Peters Creek Dentistry

Negative experience: Called to schedule a FREE Invisalign consult. They billed my insurance $117. I spoke to the dentist under 3 minutes, they performed no X-rays, didn’t bother to scan my teeth with the Invisalign machine, and staff seemed out of sorts and confused. I asked many times for a treatment quote and they never printed me anything. All that to charge me for a free consult? Safe to say I won’t get Invisalign here.

Negative experience: If I could give 0 stars, I would. This place used to be great. Unfortunately, they were bought out by another company (real life dental). They've 'lost' appointments, cancelled appointments without notification, and then a third time cancelled my appointment the day of with a text message. I understand people get sick and things happen, but this is getting ridiculous. The lady at the front desk is always rude. There is always 'something wrong with the computer system'. If I didn't keep accurate records and request the front desk lady to sign papers, they would be charging me extra. We will definitely be leaving this place.

Negative experience: Called and cancelled appointment and now they want me to pay $50 for not showing up. If they actually answered the phone there wouldn't be any confusion! or listened to their voicemail box for once they wouldn't be losing so many patients. I'm clearly never coming back, had the worst experience on my teeth cleaning anyways. Had my gums bleeding from how rough they were. Ridiculous how good/ fast they are at charging people money but not doing their job right. Driving patients to look elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Great atmosphere, staff kind & helpful

Negative experience: The main dentists at this practice retired and didn't have the courtesy to inform their patients. The name and staff has changed. It's now Real Life Dentistry. I am looking for a new dentist. I have been kept waiting while the new dentist chatted in the hall (25+ minutes). I had cavities filled, the dentist was finished, and I had to tell her that the fillings were rough and needed further work. I'm not one who easily complains about every little thing, but I am not comfortable using this office anymore.

Negative experience: I refuse to go back to a dental office that never answers the phone- & I’ve been calling periodically since the summer.

Fantastic experience: Isaiah did a great job with my x-rays and cleaning. Very patient and informative. I would recommend him and Dr. Gatica for all work and cleanings! Dr. Gatica was also patient and talked me through everything!

Negative experience: I have called office left 3 messages after no response 48 hours later to make appointment for my 100 year old mother. Office staff needs improvement.

Negative experience: Got three fillings done and I have had NOTHING but pain since then. Ear aches due to gum swelling, tooth sensitivity, and now my tooth is aching so bad it woke me up! I have called and left messages but no response. Emergency dentist said the fillings were placed too high and are too large, a root canal or crown should have been done! Can’t even call back to check in or offer advice!

Negative experience: My dentist unfortunately left and I scheduled here as a new patient. All I needed was a cleaning. Had my bite wing x-rays forwarded to them. Advised them my insurance won't cover bite wings but once a year. They proceeded to do full mouth X-rays leaving me with a bill to pay....then after I had been there an hour @9 am was informed the dentist was with another patient and the hygienist couldn't see me until 10. This it would be more than 2 hours appointment just for cleaning....well nobody told me this and I had a 10:30 appointment elsewhere. I left, got stuck with a bill .....I will not return to this practice.

Negative experience: The office cancelled my appointment without telling me, then said I could instead come back in two months when I showed up for my appointment. The front desk staff are wildly overworked and visibly stressed, they can’t seem to keep up with calls and check-ins. Get more employees and keep your appointments. Lowering my old review to one star since this office has sent me a weekly bill the past few months of 2025 for services I already paid for back in 2023(!!!). They claim I didn’t pay the measly ~$60 and since I can’t find the receipt from over two years ago I’ve had to pay it AGAIN as they’ve begun threatening me with collections. I’d steer WAY clear from this practice, they’re sneaky and deceitful!

Negative experience: I have had the worst experience with this dental office. I have been rescheduled three times. I have a crown in right now that does not fit and is painful. This is the second crown that has not fit correctly. It is a struggle for me to take off work to make appointments. I have to make appointments two week ahead or my time will not be approved. So now, I have to make an appointment two week ahead and be in pain for another two weeks. Did I mention this is the third time they have rescheduled?? I will definitely be looking for another office.

