Experiencia fantástica: I can’t begin to explain how much I love this office! They are all so friendly, the office is very clean, they have fun toys for the kiddos to play with. They are so gentle yet so very thorough. My kids (2 and 5) look forward to their dental appointments which takes a lot of pressure off of me. I would recommend everyone give them a try!!

Experiencia fantástica: While I’ve never experienced the adult dentistry side, my daughter has been going to the pediatric side since she was 4 (she’s 14 now). Shes always been treated with the best care. I went back with her on her first visit when she was 4, but every 6 months after that I let her go back by herself. She has always been safe and treated with kindness. These parents complaining about not being able to hover over their children when a trained doctor is trying to do their job are going to have adult children with severe anxiety one day. If your child needed surgery elsewhere, do you think the surgeon would allow you in the surgery room? No, they would not. My daughter has been going here for 10 years, and she’s had nothing but excellent experiences, and by me allowing her to go back by herself all these years it’s helped her become confident in herself so that she can speak up for herself when need be. Now they have an orthodontist on staff, and my daughter just got her braces from him. He’s absolutely wonderful! I highly recommend the pediatric dentistry and orthodontics team.

Experiencia fantástica: I have been using Gilliam since my grandson was a toddler, at first with Dr. Gilliam. Pedantic Dentist and then he moved over to the Adult Dentist Dr. Gilliam. He is 18 years old now. Through the years, I start going there for myself, Then I started taking my Mother who was in her 80's working with her financial and dental needs with the financial always taking last place. Her health needs were more important. Dr. Gilliam and his staff dropped everything and addressed an emergency with her. Her hand was shut in the van door, they immediately attended the bleeding issue, applied compression to stop the bleeding and wrapped her hand for me. They all had my concerns and my mothers concerns addressed before we knew what was happening. I will never forget that. Recently i broke a tooth and the office set up an emergency appointment. Dr. Gilliam was on a much needed vacation out of country. He came back early and checked the calendar, noted my emergency and personally called me to immediately come in and he would address the issue. He did all the necessary repairs of grinding the sharp edges off and didn't even tell his assistants he was there. He handled all the work necessary without his usual assistance from his dental techs. Amazing They have always worked with my friends and family and addressed their immediate needs, rather there was an appointment slot to do the work or not. They bring you in always. I have recommended very many of my friends and family, The accolades by all of them are always expressed at the highest level and I would highly recommend the office of Doctor Gilliam for all of your family care. Experiencia negativa: Kinda disappointed with this office to say the least!! After going to another dental office, come to find out that my kid has a lip and tongue tie. My 3.5 year old was seen at your office about 7 months ago. Why wasnt this caught? And you cant blame anyone else besides Mrs. Dr. Gillian. She the one who went into his mouth

Experiencia positiva: The staff is nice. But I would really think about getting major procedures done here. I’ve been with Gilliam for many years and cleanings have left my gums sore for a little which I thought was normal. But about 3-4 years ago I got a root canal done there and I was in pain for a couple of months, I let them know and I was told it was normal. Fast forward 3-4 years the “normal” pain led me to another dentistry and I mentioned that pain to them (which the pain comes with a swollen gum and fluids coming out of that tooth), my new dentist sent me to Crystal Coast Endodontics, I come to find out that Gilliam did not do my root canal correctly and that I have a large infection which is pushing up to my sinuses causing me to easily get sick. And now I have to spend more money on the same procedure.

