Negative experience: I arrived at 10:45AM left office at 1:15pm. Not organized. Couldn’t find my name on the computer while I was sitting in the chair. I waited& they didn’t even clean my teeth. & then I was seen for my braces and they took FOREVER.

Negative experience: This is by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They scheduled my appointment for 9:00 AM—right when they open—but the dentist didn’t even bother to show up until 10:00 AM. To make matters worse, the staff didn't even start trickling in until 9:30 AM. This is my third attempt trying to get treated here. On a previous visit, I was left waiting for two and a half hours! This was the absolute last chance I am giving this horrible office. Save yourself the frustration and find a clinic that actually respects its patients.

Negative experience: The rudest customer service ever! My poor mom CANNOT SEE my dad CANNOT WRITE. I usually go with my parents to their appointments but I do work. Hoping that western is able to help my parents but come to find out they did not treat my parents with respect. They did not want to help my parents with the paperwork, instead told my mom to take it home and have someone fill it out and get an appointment another day. In a rude manner. I understand it gets busy but it’s not what you say but how you say it. As for setting an appointment for another day, they cannot since the benefits in hand are going to expire by July 1st. This is so disappointing. I wish the Topanga location was still in business.

Negative experience: Worst experience. I arrived and was address by two women behind the counter who said sign in and take a seat. I waited over 20 minutes, until I decided to ask how much longer for my son to be called in. Then a girl who might have been on break asked me to fill out new patient paperwork. I all that to then be informed that my son needed to be assigned to this location. This is a mistake made by scheduling once again. Also the front office staff needs to pay more attention and make sure patients are not just waiting in the lobby!

Fantastic experience: I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Gulay and her incredible team! From the moment I called and walked in, I felt genuinely cared for. The front office staff, Liliana and Soledad, were absolutely amazing — kind, patient, and attentive. They made the whole process smooth and welcoming, even while I was in severe pain and anxious. Dr. Gulay herself is skilled, compassionate, and calming. She carefully addressed my pain and explained everything so I felt safe and understood. Her nurse, Sandra, was equally wonderful — attentive, reassuring, and made the procedure much less intimidating. The whole team works seamlessly together, making a stressful, painful situation feel manageable. I left feeling supported, cared for, and truly grateful. I highly recommend this practice to anyone who needs dental care — especially if you’re in pain and need compassionate professionals who actually listen.

Negative experience: Beware of this place. This is the second time in two years I've dealt with the exact same problem here: completely dysfunctional scheduling and zero respect for patients’ time. Our appointment was scheduled for 4:30 PM. My son and I checked in and waited. And waited. And waited. By 6:00 PM, staff finally came out and told us they were closing and would not be able to see us. Yes — you read that correctly. They let us sit there for an hour and a half past our scheduled appointment, only to tell us at closing time that we would not be seen. No warning. No update. Nothing. To make it worse, another family was sitting there the entire time as well and received the exact same treatment. This isn’t a one-off mistake either. The last time we came here they scheduled us for the wrong services entirely, which wasted another visit. At this point the issue clearly isn’t the front desk staff — I actually feel bad for them. The problem seems to be the doctors and whoever is running operations in the back, because this level of disorganization doesn’t happen by accident. Patients schedule their lives around these appointments. Parents bring their kids, leave work early, fight traffic — and this office apparently thinks it’s acceptable to let people sit there until closing just to say “sorry, come back another day.” I almost never write reviews, but after experiencing this twice, I feel obligated to warn others. If you value your time at all, avoid this place. And based on the experience we just had, it’s extremely hard to believe the 4-star rating here reflects real patient experiences. All of the 5 star reviews here must be from paid bots. There is no other explanation. DONT FILL YOUR REVIEWS WITH BOTS!