Negative experience: Place is horrible since corporate took over! Dr Ryan retired early, do to corporate practices! My dad had a filling completed there and within 6 months it is chipping and totally discolored. (Front tooth!!) They have a year guarantee on their work, which was confirmed by the front desk staff when he called them. He has contacted the office numerous times and they said "Dr Ryan retired I will have to reach out to the other dentist." How long does it take for the other dentist to see an email? It's been over a month! It should not matter that a dentist retired, it is a corporate office now. The next dentist needs to fix it. I work in dentistry, I know the routine!! Don't trust this office any more.. just another office ruined by corporate greed!!

Fantastic experience: isaiah did my cleaning and he was awesome! super sweet, professional, and made the whole experience really comfortable. :))

Negative experience: I used to really like this practice, but unfortunately it has declined in reliability and professionalism. I recently received a text stating that my hygienist had an emergency and my appointment was canceled, with the option to reschedule via text. I responded to reschedule but never received a reply. I called on the day of my original appointment and was told it had been canceled because the hygienist (who, by the way, I’ve never had the same one twice) no longer worked there. The explanation was that it was “out of her control,” which felt dismissive and unprofessional. Staff turnover and internal issues should never become the patient’s problem. When you cancel you should follow up with the patient.

Negative experience: I am VERY disappointed in my visit today. Dr. Ryan apparently retired and I was not told. Rescheduled appointment 2x. Apparently some new AI system diagnosed that I needed DEEP cleaning. To the toon of $300+ . I have been going there for over 20 years. I have no teeth issues and take good care of my teeth. Guess I need another dentist. Very sad indeed.

Negative experience: Visits scheduled six months in advance constantly get rescheduled within a week of the appointment. At the last visit, the dental hygienist didn't show up to work. The new Dr. cleaned my teeth and I could have done a more thorough job with a toothbrush and toothpick at home. I get to my 11 o'clock appointment today and I have the confirmation for the appointment at 11 and a brand new text reminder that my appointment is at 12? This place just can't get right. Call around.

Negative experience: Appointments rescheduled 3 times due to “provider unavailable,” had to wait additional 6 months for rescheduled. Given a diagnosis and treatment plan, thankfully I fought a second opinion and found it was unnecessary and misdiagnosed. I will not be going back. My daughter had an awful cleaning experience.

Negative experience: Dentists and hygienists fine. Office staff the worst I've ever seen due to turnover last year. I've been a patient for 15 years and always pay my bills promptly. I was going from employer insurance to a private pay plan and called the office to be sure they participated in the network of the plan I was purchasing and they said they did. I purchased the plan and found out they were out of network. I paid for insurance for preventative care and had to pay the bulk of the charges out of pocket due to them being out of network. My husband had xrays that were supposed to be sent to an oral surgeon. After three requests, they were never sent, so we had to pay for double xrays to the tune of $320+ dollars. Dr. Ryan said to bring the xray bill from the oral surgeon, which was $165, and he would credit the charges. The office staff credited the bill by $24.46. I have called the office miltiple times over the past year to get my bill straightened out and was promised a call back. Only one time did I get a call back. It's terrible to be a patient for 15 years and have to leave due to office staff incompetence, but we don't trust them anymore. My husband needs two crowns costing $1,100 to $1,500 each. We will be seeking a new dentist to have them installed. Not being able to trust the office staff cost the practice our business. They probably could care less anyway.

Negative experience: This practice performs X-rays/exams even when you specifically request them NOT to. Malpractice? On at least four different occasions we've been charged after routine biannual cleanings. Our insurance only covers some X-rays so we learned to always specifically request the covered X-rays (as needed) and nothing else unless something is wrong. After receiving ANOTHER bill in the mail today, I spoke with the practice manager who told me that even though we specifically requested only certain kinds of X-rays, they will do more every once in a while because it's "medically necessary." I was stunned and in disbelief. I replied and said, "So even if I request y'all to NOT do something, you might still do it without telling me if you deem it 'medically necessary'?" They responsed, "Yes." According to their practice manager, this practice will perform additional work on you, without your approval AND EVEN WHEN YOU DIRETLY REQUEST THEY DO NOT, if they deem it "medically necessary." Once again, this was for a ROUTINE CLEANING, there was no problem or concern. So, just be aware. They may go behind your back and perform X-rays or other exams you specifically requested to NOT have done just because they feel like it. I have never had this issue with my insurance or a routine dentist cleaning in my life. It's honestly scary and horrifying that this can happen. So, we will not be returning.