Experiencia negativa: We were referred to this office for pediatric dental work for my 6-year-old son. The initial exam appointment started off fine, but things became uncomfortable when staff repeatedly tried to separate my child from me. During X-rays, the assistants strongly encouraged me to stay in the waiting area while my son went back alone. When I chose to accompany him, I was told they “encourage independence here,” which felt unnecessary considering he is only six years old and was at a new dental office. Later, while discussing the treatment plan with the dentist, the staff again suggested that my son stay outside the room without me. At the end of the appointment, I was informed they would prefer for him to go back alone for treatment. Although I found this unusual, I assumed I would still be allowed to accompany him since there was no policy, he’s six and it was a PEDIATRIC DENTIST so for children. At the next appointment, my husband brought our son in and simply requested to stay with him during the procedure. The assistant responded that “it would not work” and you could no go with him and she would have to check with the dentist. A few moments later, they told my husband that because we would not allow our son to go back alone, they would not perform the treatment and we would need to seek care elsewhere. As parents, we understand encouraging independence, but refusing treatment to a 6-year-old because a parent wants to be present is disappointing and concerning. The repeated attempts to separate us from our child made us uncomfortable, and ultimately we did not feel supported or welcomed as parents advocating for our son’s comfort and care.

Experiencia negativa: Went through the VA for some service connected dental problems with a preauthorization that listed everything just for this office to give me a cleaning and send me on my way. Had to call myself to follow up just for them to try to treat one thing.

Experiencia negativa: Absolutely horrible service I had an appointment for 1:30 to get a tooth removed I showed up at 1:00 we left the doctor's office at 2:40 due to no service we sat there for 2 hours for no reason and they did not keep their commitment to the appointment no dentist office should have someone waiting in the waiting room past their appointment time over an hour

Experiencia negativa: This dentist office deserves 0 stars. Do not come here on the adult side of the office. I’ve had a couple of bad experiences in the office and others that I know have had bad experiences at this dentist office as well. I would not recommend to come here.

Experiencia fantástica: I have no complaints so far my grandson don’t mind going. the wait for me has never been long office seem pretty clean staff are friendly and Doctor Gilliam always friendly she has some spunk don’t sugar coat but I love her honestly and direct approach when it comes to importance of maintaining healthy gums and teeth for the future .I appreciate her answering all my questions with patience because I’m that person that questions everything LOL ❤️

Experiencia fantástica: Brought my daughter here 2 years ago when she was having a tooth infection. The staff got us an appointment quickly and the doctor was very informative about the best treatment. She also suggested a retainer in order to avoid having braces for my child in the future. So far her teeth have straightened out beautifully. My daughter was hard to work on as she was fearful of dentist due to her having surgery at an early age, however, the doctor was able to get my daughter to feel comfortable with her to get her teeth cleaned and worked on. I’m really happy to have found a place that my daughter feels comfortable going to.

I have went on scheduled appts and just too drop end and they made me priority Everytime, I came into the Office. My Grandkids and my wife we all are patients. They are top notch and they're on your side just communicate you our concerns they will fix. Love those guys at Gilliam and the Staff they make you feel at home.

Experiencia positiva: Oh come I'll help. I'm in massive pain. Said pull out the bridge. No let's save it. Tears down one side of my check. Doctor... call if bad. It's absolutely horrible oh got nothing. Oh don't believe in pain meds either. December 8th. Still in horrible pain oh we're on vacation. 4,000 more to fix again 15,000 for bridge and I'll bet he won't be able to to do work and get charged and go to oral surgeon anyways. Dentist don't give warranty on work and thousands of dollars. How is this right. I should've come sooner. I got a job you work 9 to 3. I work 24 7 as a truck driver. Weeks later still in horrible pain. Happy holidays see you in two fing weeks. Beyond pissed off

Experiencia negativa: ***WARNING***Terrible place!! My granddaughter is 4! They would not let my daughter be there while they put my granddaughter under gas to fill a cavity?? Then my daughter was upset and this dentist- Dr Connie took my granddaughter out of anesthesia to walk my granddaughter to her mom and ask want me to stop “WANT ME TO STOP”! She is a rude dentist and so dismissive even during both the grandchildren’s cleaning the day before. Are you crazy? Stopping in the middle of a procedure? Who would go to this place. Is this normal procedure to stop in the middle of a procedure of a 4 yr old and think your gonna come out and be rude to the mother ? Was this even necessary with a tiny cavity? They normally cap the tooth! I’m angry! PLEASE BELIEVE THE REVIEWS!

