Experiencia negativa: This used to be a 5-star review because of the wonderful staff, specifically Joy. Unfortunately, after meeting the new dentist today, I can no longer give the same recommendation. Her communication and standoffish demeanor were disappointing. I found her to be dismissive and condescending, and I was genuinely taken aback by the way I was treated. I have already shared my concerns with the orthodontist who referred us because I no longer feel this is the great option it once was under the previous provider.

Experiencia positiva: I took my teen here for a cleaning/exam. We got in fairly quick and the front end team was friendly. I had explained in the paperwork that she had some dental trauma from a past experience. Dr. Naffah's bedside manner was subpar IMO. We went back to get a filling and my child was in obvious pain. Instead of asking how he could help, he tells her to "stop moving so much" and continued the work. She was sobbing by the end and referred us to another dentist, saying she needed to be sedated for any further treatments. No one locally will do sedation for a 14 year old. We went to another practice and had zero issues because the dentist continously asked how she was throughout the procedure, and gave her more numbing when needed. I just thought he could've been more kind with his approach, as she is a child, and this is a kid's dental office.

Experiencia negativa: If both parents go only one parent is aloud to go back with the child. I sat in the waiting room listening to my 2 yr old screaming because she had to pick just one parent. That’s not fair to her.

Experiencia fantástica: We absolutely love this dental office! The staff are always so kind, patient, and welcoming. They are great about getting us in very quickly, no sitting around for 20+minutes like most places. My daughter actually looks forward to her visits, which says a lot about how gentle and caring everyone is here. They are wonderful at soothing a scared or nervous child, taking the time to explain each step and helping kids feel safe and comfortable. The office is clean, cheerful, and very child-friendly, which makes the whole experience stress-free. I’m so grateful to have found such a wonderful dentist for my daughter—we couldn’t be happier!

Experiencia fantástica: This has to be one of the best children’s dental clinics I’ve taken my child to the staff were kind and courteous to my child and I! If you were looking for a better place to for your child’s teeth care, you wouldn’t have to look any further than here. So I recommend scheduling an appointment today, the wait time for an appointment scheduling date was a week away opposed to months out, including the factor that she was a new patient at this dental clinics, which is rare from my experiences, but a true blessing! Upon arrival we were checked and almost immediately called back, we were sorted all of three minutes until the call back. And the appointment took 20 minutes to be completed. I’d like to thank the staff and this company for a wonderful experience, for myself and my daughter! Keep up the great work, that I’ll do!!!

Experiencia negativa: Don’t take your child to this dental office ! The dentist has no business treating children. Bedside manner is horrible. Doesn’t discuss with parents what he plans to do to your child’s teeth. He is rude and does procedures that are not required. I believe he wants to bill you for unnecessary medical treatment for profit.

Experiencia fantástica: My youngest son's first dentist appointment was an emergency extraction after his tooth cracked and was pretty traumatic; he came in a week or so later for a cleaning and the staff made him incredibly comfortable! It was like his first visit never happened. My oldest son has quite a bit of out of pocket dental work and they have been working on it with me to make things manageable over time and multiple visits. Wonderful folks.

They take their time and they explain what they are doing in a way he understands. The staff have all been friendly and welcoming. I didn't catch her name, but she was extremely encouraging and uplifting to my son the entire experience to help ease his anxiety. He has a hard time at dentist sometimes. The noises from the equipment and whole process of it in general are hard for him and his sensory issues. The dentist was very helpful to assure my son he was doing good job and helpful with the details of the visit answering any question I had. Overall a best experience yet. Thankful for ALL of the staff at First Kids Dental!

Experiencia negativa: Our first experience was great for cleanings. However our experience today, having a few teeth pulled for braces was not a good one. To say at the very least the Dr. lacked bedside manner. Telling a child to "calm down" because theyre "over reacting" to pain is inexcusable.. "it doesnt even hurt" those quotes were the few comments made by dr. Navi today. My daughter was trying not to sob in the chair with his hands visibly shaking during the numbing part of the procedure. She couldnt breathe the laughing gas in through her nose because she was upset. Then after he pulled the last tooth.. he proceded to get up and leave the room abruptly. We will not be returning to this practice after today. Im afraid this experience will have her afraid to go to a dentist for the rest of her life.

