Experiencia fantástica: The dental exam was absolutely flawless and completely pain free! The staff is very friendly and professional during and after my dental cleaning process. I never enjoyed getting my six-month cleaning than I did at Family First.

Experiencia negativa: The VA referred me to this practice because it participates in the network providing dental care for 100% disabled veterans. I waited several months for my appointment, which was scheduled for July 6, 2026. After I chipped a tooth, I called to request an earlier appointment and was grateful that they accommodated me so quickly. Unfortunately, shortly afterward, I received a call informing me that Dr. Williams was no longer honoring his agreement with the VA and that my appointment was canceled. After waiting months for care, I would have expected advance notice rather than a last-minute cancellation. The lack of communication was unprofessional and very disappointing, especially for veterans who rely on VA network providers for timely care.

Experiencia fantástica: I moved to the area about 3 years ago. Went to a different dental facility at first. Also in Fredericksburg and I was consistently disappointed. I mean, good service and all, but nothing spectacular. But every time I went back there were different hygienists, different doctors, different everything. So, it was a little bewildering to constantly be meeting new people. So, I gave up after a while. I did some internet research and decided to give family first dental a try. I did. Today! And, boy was I blown away. I absolutely love the facilities, I love the people and I think the doctor is one smart dude. Finally found a dental facility that I hope I can stay with for the rest of my life.

Experiencia negativa: This was the worst dental experience I’ve ever had in my life. I waited 45 minutes to be taken back and finally asked if I had been forgotten about. I was then taken back for X-rays and my god were they painful. I’ve never experienced such a torturous X-ray process. The doctor finally comes over and examined my teeth, muttered something to himself and then left. The only staff member that communicated anything to me was the dental hygienist, and I had to ask her about the health of my teeth. I also overheard the dentist snapping at his staff while he performed a cleaning on my husband in the next cubicle. My husband said it was the most painful cleaning he’s ever had. We will not be returning.

Experiencia fantástica: I've been going here since I was about 5; I'm 2 years from 18 now. Dr.Williams and all the staff are amazing. The front desk is the sweetest. Another thing is, I didn't have floss for a while, and of course, the doctor is going to say something because he always looks out. He gave me a whole box of floss that I use. He's the sweetest thing, and so are the staff. Very accommodating!

I approached him several years ago asking for a recommendation for a pediatric dentist willing to take on my very young son who is on the spectrum and has an aversion to anything close to his face (kind of hard to avoid that when visiting the dentist right?). He asked me to give him a shot to see if my son would work with him. I was skeptical, but agreed. Honestly, his patience and willingness to meet my son’s needs never ceases to amaze me. We took it slow at first; he allowed him freedom in the chair, to get familiar with his tools, etc. My son is now 10 and actually looks forward to going to see “Doc Williams”. He does amazing for he and his staff bc he trusts them and that means EVERYTHING to this mom! Huge shoutout to the entire team who helps my son feel comfortable and encourages good dental hygiene!! My husband and I are also long time patients. We trust him without reservation and he and his staff always do a fantastic job for us. I appreciate his honesty and straight forward advice.

I was made to feel soooo comfortable, even if i was acting like I was 5yrs old. I was shaking and so nervous! Everyone from front desk, to techs, to Dr. Williams himself was the bomb.com. And be careful they will try to get you to sign a consent form saying you are responsible for any future money due to bad dental work!

Experiencia fantástica: Had an appt today. And usually they are pretty fast about getting patients back. Today seemed like an off day. As I watched about a half an episode of the show they had playing. I didn't mind waiting but I had my sister in law in the car with my kids. So I asked if it would be much longer and that I didn't mind waiting and explained my situation. The lady at front desk apologized because of illnesses they were short staffed and went to ask and said about 15min more minutes. So I asked her if she would mind calling me so I could run the kids over to wawa for some snacks. About 15min later I got a call. Told her I'd be there in 5min. I went back and to my surprise Dr Williams did my scaling. He apologized for the wait. He was clearly running around too. I LOVED seeing him in action. He stepped up when his staff was struggling and that's what I love about this office. It's always FAMILY oriented. And even when they are clearly in struggle all the employees step up however they can. Cannot recommend them enough!

I called on a Tuesday to see if he could get an appt for tooth pain (and he wasn’t a patient here). They were able to get him in the same day. They were able to schedule his extractions, fillings, and deep cleaning for two days later. Everything went very smoothly. The front desk is very pleasant and so helpful. I can tell they really enjoy their job. He was very impressed with Dr. Williams and how kind and professional he is. He will continue to receive his treatment and routine cleanings here. Truly a great office.

