Beautiful Smiles Dentistry at Red Bud

Negative experience: I hope nobody ever has to deal with what I went through here.. some stuff was nice.. but this place is terrible. I had to get a porcelain crown, with a metal post in my gums. Doctor did it crooked and it was hitting the nerve on my other teeth.. haven’t been here in a while but hopefully that doctor IS GONE.

Fantastic experience: Super happy with all services. They have an Angle( Ms Valda) there that will give you information on Medicare and dental needs. She is an advocate. Such a blessing she is. Ask for the Adocate. Ms Valda. God is good He keeps us.

Negative experience: I had work done for a root canal and was told that services would not begin until the balance was paid in full, which I did. When I returned three months later for a cleaning, I was informed that I had an outstanding balance. After discussing and explaining the situation for several minutes, they eventually stated that I no longer owed anything. Additionally, my scheduled 10:00 AM appointment had been given away, and I was told I would need to reschedule. On top of that, the tooth that received the root canal is still causing slight discomfort. Overall, this experience has been frustrating due to the billing confusion, scheduling issue, and ongoing discomfort. I declined a reschedule folks take care of your teeth floss and brush twice a day.

Fantastic experience: Val at the front desk is amazing. She’s often working by herself, yet she stays professional, multitasks like a pro, and always keeps a smile on her face. She makes every visit feel welcoming and smooth. Truly appreciate her!

Positive experience: I had to change my kid's dentist due to insurance. We really like Dr. O! She joked around with us and made us feel comfortable. We strongly felt like she cares more about the patients than the money. I noticed there was a lady there (Keely?) Bless her heart, they were running her all over the place. They had her running all sorts of tasks and she did a great job juggling everything. I will say though due to everything she was doing, it took her quite a while to get to us, but she was super nice and professional. My kids were comfortable and liked their visit and in my opinion that says a lot when kid's say that because most kid's hate going to the dentist. The parking lot is super small and the lady's at the front desk aren't the friendliest necessarily but not terrible. We are happy overall.

Negative experience: I had a horrible experience. Got some X-rays, and they double booked me for a cleaning. X-rays showed I needed some fillings. Well they had an opening come up so was able to get them same day. Waited over an hour past when my X-rays were done/when I was scheduled for my cleaning before they finally got me back for the cleaning, just for them to tell me they didn't have time. They still did my fillings. I have seizures, which I made sure they were aware, and they set off two. They didn't let the person with me stay near me to help, even after I requested it, or even tell them I had the seizures while there. I woke up from the second seizure confused and didn't know where I was or who I was with for a minute. Then the thing they were using for suction stopped working and they basically started drowning me and wouldn't listen to stop and take the thing out, so I literally choked until my vision started going out. Finally got it out and choked up some water when I sat up. I told them what happened and they were basically just like and said it should be working and went on like nothing happened. Poked me with a needle a couple times while working and they just said "oops small poke" and continued to do so, not paying attention to where they were working. The desk staff were extremely sweet and professional though.

Negative experience: This is the worst experience I've ever had with a dentist. I've been waiting over a month for a permanent bridge. They said insurance covers it. I've paid over 2k in cash for my part that I needed to pay out of pocket. Now since they gotten paid they are not in a hurry to get me taken care of. These people are clowns I wish I would have read reviews before going there. They are not professional. I wouldn't want anyone to deal with what I'm going through. Hopefully the lawyer will get me taken care of. It's just excuses the first bridge didn't fit now they are saying insurance doesn't want to pay for it? Well everything was good to go the first time. I think they are trying to scam insurance bc they are most definitely scamming me. Beware of this place it's horrible.

Fantastic experience: Making them my new primary dental care providers was an awesome decision! Amazing and friendly staff especially Mrs Valda, and they comply very well with my insurance I would definitely add more stars if it was possible, thanks you guys!!!