Experiencia positiva: Mostly a positive experience EXCEPT…apparently they send a text message reminding you of your appointment that you HAVE to reply to in order to confirm the appointment. I did not receive my text message or a phone call for that matter. When we arrived at our scheduled time we were told that we had been removed from the schedule and was considered a ‘no show’. I explained that I did not receive a message, nor a phone call and didn’t know that I needed to expect one. Fortunately they were able to get us back on the schedule the same day, but it 2.5 hours later.

Experiencia negativa: Our appointment was at 315pm. Was not taken back till after going to ask why they had not called us back yet. It was after 4 before we went back. And that's really hard on a 4 year old to wait so long. We was there almost 2 hours total.

Experiencia negativa: Waited until my children had a second opinion before leaving my review. Had a cleaning done here and it was terrible. Hygienist was great for all of my kids, doctor was terrible. He came in the room for less than 2 minutes, didn’t go over any x-rays or really speak at all about anything, but claimed my daughter needed an extraction (this was accurate and has been handled) and then said she needed 6 fillings and would need to be put under. Then proceeded to say my 5 year old needed EIGHT crowns on his baby teeth, didn’t tell me which teeth, didn’t show me why, nothing. They also said he would need to be put under for this. Took them to a new office for a cleaning, 5 year old needed 1 filling and my daughter only needs 1 filling as well. Absolutely ridiculous that this place hasn’t been shut down as a Medicaid scam.

Experiencia negativa: Beware of Kids First Dental. I have been taking my kids there for a year now. Monday 1/13 I took all three of my children ( 7,4,2) to Kids First Dental for their regular check ups. At this check up, the dentist told myself and my 7 year old son that he needed 5 crowns and 4 sealants. I was shocked and confused because my son has never needed work before and at his last 6 month visit in July he only had one tooth the dentist was “watching.” The dentist vaguely showed us on his X-ray a “shadow” spot between two teeth that indicated crowns, did not speak directly to my son at all and did not explain what the procedure would be like in detail. I left frustrated and my son nervous and scared. I decided to get a second opinion from another dentist and today 1/23/25 we went into a different office where the dentist found my son needs NO work done on his mouth. He said he had one spot that could be a small cavity but because of the adult tooth coming through we should leave it because the tooth will come out before it needs to be worked on. This dentist showed up in detail the X-rays, explained everything in detail, spoke directly to my son and allowed him to ask questions. I am beyond angry that the dentist at kids first dental would not only recommend procedures my son does not need but acted in a rude and harsh manner. Not only did we struggle with this but we also noticed that my son has a lot of plaque on his front teeth after just being cleaned last Monday as well as he brushes every day. I do not believe they properly cleaned his teeth either. All three of my children will be moved to this new office.

Experiencia positiva: they'll send you a bill in the mail but won't call you back when you requested it to pay your bill.. Also they won't separate accounts. I needed an itemized bill for one of my two children with what insurence already paid and what I already paid and they said they couldn't do it. They just send you a bill of what you owe with all your children on it.. Its very strange and a hassle if you need to file a claim with secondary insurence.