Also, very understanding when I have to cancel. I have had 3 appointments here, and all 3 wonderful. My daughter is 6, and on the spectrum, who had her first appointment there in August, and I was blown away by how comfortable they made her! They wanted her first visit there, to become familiar with the office, and did not force anything upon her at all! The dentist, front desk staff, and assistants were all incredibly kind and patient with my daughter. To have her come in and have to get a shot in her mouth but still somehow leave with a smile on her face is a feat only family first dental can accomplish. My 3 year old and 19 year old are seen by him and he has a calm, friendly demeanor that makes going to the dentist a positive experience for all ages. Experiencia negativa: I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT! Please ensure the hiring of professional dental assistants. My teeth, which were prepared for crowns, have been damaged. The temporary crown was slightly tight, and during removal, they broke it, causing damage to my front teeth. Additionally, the permanent crown they made is very ugly, big, long, thick, and not of standard shape. It is very uncomfortable. They have now decided to make another permanent crown, so they put the old one back as a temporary solution. However, it was placed very loosely, and I was told to wait for two weeks before returning for the new crown. Almost five hours later, during dinner, the crown fell off with my second mouthful, ruining my entire night. This incident also made me realize that my own teeth were broken. I had to wait until the morning to go back and have it fixed.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a GREAT experience at Family First Dental!! The staff was super nice and very informative. Dr. Williams took time to walk me through and explain my treatment plan. Dr.Williams and the staff answered all my questions and concerns. The Family First Team demonstrated excellent customer service!!!

Experiencia negativa: Avoid this practice. The front office is horrible. The main dentist, Dr. William is unprofessional. While I was in major pain and waiting, I could hear dentist William complaining about his divorce to a patient next to the chair I was in while waiting. He apparently knew the patient and dentist William was making jokes about his marital issues and soon divorce. Later on, when the dental assistant that was working on obtaining a molding for a temporary crown, when she heard that dentist William was getting divorced, she stopped working on my crown temporary molding and she went to dentist William and said,” wow you are getting divorced?!”. I was in agony and in pain and neither dentist William nor his assistant that were making a temporary crown were not concerned at all. I asked the assistant that I need to use the bathroom because I was sitting in the chair for almost two hours. She said it will be another 5 minutes and you will be done. It took another hour by the time the dental assistant was done. I sat in the dental chair not being able to go to the bathroom. Things got even worse. They didn't even order the permanent crown and the temporary crown that they placed, fell out and I swallowed it by accident. After I complained about my experience, and when I called to have them order the permanent crown and schedule the appointment, dentist William refused to schedule the appointment. I assume he was embarrassed to be so unprofessional about him complaining about his soon to be ex wife with a patient and everyone being able to hear him complaining about his wife that he is divorcing. Things got even worse. They billed the insurance company for work that they didn't even perform. When I spoke with my dental insurance they said this is fraud. I called the front office and spoke with the office manager, who ended up being as bad as dentist William. I said I will contact the Virginia corporation commission to seek assistance, and the front office manager said go ahead and wasn't even interested in resolving the situation. I will be filing a complaint with the Virginia corporation commission regarding this.

Experiencia fantástica: Been coming to family first dental since my daughter was 4 years old the staff and Dr. Williams is absolutely outstanding and soon we will be bringing my son as well for his first visit I cannot say enough about the patience that Dr. Williams and his staff have getting my daughter comfortable at first visit to now going off to the 6th grade highly recommend as a dentist!

Experiencia positiva: I was confused when the dental tech polished my teeth before they were cleaned by scaling. When I asked, I was told the hygienist would be in shortly to actually clean my teeth. It just seemed out of order, but probably reflected which tech was available first.

I am terrified of going to the dentist because of previous experiences I've had, but since first going to Dr. Williams 8 years ago, he has always made me feel at ease. We moved away from the area and I still come back here to receive dental care from him. I can't recommend him and his staff enough!

Everyone I know is petrified of the dentist, but let me tell you… at Family First Dental, I’m always confident that everything will be amazing! I’ve been seeing Dr Williams for 8 years now, he is a wonderful doctor. He always makes me feel like my case is important to his success. The assistants are beyond knowledgeable, and personable. The front friendly staff is always prompt, upbeat and are sure to get me seen, at my convenience. If you, your family or a friend is looking for a new dentist….
