Fantastic experience: Awesome people, great service.

Fantastic experience: The staff here are attentive, compitent, and compasionate. Dr David Velek is a tooth whisper and during my mouth work talked me through every step of the procedure calmly. He executed a very tricky tooth extraction with experience and care. Together with his assistent Lexi, the dynamic dental duo, I was in very good hands. Thank you NWM health service for your hard work and dedication to helping people live a better quality of life.

Negative experience: Recently, I decided to get my teeth looked at after years of chemotherapy and having such problems with my health. I went in with an open mind and as my mouth was being evaluated, I could hear a young girl talk about my situation. This young assistant has no idea how that impacted my time there. I was told her name was Alexis or Lexi for short, as I understand I am a difficult case, no patient should feel let alone HEAR judgement from anyone in healthcare. Please do better for the next patient that comes in trusting you with insecurities as I will not return nor will I recommend this establishment to anyone in the future. As this is acceptable behavior from your employees. I do appreciate the Doctor that was very sweet. A company is only as strong as its weakest link. Thank you for your time and best of wishes if you choose this establishment for your dentistry needs.

Negative experience: I have been trying to get ahold of this office to schedule a sick visit since March 31st. I called Tuesday March 31st at 5:13, no answer so I left a vm. Wednesday 3:23pm, no answer left a vm. Thursday (yesterday) 4:18pm and I tried calling 4 times through 4:21pm. I called today at 3:18pm, no answer. I called again at 3:20, and selected the option to their admin department, who then seems like they sent a message over to the scheduler Grace to call me. I finally then received my first call back for scheduling from Grace, but it was from a different phone number than their main line and I was working so it went to voicemail. She claimed she had gotten my voicemails and had called me and has been leaving voicemails- that it seemed like we were playing phone tag. I have no records of her attempting to call even in my spam calls/voicemails. She also pronounced my last name wrong, which tells me she likely did not listen to my voicemails since I pronounced my last name in them. I called her back only 4 minutes after receiving that voicemail and left another voicemail to them saying nobody has reached out or left any voicemails, that the last one was the only communication I’ve received. I then called again another 8 minutes later and Grace did answer this time! I told her I’ve been trying to schedule and got no calls from anyone, but she just continued her sentence talking over me, didn’t address it at all. I set an appointment but now it isn’t until April 15th, which is upsetting since I started this process the first day I felt my antibiotics weren’t helping my throat and ear issues.

Fantastic experience: I have been so pleased with this facility. The staff is extremely helpful, professional, amd friendly. I have loved the two doctors that I have had. I always recommend NW Michigan Health Department!

Fantastic experience: I went to NW Michigan Medicine for the first time to have 4 teeth extracted. They got me right in due to my extreme pain that I was experiencing. These girls were from the U of M dental school and they were amazing. These ladies were absolutely the best. What a great experience.

They are flexible when something pops up and I need to reschedule. They remember me and know me by name. Every time I go to my appointment, they are prompt, genuine with care, and get things done. Fantastic experience: Dr Velek is AWESOME!!! He makes every single visit fun, entertaining, and I know I’m in great hands and goes above and beyond to make sure I’m comfortable and our communication is top notch. Honestly, he is the best dentist I’ve ever had. He not only has the knowledge, skills, and intelligence for dentistry, but also the compassion, humor, patience, empathy, and passion and heart as well. He is never annoyed by all of my questions and curiosity to know what he is doing or plans to do; or why he does what he does a certain way. He takes the time to explain things, which also makes him a great teacher! I’m always up for learning new things, and great conversations!! I cannot see him as anything else in a career. He has completely changed the narrative of how I feel going to get my teeth drilled on. Oddly, I enjoy the time and am so grateful for the time, energy, and effort he has always gives to help bring my confidence every time I see my smile. Fantastic experience: Clarissa Roman did an excellent job of rescuing me when I needed help urgently. Had an infection that went from my tooth to my ear then to my heart. They sent me to Frankfurt where I receive the treatment I needed. That was two years ago. Now I’m getting dentures done by Dr. Velek. He and his staff have been outstanding from day one. Very professional and talented. He is very knowledgeable and speaks directly. He is a super star in my opinion! Shout out to Gabbie over in the Lake Leelanau office of MI-DHHS who was my guardian angel during the entire process! CLARISSA ROMAN IS OUTSTANDING!!! ❤️ Community Health Worker extraordinaire She showed me the way to stay healthy! So genuine and kind! A local treasure! The COO is a talented and seasoned medical professional who has transformed this facility into a life saving rescue for those in need in the area. Dr. Velek is knowledgeable and talented! His personality made this experience so positive for me! He is an outstanding dentist! Never felt and pain and he was so patient! This facility is offering much-needed healthcare to those in the Grand Traverse Bay Area! Thank you ALL for rescuing me from near death! My new dentures are fantastic!