Negative experience: Racist and unprofessional. Black patients are not treated with care here. The woman who took my X-rays, Susan, was extremely rough and condescending from the start. After Kat (who was kind and professional) flossed and polished my teeth, another woman—who I was told was cleaning my teeth and may or may not have been the actual dentist—was assigned to finish the cleaning. She only cleaned the front bottom teeth. She did not clean the top teeth at all, nor the backs of the bottom teeth on either side. When I asked her to finish cleaning the rest of my mouth, she removed her magnification glasses, refused to put them back on when I asked, claimed she could “see just fine,” and then began scraping my teeth without proper visual aid, which was painful and unsafe. At that point, I stopped her and asked her to leave my mouth alone because I was not going to allow myself to be injured. Before this, she attempted to say that Kat had already cleaned the rest of my teeth, which was not true—Kat did not scrape my teeth at all. It felt as though she assumed I wouldn’t know the difference. The situation escalated further when she told a manager that I had called her “Asian,” which is completely false. I did not know her ethnicity until she said it. In what logical world would I insult or disrespect someone who is about to put sharp instruments in my mouth? That accusation made no sense and felt like projection. The manager acknowledged this, yet no accountability followed. What actually happened is that when she entered the room, I asked where the doctor from my previous visit was. I was told that doctor was not there. That was it. Somehow, she internalized this as a personal or racial rejection, became disengaged, and then provided incomplete and unsafe care. Because of her behavior, refusal to properly clean my teeth, and false accusation, I did not receive a full dental cleaning that day. Patients deserve attentiveness, emotional maturity, and basic professional standards—especially when sharp tools and patient safety are involved. If someone cannot manage their assumptions, emotions, or workload, they should not be treating patients.

Negative experience: The dentists only care about selling you things like gumx and not fixing the problem. New, inexperienced, and looking to make a buck. A real dentist fixed my issue with one cleaning.

Negative experience: They booked the wrong appointment for my son and scheduled an orthopedic consultation that we didn’t ask for when the appointment was supposed to be for a cleaning. We waited a long time too for the wrong appointment and they had too many people scheduled in the waiting room at 4:30pm overbooked. Then when I asked to speak to the manager she was too busy to come out and talk to the customer. Then they had me reschedule and come back at a different time rather then squeezing me into the scheduled appointment date.

Positive experience: I had a very disappointing and upsetting experience at Western Dental. I went in last fall for an orthodontic consultation and was told I had an edge-to-edge bite. The orthodontist recommended braces, and I spoke with Karen, the patient coordinator, about treatment options. I told her clearly that I couldn’t afford either clear aligners or braces outright. She offered me a $500 discount and suggested I apply for CareCredit for monthly payments. I was approved and agreed to go forward with traditional metal braces, thinking the cost, with the discount, would be $4,000. Later, I found out that I had been charged for Gold braces, which are more expensive and purely cosmetic. I never chose or agreed to Gold braces, I don’t even like the color gold! I wanted and consented to regular metal braces only. When I confronted Karen about this, she brushed it off, saying I still received a discount, and dismissed my concerns completely. I later contacted Western Dental corporate, and they confirmed that traditional metal braces with the discount should have been $3,500 and not the higher amount I was charged. This is incredibly unethical. If I needed to finance my treatment with CareCredit, why would I agree to the most expensive option without being informed? It’s clear I was upcharged without my consent. I feel misled and taken advantage of, and I would recommend speaking to someone besides Karen. Patients deserve transparency and respect! Not hidden charges and dismissive treatment. On the bright side, my orthodontist is great, extremely caring, and easy to talk to. I would definitely recommend her !

Negative experience: First of all, this place is dark, like they're hiding something. Usually, dental offices are well lit. The staff is lacking in customer service.

Negative experience: Very upset set root canal for my son on the June 26tj they told me I had a regular dentist visit I canceled my appointment and the doctor only comes once a month and my son needs it this month very upset

Negative experience: I left this dental office due to poor scheduling and a focus on profit over patient care. I had multiple frustrating experiences, including being told that the insurance person had left for the day, which required me to reschedule. I also received a call to reschedule because the doctor had an emergency. Additionally, I often waited 30 minutes past my appointment time to see the dentist. Overall, the quality of customer service has declined significantly after years of visiting. I do not recommend this dental office.

