Experiencia negativa: I would not recommend this office to anyone based on my experience. I was new to the area and initially went to this office for treatment of a dental infection due to trauma. They performed a tooth extraction, “cleaned” the area, and placed a bone graft in preparation for a future implant. This procedure alone cost me over $4,000. Shortly after, I was told by them that I had six cavities, needed three inlays, and three crowns. This seemed excessive, so I sought a second opinion from a trusted dentist (my current dentist). According to that dentist, I had one cavity that needed to be filled and he recommended a crown on a tooth that had cracked due to an existing filling. Needless to say, I did not return to this office and proceeded my dental treatment with my current dentist. Months later, I proceeded with the implant process with my current dentist. About one month after the implant was placed, an abscess developed in the exact same location as the original infection. My dentist had to surgically open the area and discovered that the initial infection was not cleaned out thoroughly. It was trapped deep behind the graft. As a result, the implant had to be removed, the graft material they placed had to be removed, area cleaned out the right way, and have the area re-grafted. I am now back at the beginning of the implant process and facing additional time, procedures, and expenses because of this office. To me, it seems they only care about making a quick buck out of you.

Experiencia fantástica: Very favorable experience at Estero Smiles. I had a crown come off and needed it repaired. My original dentist is no longer practicing. I went to Estero Smiles and was warmly greeted by Joselin who went above and beyond to find my insurance account and make me a same day appointment. She literally did all the tracking down and phone calls. A big thank you. Dr Oliver and her assistant Yiaina were extremely thorough in my examination! They discover my previous crown was a bad fit and was allowing a cavity to form under my crown. Needless to say they corrected the cavity and made me a new crown. All of this was pain FREE and I was constantly informed. Strongly recommend Estero Smiles and it’s entire staff

Dr Olivar did a good job explaining that I have early stage periodontal disease so the deep cleaning was a must. Hygienist Maria did a great job doing my deep cleaning and giving tips on how to take care of my teeth after the cleaning. Overall a good experience

Experiencia fantástica: My experience at Smiles Dentistry was exceptional. From my last minute call to get seen for major dental work two crown and periodontal scraping and getting my responsibilities for that cost, so I knew what my bill would be for getting it done. Both Josselin and Henry were excellent in giving service regarding my financial needs. And as for the staff my first hygienist was Barbara and she was as gent as possible and also kept me informed. That was on Thursday afternoon I had only called the morning of, the reason for the rush I was leaving town and wasn’t going to be able to wait for the needed work. Then returning the next morning to be tended to by Dr. Angela was pleasant as well as informative, she also mumms very reassuring and pleasant, she works in harmony with her assistant Maria. My treatment took almost the whole day and they also accommodated my appointment in between for a MRI so I left and then returned for the completion. With the Doctor staying longer just to finish my treatment.

The whole team is warm, professional and thorough. They take the time to explain everything, never make you feel rushed and the office itself is clean and comfortable.

Experiencia negativa: If I could give less than 1 star, I would. First, in the office the dentist and assistants were speaking Spanish in the room when they also speak English. Was I at a nail salon! No! Secondly, I was told I needed a root canal that would cost $2000, I have never paid that much for a root canal with my insurance. Third, I have been there now 3 times with pain from the pre root canal treatment while waiting over a month to even get said root canal. After going in multiple times, calling the dentist crying on multiple occasions, the dentist refused to offer me ANY relief from pain. Oh, I’m sorry, they said they would PULL the tooth I paid for. No! No pain relief, called in antibiotics (I’m a nurse and I know there’s no infection), NOTHING but oh well, guess you can be in pain and wait. This office is an absolute joke. I DO NOT recommend.

Experiencia negativa: This place is an absolute SCAM, they told my wife she had multiple cavities, had gum disease, need various serious procedures to fix said issues and put my wife into a panic. I then recommended a second opinion and our prior dentist who we had used for years (but lives to far now) looked at her x-rays, checked her teeth, looked into her gums and literally said NOTHING is wrong with your teeth. No cavities. No Gum disease. NOTHING. Money grabbers. Its a shame, this is why capitalism and healthcare simply do NOT work well together. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.

Experiencia negativa: Nice office and staff with modern facilities and equipment, but unfortunately with the intention of upselling you for the first hour of your appointment. The remaining 10 mins was the least thorough dental cleaning I have ever received, followed by the hardest flossing ever administered to my gums. Literally not a single dental pick was used in my dental cleaning! Very few offices except insurance, but you are likely better off just staying home and brushing your teeth, then going here and wasting 1.5 hours of your life!

