Fantastic experience: Absolutely my best decision. This practice, start to finish, is the best. Excellent reception, insurance person, and dental assistant, and, without a doubt, the best and kindest dentist I've been to in a long time. If you are looking for a new dentist, start here.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Dr. Patel‘s practice for years ever since he came to the Mount Airy office. I found Dr. Patel very pleasant to work with very personable. His Staffs are just wonderful. When Dr. Patel first took over the practice, I found out I needed a new nightguard, because the one made by the previous dentist did not protect my teeth as well. Dr. Patel gave me a refund for the old night guard, even though it was not made by him. I thought that was very honorable and kind of him. I did not have any problem with the routine cleanings and the dental works done by Dr. Patel’s office.

Negative experience: This is a good practice, but they seem to way over book their appointments. I am almost always moved for various reasons - and have not had a check up and clean for almost a year. Most recently I was told that the dentist was taking a month off because his wife was having a baby. That is great for him but why schedule an appointment when you know well in advance that you are likely to be unavailable. They need to be more honest with their patients.

Fantastic experience: I had to switch dentist when my insurance changed. I looked for a doctor in my plan and found Dr. Patel. After reading other reviews, I decided to take a chance that he was in fact, gentle and kind. My hygienist, Michelle, listened and understood my past dental horror stories and was very gentle. When it was time to meet Dr. Patel, he actually took a moment to introduce himself and chat before examining my teeth. I was pleased from start to finish and would definitely recommend this practice.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic dentist! Michelle has been cleaning my teeth for years and she knows my history. She does a fantastic job and is always careful around my one tooth that I had a crown put on years ago. (Different dentist). Dr Patel does a great job with his inspection and has fixed a cavity here and there for me. The front desk girls are always in such a good mood and their music playlist in the office is perfect! Thank you so much for the personal care you give to my wife and I!

Fantastic experience: Environment comfortable and nicely decorated; staff amicable and efficient; addressed my concerns and answered my questions in a very professional and clear manner; actually, a very pleasant experience which you don't normally hear for a dental visit! Dr. Patel was friendly, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain and suggest future treatment plans which was very helpful and allayed any "fears" I may have had. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: Staff was friendly as could be but did nothing to address my issue that I had mentioned on the phone when booking my appointment. I got a referral to a oral surgeon which could have been shared with me when I first called, saving me hours of being at their appointment. Instead they let me waste an afternoon, unpaid from work, to offer me a barrage of work I need to have done. While I likely do need that other work - not one thing they offered me addressed my actual reason for being there. Wasted my time to listen to a sales pitch. I will not be back to this practice.

Fantastic experience: I used to be terrified of the dentist but this place really knows how to calm you down. The doctor is super sweet and even does a quick oral cancer screening during every checkup to make sure you’re as healthy as can be. The front end receptionists are always really nice and the hygienists always listen if you have any concerns. Could not recommend this place any more, 10 stars out of 5!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Damascus Dental for many years, and I have never had a reason to complain. The staff is very professional and friendly. The office is stylish and very clean. The atmosphere is calming and nice.

Positive experience: This is probably a great place for routine dentistry. However, I made this appointment specifically to get x-rays and a referral for wisdom tooth removal. I verified multiple times with the lady who set up the appointment that I would leave with what i needed to set up wisdom tooth extraction. I didn't find out until i was already back in the exam chair that their panoramic xray machine was down. Things happen, I get it, but everyone knew when they talked to me today that the main purpose of my visit was the wisdom teeth, so I would have apprecated a call to reschedule when the machine stopped working. Yes, I know more than I did this morning about my teeth and gums, but im exactly where i was with my wisdom teeth so i kinda feel like i wasted my time. Out of pocket expenses are pretty high also.

Fantastic experience: I really like Dr. Patel and the staff at Damascus Dental in Mount Airy. They are all very nice and Dr. Patel does a great job! I had a front tooth veneer come off and they got me in the same day I called and worked for quite awhile to get a temporary replacement on so that I would not have to go out in public with it missing. I feel like they may have worked through their lunch break too for me and it is so much appreciated!

Negative experience: Avoid this dentist office at all costs. They don't accept insurance and charge exorbitant prices—we were billed $4000 for a simple cavity filling, and they even managed to break the tooth in the process. Their staff is unprofessional, and the service is abysmal. The dentist clearly lacks competence and the quality of work is atrocious. Save yourself the trouble and find a more reputable practice.

Going to a dentist can give you different levels of anxiety, and I felt zero from the time that I entered that door. The front staff, the assistance, all the way to the dentist himself, are just amazing people. The bedside manner that is given, gives you a very calm sense of relaxation throughout the entire visit. I would recommend this establishment to anyone interested. I live in Silver Spring, but took the journey to Damascus just to see these people. They are worth it!!!

Fantastic experience: I had a very overdue cleaning today and was impressed with the new Dentist there Dr. Patel Sarah did a great job with my nervous butt and treated my very gently. Very informative And to top it off, The staff at the front desk reception exceeded any expectations. Started my day off great with the overwhelming friendliness they gave me especially Niesha. Can’t wait to go back?! To the dentist? Yeah I said it!!

Negative experience: Absolutely terrible. After spending nearly three months to get new dentures. Lower one had issues. After two visits to adjust he completely botched the dentures. Obviously does not know how to file and polish. Gave up, took dentures back, started offering 20,000 and 60,000 dollar solutions and made me feel as if I was the problem. He's good I guess for teeth whitening.

Fantastic experience: Niesha, Barb, Rebecca and Dr. Patel are always very friendly. Rebecca does a thorough cleaning and Dr. Patel explains things in a manner which I can understand. Rebecca and Dr. Patel gives suggestions on ways to improve dental hygiene without coming across as blaming. The dentist is not my favorite place to go but the staff there make it a lot easier to keep me as a client.

Negative experience: DO NOT GO HERE! This office has gone completely downhill since it was sold to Dr. Patel. I was completely misquoted for dental work and had to literally pay double because "a rare loophole in my insurance" they conveniently didn't find out about until after billing. Now, after 15 years, they suddenly don't take my insurance any longer and I can't even go back to have the dentist address issues that he caused. Even though I went back several time after the work complaining of pain and was told to "just brush with Sensodyne and it will eventually get better." Well guess what, pretty sure I have an infection in there and will be following up with a lawyer after a new, and actual competent dentist, helps me. I had been going to Dr. McKane for over 15 years and never had a single problem. This place is utterly terrible now!!

Fantastic experience: Modern dentistry is brilliant. I was in high school the last time I had a tooth drilled for a filling. Composite fillings sure beat old school amalgam. The staff is friendly and doctor did an amazing job. No pain or side effects. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: I went to Damascus Dental of Mt. Airty for many years without problems. However, it’s changed for the worst the past year or so. Dr. Patel isn’t in on Fridays but they’ll still book appointments and bill your insurance the same. Not sure if this is even allowed. I’ve also been called and asked to reschedule appointments I’ve had for months in advance several times. They recently decided to go out of network for many major insurances without any heads up. Patients be warned. I will be finding a new dentist.