Experiencia negativa: Where to begin! This is the worst dental office I have ever dealt with! I submitted multiple appointment requests online for multiple weeks. Because apparently no one there gets paid to actually answer a phone call. The online requests were never answered. Not once. Yet they advertise “same day” and “emergent” appointments. That’s laughable. Then not able to ever talk to a real human?! I have been trying to get in with them since September. It’s now January. I also had X-rays emailed directly from another dentist to their office more than once AT KIDS FIRST REQUEST to be emailed to them. They got them. But put them under a different chart name. Not my daughter’s name. Then never called back. We waited and waited. I resorted to sending a fax to get someone to respond, telling them of my concerns, my wait times, and the mistake of them placing her X-rays under another name. It’s the only way I could get through to them. A fax. Pathetic right? But after the fax the office manager called me the same day I sent the fax. Yet then The office manager told the doctor that my daughter had “only just seen them” and that we basically had not been waiting. Wrong. They seen us after I sent a fax on December 4th. When the office manager called me directly. Not even caring I had been ignored since September. Then on January 9th acted as if she’d never heard of my daughter’s delay in care when she contacted me directly off her personal phone after the fax in December. The doctor then proceeds to call us and basically tell us they were nice for “fitting my daughter in”. When it reality, they messed up multiple times for multiple months and shoved her on whatever appointment time they could. Which is a surgery at 3:45 for a 3 year old with no food/water allowed from midnight on. That’s over 16 hours for a toddler to be denied food and water because of their lack of accountability and poor response time and false advertising. They have no heart. And they also should be reported for false advertising. And should be reported for allowing such a delay in care. And if they have so many patients that they can’t seem to return or answer calls, then upper management needs to hire more staff or more competent, caring staff. Everyone I’ve finally spoke to or my husband has spoke to has blamed another department (anesthesia) or another excuse. No one has yet to take accountability for their mess ups. For their mistakes. If you want to help your child be tooth pain free, this isn’t the place. Because they do not care and no one will take responsibility. The surgeon also has a 2 year old. When asked if he would want his toddler to be without food and water until 3:45 from midnight, and asked if he would want to be stuck with a toddler for that many hours while having to deny them basic necessities, he wouldn’t answer. Just proceeded to say they were helping us and “fit us in”. No. They delayed our care and tried to make themselves sound like they “fit us in”. This place is pathetic. If only our usual amazing dentist offered anesthesia options, we wouldn’t even be here dealing with them. I cannot believe this place is this heartless and this incompetent.

Experiencia fantástica: I took my 9 yo there yesterday, it was his 1st time having to get any work done. I couldn't have asked for better. With medicaid, it's very difficult to find a dentist that is in network because medicaid only pays about 50%. Dr. Naffah does it because no one else will. I couldn't have asked for better, the staff were very nice, and seemed very happy to be there. Dr. Naffah is very patient and his assistant Joy Cooper were absolutely amazing. They took their time making sure he was relaxed and comfortable before they started anything. My grandson hugged the assistant before we left and I took the time to tell Dr Naffah and Joy how much I appreciated what they do.

Experiencia fantástica: This office is not only adorable and so inviting for children the staff is so patient and kind to the kids. I being a single mom of 4 with the kids out of school for the summer and limited child care had to bring all 4 of my kids in for my oldest kids appointments and the staff was so understanding and helpful to make sure we had the best care and experience all around! I would highly recommend for families with young children.

Seccy (one of the receptionists) has been my favorite so far. She is great with kids and has the kind of demeanor I would love to see more at doctor's offices. Five stars to Seccy!

