Experiencia fantástica: I had been here years ago for an impacted wisdom tooth with Dr. Eilers. When my dentist said I needed to consult with an oral surgeon I came back to AOIS. They were quick to get me scheduled for my consultation and surgery appointment. This time I met with Dr Hamlin at the Bristol office and couldn’t have been more pleased with my experience from the consultation to the day of the surgery. Highly recommend

Experiencia negativa: I saw Dr. Hamlin for some extractions. Overall, the procedure was fast and painless so far. (I'm 72 hrs post op) HOWEVER the rush they have to get you out and the sheer lack of communication and MIScommunication is ridiculous. I was referred by my regular dentist to Dr. Hamlin for 5 (maybe 6) extractions. When I met with Dr. Hamlin, he was nice and professional but rushed through. My first complaint is that my dentist had said maybe 6 extractions due to one of those being an impacted wisdom tooth and according to him, it's risky after age 30 due to the nerves, so he left it up to Dr. Hamlin. When Dr. Hamlin and I discussed it, we agreed that he would NOT extract that tooth since it was giving no issues etc. So I was only supposed to have 5 extractions. That was the plan and what was agreed upon. Fast forward to a couple of weeks later: The day of the surgery, I go back and an assistant mentions 6 teeth, I told her he was unsure about the other one and we decided it wouldn't be included. She just said "okay." Nothing else was discussed about it nor did the doctor speak with me before the surgery. It was literally like they called me back, checked my temp and blood pressure, put the oxygen on, IV in and I was out. So basically next thing I knew, I was being wheeled out to my boyfriend's truck and done in under an hour. (Appointment was at 9:30, was in the truck and on the road by 10:15ish). This is the first complaint - the post op was non existent, I was very very loopy still and could barely walk on my own. Nothing was really discussed with my boyfriend either, he was just given an outdated post op sheet and we were sent on our way. (I'll touch on the "outdated" part in a bit). Now 3 days later, I have discovered that Dr. Hamlin did in fact remove the 6th tooth we mutually discussed and agreed that he wouldn't touch. I only found out because the swelling went down enough to see the stitches. When I called their emergency number to ask about this, they stated it was on my chart and my billing. So then I looked at my bill and sure enough, there it was! Meaning that there was no communication whatsoever between Dr. Hamlin and the receptionist because I paid for a tooth extraction that wasn't supposed to happen ($510 extra btw because it was impacted) and he obviously did the extraction since I'd already paid for it despite us agreeing it wouldn't be necessary. Without clearing anything up or discussing it with me at all. I did call to follow on up on that today and just got a "sorry for the miscommunication," so I'll be contacting their practice manager Monday to see what/if anything can be done. Because 1: that was technically nonconsensual (they can say I signed the paper, but I'm a patient, not a medical billing specialist and also it shouldn't have been on the bill to begin with if the decision was to not extract it), and 2: because of the risks that came with extracting it due to my age etc, can potentially cause permanent nerve damage, which we will see if that happens in a couple of weeks. Hello Lawsuit, if it does! So overall, yes they're all very nice. Yes, it was painless and my recovery has been basically painless so far as well. BUT they do not communicate with their patients or with each other at all and releasing someone who's THAT doped up with zero post op care other than an outdated paper saying to "mouthwash vigorously the next day" when it's common knowledge to NOT to that the very next day with so many extractions is dangerous itself. Not to mention the biggest one: the nonconsensual extraction. I may update this review depending on how they address this when I call Monday morning. If it's addressed and properly handled, great. If not, I'll contact the State Dental Board and a lawyer as well.✨

Their office is a treasure to our community and a blessing to me!

Experiencia fantástica: I'll be honest, I was skeptical at first. I was also tremendously nervous, not only for the fact that I have seven teeth that need to be cut out, wisdom teeth included, but all of the surgeons are male, and I normally request for a female provider if possible for comfort purposes. I go to the consultation, they're very brief, and the doctor gives me a pill to take an hour before the surgery to help with anxiety. A month later comes the surgery. I was beyond nervous. As soon as I get called back and put in a room, they waste no time getting me ready for surgery. I appreciate that because otherwise I'd be laying there freaking out. Ryan, the surgeon, was impressively fast, thorough, and careful. He's not a very chatty person, which I really appreciate. My husband said the surgery probably lasted about 30/40 ish minutes. I don't remember anything! The lovely assistants were so sweet and really careful with me, especially the one who put the IV in. I am now a week post op, and I didn't have any bruising and barely any swelling. I took Arnica Montana three times daily and iced my jaw on and off throughout the day. They did great and I recommend them to others.

