Fantastic experience: I always have a very good experience at Sylvan Dental. I had a cleaning and a fluoride treatment done.The Hygenist did an excellent job, and Dr. Bailey is always excellent at everything he does.

Negative experience: The x-ray process was very painful and also made me gag. I never want to go through that again!

Positive experience: 45 minute wait for a morning appointment. Staff seemed distracted. Shot hurt. Treatment satisfactory.

I came in to get my 6 month check-up and found that I had an infection in my gums so they had to take x-rays and then inject some powder antibiotic. She was so sorry to have me in pain and was so concerned with how I was doing. I have been coming to Dr. Bailey for over 30 years now and will miss him terribly when he retires. I hope that one of the other doctors are so caring of their patients. Good work, everyone from reception to dentist. all are wonderful and very professional.

My hygienist, Ashlyn really loves what she does and it shows. I live in Mountain Home but it's worth the drive to Brevard to go to Sylvan.

The female dentist that I saw, I’m sorry I don’t remember her name, but she was very informative! She gave me a few suggestions about my dental care! She is a new dentist at Sylvan Valley Dental! I’m not sure if she’s taking new patients but give them a call! They are all highly recommend!

Negative experience: To say the least, I am not pleased. I was charged for a periodic exam by the hygienist, had X-rays, charged again for a full mouth debridement for $149 and three antibiotic treatments of $73 each. My bill was 481. Ridiculous. I come back in 3 months thinking I’m seeing the dentist, but no, I’m there for a 3 month cleaning, which no one asked me if I was interested in coming every 3months , which I’m not. I would like an explanation. Is this what is going on since the business was sold? All this charging including a fluoride adult treatment. Basically a swish and spit! Seems to me, the hygienists have been told to up the charges. Either an adjustment or explanation . After ten years of being pleased with Dr. Lorch something has really changed and not for the better.This is what happens when a corporation owns you ! The profit is what counts . Elaine Mihalas

Negative experience: Office performs unnecessary dental work. Several years ago, I was told by my dentist Jeffrey H Lorch That I needed a crown replaced. After the procedure, Medicare disagreed and refused to pay since the current crown was only 50% worn down. The front office never checked with my insurance to make sure that it would be covered. Office insisted that I owed them over $2000 for the procedure. My reply was the procedure was not necessary and the front office should’ve checked with my insurance before the work was Performed. And why we place a crown that’s only 50% worn down I think Medicare will pay if it’s 75% They kept insisting that I was responsible for the bill. I slowly paid the bill off since they were threatening my credit and years later I must’ve had $190 balance left Instead of just writing off $190 I just found out that they turned it over to a collection agency I paid it since I want to keep my 800+ credit Rating So I had to pay for their mistake when the entire balance should’ve been written off Do not use this practice

Fantastic experience: When we moved to the area, we were given a list of dentists in the area. We selected Sylvan Valley Family Dentistry from word of mouth recommendations. We immediately felt welcomed, and that's hard when you just moved to the area. EVERYONE in the office genuinely cares about each patient. They are thorough and extremely hospitable! Our insurance recently denied a major claim, and they came to my rescue. They worked extremely hard on my behalf. I was kept in the loop every step of the way. I was called with great news, saying the insurance company was going to pay for the entire claim. Dr. Lorch and his team are top-notch and ALWAYS go above and beyond the call of duty! Thank you for the CONSISTENT OUTSTANDING SERVICE!!! KEEP UP THE GREAT JOB YOU DO EVERY DAY!!!

Fantastic experience: I had a tooth ache and needed to be seen. Heather was super friendly and worked hard to get me an appointment quickly. My dentist Dr. Jacob's was very thorough. She didn't want me to spend money on restoring a tooth that might not be able to be saved. Imaging proved her correct. The tooth had to be pulled. The extraction wasn't fun but the next day I had very little pain which was surprising. Sylvan is a great dental office. They are all friendly and professional and I would recommend Dr. Jacobs.

Positive experience: Was disappointed to learn AFTER the visit that the x-rays were barely covered by insurance. New ones were taken because they couldn't open the ones sent from the previous dentist, but they didn't try to follow up on them until the day before the appointment. Other than that, everything was great.

Fantastic experience: This was my eight-year-old’s first time at this office and The dentist was very patient and kind to her. She gave her a minute to calm down after she seen the needle and also let her have some music on in the room to keep her relaxed.

Negative experience: I am extremely anxious about the dentist in the first place. I waited 20 min after my appointment time and had decided to reschedule if no one came by 30 min after my appointment. Kim came at 29 min. I told her about my anxiety and she was apologizing and very kind.I was able to see Dr Bailey who was also very kind. I still dread each visit to the dentist and do all I can at home to take care of my teeth. We will see how the years progress at this office. One year at a time!

So, Dr. Jacobs who is new to me examined my mouth and was also thorough and pleasant. All in the practice are pleasant and friendly.