I made an appoint for my two month old that I had to cancel (she was being seen for a lip tie) which I had her seen multiple other places so decided to not put her through it again. Again, two months old. They sent me the confirmation for the appointment at 5:59pm the day before, her being two months old and I barley getting sleep totally forgot about it until they sent the confirmation the night before. I replied NO to cancel the appointment like it said. & now she’s eight months old and they won’t see her bc the appointment wasn’t canceled within 48 hours of the appointment. Maybe yall should send the confirmation 48 hours before at least, instead of the night before…

Experiencia fantástica: My son just started going there. They got us his surgery date and worked him in within 2 weeks. They were very detailed with explaining how everything would go. Stayed informative during my son’s whole procedure. They went above and beyond to ensure his care was professional but very family oriented. I’d recommend 1000 times over again. They went above and beyond for my boy & I couldn’t be more thankful.

Searched up different options but ultimately decided on Gilliam Dentistry based on reviews and referrals from colleagues. We’ve been going for almost 2 years and our experience is always a great one. Everyone is so personable! Leah has been cleaning my teeth and always does an amazing job. She checks in on my comfort level and does her best to make it painless, which I appreciate. The doctors are awesome too and will definitely keep you laughing. If you’re in need of a new dentistry I would highly recommend this office.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Bruce-Gilliam was my dentist for entire childhood so when I returned to Jacksonville with my kids it was a no brainer to bring them in to her. She is a wizard with kids and always prioritizes keeping his experience positive. She gets more giggles out of him with metal tools in her hands than I can with a plastic tooth brush . I always look forward to seeing her and so does my son. I’m so grateful her and her husband are still here serving the Jacksonville community!

Experiencia fantástica: Update: 2/17/25-My beautiful 6-year-old daughter is honestly a nightmare patient. Like I would refuse to see her if I was the dentist. Thankfully she had no cavities as we do take her dental hygiene seriously at home. Despite the fact that I had to wrangle her like an alligator and lie on the dental chair with her after she had caused an abundant scene, the staff remained patient and professional. They successfully completed the cleaning and examination with smiles on the faces. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have been a patient here since I was in high school (literally 20 years). My husband is military, so I have moved away a few times, but I always come back because the service is fantastic. Now I’ve brought 2 more patients with my own children. Today, my 5-year-old had 3 baby teeth extracted because she had a double row at the bottom. We had very little wait time and they did it so fast that I couldn’t believe it! Baby girl walked out smiling!! Dr. Bruce is amazing with kids; both of mine really like her. She always asks, “What questions do you have?” instead of, “Do you have any questions?” which forces you as the parent to just take a moment and think. I greatly appreciate that. She has a well-illustrated book to show us what she is talking about regarding the children’s teeth. Her husband, Dr. Gilliam is also fantastic. He is so warm and he always remembers me even after I’ve been gone for a couple years. He is thorough and never makes you feel rushed. One year I had a small cut in the back of my throat, so I came to see him. He told me that it was really more of a doctor situation than dental , but he still advised me and was so patient through all my concerns. I have nothing but good things to say about all the hygienists and staff, and the actual office. If you’re in need of either an adult or a pediatric dentist, I highly recommend Gilliam Dentistry!

As a parent, I appreciate the in-office post visit consultation that includes current status, next steps, recommendations, and documented cost transparency for upcoming treatment! Experiencia fantástica: Man where do I start… It’s been well over 7 years( can’t remember the exact age) going to this dentist. I searched between Gilliam’s dentistry and some others in the area. After getting an appointment my daughter and my self were nervous since it was her first. She didn’t cry or scream or even misbehave. After the Dr C Bruce is finished she meets with you and discuss treatment plan if anything we’d to be fixed. She’s always smiling, caring, respectful, and so much more! My daughter was afraid at first but Dr Connie wouldn’t let that stand and does everything possible to ensure kids walk out some what happy because it is the dentist! THANKS GILLIAM’S DENTISTRY YEARS OF HARD WORK AND DEDICATION TO THIS COMMUNITY