Negative experience: They got me in on a really short notice (same day) because I had a horrible tooth ache. Front desk staff were really nice and the Dentist and assistant went over and above to help me as well. However, after that 1st visit things took a downward turn. The assistants and hygienist were still awesome but the dentist lacked a good bedside manner with my daughter to the point that she has horrible anxiety about the going to the dentist (a different one the next town over) now. The facilities and equipment desperately need updating as well. It’s been a few months since we have been there and I wanted to wait to edit my review until we experienced another dentist.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful dentist office Ms. Keely is amazing

Negative experience: The dentist and hygienist were very friendly. The staff were friendly but incompetent when it came to dealing with insurance companies. They overcharge the individual and then when it is time to give a refund they will only write a check that you have to go pick up personally instead of refunding back to the credit card. I had a broken tooth and a temp crown, when I went back for the permanent crown based on the appointment they made I was told they had not received payment from my insurance company and I would either have to come back (40 minute drive) or pay myself. Basically holding my crown for ransom. I was able to log onto my insurance company website and show they had already paid yet I still had to pay then to get the crown in my mouth. They did eventually refund the money but that took over 30 days. Also, don't drive a large vehicle as the parking lot is suboptimal at best. Needless to say I will not be going back.

Negative experience: On 04/10/2024 my wife paid Beautiful Smiles $8354.00 via her CareCredit Card to have our daughter’s teeth fixed. After doing the work we found out some procedures were not needed so the total bill was $6106 after Val at Beautiful Smiles already charged my wife’s card. It has been over a year at this point & the staff at Beautiful Smiles still owes us a refund of $2248.00 plus Care Credit continues to charge us interest monthly because Val (Calhoun office) blame shifts & Elena (Dalton office) won’t respond to calls or emails. Today my wife & I stopped by the Calhoun office again & Val was VERY unprofessional, we told her that if this isn’t resolved we may resort to legal action because we have been paying interest on the refund amount & we feel like if Beautiful Smiles are dragging their feet that they should be responsible for the interest that it has cost us for the past 12 plus months. At that point we were told they needed our daughter to come in to sign some forms & once our daughter arrived they told my wife & I to go outside. Then Val (Calhoun office) told our daughter that my wife or I was not welcome to come back in the office even though the Care Credit payment is in my wife’s name & the refund has to be taken care of through my wife. We have been patient for over a year & just want Beautiful Smiles to do the right thing & refund the balance of $2248.00 plus the interest charges for the past 12 months since we have been more than patient. We have never been rude & have been more than understanding. Beautiful Smiles has really disappointed my wife & I both. Obviously there is much more to this issue than I am able to put in a review, this review is the cliff note version. We are VERY unhappy to say the least.

Negative experience: Went to appointment, was forgot about waited in waiting room for an hour before I went and asked. They stated I wasn't completely checked in by the staff that left for the day. Staff saw me sitting there the entire time, the hygienist took a vendor meeting while I was sitting there. They offered to get me in that day and I declined rescheduled for 2 weeks out as I had to get back to work. That appointment went well, I needed to schedule for a crown. I scheduled for the next day and paid a deposit. Checked in and taken to procedure room and left for an hour. No one checked on me or came to discuss any questions I had. While I was listening to the staff next door yelling for someone to bring more gauze to the procedure going on in the next room. I went to the front desk as it was getting close to closing time. Pretty upset canceled the procedure and asked for a refund of my $500 deposit. That was in February 26 and I am still waiting for the refund for the procedure that never happened. Multiple calls and continuously told the check is on the dentist desk to be signed. Still no progress. I had paid by credit card so I am disputing the charge though them. They have since called to see I would reschedule my missed appointment from February are you kidding me. They will never get business from me again.

Fantastic experience: Clean, the most friendly and helpful staff, Dr Carter is amazing, caring and puts your needs first!!! We were new to the area and so glad we found Beautiful Smiles! Definitely recommend!!!!

Negative experience: Very unprofessional way to run a business. Every time I had an appt they called me the day of to reschedule or cancel. One time I was in the parking lot and they said I could either reschedule or go to Dalton, both of which were inconvenient. Now I’ve been waiting 3 months for a refund check from them after I paid a deposit almost $1000 for an appt I had to cancel. When I first called they forgot to file the paperwork for the refund. The second time I called they were waiting for the Dalton office to write out the check that they said they only do on the first on the month. Somehow they let it slip two months in a row. I don’t even understand why I’m waiting for someone to write a paper check in 2025, I gave them a debit card. Would not recommend.

Negative experience: Its been a while they still owe me money. The dentures they made me are placed with baby size teeth cant get money back they dont fit. They made crowns for 2 teeth one is still cracked. But BEWARE they get you at the end!! Watch and track your insurance!