Fantastic experience: I've had very bad experiences with other dentist in the past . From the time I walked in the front door at Peter Creek dentistry I felt welcomed by the receptionist.very nice lady. The dentist and his assistant was super nice and just great people.i was a nervous wreck and it showed.they were very comforting.just great down to earth people.and even the rest of the staff at the check out process went out of there way to interact with me .that goes along way with me !!!!! 5 stars doesn't cover the interaction I got from everyone in that office 10 stars THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING Y'ALL DID TO MAKE ME NOT BE TERRIFIED TO GO TO A DENTIST AGAIN !!!!

Fantastic experience: They are incredibly responsive, answering calls promptly, which I really appreciate. The entire experience was excellent. They are fast, professional, and efficient. They respect my time and offered same-day cleaning with my exam when they realized it wouldn’t take long, saving me from having to make an additional visit.

Fantastic experience: Let me start off by saying I have went to many dentist in the Roanoke area. I have really bad anxiety when it comes to my teeth and I was always so nervous, to the point of dentist offices refusing to help me. This location is much different. They took my worries and fears away. Dr. Ryan is a fabulous dentist that I have been seeing for almost a year now and I have had two-three procedures. I will recommend this place to everyone I can. Thank you Dr. Ryan and staff for always making me feel at ease.

Negative experience: I went to this location with high expectations of getting good service, but ,unfortunately the only thing missing was that I couldn't find my insurance ID after providing all the information through the required form. However, I spoke with my insurance company and found the information requested ,nevertheless, their staff at front desk asked me to coming back and reschedule again in order to avoid "Going through all this again" with clear body language of discomfort , a clear message that the service concept does not exist there or is unknown and of course the customer is not the most important , poor client support and low tolerance if you do a mistake

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient at this place for almost 20 years. Denise and lucinda have always been there and are wonderful ladies that have always taken great care of my family. There have been alot of changes and new faces but it hasn't changed how comfortable it feels to be a patient. The front desk ladies are all smiles. Today I saw juana, she made me feel very comfortable and was extremely thorough. This girl is smart! I have never left the building without a smile. I can't thank Dr. Harrison and Ryan enough. I miss Michelle.

Negative experience: I had a horrible customer service experience! The receptionist and the acting manager were very rude and unwilling to take time to verify insurance co- pay! Manager even went as far as accusing the customer of being rude. I would suggest customer service training but unfortunately I feel it would fall on deaf ears.

Negative experience: Staff was very rude concerning insurance and what appropriate co-pays were to be due at the end of my daughters appointment. I was quoted 120 when I brought to their attention that I had already met required deductible and could they please double check. The receptionist got very nasty and said, “your good to go” then threw the paper towards another desk. I tried to call and speak with manager who then accused me of being rude to her staff. Horrible customer service.

Fantastic experience: I was extremely nervous about a dental procedure that was scheduled for this morning. Amber was so kind and patient and really put me at ease. She helped me get through the procedure just fine. I need to have the second part done in a couple of weeks and I’m certain that I won’t be so anxious for that part.

Negative experience: Scolding hygienist who failed to stop when asked to. Same one aggressively cleaned my teeth. Gums sore for days. Left in tears. Office manager called me back after five hours and backed the hygienist. Both office manager and hygienist defended their actions saying they were only doing their jobs. No apology from doctor for his hygienist but profusely apologies from front office staff.

Fantastic experience: My older brother recommended this place to me as we both grew up with not the best insurance, so I finally had my first appointment after 10 years for a cleaning a month ago and I just got my two filings yesterday and I was so extremely nervous and as soon as I got back there they got straight to the point and immediately Numbed me I didn’t even feel the needle so gentle and kind I didn’t feel judged at all for the condition of my mouth I can’t wait to get the rest of my teeth fixed. Fantastic experience: Peters Creek Dentistry is a great place to go. They are super reasonable and don’t try to up sale you on things that just need to be watched. There front desk are all really helped and nice. The dental hygienist Juana is the best, i’d give her a raise if it was my choice.

Fantastic experience: Was in for my regular cleaning, which went just fine. Quick and mostly painless. But what I really want to do is pass the kudos and thanks to Dr. Ryan and staff for working my husband in on an emergency visit. Getting ready for a business trip and has a painful tooth or gum. Dr Ryan checked it and provided prescription for antibiotics and a pain killer to hold him over till he gets back.