Experiencia fantástica: I went to Giliam dentistry when I was younger and have always had wonderful care every time that I have went, so when I had children it was the first and only dentistry that came to mind. The staff and dentist is always so kind, understanding, and extremely patient with my children. They also take such great care of their teeth, and their teeth health very serious, which I love. We have been going here for almost over a decade and my children love it here, they always love to play in the play area with the other kids, and love how the staff treats them and reassures them, and of course they love getting their little toys, toothbrushes and toothpaste at the end of their visit.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a wonderful experience at Gilliam Dentistry yesterday. The staff made me feel right at home as soon as I walked thru the door. The safety protocol was very reassuring. The team was very professional, friendly, and polite. Dr. Gilliam always does great work! My teeth look beautiful, I couldn't be happier with the results.

Experiencia negativa: If I could give this place a 0 I would thry don't allow you in the back with any procedure and these are babies no older then 4-18 I understand uf they were say 13 - 18 but the babies ¿?!?!?!! now me being a woman of color will always support other people of color but this is not a good look and I will not be supporting them again they put fillings in my child's teeth Ididnt know thought I was sending him for a cleaning and an extraction but he was screaming an crying after but I could not see the problem turns out the fillings were tooth color so I could not see it was only till I took my kid to my dentist for tooth pain I found out mind you this was almost 6 months ago. Idk if she is doing shady work on the side to extra pay but. DO NOT BRING YOUR KID HERE she messed up my sons teeth and chipped one of his back teeth tying to be underhanded shady and filled it in to cover it up I am glad we changed my sons mouth is alot better if you want your kid to be safe and wanna be able to support your child and comfort them this is not the place she was heartless.

Experiencia negativa: My daughter and son where new patients let’s just say the dr I’d very rude and seems to be all about money than anything. She doesn’t seem very child friendly/doesn’t know how to make your child feel comfortable either I will not be going back ! She didn’t even explain nothing until I asked her to come in and explain why I’m seeing paper with a bunch of charges. Worst customer service ever!

Experiencia negativa: I called this office trying to get my son seen. He is 1.5 years old and chipped his front teeth (considered a dental emergency) the receptionist said we can see you October 4th for a new patient appt. Was not happy with this office.

Experiencia negativa: Highly encourage you to look at this facility on the NC dental board and the disciplinary actions taken against the pediatric dentist there.. They also don't allow you to go back with your kids...yah its because she wants to do what she wants with the kids and have no reprimand..until they are caught! She pushes her way or no way and says "i don't know" to questions about treatment plans you ask about if it isn't what SHE wants.

Experiencia negativa: My daughter has a cavity. We made an appointment over a month ago over the phone. We're confirmed. Go in today: "Sorry she doesn't have an appointment in today". Upon further pressing, they have my daughters information in their system though (almost as if we have an appointment, so weird). My wife finds the woman that she made the appointment with and she admits she failed to actually put it in their system. The only good part of this review will be that they took fault and agreed to see my daughter. The staff tried to tell my wife she could not go to the back with my daughter because all children 4 years or older must be alone. First of all, my daughter is 3 which they should know because they literally have her information. Second of all: What? In what sane world would I force my small child to go to a dental appointment without me there to comfort her? Going to the dentist is scary enough for small children already. The clinic, despite having my child's information, did not have my child's x-rays. Despite this being a TRANSFER. Wouldn't a transfer referral include passing along the critical information, AKA the xrays we already had done at the other clinic? So of course, how convenient, we need to get new x-rays. Which they charge money for of course. They are now rewarding themselves for not doing their job, amazing. Lastly, let's talk about professionalism and bedside manner. When the dentist came in she intentionally scared the crap out of my daughter by spraying her with the airgun. Why does this place want to scare children? Another child in an adjacent room was left alone, shivering in fear. The x-ray machine was not working at first. Who would want an x-ray machine that works the first time anyway? After troubleshooting, they get it to turn on...except after shoving the device in my child's mouth, it doesn't work.. and after the second time. And then the third. After that my wife quit and took my child home. Parents: Do not take your children here!

