Derek Wong, DDS

Experiencia fantástica: I really loved the vibe of the office. It was laid-back and comfortable without sacrificing professionalism. It felt like a very welcoming, well-run place.Dr Wong, Ann and Alisa were so gracious even after I ran late. Even though we were short on time, this was probably the best teeth cleaning I’ve ever had.

Experiencia fantástica: After being with Dr. Lipton for approx 20 years, I met Dr. Wong and his staff today. The service today was A+. Dr. Wong and his staff members took time to get to know me and my history. I appreciate the one on one and professionalism.

Experiencia fantástica: Very nice experience for my first visit after my dentist retired.

Experiencia fantástica: I have been going to Dr. Lipton for many many years, I actually drive 34 miles from the East Bay because the service is so good. I was there this morning at 8:00am and as usual good an excellent cleaning, and a thorough exam for Dr. Lipton. This has been the case with out exception for all those years. I was able to meet Dr. Wong this morning also, and I’m sure he will carry on making his own mark on the practice. Having known Dr. Lipton and his high standards, I’m sure he picked Dr. Wong as his predecessor so that his legacy can continue on and become a standout practice, as it has always been. Best of luck Dr. Lipton, and Dr. Wong, I will see you in February for my scheduled next appointment. Russell Coe.

Experiencia fantástica: Good visit to the dentist, as usual. Friendly, professional staff. New streamlined billing process is efficient.

Experiencia fantástica: Very informative on dental care, asking if I had any concerns or issues with my teeth. He did check my teeth.Excellent people skills.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Wong is very charismatic and nice. Booked an appointment to fix up a chipped filling and was out in under 45 mins! The filling was on my front tooth and you could notice it before. Dr. Wongs work is invisible! Happy to call Dr. Wong’s office my new dentist.

Experiencia fantástica: Friendly and experienced, good and polite staff. Ann (hygienist) did a thorough teeth cleaning.

Experiencia fantástica: Was so nice to fit me in. Crown fell out in front and I was traveling the next day. They fixed and were so nice Definitely recommend

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Wong, his dental hygienists and his receptionist are the best in class. There team is one, lean, efficient Dental machine. They welcomed our family with open arms after we received a referral from a orthodontist. My 11 yr old experienced a deep cavity today. He visited another dentist who called that cavity a “watch” 6 months ago. I was beyond impressed with how Dr. Wong disclosed the news and said we have two courses of action and included me in the decision making process. It is difficult to find a trustworthy dentist who has great skills and shows he truly cares. I asked Dr. Wong “what would you do if this is your son”? Dr. Wong gave the same answer meaning he treats his patients like his own family. Dr. Wong’s hygienists, Anna & Monica are awesome and his receptionist, Alyssa is patient-friendly and customer service oriented. She understands family’s needs and works to accommodate schedules. We only wish we found Dr. Wong sooner! I know people are loyal to their dentist and now I’m a Dr. Wong LOYALIST!

Experiencia fantástica: Derek Wong, DDS fully lived up to expectations. My wife is already a patient there and I had been dithering over connecting with a new dentist since my prior one quit practicing three years ago. It’s never good to ignore your teeth for so long but between Dr Wong and his amazing hygienist, Ann, I know I am in excellent hands. Both are very personable yet professional and I feel fortunate to have them oversee my oral care.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a consultation with Dr Wong and enjoyed the open and honest conversation about my teeth. There was not sales pitch or any shaming me - it was painless and very helpful. I have a plan for a revisit and look forward to getting a routine going.

Experiencia fantástica: This is my first visit with Dr. Wong as I was on vacation when the right side of my face started aching. I wasn’t sure where the pain was coming from because I didn’t have any toothaches. I decided to see a dentist because I had some work done on my teeth 3 or 4 months ago. It didn’t take long for Dr. Wong to identify the cause of my pain and recommended immediate treatment. Dr. Wong would definitely be my on-going dentist if I were living in CA.

Experiencia fantástica: On time; no waiting in the office. Professional atmosphere and respectful treatment of patients. Friendly and competent care. Great music as well!

Experiencia fantástica: The doctors and the kind and polite staff are all wonderful. I highly recommend them.

Very gentle and offer tips for better cleaning at home. I drive from SJ all the way to SM and if I’m willing to do that, then you know he’s good! I highly recommend this office!