Fantastic experience: Thank you western dental, my daughter was very happy with the lady who was in charge of doing her dental cleaning. The lady wasn’t doing her dental cleaning in a rush, she took her time with my daughter.

Negative experience: I had a very frustrating and disappointing experience at Western Dental and Orthodontics, during my recent wisdom teeth removal procedure. On the day of my appointment, just 30 minutes before my scheduled appointment, I received a call informing me that someone had “forgotten” to send out the anesthetic for approval, meaning I would need to reschedule. This last-minute cancellation was incredibly inconvenient and unprofessional, especially when my husband and I had planned our day around this visit and had both taken time off work. I understand that things happen, but this mistake could have been avoided with better attention to detail and communication. When I had specifically called repeatedly, to make sure that my treatment had been approved. On top of that, the dentist who performs the extractions is ONLY available once a month, meaning I wouldn’t be able to be seen for another month. When I tried to get clarification, the staff wasn’t apologetic or seem to take accountability for the inconvenience. From the start, the staff seemed uninterested in providing quality service. The lack of consideration for my time is really disappointing. Overall, I won’t be returning, and I would not recommend this practice to others who value their time or expect reliable service.

Negative experience: Really bad service and a lot of discrimination and they lied to me

Negative experience: I came in with a crown that fell off. They allowed an assistant who isn’t licensed to do oral surgery and put back on my tooth completely crooked. Then once I came back and they needed to take it off they damaged my crown and now I’m being forced to go elsewhere and waste my entire weekend along with potentially over $1000 on a brand new crown when mine wasn’t even 3 years old. Literally malpractice.

Negative experience: The service was utterly atrocious. I endured an endless wait, only to be moved to another room where I was left waiting for another hour just for a check-up. On top of that, they have cancelled three appointments, which is shockingly inconsiderate. I've had to rearrange my entire schedule for these appointments, only to be informed at the very last minute of yet another rescheduling. I will never return. Avoid this place at all costs unless you want to waste hours being ignored and forgotten. If it were possible to rate them lower than one star, I definitely would. Horrible.

Fantastic experience: Awesome experience

Negative experience: I had to wait 3 hours for my appointment, and there was a previous patient that was upset at the receptionists for whichever reason. But I have NEVER had to wait 3 hours just to be seen for a routine check up. And also the fact that the receptionists didn’t even know I hadn’t been seen in that time frame, when I kept asking how much longer shows miscommunication. Just my experience, but I will not be returning or recommending in the future. But once that hiatus was over I did have a good experience, but honestly I’ve had better elsewhere. Also I’ve never had a dentist try and sell me something unless I needed it type thing so that just showed they are money hungry like the rest, just an added opinion.

Negative experience: This place sucks and it used to be a lot better a few years ago! If you go in for a simple 5-minute checkup, expect to wait 3 hours or so while people who came after you go in first, which was my experience.

Negative experience: I would run so fast from this place !!! i went to the dentist originally on 09/3/24 with a tooth that had the crown off tooth 31 of it when I went their treatment for a root canal and the crown was discussed by Dr. Merri they scheduled me with an endodontist for 09/23/2024 I waited for the appointment assuming I would be seen when I got there it was for a (consultation ) that I was told the procedure would be done when I got there I did the consultation and they were supposed to refer me yosleen was supposed to reach out because the front desk couldn't find a refreal and they were going on lunch break they scheduled the appointment for 12pm I called them 09/23/24 09/24/24 09/27/24 09/30/24 10/7/24 10/8/24 no one ever got back to me and I went and found an endonisist who did the rootcanal I called them back and was scheduled for the 18th a few days before I got an email saying it was canceled so I called the 12th and they said it was because the crown wasn't in however we never did prep or anything they scheduled me for today I waited 44 days for treatment then I had a new issue one of my teeth on 19th had a crack in the filling today when I went in yosleen was there and confessed she thought someone handled it and didn't feel the need to call me also daniel Velazquez the office manager was there when I initially went in no one mention a crown lengthing procedure after waiting 44 days they told me I would need that but dr merri seen me the first time and did not mention it and now she is saying I need it as I am in pain they didn't help me and tried to schedule me for a specialist I told them I waited 44 days and didn't get no help I said I spent 1500 on a root canal because ur endodnist wanted to refer me and no one gave me a referral which was negligence then the pain and suffering I went through I am still without temp crown and left with no filling I was seen today at 4 and they did nothing when asking how can we make it right they didn't have no suggestions

