Experiencia fantástica: Amazing and lifted the stress of dental visit. It's been years since I have seen a dentist this visit flipped everything. The advances since last visited a dentist is amazing. The staff was welcoming and kind. The tech and dentist where gentle while listening to my concerns. They worked with me to come up with plan that could afford to handle the issues with my teeth. For first time in years looking forward to my dentist appointments.

From the front staff, assistants, hygienists and doctors..they really made me feel at ease and my dental anxiety is so bad. I never once felt rushed, but my time was respected. My dental plan was clear and I felt assured they would get the work I needed done professionally and right.

She did my X-rays and explained everything she was doing along the way, which I really appreciated. Avery truly set the tone for the entire visit, and I’m so grateful she did. The hygienist, Kaitlyn, walked me through every step before we started, explained what she was doing, and constantly checked to make sure I was comfortable. I had a lot of questions and every single one was answered patiently and clearly. Nothing felt rushed. Nothing felt brushed off. Dr. Cowen took time to explain my dental health in a way that actually made sense. He showed me what was going on, talked through options, and made sure I understood everything before moving forward. By the time I left, I couldn’t believe I had been so nervous. I actually felt relieved and proud of myself for going. More importantly, I felt confident that I had found my new dental home. If you’ve been putting off an appointment like I was, let this be your sign. Southern Oaks Family Dental Care truly made what could have been a stressful visit into such a positive experience. I’m so grateful for their kindness, professionalism, and care.

Experiencia negativa: To the ownership of Southern Oaks Dental, Is the billing department systematically fraudulent or completely incompetent? Not once but twice, I had to get them straight about my wife’s insurance coverage after they tried to overcharge for services, including charging me the copayment amount that insurance is supposed to pay. Once I got them straight, they didn’t admit fault or offer a sincere apology, they simply dismissed it as a “billing error.” Offices like this is why medical billing has the stigma it does. There won’t be a next time for men and my family with these frauds but I implore every patient to check their bill vs what their insurance company will cover- it may save you hundreds, or even thousands of dollars, as it did me!

Experiencia negativa: I was initially excited about the team here. They were very nice and accommodating. The first procedure went well. My crown not so much. On top of it taking 3 hours, with over an hour just to get the temp on properly I was burned by a laser. This left a hole in-between my lips on the side of my mouth which made it very difficult to brush properly for weeks. They didn't seem to care that they injured me and didn't once check up and see how I was healing.

Experiencia negativa: Booked based on availability of a pediatric dentist and their “ emergency services” for my 7 year old daughter who was having extreme tooth pain. They wouldn’t extract the tooth or prescribe antibiotics to help with inflammation. They then stated they don’t provide pediatric extraction services because they don’t actually have a pediatric dentist on staff and she’s too young.. blah zay blah zay…We paid $100 self pay just for X-rays. Daughter still has a cavity and pain…Also the equipment to examine teeth were laid out on an unsterile surface and were rusty. My husband questioned the equipment and they went on to get newer looking tools to examine my child. A fancy building with mediocre care. Wouldn’t recommend children be seen there. Would not recommend. They are just about getting your money.

Really comforting! Tara, the dental assistant has such a beautiful joyous demeanor. She is so caring and upbeat. Dr. Eades is very patient and thorough as well as pleasant and understanding. Experiencia fantástica: Although the dentist office is not to be considered a place of enjoyment, I always have a great appointment at Southern Oaks. They're always very punctual, no long wait time. The staff is always so friendly and helpful. Always the most pleasant dental experience ever.

I have been with him since he started practicing and I will never change even though Dr. Cowan doesn't practice out of this office any longer, He has another office he works out of, His staff are trained and they are the friendliest people that you ever want to meet. He is not aggressive with needless treatments. I have sjogren's which is an autoimmune issue that causes your mouth to be dry and your eyes to be dry and can cause decay and I take extremely good care of my teeth and along with his great staff, I never have cavities or need be bridges, implants and bone grafts. I probably put $80,000 worth of work into my mouth over the years and ever since I started going to him every 6 months I have no problems. I couldn't ask for a more pleasant experience. The days of dreading going to the dentist for both physical, mental and financial reasons is gone and I wish that I could get all of my friends to give him a try because I don't think there's a better dentist office in Baton Rouge

Experiencia negativa: Mary, a hygienist, provided deplorable service during my routine visit. When I informed her the drill was hurting me, she responded with "In just doing my job". When I asked for another hygienist to complete my cleaning, she advised that there wasn't another one. I then advised that I would reschedule. She adjusted my chair (that was in a recline position) and stormed off. She not once apologized or offered to adjust her technique. I felt as though saying something bothered her and she didn't want the hassle. It was really a "take it or leave it" attitude. So I decided to leave it and the entire practice. I am currently in search of another dental office. Dr. Eades is wonderful but to have someone on his team with such poor bed side manners is a blunder for the entire practice. The way she spoke to me and stormed off was indicative of not being concerned with repercussions. This leads me to wonder how long has her behavior been like this. It's not worth the hassle folks. Go where you are wanted and treated with kindness.

After checking in at the front desk 15 minutes early for my 9:00 am appointment, I was led back to my treatment room, when the assistant asked me to sit in the dental chair and immediately took my BP. Common procedure is to let the patient sit for a moment, assure their feet are flat on the floor and not elevated. This did not occur, and I was told by the assistant that my BP was high. The dentist fitted me for my temporary crown, and prepped me for the scans - all done with no issues and in a timely manner. On the first attempt to secure the temporary crown, the assistant did not wait long enough for the glue to set, and the crown popped off. The second attempt she let the glue set longer, but during the process of cleaning off the excess, popped the crown off again. The third attempt the dentist came in, seated the crown, glued it, held it in place until it set. The assistant, attempting to clean the bottom of the crown from any excess glue - popped it off again! This all happened while I was leaned back in the chair for 2 hours and 15 minutes! I asked to get up and use the restroom. When I came back - the dentist had take over completely. She fitted the crown AGAIN, glued it and held it in place AGAIN, and then cleaned the area without any issues. Total time in chair - 2 hours and 45 minutes! I am skeptical of going back for the actual crown, and will make sure the dental assistant is different than the one who attempted to treat me yesterday.