Experiencia negativa: Very unprofessional appointment was half hour late understandable it was mid day get into the chair and my dentist says I need new X-rays after 7 months of one and she refused todo my cleaning without it. Then the front desk worker comes in and raises his tone saying wth I told you over the phone which in that case if that happened I would have never had made the appointment in the first place. Then he proceedes to call me cheap for not getting the X-rays will never be comming back here I don’t know if it was just a bad day but very unprofessional for a health clinic

Experiencia negativa: This is my story. I honestly loved this dentist since I started going to them. However my opinion has changed. I went in for a yearly scheduled cleaning. I was told that I need a deep cleaning, that would cost over $500 with insurance. I refused the deep cleaning. I was told that I need to leave because they were refusing to do the yearly cleaning. I went to a different dentist to get their opinion and they didn’t mention anything about a deep cleaning. How weird is that? I got a different procedure done there two years ago and I’m questioning myself if I really needed it. Always question your dentist…you might not need it. It could be all about money for them not patient care.

Experiencia negativa: I went to see Dr. Shima yesterday. They tried to charge me $2844 for a deep cleaning and an extraction. I walked out. I called my insurance company Delta and they said my co-payment for a deep cleaning is $65-85. She tried to get me to pay $933. Beware!! Dentists are scam artists these days! Turning her in to the insurance company, ADA, etc. Know your insurance benefits folks...don't fall for it!! She almost took $800 cash from me and then wanted me to pay $172/month for a year. Thank GOD my card wouldn't go through! Devine intervention.... Which means she wanted $1900 for the extraction and that's with insurance. I looked up the average cost of an extraction and this is what Care Credit says: "The national average cost of a simple tooth extraction is $177, but ranges between $137-$835 depending on multiple factors" COPIED AND PASTED EXACTLY FROM THEIR WEBSITE But $1900 PLEASE!!!

Experiencia negativa: Stay very far away from this place! Read the numerous other 1 star reviews. I had a similar experience. I had just had a baby and decided to get my routine teeth cleaning. I had a family member watch my baby thinking it would not be long. They took extensive x-rays and made me wait 3-4 hours total. They then did this scare tactic and said I needed a special teeth cleaning costing thousands for my “severe gum regression” or else I’d lose my teeth. Wouldn’t even do a teeth cleaning saying they couldn’t with the severe cleaning I’d need. I finally convinced them to do a simple one which was the worse I’ve ever had. Mind you, I’ve never even had a cavity and take impeccable care of my teeth. Luckily, my family member talked me out of signing anything despite my vulnerable state. I went to another dentist and they had no idea what they were talking about. They didn’t know what they would even clean and could cause more damage. I never write reviews but feel compelled to warn others.

Edited and added after getting second opinions: while they did a good cleaning, they recommended numerous things that other opinions said were completely unnecessary. Go somewhere else purely because you won’t be able to trust if what they tell you here is actually necessary and truthful or not.

I had Dr.Olivar and she explained everything with my cavity perfectly I can damn near teach it to a class. I was also helped by Ericka and Nadine during the process and they did an amazing job reassuring me. I was really nervous since I kinda try my hardest to avoid the dentist. Jocelin also helped me see that way and got me started in their dental plan. Very grateful for everyone here and this was definitely the best place for me to go since I literally have no insurance.

Experiencia negativa: This place feels like a complete scam driven by price gouging. They push unnecessary and expensive treatments, so I got a second opinion—and every single one of their recommendations was contradicted by another provider. It’s clear they’re more focused on profit than patient care. When I gave them another chance and went back for a cleaning today, the experience was even worse. The staff were cold and unwelcoming. I was asked to review and sign paperwork and agree to pricing while sitting in the dental chair wearing dark glasses! It was incredibly uncomfortable and unprofessional. I’ve never experienced this before. They mentioned that another recent complaint by another patient forced this policy change. Obviously, they scammed them. They presented multiple costly options and pressured me to decide immediately. When I asked a few questions, the staff member told me I could just leave if I didn’t agree—so I did. She even tried to gaslight me, saying no one else had ever asked or complained about their process. Avoid this place at all costs. It’s disappointing to see such an operation in our community. Hopefully, they’re held accountable for their practices.

Experiencia fantástica: I was a new patient, after not seeing a dentist for a couple of years because I don’t have dental insurance. I was nervous because I knew I had some issues, but I immediately felt comfortable when I walked in. Front desk was so sweet, and Dr Lavin was amazing. She explained everything to me and was very kind when she saw me getting a bit overwhelmed. I needed X-rays, a cleaning and a crown. My hygienist (I think her name was Maria, had purple streaks in her hair) was so funny and sweet. Dr Lavin and Maria had a hard time working on my back tooth because my mouth was so small, but they kept me comfortable. I am so glad I had both of them. I was there for 5 hours, but I understand as a new patient it takes time and everyone was great and tried to get the process done as quickly as they could. My only complaint would be the cost. It was over $2,000 for a cleaning and a crown…I was told I have a lot of other cavities as well. But I was able to get on their payment plan, and I’m choosing to trust them to guide me to get it all taken care of. I’m glad I found Estero Smiles!

