Fantastic experience: Wonderful staff!!!

Fantastic experience: I was visiting Tahoe and developed an excruciating pain in my lower jaw. Doctor Shimp Was kind enough to squeeze me in between patients. His staff was so kind and helpful. It turned out I needed a root canal. I am so thankful he was able to pinpoint the problem and I got help for the tooth and the pain. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much Dr Shimp and staff!

Fantastic experience: So far I’ve had pretty good experiences. Only had my teeth cleaned a few times here, prices either went up or I was misquoted for a procedure I needed done. But doc and the hygienist seem knowledgeable.

Fantastic experience: It was nice meeting the staff at Kings Beach Dental! Now, Dr.Shimp and his staff have shown the ability to use the latest of techniques with care and a nice touch! Thank you for doing such a wonderful time with my new crown. His dental hygienist is very efficient and she goes the extra mile, for example by putting a numbing agent on your gums and continually putting a balm on your lips! Thank you:-) Dr. Shimp's dental assistant, used a modern, hand-held exray machine, which was fast and done quickly. Evelyn, as the receptionist, is on top of everything she does. Fantastic experience: We came to Tahoe for a couple of months from Florida. My husband needed root canal. Dr Shimp got him in the next day and did root canal and a cap all at the same time. No down time. The office was great and Dr Shimp was wonderful. My husband wants this office to be his main dentist instead of our dentist in Florida. We highly recommend them!!!!

Fantastic experience: I developed a super painful abscess on my tooth while i was in tahoe for the summer. My primary dentist was states away so i was super glad to have found kings beach dental. I was able to get in the next day and my pain relieved. Dr. Shimp peformed a root canal and i am very happy with the results. I felt like my concerns were heard and he was very thorough and meticulous. Happy with my results and couldnt reccomend this place more if you are in the area needing dental work.

Fantastic experience: Kings Beach Dental is hands down (to me) the best on the lake! Evelyn at the front desk is very accommodating and very welcoming. The hygienist Teressa is super friendly.. I wish I could visit her more than every six months. She’s very caring about your teeth and lips! Dr. Shimp and his assistant Nikki make a great team and go above and beyond making sure you’re comfortable in whatever work you need done. I’ve had a situation before years ago that made me terrified of the dentist chair, but this whole team really changed that for me and I appreciate you all so much! Also.. you can’t beat their views of Lake Tahoe. Theres no bad chair! Thank you Queens and Kings Beach Dental. 10 stars!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Shimp (& company) was recommended to me after I was hoping to find a Dentist closer to me (Incline). Well, not only is it closer but well deserving of 5 stars! From Karen & Cynthia (front desk), Nick(?) X ray tech, Teresa (?) Hygenisist &, of course, Dr. Shimp provided detail information about each procedure and/or financials. Fantastic experience: I haven't been to a dentist in a very long time and was nervous to go in. The entire staff at Kings Beach Dental were so nice and supportive. They answered all my questions and helped me get back on track and I'm super grateful for them.

Fantastic experience: I never review places whether it’s food or businesses but the staff at Kings Beach Dental deserve praise for their dedication to their patients. My girlfriend had to get a root canal on vacation and they got us in the next day. Not only that but they stayed an hour and a half after closing during the 3 1/2 hour operation to ensure it was done right, safe and pain free. All the staff were incredibly kind and I couldn’t recommend this place enough if you need any dental work done!

Fantastic experience: Kings beach dental is absolutely amazing! The staff is so professional and kind, Dr Shimp made sure I was comfortable and did an amazing job. I had to have an emergency root canal procedure and they stayed an hour and a half after closing to finish and help me. I’m so incredibly thankful, if you need dental care in Tahoe I highly recommend!

