The staff were very welcoming and my hygienist was very thorough with x-rays and very informative addressing all my concerns. DR Von Gunten provided a comprehensive plan for my dental care.

Negative experience: Bed side manner was very poor from the dentist. Ultimately, he may be good at dentistry but how he treated his staff caused me concern and convinced me to seek out another dental office. I couldn’t knowingly spend money there after what I experienced first hand. Note: The dental hygienist and receptionist/billing was courteous and professional.

Positive experience: Dr Von Gunten is an excellent dentist while he is making the money from you. After that, any check ups you have that are free, forget it. Especially after denture procedures. His attitude changes into unprofessional chair side manners. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde syndrome. I was warned over and over from other people who have gone to him that he acts bipolar. Well...I got to witness it twice recently. It took me everything I had to not snap back at him. I mentally rose above the situation and realized, we don't need him, there are other kinder dentists. He needs us to make his money. His wife and hygienist and the front desk ladies are super courteous, professional and prompt!

Fantastic experience: He is a great guy. He’s not Dr.cox but he is still good. I have been with Dr. Cox for 23 years and he was great. It was sad to see him selling the dentist but was glad to see he put someone in there that knows what he is doing.

Fantastic experience: You could give me all the time in the world, and I would never be able to express my love and appreciation for this office as much as they deserve. From my first appointment with them, they were communicative and Dr. Von Gunten took the time to explain the science behind anything every time I asked or acted mildly interested. In a single appointment, he removed a lot of shame that I had about a stained crown that I had for 10 years by explaining that blood can stain the composite and that there was only so much I could do. Every hygienist I saw here took the time and was careful when cleaning my teeth. I had a lot of anxiety about people handling the tooth at the front of my mouth with the crown so they always saved it for last. When I moved out of High Springs to a town an hour away, I still came here for treatment because they are an incredible team. When I told them that I wanted to get my crown replaced in time for my wedding in March, not only did I get a full treatment plan so that it would all be handled well in advance, but Dr. Von Gunten’s wife gave me tips on wedding planning. If we could’ve had more people, they would have been on the invite list. The administrative staff also went to bat for me with insurance to make sure that everything would be covered. Truly, I cannot thank this office enough. They brought back my big goofy smile with none of the shame or embarrassment attached. I am also now seeing a new dentist as I moved up to Vermont, and my new dentist could not stop praising the incredible work that this office did. If my insurance would cover it, I would still be seeing them, even if it meant a flight down to Florida every six months.

He was able to numb me enough that I barely felt anything which is a first for me as I have had difficulty with local anesthesia in the past. His methodology and expertise in oral anatomy were amazing. I'll definitely be back for any further work I need.

Negative experience: Changed dentists based on moving. Was told during my 1st visit that I had 16 cavities. Believed them even though I've only had one in my entire life. Had the 1st few done here at the office in High Springs. They were not gentle. Went to another dentist for a 2nd opinion since I've not had a cavity before. He went over the X-rays(that High Springs circled all the "cavities " on) and gave a full exam. Absolutely no cavities whatsoever, when High Springs Dental said I still had 8 left... Very upset that I was scammed into having 8 non-existent cavities filled and told I had 8 more that needed to be filled when they don't exist. Sad to manipulate people. I will be reporting the incident with my insurance as well as filing a fraudulent charge on my copay. A scam is a scam.

Fantastic experience: Like most people I'm not a big fan of the dentist office but the folks that work here are extremely nice and make you feel very comfortable. It makes it bearable to go to the dentist when you have such great people working there!