Fantastic experience: I would give this Dental office, their associates and especially.. Adalene Chabon DDS 10,000 ⭐️'s if this would let me! Everyone is very kind, Adalene is absolutely the kindest and she Truly cares about her patients, their happiness and satisfaction!!!! I have had 3 sets of dentures in the past but this new set I will be getting soon is Absolutely the Best I have ever seen!!! The wax ones w/teeth are So Gorgeous... only one little adjustment to make. Everything lined up Perfectly! My new ones are So beautiful... they truly made me feel like a movie star!! Fantastic experience: Always very helpful and go over and beyond to help there patience

Negative experience: They are so busy since the dentists around town stopped accepting insurance (that is what was stated, don't know if it is true); that it took around three months before billing sent in a claim for a pretreatment estimate for my #3 molar crown. The claim was denied as was the appeal. It's been approximately six months from the time of request for a crown til now. Too bad that if you have insurance you are lower on the waiting list for an appointment than the uninsured. The insurance needs to go through the approval process before you can go on the waiting list. Efficiency would be greatly improved if the major players were able to feel the pain caused by the above mentioned neglect and inefficiency.

Fantastic experience: I see Dr. Chabon and she is amazing. I love my smile again and I’m not afraid of the dentist anymore. Every staff member I’ve met there has been professional and kind. They also see our kids and were exceptional through the process of educating me and connecting them with an orthodontist. They are very knowledgeable about new treatments and methods of maintaining dental health for children. It’s actually pretty easy and reasonable to make an appointment there including walk in appointments for emergency situations.

Fantastic experience: This is to update a post I made a while ago concerning NMHSI. Drs Gravelie and Ushuck are the best there is. They actually listen to me. I look forward to my appointments because I know I'll be satisfied afterwards. If ANYONE is considering looking for a Dr (or changing who they are seeing now) please check out Northwest Michigan Health Services...you will not go wrong.

Negative experience: Twice now husband's appointment was cancelled the day before the appointment because the Dr won't be in that day. This after husband had to schedule the day off missing a shift for the week both times. SO unprofessional.

Negative experience: Horrible service!! I informed them when I started going to them that I live 1.5 away from their office I had an appointment at 6 pm I arrived 20 mins early for them to tell me the dentist left for the day and that they tried contacting me to let me know and they DID NOT try contacting me at all! So I wasted $25 in gas, put ware and tare on my vehicle and not to mention I also just worked an 8 hr shift before arriving to their office, the ladies at the front desk were very inconsiderate and not too professional in my opinion... so if your looking for a dental office for your needs I would STRONGLY SUGGEST not to bring yourself or family here! Keep searching for the right one because this is NOT IT!

Negative experience: I do NOT know what is going on around this facility but the turnaround rate is insane. Aimee Stahl and Jody are who I see are 2 of the most wonderful humans I've ever met in my life. I was informed this morning Jody is leaving. I'm mad. I started to sob right there on the phone. That's how much of a positive impact that woman has on people. So I am mad. I recently went through a mental health crisis and this woman who had no reason to called and called and called and let me cry and yell and she is going to be a tragic loss. I dont know the reasons she is leaving but if it is financial then I say you pay this lady max amount and keep her. I've been come to this office for a very long time and she is by far the best nurse Aimee has ever had. I dont like that she is leaving. She is what makes me comfortable to come there. This isn't fair and I feel you should fix this and literally beg her to stay. She is worth every penny and more. Man I sobbed writing this if that tells you how important she is to your facility.

Negative experience: Horrible customer service from Michael in the billing department. I called to pay a remaining balance on so work I had done, a remaining balance that didn't make sense to me because I pay in full upon the end of each of my visits. I also keep records of all my payments and the account but somehow was still billed again after leaving, when I asked to have this explained she got very frustrated and kept going in a circle until SHE hung up on me. Wow. The attitude and horrible customer service I received from the billing department was enough to make me never return to this company. Be warned, the price they tell you or even the amount paid in full at the end of service is still subject to change if they decide to bill you more.