Experiencia fantástica: Me and my 2 kids have been coming here for 15+ years and we have had excellent service. I love how there is a kids and adults side. Mrs.Sheila is by far my favorite on the adults side. From all the years of coming here we have had no issues and love all the staff.

Experiencia negativa: The facility is pretty and others seem to have a positive experience here but unfortunately - 1. We arrived before our appointment and wasn’t seen until over half an hour or so after the appointment, with no updates as to why. 2. If your child is 4 years or older you are not allowed to go in the room with them. My child is independent and sociable, I am not a helicopter mom, but teachers, tutors, pastors, family members, coaches, etc. can all touch a child inappropriately. Why would dentists or staff be immune to this? I’m not accusing this office of doing so but I do believe it’s a bit daft to not give parents the option, even if just for liability reasons. And a lot can be done to the child’s mouth (dentally speaking) that a child can not advocate for or against. Especially since they have a sign in their lobby that says something along the lines of “90% of children (4 years and older) will calmly accept treatment without parents in the room.” Aside from the fact that this seems like a made up statistic (no studies were cited), what about the other 10%?? My mother is a nurse and she left Peds because she found the parents to be unbearable. I understand that sometimes parents make things difficult, but the answer to that should not be to cut off the option of access to young children and their parents - even for a short while. We will be going elsewhere.

Experiencia fantástica: Been going to Gilliam Dentistry since I was 1 years old and I chipped my tooth. They have done all my cavities, thumb sucking appliance, and spacers. Everyone is really nice and always tell me different ways to protect and take care of my teeth.

Experiencia fantástica: We have been using Gilliam Dentistry for 11 years since my oldest was one years old and we needed to make an emergency visit. They have always been so accommodating, friendly, patient, informative, and thorough. They educate and reinforce their teaching with me and my children so that we all take care of their teeth.My youngest is 2 and had his first visit and they were extremely patient and diligent. He had the absolute best first visit. He played while he was waiting and he has not been afraid to return. I highly recommend Dr.Bruce for all pediatric needs and Dr. Gilliam for any adult dentistry. They also work closely with the underserved population

Experiencia negativa: I strongly do not recommend taking your children here. EVER. As new patients, I arrived with my children 15 minutes early to our appointment time at 2:30pm. We were not seen until about 3:40pm despite having turned in the new patient forms well before being called back. They proceeded to give me tour of the facility. The atmosphere felt chaotic. It felt like everything was rushed and a “get in, get out” attitude. The facility looks pretty child friendly. They have a little play area in the waiting room and then toys and games in the back where they do the cleanings and procedures. So again, it seems child friendly but don’t let that fool you. I was told that once a child is 4 years old, parents are no longer allowed to come to the back with their child; parents remain in the waiting room. That is a huge red flag as children are not always able to advocate or speak up for themselves when they are uncomfortable and that allows for abuse of authority by medical personnel. When my two kids were getting their teeth cleaned, the dentist (a women) yanked my sons up by their arm pits because they were sitting too low on the chair. Not once did she try to make my children feel comfortable or explain anything she was about to do. Zero compassion or care for the comfortability of my 2 year old and 5 year old. Not to mention she rushed through their cleanings. After their cleanings, I was taking to their “consultation room” while my children stayed in the procedure room to play with the toys. Completely out of my sight might I add. I step out to check on them and notice one of my sons is missing. Without my knowledge, he was taken into a separate room to get X-rays done. Another huge red flag as no one informed me of what he was doing or where he was going. Needless to say… we WILL NOT ever be coming back there and I will NEVER recommend children come here.