Negative experience: Long wait times. It’s genuinely insane that you have to wait for HOURS because there aren’t any assistants or doctors available. My appointment was at 11:30 am and I waited for four hours to be called for X-rays. Additionally, ANOTHER HOUR just waiting for the dentist to actually start the check up. So, if you are willing to starve and wait for hours while hearing children crying, this is the place for you!!!

Negative experience: Service was good but the work on my rootcanel was awful I got a rootcanal and within 2 days half of my tooth broke and knowthey gotta do it again..worst experience ever .

Fantastic experience: Had a lot of issues that I was putting off from fear of dentists. The staff at their office helped me to get over the fear of getting treatment and now I am almost done getting my teeth healthy. The oral surgeon Dr.Saliba is top knotch as well and is well worth the wait as he is only in a couple of times a month there. He was so kind and patient with me making sure I was not in pain or feeling anything for the 3 extractions I had. He explained what he was doing and what to expect which helped alot. He and the doctors did a great job of making you comfortable which keeps patients coming back. I can say that after having a couple of procedures done I have gotten over the fear and am looking forward to finishing my last couple of fillings in a few weeks. It feels great not living in pain and I appreciate the good staff here for making that happen after so many years of dealing with it.

Negative experience: A few years ago, it was called blue hills dental and the service was amazing and the people were friendly and welcome you. Now that they transferred to western Dental the service and the waiting time is the worst of this office. Every time I visit I have to wait more than a hour in the waiting area and inside I have to wait more. I just had one of the worst experiences, orthodontist needed to see me for just a consult and they ended up not seeing me because front desk told me that I needed to wait another hour and lunch was close and I was going to wait more. My appointment was schedule to 9 then a day before to confirm appointment they told me 11 then I told them it was late, so the lady told me to get there at 9:30. The people are unorganized and the service is so bad. I really miss my dentist from the past she was sweet and all the people were great.

Negative experience: Very unorganized. My appointment was at 9am but they don’t open until 9am. Why have an appointment slot at 9am when they aren’t ready to assist? By 9:30 the waiting area was full, waiting on the receptionist who was running late. People who were coming in for their 10:30 appointment were being seen right away. After an hour and half of waiting I canceled my appointment. I was their new patient, I will gladly go elsewhere.

Negative experience: If you need any orthodontics work done do not go here!! My son got braces done and in less than 2 hours they snapped. Its been almost 1 week and no one wants to help me out nor take responsibility. They give you the run around and no one can do anything. Ashley who works in the Panorama city always busy on lunch and wont show face. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Working on getting a refund or I will be taking legal actions. They didn’t have problems taking my money but they are not willing to help. Dont go here!!

Negative experience: The staff here are very unprofessional, disorganized, and lack basic customer service. I had an appointment today at 3:00pm to get my wisdom teeth removed and when I arrived the receptionist told me that the oral surgeon had left for the day/month. This is very upsetting because I literally stopped eating 12 hours prior to my surgery, called out of work, wasted gasoline to get there, and made the person who was going to look after me call out of work.

Negative experience: Best experience with a dentist ever! My current dentist made the mistake of sending me to W.D. for a root canal (turns out I didn't need it!!) and now I am switching to W.D. Dr. Ash and his assistant Kevin were everything you could ever want in someone you are trusting with your teeth. Kind, to-the-point, and super fast! It was like 20 minutes for a filling! Also, and importantly, I didn't feel a thing! It's two days later and still no pain. Also, the ladies at the front desk were super nice and super awesome! I would seriously give W.D. ten stars if I could! update! My dentist said I needed a filling in a tooth that felt fine, never any pain, now it hurts like hell! I tried to call them..