Negative experience: Totally unnecessarily drilled the hell out of my teeth, which have hurt ever since. Maxed out my insurance, filled my didn’t-need-to-be-filled teeth very shoddily (large, painful gaps that had to be redone elsewhere), did unnecessary procedures (over the course of what felt like an insane number of visits), and all in all created persistent tooth pain (still life interrupting 6+ months later). Had perfectly fine teeth before I came here. Very sad to have had such a poor experience and feel so scammed — office seemed caring and competent initially, and disappointed to see such blatant profiteering underneath the veneer of friendliness. Not sure how this continues to fly in such a small community — everyone I know who has gone here has had some version of the same experience. EDIT: now has new ownership

Fantastic experience: Fast and Comprehensive dental services offered by a highly professional team. Dr. Shimp works quickly, gently and thoroughly. I am curious so I particularly like that he will explain the process every step of the way. The receptionist is always welcoming and helpful. Chair-side assistant Nicky and hygienist Theresa are exceptionally competent and caring staff members.

Fantastic experience: Folks are really nice, my cleaning was more thorough than my last office, and I fully appreciated the homemade lip moisturizer and tooth polish with essential oils.

Fantastic experience: My first visit to this office. I’m pleased to see all the important COVID protection measures. The staff and Dentist are very friendly, thoughtful and through. The xray experience is outstanding and comfortable as they use new digital equipment. The hygienist is the best. Teresa is one of a kind, doing a job far and above most others.

Fantastic experience: First of all, I'm the biggest chicken on the planet because the dentist I had as a child did NOT use Novocain - not that uncommon in the 1950s and early '60s. I needed a crown replaced and my regular dentist couldn't see me for quite sometime, so I called KBD and they fitted me in promptly. Unfortunately, the day of my procedure the "crown machine" which mills a crown in the office was out of order so Nick put in a temp. The same afternoon, I got a call that the machine was fixed and my crown was ready so I got it put in the very next day. The whole office demonstrates skill, kindness, compassion, and dedication to the patient experience. Thank you Dr. Shimp, Nick, Cynthia, and Karen. You were all so understanding of my dental PTSD and I couldn't be more grateful or recommend this practice more!

Fantastic experience: Clean, newer equipment, vibrant and professional staff, top notch dentist performance (had two cavities filled that line up perfectly when closing mouth/teeth, very happy), discount offers for full payment and cash payment & yearly membership program. *Also has a partial lake view from some seats.

Fantastic experience: I had my first appointment here today. It was so wonderful! Nick was nice and so personable. Shimp said my teeth were “impressive” and that’s going to boost me up all day. Then Teresa was the sweetest. Definitely a new favorite person. They came up with such a good plan for my teeth. After 5 years of no dentist… they didn’t make me feel awful but wonderful. Now I’m going home with a clean mouth :)

Fantastic experience: Came to Dr Shimp with a painful bubble under my tongue. He skillfully and professionally took care of the issue. His sweet wife even held my hand, as I was nervous. This was a while ago but thought I’d leave a rating as it made such an impression!

Fantastic experience: My experience here was so great! I had to get a root canal and Stephen the dentist made it all a quick painless procedure even though I was so nervous about it!

Fantastic experience: I don’t do reviews but felt compelled to. 2 points : 1/ compared to my previous visit where doc was pushy and signed me up for things I didn’t need and had to pay out of pocket, this time, experience was friendly. Stephen, evaluated X-rays, gave his honest assessment…no sales pitch to get the extra stuff…and provided worse/best case scenarios of when/if I need extra work (eg for crowns on my front bottom teeth) Stephen seems an honest guy! 2/ AI is not replacing Teresa! What a gem of a person and what professional attitude and service. I have probably had 50 odd cleanings in my life and Teresa was so far the best of all. She went the extra mile. I was the last slot of the day but she worked on me as if I was the first appointment in the morning. Pleasing smiling engaged personality. What energy and what professionalism! Stephen is lucky to have her on staff. Exemplary service!

Fantastic experience: My dental cleaning was surprisingly pleasant despite the nature of the experience. The hygienist maintained communication and comfort throughout and provided a slightly homeopathic approach that seemed above and beyond.

Fantastic experience: Care was excellent. Had an urgent situation and they got me in same day (unheard of in Tahoe it seems) and the Dr was great. Very thorough, very professional and reasonably priced as well. Also his front of office was great. Really can’t ask for much more.

Fantastic experience: This is a grade A++ dental clinic in all respects. The dentist, the staff, the clinic, and the equipment. There are some outdated reviews, don’t read into them too much, things have changed apparently and I’ve never had such good care.

