental just told me they will not ever take me as a patient because (a) I missed the first appointment I scheduled (my fault, granted), and (b) I called yesterday to make a new appointment, they scheduled me for an appointment today, and then I called just now to cancel and reschedule because woke up today coughing, sneezing, and feverish. Mind you, when I called yesterday they did not mention anything about my missing the first appointment or any office policy about missed appointments. But today I was told, “well it is office policy, actually after the first missed appointment we typically won’t schedule patients again but I went ahead and made the appointment yesterday for you.” When I asked, “so I should’ve just come in today and risked infecting everyone?” She of course said “no, I’m not saying that, but it is our policy that now we won’t be able to schedule you for a new appointment.” So, having awoken sick today, I am apparently just screwed. I’d be extremely wary of going to a medical practice with policies that encourage patients to come in even when they are sick and infectious, for fear of being banned from being seen in the future. If you have children, are elderly, or otherwise have a diminished immune system or are in contact with anyone that does, I would avoid this place at all costs. I understand that businesses need some kind of policy for the sake of themselves and their patients. This, however, is ridiculously over-strict and, as I said above, not in the best interest of their patients’ health. I’m glad they showed this side of themselves before I established care there.

Fantastic experience: Went to get a cleaning and have chipped tooth looked at. After the basics, the Dr came in told me I needed have the tooth extracted because it was starting to effect the 2 teeth around it. I had the same removed on the opposite side about 15 years ago by a different DDS. Hands down one my top 3 most physically painful moments, even with the novacaine. But this time, there was no pain during or after the removal. It was the most fantastic experience and I look forward to my appointments now. 11 out of 10!

Fantastic experience: My twin girls, 6 years old went there for the first time (after having only been to a dedicated pediatric dentist) so we were all a little nervous that the same attention wouldn’t be had. Boy were we nervous for no reason! The staff were fantastic! They took great care of my kiddos, assuring they were comfortable, understood what was being done, and then of course spoiled them with prizes out of the treasure chest! Can’t wait to have my own appointment there as a new patient!

Negative experience: They lied to me. I told them my 8-year-old daughter has a cavity and they told me you can come we can deal with kids from the age of 3. When I reached there after the evaluation, the doctor said no, it is a cavity, and you should see a pediatric doctor. I told him I knew and I told you that but the receptionist said it is what it is!!! They charged me for the procedures I didn't need and lied about them being able to deal with 8 years old kid. I don't recommend dealing with liars!!!

Positive experience: They was all very nice and friendly but I felt like was just a number not a pt, everything was rushed and not really personal and I feel 150 for a little gas to calm me down is ridiculous so when I do go back for the actual procedure I’m going to be a wreak as I’ve had a bad experience with a dentist at another facility.

Negative experience: The front desk staff had no idea what they were doing when I came in for the first appointment. I contacted them 3 times ahead of the appointment and was told I was fine without a member ID until later in the day, since it was my first day with my new insurance and had a 7:30a appointment. I played phone tag with them, since they didn’t ever answer when I called them. I received a voicemail a couple days before the appointment stating they need “information.” I called back and, of course, did not get an answer. I was then called less than 30 minutes before the appointment stating that they could not see me without an ID number from my insurance. I went and gave my information, specifically my insurance, and they said they couldn’t do it without a member ID. I called two other dentists to see if I can get in. They both confirmed that Delta Dental is confirmed by social security number, and the member ID section is blank on the cards. They 100% could have confirmed my insurance if they had any idea what they were doing. Luckily, there are plenty of other dentists in Bloomington who have competent front desk staff and can get you in within a day or two.

Both, her and Dr. Kloboves, answer any questions/concerns I may have. They get you in and out in a very timely manner. I had to bring my toddlers with me at my last appointment and they were very accepting and kind with them being there. Overall, the best dental practice I’ve been to!

Fantastic experience: I was made comfortable throughout each appointment for some very modern dentistry. The equipment is obviously updated, and the dentists and staff were friendly and well trained.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love this Dentist office, they are never rude and I always go back @ the time they say & sometimes early. They are very good with my teen as well always helpful.

Fantastic experience: Every time I come here, I always feel so welcomed by the staff, and it truly makes me feel more comfortable going. Today especially, I went in for a cleaning and my dental hygienist was Heidi (I’m not sure of her last name) and she was just so kind, funny, and understanding, and she made sure I was comfortable. Im on the autism spectrum and have ADHD, so I have some sensory problems when it comes to my teeth, and she made sure to make it as smooth of a process as possible! She really treated me like a friend, more than a patient. I don’t usually write reviews, but the way she helped me today was so outstanding that I just had to write a review.

Fantastic experience: Very professional, updated, knowledgable facility. I have been going through chemotherapy for 2 years and it was important to find a professional and knowledgable doc and Dr. Kloboves is wonderful. I have never had dental work done and not felt a thing. It was once in my life I didn’t lay in a chair in agonizing pain for an hour. Everyone was nice. I don't typically write reviews unless the experience was either really good or really bad and this was wonderful. I am excited to start my dental journey through them.