Growing up, I did not have the best experience with dental care so I was nervous for my children to have their initial dental appointments. Let me just start off by saying that my husband and I will now be switching our dental care to this place now after bringing our girls. I initially brought our foster daughter here last week and I was blown away with the whole experience! Scheduling the appointment, they got us in SAME week. The waiting room has a play room that kept her entertained while we waited. Once we went back, the pediatric side of the practice had more fun toys right next to the exam chairs that helped make the experience fun! All the staff members were extremely personable, patient, friendly, and knowledgeable! They knew exactly how to make my foster daughter feel comfortable as this was her first ever dental exam and cleaning. They had her laughing and having fun! The dentist, Dr. Bruce-Gilliam, is a God-sent. My experience with dentists is that they come over after all cleaning has been done, do a quick exam, barely say a word, then leave as fast as they came. That is far from our experience with her. She played, sang, and went out of her way to make our girl feel comfortable and she knew exactly what to say and do. She literally was made for her job and you can absolutely tell that she loves what she does. I appreciate her talking with me like it was mom to mom, and made sure I understood and gave me time to ask questions. She is incredible with children! At that appointment, they helped me get another appointment scheduled for my youngest child. Again, they got us in quick. Today at that appointment, we had the same exact experience. As scared as my daughter was, they worked SO well with her. It was such a great experience overall and I can’t wait to continue coming back here. I will be recommending to everyone I know to go to Gilliam Dentistry!

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Connie Bruce-Gilliam was my childs dentist. Her practice is amazing! We have had regular check-ups, restorative, n preventative care, as well as care after a fall. I have never seen a dentist so in tune with children. Although, she's always busy and with a lobby full of patients waiting, staff keeps things moving quickly and efficiently. Even after my 3yr old had 5 fillings, and sedative needs he still loves going. There are always plenty of toys and games for all ages and we always leave with a toy.

Experiencia negativa: Today we visited this practice for the first time as new patients. After thinking over the visit experience, I'm not sure what to think. Our initial experience coming in was good. Pleasant and what you would expect as new patients. I appreciate being given our appointments right away, I really needed to have them seen. We had next day appointments. I loved the childish theme of the office, the toys, play area and arcade games. I felt welcomed when we were brought back, the tech kindly gave us a tour and spoke friendly to my children. I felt like I was in a pediatric dentist then. But I noticed a couple things that seemed unusual, comments, tones and gestures coming from the dental staff in the back that seemed abruptly, rude and unprofessional. One young boy had to go to the bathroom, the tech let him go but rushed him in, put her hands on him to hurry him in and then interrupted him while he was using the bathroom, to rush him out. Upbruptly telling a 6 yr old to go to the bathroom to wash her hands without directing her on which direction to walk seemed careless. We were new patients and she did not know where the bathroom was but she was told to go to the bathroom and wash her hands. Dismissed from the chair without being told we were done with the visit. The doctor seemed to overstep professional boundaries. I don't like that parents aren't allowed to be in the exam rooms with our children. Young children need the support of their parent, especially as a new patient, before trust has been established. My children are scheduled for more invasive treatments, after one visit. I feel like this practice seemed pushy to hurry and pull teeth. Seemed fast to me. I'm afraid to have 2-3 teeth pulled out of my 6yr olds mouth without being present. I'll have to trust complete strangers while she is alone with them. After thinking this over I will ask for a second opinion.

Experiencia negativa: i don’t even want to give a 1 star review. my daughter went in about a month ago to get some cavities filled. nothing but pleasant experiences the first time my husband took her. now she goes back in today for a follow up to be told we owe more money after paying 800 out of pocket and 1000 dollars to what the insurance paid (mind u it was 4 cavities being filled) bc supposedly they could cause serious issues if not resolved).when my husband asked for a statement in regards to this bill the owner/dentist stated that she was uncomfortable with my husbands uniform, not even offering to go over the bill any further. mind u prior my husband was in his uniform beforehand and it was never a problem until apparently today. there have been numerous cases where they have a lack of respect for children and adults and come to find out per previous posts as this they had a child who had stopped breathing during their dental procedure and didn’t notify the parents until after ems arrived. it is a sad day in general the facilities that we have for our children to go to, to be seen and these are the ridiculous things that we have to worry about. i should not have to fear that my child could potentially be harmed or even die bc of the lack of care that these dentists use in there office. I am simply putting this out there to warn other parents to be more diligent about who takes care of their children while they can’t go back to the room with them. sadly i didn’t know this until after my daughters small procedure but i can guarantee i will not be returning.