I like it that even though you there on serious business you can still cut up and have fun. He extracted 2 teeth for me today, its been 10 hours and 1 Tylenol and there us no discomfort.

Experiencia negativa: If I could change this to zero stars I would. My first review was glowing. After surgery day, I will never go to this office again. I was very impressed on our first visit. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Upon arriving for surgery, everyone was very short and unfriendly. They came to get my son, and we got up to go back with him, assuming we would get to be with him until surgery started. They told us "no, we just need him, we'll come get you after it's over". No one told us if he was being prepped or if we could see him before surgery. He was terrified and they were not helpful or friendly. When they came to call us back to recovery, they Didn’t care that we were his parents, they were more concerned about his “ride“. In recovery, I asked the nurses about how things went, and how he reacted to the iv, which I was told they didn’t know. None of the recovery nurses had been back in surgery, or had any information on the surgery. I have never felt less informed and more liked. They were just trying to get me in and out. It was quick, less than an hour for everything. I still wouldn’t go back ever.

The whole office just operates on a different plane than what I have come to expect, in health care in general. Like, what, no crazy waits??? One daughter had special needs. Dr. Hamlin, who handled all our surgeries in that time, was always SUPER.

Experiencia fantástica: This was by far the best dental appointment I've ever had. On Tuesday, I had my consult for removal of 2 wisdom teeth. On Wednesday, the surgery was completed. Almost no pain whatsoever. I would recommend this practice for any dental surgery needs. Dr. Dowling is fantastic!!

Experiencia negativa: Our daughter had a wisdom teeth extraction scheduled for months. The afternoon before her procedure, the office called to say they no longer take her insurance, and she would have to pay over $2000 the following morning. What a ridiculous way to run an office! If the insurance programs changed on Jan 1st, they could have called soon after (or ideally BEFORE the change) so she could have scheduled earlier or with another provider. HORRIBLE thing to dump on someone less than 24 hours before the procedure! She took off work and everything. Now she lost a day of pay, AND she has to find another provider and take off work AGAIN for the actual procedure! If she had canceled an appointment with less than 24hrs notice, she would have been charged...I feel the office should PAY for causing this cancellaton less than 24hrs out!

They took me back ( 45 min late mind you) like nothing had happened. At this point I thought it was kinda dead in the office but didn’t put 2 & 2 together till I glanced at my phone and saw the error. Everyone from start to finish including Dr are Very friendly and efficient. I’ve had several procedures here including a recent double. I was expecting to wake up in pain but it was done so well that I had just slight discomfort. I’m so thankful my dentist Dr Marrs recommended them as I do.

Experiencia fantástica: Went in July 3rd, done some paperwork, took a Zofran they gave me. Got me back in the room around maybe 10:40am. The surgeon Dr. Hamlin came in and patted me on the arm. The anesthesiologist asked some questions. Her assistants got me hooked up to cannula, pulse oximeter, blood pressure cuff and EKG/ECG machine. She then took out i think 5 or 6 prefilled syringes. She inserted the IV into my arm which wasn't too bad (I didn't flinch which is a plus). She then injected one syringe of medicine into IV. Within a second I was feeling weird and asked her if I should be feeling it already. She said yes and told me to have a good nap lol. She was very nice which helped some (my blood pressure was way high). I have severe generalized anxiety disorder and I have never been sedated so that scared me. Next thing I recall is being in a wheelchair in the recovery room with my husband. I did keep asking the nurse if the surgeon got my tooth out lol. They are all super nice and dont make you feel bad about anxiety (I've not seen a regular dentist in over 2 years due to this). The sedation medicines made me feel out of it for most the day, also a headache and serious nausea but the paper says its to be expected. They gave pain medication which has helped. If I ever need extractions done again I for sure would come back to see Hamlin.

Experiencia negativa: Not a very good place at all I wouldn’t take my dog to them after having made the mistake of taking my daughter I do not recommend this place if you want disrespect and staff that does not seem to care at all and are also rude then that might be for you but there’s no way I would recommend anybody going here at all I don’t ever complain usually but that’s why problems like these seem to only get worse because they are over looked it really blew my mind even on the Dr reaction was when my daughter almost part out and her bp was lower then normal but he literally looked at what her bp was and just said oh yeah perfect she’s great and good to go and walked out I swear we need people in the medical field that actually care for people not just ones just there for the pay you should have a heart because it’s literally people’s life’s that are in your hands and we depend on these people to try and help us stay alive and well but I can’t name one honestly that I can even say does actually care and Will help you