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Derek Wong and his team are heaven-sent and I'm glad I found them when I did. I have an extensive history with dental offices and procedures and knew from the moment I booked my first appointment that Dr. Wong's office was special. The communication leading up to my appointment (as well as during and after) was top tier and left a lasting impression on me. For the first time in my adult life, I did not tense up during a procedure. Dr. Wong is very patient, skilled and knowledgeable. He is also very personable which helped put me at ease! You can tell he loves what he does and genuinely cares for his patients. The office is very clean, equipped with the latest technology and has the best decorations. I look forward to my future visits and will be referring my family and friends to Dr. Derek Wong from this point forward!

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Wong and his assistant, Ann, and all of the staff are simply wonderful - above and beyond a typical practice. You will be in good hands if you come to Dr. Wong’s for your dental care - thank you!

Experiencia fantástica: I truly love Dr. Wong and his team! My husband and I happily travel all the way from Oakland to see him. Dr. Wong has always sincerely taken care of us and gives us his wholehearted attention and effort whenever we come to see him. He doesn't seem to overbook his patients, which makes for a much nicer atmosphere at his office and appointments. I also always appreciate the candid and considerate advice he offers in everything. If we have any questions, he has always been prompt to follow-up with us. Update: I also love his hygienist, Jared! He is always thorough but so considerate and gentle. Honestly, the entire team is so kind here. They feel like family! It's nice that there's a parking lot at this office, so you don't need to find parking on the street. As a bonus, his office is outfitted nice and cozily, which is a nice departure from the stark, alien waiting rooms of many other health professionals. I'm so glad we no longer have to go "shopping" for dentists now that we've found Dr. Wong. :) Thanks as always for taking care of us!

Experiencia fantástica: He is a very kind and calm doctor. I am very scared of going to dentists in general but each time I see Dt. Wong my heart rate goes back to normal He does not push you to do extra things either. Very friendly and kind doctor.

Experiencia fantástica: I arrived Dr Wong’s office 5 mins earlier. The hygienist, Jared, called me in 3 mins later. No extra waiting time. Jared explained what he was going to do on my visit. He is polite and friendly. He was gentle on my teeth cleaning. I am very pleased. Dr. Wong checked my teeth carefully and gave me an update that everything is good. When I was waiting to check out with the front desk lady who was taking care another patient, Dr Wong did not want me to wait, he took care my check out. Another thing I like about Dr Wong’s office is they asked me if I want to donate the goodie bag to the charity, the goodie includes tooth brush, toothpaste and etc.. I thought this is a very nice thing they do, for a good cause.

Experiencia fantástica: Great doctor with a team of very kind and excellent staff. Office very clean. Love the office decor and music as well, feels like an oasis and always puts one at ease.

A special thank-you to Alyssa, who went above and beyond to get me an earlier appointment when I was in pain—I’m incredibly grateful for that. I’m so thankful to have found Dr. Wong’s office and can’t recommend him highly enough. Thank you again, Dr. Wong!

Experiencia fantástica: I really like Dr. Wong and his staff. All of them are great and friendly and also I love how Dr. Wong loves 80s rock bands their interior is really nice!

Experiencia fantástica: Great service! Everyone there is very friendly!

Experiencia fantástica: Derek wongs dental office is always so friendly and professional

Experiencia fantástica: I first visited Dr. Wong for a second opinion. He is professional, friendly, and informative. Compared to my previous doctor, I noticed that he does not recommend unnecessary treatments, which I really appreciate. Later, my husband and 8-year-old son also became his patients. During my son’s treatment, Dr. Wong provided clear and reassuring explanations, making him feel comfortable. He even completed a filling without the need for laughing gas. I trust Dr. Wong completely, and since becoming his patient, I have never felt the need for a second opinion. He is now our family dentist, and we couldn’t be happier with his care!

Experiencia fantástica: Time-efficient and expert professional service with wise and knowledgeable advice empowering the patient for their own decision-making.

Experiencia fantástica: I was visiting from out of state and Dr Wong was able to fit me in to his schedule on short notice. He was professional, friendly, knowledgeable and so helpful. Experiencia fantástica: Dr Wong was kind enough to fit me in to do an unexpected procedure.