Experiencia negativa: Would not recommend overall Front desk staff and help is very friendly and nice, however treatment is not great. I’ve never had any dental issues but the two times I have visited this office, they “highly recommend” expensive treatments. When declining due the price, they were able the lower the cost significantly with discounts. Seems upselling is happening for sure (I obviously appreciate the discount, but think it should be provided at lowest possible cost to begin with)… Planning to try a new dentist end of year and see if their diagnosis is the same or if I am being sold unnecessary treatments. Further, I have requested via email and phone a note from dentist to give to my provider and have not heard back. They left one message saying they would send over the note I requested but never sent. I have reached out several times and still nothing. It has been months. Very frustrating

Experiencia negativa: Do NOT go here. They will try to sell you extremely expensive services that are unnecessary, trying to sell you inlays for cavities that dont exist. Try to convince you that you need them, and that your insurance coverage is better than what they pay. Didn't even offer fillings for the remaining cavities and overall did extremely poor job giving inlays. Skipped over issues that needed fillings. They are upselling their services, always get a second opinion. Save yourself thousands. Scam of a practice.

Experiencia negativa: My daughter visited Estero Smiles for a routine cleaning and ended up being there for nearly three hours — mostly for an exam, x-rays, and an extensive sales pitch. She was told she needed a deep cleaning that would require two numbing shots on another visit, as well as three cavities that supposedly required expensive ceramic inlays over three more visits. They mentioned they could do all the work that same day if she agreed to pay the full amount immediately. As a parent, this was very concerning — my daughter is only 22, new to dental insurance, and just trying to take care of her health responsibly. I shared the treatment plan with our trusted family dentist out of state, who strongly advised us to get a second opinion immediately. He told us to avoid inlays! She then saw another local dentist in Estero, who told her she didn’t need a deep cleaning — just better flossing habits — and that she had no cavities, only one area to watch. I’m writing this so others are aware. In our experience, Estero Smiles used aggressive, manipulative tactics to push unnecessary procedures on a young adult. Please seek a second opinion before agreeing to anything here.

Experiencia negativa: I came here the first time and had an amazing experience, which is why I decided to come back. Unfortunately, this visit was completely different. The customer service was terrible. I arrived at 12:30 for a 1:00 PM appointment, and it’s now 2:35 and I’m still waiting to be seen. No one has shown me the prices, and to make matters worse, they changed my doctor without informing me — the new doctor had no clue about my case. On top of that, they tried upselling me on something I didn’t even need. It was a simple tooth extraction, yet they tried to quote me $14,000 with insurance and referred me to a general surgeon for one tooth. Absolutely ridiculous. As a business owner, I value professionalism and efficiency, and this visit showed neither. Henry’s response — claiming it wasn’t their fault — was unhelpful and dismissive. Henry, do better at your job. Stop making excuses about being late or behind schedule and take accountability. Maybe then you wouldn’t be so far behind. This place has gone downhill fast — a complete joke compared to my first visit.

Experiencia negativa: My daughter was referred to this clinic by a local college. She’s never had a cavity in her entire life and simply went for a cleaning. She called me after being there for 4 hours in tears telling me they were telling her she had six cavities and needed six “inlays” to the tune of nearly 3k and that’s with insurance! They do not even do fillings! Needless to say we are bringing her home for a second opinion! Watch out for the chain dental offices! They will maximize billing any way they can! They were nice to her but……

Experiencia negativa: Initially, it seemed like this was a great spot to establish as a new patient. Exam went well, then it all went down hill from there. I was offered a same day appointment for a service 4 hours after my initial appointment. Made it all the way back and waited for 30 minutes before I was told it would be another 4 hours. I was then offered to reschedule for the following day, and I did. After being early the next day, I have now waited another 40 minutes only to be told it would be another hour to wait, as they had taken other patients/walk-ins ahead of me that they didn’t plan for. The worst part is that payment was “required” before I even went back for the service and now I’m stuck waiting for a refund. Beware and do yourself a favor and stay clear of this place. Communication is horrible and it seems that everyone is “new” and has no clue how to schedule.

Experiencia fantástica: Had a great experience here. Was referred by a friend who also was satisfied. As someone who gets very uncomfortable at the dentist, JJ was very calm and pleasant to be around and made me feel at ease almost immediately. JJ (and the rest of the staff as well) was also very professional and efficient. Will definitely come back due to the environment, efficiency, and it being very clear they take oral health seriously and want the best of their patients.

Dr.Lavin, Erica, and JJ are amazing and took great care of me! Josselin and Henry explained everything to me very clearly and made sure I was up to date with everything. 10/10 would recommend.

Experiencia negativa: I had a really good experience the first time visiting. Unfortunately the second time was not the case. I had my gums examined and they recommended me a very expensive cleaning even after my insurance, then refused to do a regular teeth cleaning. I spent almost 2 hours there and nothing even happened. Very disappointed they could not even give me a regular teeth cleaning, and how long the services took. 2 hours at the dentist on my day off and nothing done :(