They don’t have to worry about pain and tell him to the dentist Hey this hurts and they don’t they don’t take care of it but this dentist they actually care about how you feel and how comfortable you are with things and they make you feel comfortable and want to be seen there so I give them a five star rating. They’ve been doing myself and my children justice with our teeth and I really appreciate them and I will always continue to go to them.

Experiencia fantástica: My son has been coming to dr connie Gilliam for over 2 years now, my son was dramatize from his previous dentist that he seen in the past. I brought my son to Gilliam because he kept complaining about his one tooth hurting he was in so much pain. To find out the dentist before did a bad job on the tooth, she made my son feel comfortable even though he was scared his first two visits she did anything and everything to make my son feel comfortable and feel at home and not to be scared showed him the tools let him touch them to see it won’t hurt. Now when he has an appointment not scared and looks forward to coming she doing everything she can to safe my son teeth and to make sure they are coming in right. Because she did such a good job with my son in the past and now my five year old daughter comes to her. She teaching the kids to be independent and she teaching them the right ways to take care of their teeth I highly recommend coming to see her.

Not only are they rude, They pick and choose who is allowed to go back with their kids one of them threatened my 11 year old child and when I tried to make a complaint about how me and my kid was being treated they sent me into a room and sent the lady in room alone with me. I had no idea they were sending her in room with me. Multiple times I told the lady I wasn't speaking to her to let me out and she tried to block me in room.

I've been takimy my daughter here for 2 years, I've never had a problem and I always have a positive experience. My daughter comes in with a smile because she knows she gets to play with the play sets they have and she leaves with a smile because she gets treated well. Experiencia negativa: I was told my 10 year old son needed 6 baby teeth pulled for emergency reasons due to incoming adult teeth. I understood that 2 were important to pull. We had 1 appointment for 2 teeth to be pulled out and I confirmed with the assistant but the dentist pulled 3. The next appointment they didn't wait long enough for the laughing gas to work and my son felt all of the pain and not just pressure. The third appointment he was already terrified to go because he said the dentist was rough and didn't listen to him. I asked him to go through with it as it was his last (sixth tooth total) to be pulled. I get to the appointment and I'm told he has 2 teeth total to be pulled (1 more was added with a total of 7). I told the assistant only 1 tooth was being pulled. He went back and had an anxiety attack, as he already has high anxiety, and the dentist did not comfort him. The assistant was wonderful and tried to talk to him but he did not want the dentist to pull his teeth. He asked for another person to pull his tooth.After an hour he was in tears from refusing getting it pulled. I'm later told its just a cosmetic thing and it's not necessary. When at first I was told it was an urgent to get them pulled. My son later told me that the dentist said "she could wait all day because she was getting paid" and he had brought a book from home and she just took it without asking for him to hand it over. One star is not worthy for my sons traumatic experience. We will not be going back.