Experiencia fantástica: This office is by far the absolute BEST and has the most wonderful & caring Dental staff from the front desk to the chair side manner of the Dentist himself & all his Hygienist's. They are all so good with kids & they have worked miracles for my (3) Grandkids. They take extra care & time earning the kids trust so that their fears are minimized in the chair during treatments. They do a "show & tell" with all the tools being used prior to the Dentist doing a thing. The gals at the front desk Liz and CC are so accommodating & work diligently to get us in sooner whenever a cancellation arises. I honestly cannot say enough positive things about this Dental practice and the way they all go above and beyond for the sake of all of our little people :) Thanks guys for everything that each and everyone of you do to make going to the Dentist at such a young age not just tolerable but fun for the kids! Experiencia negativa: I can’t even begin to say how horrible of an experience I had with Dr Naffah. He was nice the first visit for X-rays/consultation, the second visit we came back for fillings our appt was at 10, we didn’t go back until 1045 (which I didnt mind), once we got back they put my 6 year old on the Gas, we waited for a few more minutes for Dr Naffah to come in. The moment he came in he was frazzled and rushing around. He quickly started demanding my 6 year old to take deep breaths of the gas, each breath my son took Dr Naffah would flail his arms up and angrily say, “He’s not breathing! He’s not doing it right!”, he then starting pushing on my sons chest to ‘assist’ in these “deep breaths”, rudely and aggressively, continuously telling my 6 year old he wasn’t breathing hard enough. Continuously the dental assistant told Dr Naffah, “he is breathing”, but he demanded he breathe harder and louder. During this breathing escapade, he was continuously instructing his assistant to pull up the schedule, he would complain about the schedule, how “he was behind” and “didn’t have time for this”. This lasted about 5 minutes, before he left the room to see another patient. During this time myself and the assistant easily got my son to take deep breaths, by talking to him calmly and kindly. Dr Naffah came back, started to give my son injection numbing, to which my son said a simple “ow” as the needle went in. Dr Naffah again, started flailing his arms saying “he didn’t have time for this he’s not breathing the gas correctly that’s why it is hurting”. My son, wanting this to be over asked him to finish and Dr Naffah gave two more injections. Waiting a few moments to numb, Dr Naffah started harassing his dental assistant about the number of trash cans in the room and her not using the irrigation properly & again for the 4th time asking her to pull up the schedule to complain and then looking up at the clock saying again to me he “doesn’t have time for this”. He started drilling for about 30 seconds, to which my son raised his hand, Dr Naffah ripped the stuff out of his mouth, my son asked, “Are we almost done”, Dr Naffah then threw another fit, having the nerve to then ask if my son was “Autistic” and demanding we see another place because “he cannot deal with this and have time for it”. He then left the room and refused to treat my son. My 6 year old sat there with a numb mouth, and cried, because he was so mentally beat down by Dr Naffahs escapade. The dental assistant was so clearly embarrassed and horrified by what she just witnessed. The fact that this is a “pediatric” dentist absolutely blows my mind. Dr Naffah has zero patience for children and I would believe in fact that he doesn’t even like children. He had ZERO tolerance, ZERO compassion, and ZERO professionalism. My son was an absolutely normal child at this visit, he sat still, he breathed the gas, he didn’t panic or act out. But that didn’t matter to Dr Naffah, he wanted us out of there because his schedule was behind and has zero time for young children patients. Now my son is walking around with a half drilled mouth in pain, now scared of dentist because of Dr Naffahs terror. This was an absolutely horrific experience and the fact that these experiences keep happening to other children and this man is still employed is beyond me. DO BETTER

Experiencia fantástica: Everyone was so friendly from the moment we walked in! They were so good with our nervous kiddos, well worth the two hour drive, highly recommend this office! Their hygienist Ashley, was amazing and made them feel so comfortable for their first visit!

Experiencia fantástica: My son has had about 5 appointments now with this practice due to some teeth problems and from the beginning they worked with him to help him not be scared. Now today he had a tooth pulled and just sat there calm as could be because of the work the hygienist Joy and the dentist himself have done to make him feel safe. Highly recommend this practice.

Experiencia fantástica: We left this practice almost a year ago due to the dentist at the time being so disrespectful. We heard they had a new dentist with some new staff. We decided to give it a second try. BEST DECISION EVER! They have made some big changes and the new dentist and the staff are amazing! So great with my kids. Informative and helpful. Understanding and cheerful. Excited to see you. Great bed side manor. Really have it together. Thankful things are better!

I will say we scheduled an appt for two kids and I didn't have service to accept the confirmation call/text and they were very accommodating with letting me get 1 kid in! 10/10 will recommend

Experiencia fantástica: Good experience. Fast service. Best receptionist ever! She was super sweet and helpful, one of the nicest ladies ever!! Dental hygienist was also very nice and helpful and very good with my daughters ❤️ I think this practice has such a good review because of the ladies at the front desk and the hygienists theu truly try to make everyone feel as comfortable as possible. They deserve as raise! After reading some other reviews I realize this receptionist ( wish I got her name .. ) is a sweetheart all the time ! What a difference she makes to this place !

