Fantastic experience: 9/8/26 update the work is done and my husband is happy. He's even agreed to regular cleaning appointments. That hasn't happened since I've known him. My husband isn't a fan of going to doctors, especially dentists. His mouth shows it. He had his 1st visit with Dr. D. and willingly scheduled another appointment for next week. That says a LOT. He is going to need extensive work done (hmmm imagine that) so I'll try to remember to update as we go along.

Fantastic experience: DR. DLUGOKINSKI extracted a tooth, shaped it, and used it to make a temporary tooth until a permanent solution is completed. The staff are very helpful, friendly, and in one word "phenomenal". Dr. Dlugokinski explained everything in detail, answered questions, and performed the procedure flawlessly! He is outstanding and the best I have ever seen. Highly recommend!
Awe, thank you so much for the high praises Dale, its not a common procedure to extract a tooth and cut the root off and bond it in place... but sometimes you just have to think outside of the box. As a newly graduated dentist 35 years ago, I didn't have a clue that one could do such... I guess that kind of stuff just comes with experience.

Thank you for the Kind words Richard... I've always felt that if a patient doesn't understand why I recommend something one way or the other, I don't feel comfortable treating the patient... I believe dentistry calls this "informed consent". Unfortunately, not all dentists take time to explain things to patients.
Fantastic experience: I called Blue Ridge dental to make an appointment as I had developed an issue with a tooth that had been crowned some time ago. I called midday and was scheduled for 4:00 pm same day.

Fantastic experience: Been a patient at Dr. D's for over 20 yrs now. Today was a small cavity down near the gumline and I was in and out in less than 45 min in a totally pain free procedure. I have always had great service here and Dr. Dlugokinski is a very good dentist. He thoroughly explains what he has found on an exam or what he is doing as a procedure and I have great confidence in him.

LOL, but seriously, I learned 35 years ago in the Navy to never "pull" a tooth, rather, you "push" a tooth, just like a fence post in the ground, rock it back and forth, loosen up the dirt first! Fantastic experience: Our grandson who lives out of town was visiting us and had a molar crack. Dr. Dlugokinski was kind enough to work him into his full schedule. Since the tooth turned out to be non salvageable he prescribed medication to ease the pain until our grandson could see a specialist back home. We greatly appreciated him making time to treat our grandson.

After another appointment, I can honestly say that experience wasn’t a fluke. Although I didn’t see Dr. Dlugokinski this time, Beth was incredibly thorough and took the time to share helpful tips while also reassuring me that she could clearly see the effort I put into caring for my teeth. After having been made to feel judged by another dental office in the past, hearing that validation meant more than I can express. Mrs. Dlugokinski at the front desk also remembered our previous conversation about our move to Tennessee. Fantastic experience: If you need a dentist this is the place to go! My dentist wasn't available and I felt like I had an urgent dental need to be addressed. Dr " D" treated me like I was one if his regular patients. He gave me a thorough examination and subsequent treatment. I felt cared for and welcomed. The staff was efficient and friendly!

Fantastic experience: Best Dentist and hygienist we have been to. Highly recommend them. Carlee has magic hands. Best hygienist I have ever had. Took my anxiety away and was actually relaxed during the cleaning. Dr D is also amazing and very caring. Explained every single xray and didn’t try to tell you, that you needed deep cleans etc. He was honest and you can tell he loves his profession.
Thank you Carmen! Did you know that a lot of dental offices only give the hygienist 30 minutes for adults and 15 minutes for kids? I give my hygienists 1 hr for adults and 30 min for children... I don't like to work on roller skates, and don't my wife on skates either... its all about slowing down, being gentle, and loving our patients.

Ricardo, what a wonderful praise coming from a patient! Its no fun being a dental patient, I don't like sitting in the big chair either... but we try to make each visit for our patients and comfortable and as pleasant as we can.
Fantastic experience: Doctor D is great got me in the same day for some swelling in my lower left side. Pulled a couple teeth with as much precision as he could under the circumstances and made a big difference in my overall feeling. Still hurt like no other but teeth are one of the things there isn’t any sugar coating. It’s important to take good care of your mouth and even then sometimes it’s still not enough depending on diet, choices and other variables.

I've coined the term "Raising the patients dental IQ", when patients understand the "why", patients generally start to take better care of their teeth. I usually average 60-70 hours each year. I love learning, and miss the days when I was teaching at the dental school in Augusta, GA once in a while.

Thank you Edwin, most dental offices give the hygienists 30 minutes for adults and 15 minutes for children... I give my hygienists a full hour for adults and 30 minutes for kids, so they can be thorough, establish that relationship with the patient and stay on time.

Fantastic experience: My last Dentist check up was in Texas 2023. Finding a dentist fell in my lap when I met Dr. D In WalMart. Had my first appointment today. First the staff was outstanding. They are so Friendly. Shawna and Dr. D. were FABULOUS!! I highly recommend them to everyone.

Positive experience: Procedure was a bit rough although I’m sure necessary My mouth is very sore can’t tell if it’s my tooth or gum just very uncomfortable. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. All staff were very kind.
Thank you for the feed back Bruce, we pride ourselves on trying to be a gentle as we can... but sometimes you can't compare a cavity/crown/extraction/or cleaning from one patient to another, or tooth to tooth as some cavities can often times be bigger than others, some crowns may have a filling well below the gum line requiring a subgingival preparation, and some patients have more tartar than others requiring getting below the gum line to scrape the tartar off. If it was a cleaning you had, sometimes I have to step in to administer anesthetic (we dont charge for anesthetic) to make the visit/cleaning more comfortable (which is why I tell patients to please let the hygienist know if you have discomfort and she would be happy to come get me to numb up a few teeth or so).
Fantastic experience: I had an urgent dental matter and was referred to Dr. Dlugokinski did a thorough exam and determined I needed a crown. His chair-side manner is friendly, caring, and, most importantly, informative. I had previous experience with a crown many years ago, but the attention to detail on this present one, and the outcome of same, was above and beyond what I’ve experienced in my previous (out-of-state) dental interaction. End result? I sm extremely pleased at how perfect this crown not only fit (like a glove!), but the appearance is flawless and matches my other teeth to perfection. I highly recommend “Dr. D” and his staff to anyone with dental needs.

My laboratory ceramist in downtown Copperhill, Ronnie Hensley (Owner/Basin Dental Arts) is the best dental laboratory technician I have ever worked with in 35 years. I had Ronnie make a crown for me when I broke a tooth 10 years ago, I could send my crown anywhere in the country, but I asked Ronnie to do it, that's how much I think of his artistic work and expertise.
Fantastic experience: Dr. D’s office was amazing and I would highly recommend them. He was very knowledgeable and did not try to “sell” unnecessary dental services like other dentists I’ve been to. His hygienists and staff were very friendly and efficient. My husband and I had a great experience and would definitely recommend Dr. D.

Thank you Rick, maybe that's why I was such a good teacher when I was teaching at the dental school in Augusta? Although, I must confess, sometimes my wife tells me that "when someone asks you what time it is, don't tell them how the clock works"! But that's my nature of dentistry, if a patient doesn't understand why I a make a recommendation one way or the other, then I feel as though I haven't done my job to help a patient make an informed decision.