Experiencia negativa: My now 9 year old daughter received dental care with Dr.Bruce in 2019. In 2020 she was seen at an emergency dentist in Florida due to an abscess that had formed on a crowned tooth done by Dr.Bruce, the tooth was then pulled as the infection had formed under the crown and was spreading. We were informed by the emergency dentist that the work was likely done poorly as this should not have happened. In the summer of 2022 my daughter informed us that one of her other crowns had fallen out in her sleep but had thrown the crown away because at the time she didn’t recognize what it was. She mentioned to us that she still experienced pain in this tooth and we immediately scheduled an appointment at Gilliam to have it addressed. Come to find out there was decay in the previously crowned tooth which we thought had been taken care of previously. To us it seems that crowns were placed over decay without properly addressing the health of the teeth. Possibly to receive more money from insurance and clients? Because of this we needed to return to have the half done work fixed and pay additional out of pocket costs. When speaking with insurance we were also informed crowns have a guaranteed 5 year life and if properly done will and should last. We voiced our concerns but informed Dr.Bruce that we didn’t believe it would be right to charge us the $1200 more she quoted us to correct work that clearly was not done correctly and additional work she didn’t need, including attempting to charge insurance again for sealants that we already had placed on her teeth elsewhere in April of 22. After speaking more we agreed to pay the $40 discussed via telephone with the receptionist prior to the appointment & Dr.Bruce did agree to that, thankfully. Our fear is that we are not done having this work corrected as our daughter has other crowns that were done by Dr.Bruce and we have no way of knowing exactly what could be unfolding underneath of them, only time will tell. As a parent I cant bring myself to trust this establishment again, although I am glad they rectified the situation, I’m still very weary of what other issues could pop up in the future regarding the past work that was done. For that reason I do recommend researching other pediatric/family dentists for your own family.

They got me all the way right with the Love & Hip Hop smile After I saw how amazing they were I got my daughter in the doors as well. We’ve been going here for a Few years now and I will always recommend this office. They have the original Pac-Man also lol ❤️❤️ My daughter loves Mrs Connie and Mr Dr Gilliam is hilarious. They got us in right away, gave us instructions to follow to save the tooth, and continued to follow up for several weeks to assess the situation. And to top it all off my son came out mad and told me in a low tone “ don’t every bring me back here “ and I ask him why. He didn’t say anything until hours later stating “ she pulled my hair so hard I cried “ and my son doesn’t cry so I was very angry at the fax that she even did this to my son.. I regret taking my kids every and every time back to this place, as of today I’m looking to another dentist office who will handle my kids with respect and care for them so in my view I won’t be coming back.

Experiencia negativa: First and foremost, Gilliam Dentistry does excellent work on teeth. The work done on our children has been excellent. However, we have had issues with rudeness by certain people. We originally found Gilliam Dentistry when we moved to Jacksonville, NC. We were desperate to find a dentist to continue the care for our 3 year old. The only place we could find local that did sedation was Gilliam Dentistry. After our first appointment, my wife and I both made comments like, "The dentist really isn't friendly." and "For a children's dentist, the dentist really doesn't seem to like kids." However, they did do good work and my daughter's teeth were fixed. We paid over $700 out of pocket, which I am fine with paying, and they billed our insurance (Tricare) for the rest. My wife took our children back this July for routine cleanings. This time was worse than the first. The dentist was extremely rude to my wife. After the kids' teeth were cleaned, my wife waited for a while to discuss the further treatment. When my wife met with the dentist, my wife asked, "Is there a fee I have to pay today?" From there, the Dentist told my wife she needs to call her insurance and know exactly what they are covering. She explained that we (the dental office) are the bad guys and could be charging my wife and me whatever they want. Then, she looked at the invoice for the visit and says, "Oh, looks like there's no fee today. Well, let's have a fee! You want some of these floss picks?" After this, my wife called me and said we are never going back to this dental office. That was the last straw for us. We transferred our children to another dentist in Wilmington. On another note, Gilliam Dentistry did do great work on our children's teeth! Additionally, the front staff were very friendly. When we transferred our kids to another dentist in Wilmington, they recommended the same sealants as Gilliam Dentistry did. However, Gilliam stated there would be a $179 co-pay, while our new dentist only charged us $11 and then no-feed us the $11 because it was such a small amount. Gilliam Dentistry will take care of your children's dental needs; however, after our experiences, we decided this office wasn't for our family.

We have moved since first finding this dentist but even though it is an inconvenient drive for us now, it is so worth it to have such a trusting, patient, and campassionate dentist and staff to care for my kids. They are all very well educated and truly know what they are doing and how to handle children of all ages and behaviors. My youngest child has been the difficult one, who now loves to go and they always have patience and campassion in helping her. I cannot say enough about how much we love this dentistry! Would rate them higher if I could!
