They adhere to COVID safety practices; the process is organized and consistent and creates an environment that makes the patient comfortable while providing protection for the staff...not an easy task to accomplish! Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Jay is exceptional! My daughter developed a toothache, and I called at the last minute hoping to find an appointment later in the day. Dr. Jay personally answered the phone after hours, and although his wonderful staff quickly arranged an appointment for Monday, he went above and beyond by staying late to see my daughter the very same day. To make matters worse, I accidentally went to the wrong office location, but Dr. Jay was incredibly understanding and still welcomed my daughter as a new patient. From the moment we called, everyone was kind, accommodating, and genuinely cared about helping us through a dental emergency. My family and I were looking for a dentist and was recommended to Vibrant Smiles of Holland almost 20 years ago, that alone should say something about this office. When I found out that Dr. Nack was retiring I was happy for him, but nervous about meeting a new dentist and possibly a whole new staff. Since I’ve been there for almost 20 years you build a relationship over that time with everyone. Everyone at this office is warm, caring, and kindhearted. Diane at the front desk is amazing, especially with assisting me on any insurance questions I might have. Jean my dental hygienist is wonderful and reassuring, always educating me on up-to-date dental hygiene. Dental assistance’s Jen and Mariana are calm and soothing especially during dental work being done. That leaves me to the “NEW” dentist Dr. Jay Patel (aka Dr. Jay). Well, what can I say, Dr. Nack picked the “BEST” dentist to fit into this practice. Dr. Jay’s smile alone puts you at ease, his mannerism is incredible, he is caring, comforting, and compassionate every positive word you can think of describes Dr. Jay. I recently had an implant put in by Dr. Jay and my tooth fits in like a glove. The tooth coloring matched perfectly to my other teeth; you would never know I had an implant. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Jay and his entire staff if anyone is looking for a dentist.

Experiencia negativa: I recently had an experience at Dr. Jay's dental office that left me thoroughly disappointed. Initially, my interaction with Dr. Jay was positive. He made me feel comfortable, although I found it odd and uncomfortable that my teeth were photographed with a regular camera instead of using an X-ray machine. The real issue began when I was scheduled for a deep cleaning and filling, set to happen four weeks after my initial visit. I was informed by the reception that they needed pre-authorization from my insurance before proceeding. After not hearing back for two weeks, I called the office. They blamed the insurance company, claiming they hadn't heard anything back and promised to update me in two weeks. Another two weeks passed with no update. I gave the office an additional week and called again, only to be told the same story: they hadn't heard from the insurance company. Frustrated, I contacted my insurance directly. To my surprise, I found out that the authorization had been approved weeks ago, and the insurance company had even communicated the exact amount and details to the dental office. In short, I was lied to, and the staff displayed a shocking level of incompetence. Dr. Jay either needs to find a new practice or seriously reconsider his current staff. This experience has left me with no confidence in this office, and I will not be returning.

Dr. Jay was so personable, funny, and just an easy guy to talk to--I felt as if I had known him for years. Experiencia fantástica: I went to Dr Nack yesterday to fix my two for two front teeth which were ruining my otherwise pretty nice smile from just age related ridges , chips and a little discoloration. Veneers we’re not and immediate enough option for me so dr Nack suggested a different procedure! I have no idea what it was but I am telling you 2 hours later I walked out with not only two wonderful looking front teeth and I got my smile back ! Before I was hiding it and yesterday I couldn’t stop Smiling just to show them off to everyone Dr. Nack did such a meticulous job and was so committed to ensuring perfection it probably took him longer than expected. I am just so thrilled I can’t thank him enough.

Experiencia negativa: I think they are a money making machine and they led me to believe I needed a total restoration of my mouth. I have religiously taken care of my teeth and my last dentist retired and my teeth are in very good shape and I was looking for a new dentist. Definitely will not be with this practice.
Since this is the first (real) 1-star review that our office has ever received, I felt a response to your comments was in order.
First, I have never met you and I certainly do not know the details of your visit but I do know this: I consider our office to be extremely patient-focused and not the financially-focused, “money-making machine” that you claim we are. I am also sure that the person that referred you would never have done so if we were such an office.
We are a fee-for-service (FFS) office and as such, we do things very differently than many other dental offices. As a FFS office, we do not participate with any insurance companies. Therefore we are not under their control in our decision-making process. Rather, all treatment decisions are left to the patient with the doctor giving options and the patient making all final decisions. This is what we call “co-diagnosis.” Being FFS also affords us the ability to see fewer patients in a day, but to give those patients our undivided attention and the best care possible.
It starts from the first phone call to our office when we explain what is involved in the New Patient visit. That same information is given at the first appointment before we render any treatment and we are given permission to proceed by the patient. Since this type of dentistry is not for everyone, these first two steps are in place to give potential patients that are not interested in this type of care, the ability to decline treatment and opt-out. Those that do accept treatment then undergo our new patient examination which involves a thorough evaluation of the patient. This includes an evaluation of your health history, previous dental history, oral cancer exam, jaw exam, periodontal exam, cavity exam, intraoral photographs and x-rays when necessary. Dental hygiene “cleanings” are not performed at this visit and that is always clearly stated at the initial phone call.
Following our new patient exam, the doctor generally gives a quick over-view then invites the patient back for a free consultation appointment (at a later date) to lay out recommendations and more importantly, educate the patient about their dental health. The photos we take are used to make our recommendations very easy to understand and make this a very informative and educational experience. Let me say it again right here…finances NEVER come into our decision-making. At the consult appointment we give options for treatment when possible, then educate the patient about the benefits, risks and alternatives for each option given.
I am sorry that you came away from your appointment with the feelings you have about us, but I am certain that those you expressed in your review are both untrue and without merit. Unfortunately, I cannot go into the specifics of your treatment on social media as that would be a HIPAA violation.