Experiencia fantástica: Dear Dr. Wong, Here I was with an aching tooth and nowhere to go in Saratoga where we currently live. All the dentists that we contacted (about 12) were out for the holidays until Jan. 6th! In desperation I called your office to see if there was any possibility you would be working that day. Thank heavens you were there! It was decided that my tooth had to come out and you referred me to an oral surgeon, Dr. Adam Fagin. You went beyond and above kindness and generosity in helping me find answers to the pain I was experiencing. I am so grateful that you took me in that day. Thank you so much for your excellent care! Christine Sullivan

Experiencia fantástica: Had a root canal. Was pretty quick and painless.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a great experience at Dr. Derek Wong's dental practice! From the moment I walked in, the staff was friendly, welcoming, and professional. Dr. Wong took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire visit. The office is modern and spotless, and you can tell they really care about their patients' well-being. The nostalgic 80’s music and retro poster decorations create a relaxing and welcoming vibe. If you're looking for a skilled and compassionate dentist, I highly recommend Dr. Wong!

Experiencia fantástica: Have been going here for 3 years + now. My wife and I moved to Oakland and still think it’s worth driving down the peninsula to work with Dr. Wong and his staff - if that tells you something :) Update: still the best. Make that 5+yrs to commute across the bay to go to a skilled, personable dentist I fully trust.

Experiencia fantástica: My first visit to Dr. Derek Wong today went very well. Dr. Wong is caring, friendly and easy to talk with. His exam of my teeth was gentle and yet thorough while he made certain to match up what he saw in the xrays with what he saw in the exam. Upon receiving the record and xrays of my previous root canal, Dr. Wong called with his analysis and advice. Alyssa at the front desk is courteous, friendly and welcoming. She is very helpful and accommodating when scheduling an appointment. Even though it’s a visit to the dentist, especially a first visit, it was pleasant and relaxing. I’m confident now that I am in good hands and that my choice of a new dentist was the right one. Thank you.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Wong was friendly. Monica was gentle and nice. I normally don’t like visiting the dentist. Monica was playing nice music which helped me relax. I really like the office decor. I’ve scheduled my next appointment. I think I’ve found my new dentist. -Mila Tapia, 10

Experiencia fantástica: Super friendly and sensitive , even he accommodate at your time and schedule. Highly recommend you.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Wong and every one of his staff members is friendly, professional, courteous and informative. I've experienced dentist practices where they try and push things on you that are not needed and charge you for things that you didn't get. Not here! Dr. Wong is very straight forward and has a patient centered approach: you co-create your treatment plan, and he guides you by outlining possible options. There is also parking underneath the building, which is convenient.

He was incredibly kind, answered all my questions, and made me feel very comfortable. The technician was super friendly and very gentle, and the front desk staff helped map out pricing with my insurance so that it was all painless. 10/10 experience, would definitely recommend!!

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Wong and his team are amazing! They’re so diligent and friendly. Dr. Wong provided a step by step explanation what the examination would entail. After the examination, he gave me his analysis and provided options on how to proceed. The front desk assistant Alyssa also went ahead and said she will reach out to my insurance company to see if and how much of the fee will be covered. I truly appreciate this team. I definitely continue seeing them for further dental work and I recommend them to anyone. Update: As of April 2024, I have been to Dr. Wong multiple times for root canals, bridge work, and teeth cleaning. Each appointment has been a splendid experience! It's like going to a spa for my mouth.

Experiencia fantástica: We switched to Dr. Wong when my previous dentist stopped taking my insurance and have been so happy with our care! I love the laid back vibe of his office and how friendly all the staff are. Dr. Wong is the perfect combination of professional and down to earth, and my visits are always thorough and easy. I have never had x-rays taken so quickly and seamlessly! And he’s never tried to sell me on unecessary procedures or Invisalign, which happened at almost every visit with my prior dentist. And I have pretty straight teeth! Can’t say enough good things about Dr. Wong’s office. Plus he’s a Bay Area native which I always appreciate :)

Experiencia fantástica: Dr Wong is the best! He is honest and very gentle. My family and I are glad we found him!

Experiencia fantástica: I have a little bit of dental anxiety. My first treatment was yesterday and Dr.Wong is the first person to fill a cavity for me. Now during my exam he was so kind. My cleaning was so great I felt like the experience was really pleasant. But coming in for treatment is a whole different thing. Luckily having a dentist like Dr.Wong, makes everything better. I told him I was nervous. He was politely playful about it. He walked me through each step. He made sure I was breathing lol and in the end the filling procedure was smooth. He also fixed my chipped front teeth. And they are BEAUTIFUL. Beyond what I thought they could look like. Dr.Wong is hands down my very best dental experience. If your looking for a dentist I HIGHLY recommend Dr. WONG. and I will definitely be sending my friends and family over to him!