Experiencia fantástica: The staff is really friendly and are helpful with accommodating to your schedule. We went in on an appointment that we forgot to confirm and they squeezed us in anyways. Seems alot of people have missed this call though. Alot of people don't answer unsaved numbers. I'd suggest maybe they could send a confirmation email to help with this issue. Experiencia negativa: My child is non-verbal autistic. This was our second visit. We let the staff know at the very first visit that our son was non verbal autistic. It was noted in the chart. Today's visit was terrible. We waited in the waiting room for about 35 minutes before even getting to a room. Once we were in there we waited for about I'd say another 20 some minutes due to siblings having x-rays done. By this point we were about an hour in. My son started to get yp and pace the room because we had waited so long. I asked if the c-rays could be done on the next visit. The dentist then comes in the room and rudely asks why my son is in my lap? I said because if you read the chart it states he's non verbal autistic. He does better on my lap and I can assist. He did great when the dentist checked his teeth, counted his teeth. Etc. However the dentist didn't try even once to clean his teeth. He very rudely stated he couldn't see "his type " he'd have to be referred elsewhere. I have never nor has my son ever been treated so poorly because of my son being autistic. They put in the referral letter he was being referred elsewhere because of " his size, his behavior and because he's autistic." The letter was extremely rude, hurtful and disrespectful. My son never acted out once, was never violent, was great for the whole visit. I'm completely outraged by the dentist who saw him. The hygienist was lovely. After making the statement he'd refer him elsewhere he just got up and left the room. Never said bye nothing just rudely left the room. I wouldn't take my child here if I were you!

Experiencia negativa: My daughter has high anxiety when it comes to the dentist. She allowed the dentist to do two filling with me in the room. The last filling I could not be there due to work so my husband was there. My daughter was not letting them do the filling while my husband in the room or out. The way the dentist spoke to my daughter was inappropriate. You don’t talk down or frustrated to a patient that is anxious. The dr said we have to take her to another dentist that will sedate her. I called the office after finding this out and and told them that my daughter has had two fillings already done with me in the room and the receptionist asked the dr if he would allow us to come back and he said no because she was not allowing him to do the work. This shows that he is not thinking about his pts. He made the situation worse by the way he spoke to her and it’s ridiculous that because she wanted me there he won’t reschedule. I think this dentist needs some training in mental health and some coping skills with anxiety. I would also check your bills with your EOB. The bill the office sent me is more than my EOB. I brought that up to the office months ago and they were supposed to call me and never did!

Experiencia negativa: The dentist is great. My children are very comfortable with him and I appreciate the dental team that we came in contact with. However, the scheduling department is another story. Appointments were made and then canceled without notice or proof that they had been made, I was texted other children's names, saying that they were mine and we had missed the appointment. Lastly, I called after missing an appointment due to the death of my grandmother on the morning of the appointment. I explained that I had previously been dismissed and the aforementioned appointment was my "2nd chance" before being dismissed again. I was told that they would speak with someone and then ultimately made two new appointments. I was allowed to bring in one child for their appointment after this conversation took place.When I came to bring my other child, I was told the appointment had been canceled due to dismissal. I had to explain the whole situation again, including the fact that we had missed the last appointment due to the death of my grandmother, in front of my child. All to be given a sticky note with dates that we missed on it and dismissed anyway. I had to take my child to school crying because she had to overhear our conversation and due to the fact that she was already nervous about getting her first cavity filled. This is why I tried to call and resolve the issue over the phone in the first place. My child and I were treated very carelessly and without compassion and empathy. We were only meet with a blank face, a sticky note, and not even an apology for the confusion.

Experiencia negativa: The Worst Dental Clinic in the Roanoke Valley. My children have been discriminated against at this place more than once. So unprofessional, they changed employees several times a year. It always someone different and difficult. I was aware of their policy and they didn’t like that. As of 3/15/2022 my 3 children will be relocating due to the disrespect over the phone from the receptionist and constantly discrimination.

Experiencia fantástica: We had an excellent experience at Kids First. Everyone from the front end to the doctor were very pleasant, and were so kind and reassuring with my children. The ladies in the front were very efficient in setting up my appointments and immediately called me when they had openings available. I’m very happy with the service received and the kindness with which it was executed. Thank you everyone!

Experiencia fantástica: Definitely the best dental office i've taken my kids to ever! The doctor is awesome, very friendly, funny and has alot of patience to put up with my 11 year old who doesn't stop talking. The nurse was just as great! All 3 of my children are new patients and I was able to call and get them in for their initial cleanings within a week of calling. Please do not change, you guys are awesome!