Positive experience: this was my first time ever to this office. my experience was that Staff was friendly, and seemed very knowledgeable. the only reason for the 4 out of 5 is because they got me in 15 min later than scheduled appointment. The prices are a little high, compared to other offices.

Fantastic experience: Staff was punctual, accommodating and very professional. Had a crown replaced. It was a two step process. 1) remove old crown, prep the tooth and scan 2) make the crown from the scan and put it into place. There was a hour wait for the crown to be made. I was able to go to the grocery store to do some shopping. Came back an hour later. Crown was put in place and I was out in 30 minutes. Nice to get the crown work done with one dentist visit.

Negative experience: The previous dentist here, Jason Henderson was about as bad as possible and will not be surprised when he loses his license. I recently learned that the two cavities needing root canals are actually not cavities at all. Now I wonder if the first “cavity” he treated (quickly going thousands over my annual insurance) was even necessary. Unclear if he was just grossly incompetent at billing or if he was intentionally shady. He repeatedly billed me more than he was supposed to, mis-categorized the treatments and was very deceptive about actual costs for my visits. He also bribed patients with $25 to post a good review on Google and Yelp Apparently, Jason also had a failed practice in the Bay Area before coming up to Kings Beach. I wanted to leave this review in case he opens a new practice and tries to leverage the good reviews of another dentist. I think that the current dentist here should distance himself from Jason Henderson as much as possible and remove him from their website/video.

Fantastic experience: Dr Shimp was a hero after I broke a tooth in half eating some popcorn. Luckily, he saw me straight away and I was fixed up in a few hours. The staff are very friendly and Dr Shimp is very competent. I highly recommend him.

Fantastic experience: Super positive experience at Kings Beach Dental. We were on a family ski vacation at Palisades and one of my crowns came out on a lift line (don’t eat electrolyte gummies!). We had 5 days left on our vacation and were 3 hours from home. I called a number of dentists and Kings Beach Dental was able to squeeze me in that afternoon. My crown was unable to be reseated. I expected long drawn out process of temporary crown on the first visit and a permanent crown on the next visit. I was wrong! Dr Shimp was able to mill a new crown while I waited. Whole experience was 2 hours and my vacation was saved. Great dental care from really nice people. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I cannot be more thankful to Dr. Shimp for all the work he did for me. I'm here for the Thanksgiving holiday and develop an abscess which will require a root canal. I call him on a Sunday, he returns the call and says "I'll see you first thing tomorrow morning". If you've never had a root canal it's usually a drawn out process by going to a specialist for the root canal and back to your dentist for the remainder. Dr. Shimp did it all!!! He and his staff were completely professional and courteous. The entire process only took two morning appointments and I was on my way. Dr. Shimp is my new dentist. Thank you again for providing an excellent service!!!

Fantastic experience: I had a bad experience with the previous dentist of this place who lied to me about cavities. I got a second opinion and x-rays from another dentist after that and it confirmed he lied and was attempting to hussle me. The new dentist, Dr. Shimp, is trustworthy and cares about the patients health and well-being instead of how much money can be squeezed out. They have good xray tech and can very clearly show you cavities, which I still don't have! Complete 180 to my previous experience here. I will be coming back, thank you.

Fantastic experience: Dentists are the enemy. I came in with a relatively unique problem. Dr. Shimp was more than accommodating. I’m glad I stayed local instead of going to Reno. He helped me with my cosmetic issue straight away. Honestly, didn’t expect that, so cheers to Kings Beach dentistry.

Fantastic experience: Had an emergency tooth removal for a shattered wisdom tooth. Not only was the team at Kings Beach Dental able to accommodate me extremely quickly (within 2 hours), the entire staff was warm and courteous, it almost felt like I was visiting family, and the procedure (which ended up removing all 4 wisdom teeth) went noticeably smooth and easy as the doctor is very quick and precise, and he didnt mind sharing some of his knowledge with me as he worked! 10 out of 10, I would highly recommend Kings Beach Dental and will definitely be coming back here for all of my dentistry needs!
