Positive experience: While the dental staff is excellent, the office manager has been avoiding me about returning a refund that is owed. There refusal to follow the eob issued by my insurance company is disturbing. Bottom line you can’t keep my refund. I will be letting my insurance company know.

Fantastic experience: I struggle with anxiety going to the dentist but I can say I don't feel that way at Newark Family Dentist. The staff are all very kind and friendly and the dentist (Dr Marc Lewis) is the best I've ever had. I highly recommend.

I appreciate them ALL very much. This time was a little easier . . . 2 permanent crowns installed. Still not done. one more crown and 3 feelings down the way. What a mess, huh? Like me, my teeth are getting older too. I know the team will do a great job and that's a comfort within itself. They'll fix my problems and have me on my way. I got through the rough part last week . . . 3 pain shots in the gums . . . Triple UGH! I think the numbing shot medicine came right out my eyes . . . Just teasing! Truly, I am always impressed with how well things go. What a team of dedicated, and sometimes humorous people. One needs this at a Dentist office. Negative experience: Really wish I didn’t have to make this review, but now that I have medically suffered from the lack of empathy and compassion this office holds, I can’t sit quietly any longer. The dentist at this office is incredibly out of touch and rude to those who are poor. As someone who cannot afford services out of pocket and uses insurance for everything, the dentist here treated me as if I was worthless to his company and wallet. I needed my root canal retreated due to a bad infection which was making me sick, which was found out during my cleaning. The dentist, Dr. Marc Lewis, referred me to an endodontist out of network after telling him multiple times I cannot go to places that don’t accept my insurances. Lewis refused to hear my plea and said that this was the only place that could help me, even though other options exist. After telling me that since they didn’t take both of my insurances, I would have to pay around $360 out of my own pocket to have this service done, I told him again that I cannot afford that. Lewis then yelled at me and said if i didn’t do it was at risk of death and should just ask my mom for money. Seriously? I am a grown adult who does not live with my parents. Telling someone to ask their parents for money for a dental procedure is horrendous and threatening me by saying if i didn’t do it at that place I was going to die was awful. Most likely, he is in cahoots with the endodontist and only refers people to him, as others have said they haven’t been told to go anywhere else. After that visit, I was so upset and angry for being shamed that I cannot afford the procedure and basically told I need to ask for money from family. After his yelling, he stormed out of the room and left me in there to wait for a hygienist to do the actual job — the dental cleaning I came there for. I returned later on for some fillings and Lewis was just as rude as before. He berated me again for not getting the procedure done when, once more, I reminded him I could not afford it or just ask my parents for money. My mom actually makes less than I do and I don’t have any other family to beg from, but Lewis just doesn’t get that. He was incredibly mean and cold to me while giving me my filing and the assistant was just as rude, almost like he wanted nothing to do with me. I cried in the parking lot after that whole endeavor. I ended up having to get the tooth completely removed at another office since he refused to send me somewhere that could actually help me, and since he spent so long insisting on the endodontist, my tooth had decayed beyond repair. Now I am missing a tooth at 22, which could have been something easily fixed. Thanks to the lack of care from Lewis, my smile is ruined, I cannot afford any sort of replacement tooth, and now will have bone loss in my jaw. The tooth could have been saved if he stopped running me around in circles, helped me find someone in network who could help me, and stopped yelling at me for being poor. Now I have a new dentist who doesn’t treat me like I am a burden on his wallet. PLEASE go somewhere else for your dental care, especially if you are on Medicaid or rely on your insurances. Lewis does not care about your wellbeing and will embarrass you loudly in front of other people for being poor, and will think that you can just casually ask others for money like he apparently can. Worst dentist Ive ever had. I had to wait to post this once I had found a new dentist, as with his attitude he’d definitely berate me in person for such a review. Posted under this account so he is less likely to know who I am directly and harass me.

Negative experience: Terrible communication and client services. Tried charging me a missed appointment fee for a an adult that doesn’t live in my home. Laughable. In addition, 2 weeks prior when we called in to confirm the time for that day they told us we weren’t on the schedule and then called to tell us we would owe a missed appointment fee when we didn’t show up. Ridiculous. Then when I suggested an understanding of the poor reviews the doctor said, “it’s because of people like you!” WHO treats people this way? My 3 children will never be back.

Negative experience: For FIVE years i went here. Every time i was told i had another4, 7 even up to 16 cavities each time. I had CareSource and they absolutely took advantage of that. At my last ever visit I was told i needed a root canal and had 4 other cavities. I went to get a second opinion because i couldn't afford thousands out of pocket for a crown. The place i went to in Granville were amazing. Upon a new set of x-rays they said i didn't need a root canal AND i didn't have any cavities! Its been 4 years since going to this dentist. I've seen several different dentists over this few years and i still have yet to have a cavity!!! This place is a scam and replaced healthy teeth with fillings for a paycheck!!!!!!

Negative experience: Clean facility, ease of scheduling and good communication. Friendly staff/dentist until I had to reschedule a child's apt for the 2nd time. First time was because we were short staffed and I had to be in a classroom, had to work overtime . Today was because my son didn't go to school because he was not feeling well. The dentist called me very abrassively saying(paraphrasing) that only those people who are serious about their dental health are welcomed in their facility. He was extremely rude saying my son had poor dental hygiene and he obviously does not make it a priority. Listen....the first time I rescheduled was because of my job, I had to work late. Then this time he is sick! The dentist then proceeds to ask me what insurance he had and when I told him, he said "Good luck finding someone!" Obviously by your demeanor Dr. you lack empathy and bed side manors . This was from another patient of his, Daniele W. The day of my appointment I woke up very sick. I called to cancel my appointment and explained I was sick. The girl that answered the phone told me she’ll cancel my appointment, but I could no longer be seen by them. I asked why she said because I didn’t give them a 24 hour notice. I explained I woke up sick. She said due to our office policy that is the way it is. I said I wouldn’t want to be seen by people who have no compassion or understanding. I would never recommend this office. They made me feel horrible because I was sick. What kind of medical facility treat you like this

Fantastic experience: I've never felt more welcomed in a dentists office. The staff was very comforting to my anxiety of my first visit and the dentist was amazing. My teeth were awful and deteriorating from my steroid dependency caused by my health conditions. The treatment is amazing and the compassion was greatly appreciated. They all show a love for each other as well as there love for each patient they see.