Fantastic experience: I feel very fortunate to have a dental office that is truly dedicated to actually helping their patients. I used to have a phobia about going to the dentist, but that has changed. The staff there is incredibly kind, patient, friendly, and supportive. They all do an excellent job!

Positive experience: Intake girl spoke very fast. I had to ask her to repeat everything. She Never made eye contact once. Other duties performed well and fairly polite. Billing informed me after 4 visits that each visit was $20 copay and I now owe $80. 3rd visit said copay and then said sorry, "their mistake"no copay. NOT COOL. Everyone polite. But Obviously not fully up and running staff.

After trying many dental offices in northern Michigan, I confidently recommend this one. I also appreciate that students work hands-on with patients, as it ensures their best effort in my dental care.

She made my dental extraction so much easier - I have such bad dental anxiety and they made the process so tolerable!

Negative experience: It’s rare you ever see the same doctor so it’s always something new to the person you’re seeing. It’s also rare you’re even seeing a doctor, it’s mainly nurse practitioners who are 10 years younger than you. I’ve had nurses who tried to convince me to get off my medications. And told me she wouldn’t be refilling a medication because I’ve been having fewer migraines which that medication is the reason for that.

Fantastic experience: This team is amazing. I’ve been through so much tooth pain and they got me in right away to remove the problem. I wouldn’t want another dentist. The girls are so amazing and so sweet. I highly recommend!!

Negative experience: Not the place to go if you have an actual dental emergency. Waited almost 5 hours and was never seen. Finally just got up and left.

Fantastic experience: Receptionists, dentist and dental hygienists are all very kind, helpful and attentive. Patient and willing to listen and answer questions. Great job cleaning my teeth even though I was long overdue. Explained my x rays and gum examination to me. I was seen at the time I was scheduled for. They made a referral for me to an oral surgeon within 24 hours of my appointment with them, for a wisdom tooth extraction.

They are great dentists, fun to be around- very down to earth but also professional, and very smart, and honest with what you need. The front desk ladies Maddie, Bonnie, Denise, Connie are also very helpful and great with scheduling! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for dental care. There is also a doctor's office here on site in the same building, translators, and social workers. It's basically a one stop shop! I'll always have good things to say about Northwest MI Health Services! They have truly been a blessing in my life when I needed it most ❤️ Thank you !

Negative experience: They never call with lab, or test results. Never upload labs or reports to the portal, yet forward you to the portal anytime you call. Referrals take forever, and need reminders. They never return calls, and almost never answer the phone. They ask if Im actually a patient every time I visit them in person. The actual DR isn't terrible, but this office is the worst. I definitely do not recommend.

Fantastic experience: It’s pretty difficult to get your first appointment because they are so booked out. But any cancellations they would call to schedule. I cant recommend a better dentist. I see Dr. Chabon. Shes amazing! They do so well with me and always check to make sure I'm doing ok. Waiting for the appointments is worth it because they care about their patients. Plus this place is inexpensive and also offers health services and psychological services.

Dental work hight demand is very hard to get a new patient appointment soon have to wait a few months. However if it is an emergency you can come in early and they can get you seen, might have to wait a bit first come first serve but awesome they offer that since so booked up. Negative experience: Dr chabon didn't even help with my pain when I went in to let her know I have a dry socket which she never helped with either, I literally went to get a second opinion which was a dry socket. They're just not helpful at all an wouldnt recommend coming here an would highly recommend going to a professional dentist that does know what they're doing, don't go to this place if you wanna be treated less of a human being an misdiagnosed.

Negative experience: Called to ask for an emergency extraction. The receptionist was unhelpful, condescending, and rude. I am in pain. I hope she needs dental help one day and gets the same rude reception that she gives out on the phone every day at this office. Where do dental receptionists learn to be so unsympathetic and rude? Is there a school? Do millennials get a scholarship?

Fantastic experience: Competent and friendly personnel. In house pharmacy and lab. I couldn't be happier with the care I received there. Fees based on income. Spanish speaking personnel too. 2024. I have gone to NMHS for years. I have the highest regard for my wonderful Dr. and the staff. We all need Healthcare and NMHS offers so much, health, dental and mental health. Not to mention sliding scale rates. Don't hesitate. CALL