Experiencia fantástica: The staff is friendly and very professional from the moment you walk in and throughout your appointment. Experiencia fantástica: Dr Wong and his staff are all efficient and friendly. My previous dentist retired. I am very fortunate to have found Dr Derek Wong

Experiencia fantástica: This review is from my wife.. Our long time Dentist for over 40 years retired and over the last seven years, my husband and I used several Dentists but we just could not find a doctor that we were 100% happy with. My husband recently had issue with a tooth pain. He called Dr. Derek Wong's office and they were courteous enough to see him the following day. Dr. Wong's mannerism and service was outstanding. When I had pain with my teeth, my husband, of course, called Dr. Wong's office and they made an effort to fit me in on the same day. Other offices which I had called could not schedule me for 2 weeks to 2 months. I was grateful for Dr. Wong's kindness to be able to fit me into his busy schedule. Besides being courteous, he was respectful to my concerns. He gave me options and he discussed what he would recommend. This visit gave me things to think about for the future. I usually don't write reviews but the doctor's diligent care along with his kindness deserved an excellent review.

Experiencia fantástica: One of the easiest dentist appointments I have had! Love the office decor as well

Experiencia fantástica: All the other reviews are completely accurate. Dr. Wong is an amazing dentist. He and his staff have wonderful bedside manner. They are all so very kind and patient. Dr. Wong is a great clinician and as long as I live in the San Mateo area, I will continue going to him.

Experiencia fantástica: Your reading this to see if Dentist , "will be right for You or Not" Well here's the Truth , I am not family , nor have I been paid a fee to write this review, In my 76 years , I have had a lot of Dentist some Good some Not, But Derek Wong,DDS is by far the "Best Dentist I have ever had , He has his patience in mind at all stages from safety and sanitation , to actual care and reasonable cost , He is honest and Best of all he has turned his Profession into a Laser Focus Practice that is Bar none "The Best Dentist You will find in the Bay Area ( No actual California) Look No Further this Man is Seriously the Best, You will be more than Happy with His Serves, I promise You.

Experiencia fantástica: Hands down the best dentist, provides correct diagnosis and effective solutions to maintain good teeth and gum health.

Experiencia fantástica: First time after 45 years with another dentist. Very satisfied and I've already scheduled my next appointment.

Experiencia fantástica: I was referred to Derek Wong DDS by my former dentist who retired. My former dentist said that Dr. Wong is a wonderful dentist and he is right. I drive over an hour to see him and always have a great experience in his office.I trust him with my dental needs. It’s worth my trip to San Mateo.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Wong is a tremendous dentist with excellent skills and a kind heart, and so is his team! The first time I came to see Dr. Wong was for a deep cleaning session and to fix a few cavities, and I was terrified due to childhood trauma. However, Dr.Wong was kind, patient, and had a “gentle touch.” Not only did I feel no pain, I almost fell asleep during the procedure. Even though I live 400 miles away now, they are still my go-to! That's how amazing they are! And no, I'm not just saying that because Dr. Wong gave me a cupcake! (just kidding) Come and see for yourself! “People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care” bests describes Dr.Wong and his team! Thank you all for everything, and see you in 6 months!!

Experiencia fantástica: I would give 10 stars review if I could. Would recommend this Dr. Wong’s office to everyone.

Experiencia fantástica: It was my first time coming to that dentist and I like the ambiance of the place. They have a free parking under the building which is very accessible to the place. The staff were very nice and friendly. The dentist was very nice, professional, and very gentle on the cleaning of my teeth. It was a great experience for me!

Experiencia fantástica: Excellent staff, excellent hygienist and excellent Dentist. Thank you!

Experiencia fantástica: Outstanding service! Dr. Derek Wong went above and beyond to put me at ease and explained everything he was going to do. His assistant Eric was very gentle in taking X-rays and made sure I was comfortable. If you need any dental work, I highly recommend their services.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Derek has been my go to dentist for the past couple years. Man does he have patience, great human being who respects your needs and answers all your questions and does not disappoint. I appreciate all his work and help

Experiencia fantástica: great care - personable, thorough, and transparent.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Wong and his team are very good at their job, they are also punctual which I really appreciate. Dr. Wong took the time to read my dental records from my former dentist and was aware of my issues. He is very qualified. His assistant, Lucy did a good job at cleaning my teeth.