Fantastic experience: Just wanted to come on here to show my appreciation to one of the employees, Quetzaly. My teeth were a small insecurity of mine until I came here. A friend of mine recommended this place as they have had good experiences so I decided to go and Quetzaly welcomed me with a friendly attitude which made me feel comfortable right away. She presented my treatment good and made me feel a lot more confident in my smile so I am very thankful and will be returning.

Positive experience: Just want to say thank you for bringing me in same day. I was in so much pain from my tooth. The reason I'm giving a 3 star is because of insurance issue. They was putting in wrong info at first and instead of TRYING to talk to me they came in the room told me I owe them money and said I can't leave until bill is paid. Aren't you suppose to get insurance checked when you first walk in not when you get put in the back??? Ended up getting it worked out but that was frustrating and embarrassing to me because they did it infront of other patients in the lobby. Dentist i had was very nice but wish the front desk ladies had more commutation and actually checking my insurance before putting me in a room!

Negative experience: Tried to make an appointment, immediately asked my insurance name, which was a red flag. Then put on hold, then they hung up.

Negative experience: I scheduled an appointment back in April for a cleaning and had two confirmations about the time and date. Then, the day of my appointment, the dentist decides to cancel his appointments—no notice, no explanation. A week later, they have the audacity to call and tell me I'm overdue for a cleaning. Uh, no, you canceled it! I’m done with this place and found a much better, more reliable office that actually cares about their patients. Do yourself a favor and avoid the headaches with this one.

Negative experience: Horrible experiences! Waiting over an hour for our first appointment on 10/28. Had appointments on 11/11 and today 12/9 where they didn't even have us on the schedule, despite confirming online and in text. On 11/11 they didn't honor our original appointment and made us come back at 1pm. Today they were still able to see us.

Negative experience: Had an appoint confirmed by phone and two text messages. Received a link to preregister and fill out all paperwork and I completed everything as I was asked to do. Once I arrived at the office they had no record of my appointment or paperwork. The office and staff that I dealt with were 100% unprofessional. On top of them having no record of me the dentist was not there because they said his clutch went out on his car but of coarse I didn’t get a call because they had no record of me. I recommend you avoid this place. I noticed that on the counter they have a $50.00 no show charge. Well they should have paid me 50.00 for wasting my time.

Negative experience: Worst experience in my life.My appointment was at 1 pm they didn't take me bake till 2.10pm. Got back there they ask me why I was there. Told them filling fell out I just wanted it extracted dentist said he wouldn't request that. So he got lady to exray went back next day to get crown that the dentist said was best. They finally called me back got in chair he gave numbing shoot that hurt awful. Never have I had such a bad experience.He started drilling hurt like crazy then they ask me how I was feeling I said awful. He kept on filling my mouth with water and choking me to death water going all over me.Then finally done let got to drug store the crown feel out had to call them back said come back they fix it And the young lady that was fixing temporary crown drop it down in my throat and she caught it before I swallowed it. Like I said very bad experience and I'm 62 years old.I don't require anyone to use Beautiful Smile's in Calhoun Dr. Carter

Fantastic experience: I went in on a Saturday morning with a toothache and they were able to work me in and tell me the tooth had broken. Gave me options and then was able to extract the tooth without any problem or more pain on my part. I would recommend this practice to anyone. The dentist really wanted to save the tooth but I wanted the painful thing out.

Negative experience: I was impressed with the website and was excited about my visit to the Calhoun office. Until immediately stepping into the Calhoun office the webpage felt like a lie! Staff was terrible including the hygienist who cleaned my teeth she was still munching on her lunch while getting me set-up in the chair. I thought I was going to see Dr. Chikwava, because there is absolutely no mention of any other dentist associated with the practice on the webpage. (I assumed Dr. Chikwava shares his time at both offices). My appointment took over an hour, I'm guessing because they booked too many patients (lobby was overflowing with people also, when I left). I have no clue what the other dentists name was that checked my teeth because he never introduced himself and stayed behind the chair for the whole 4 minutes he was in the room. I will never go back, everyone was unprofessional. Like someone else mentioned and I immediately thought the same thing, if you have to give away t-shirts for 5 star reviews that's a major red flag.

Negative experience: Timeliness is not of the essence. Poor scheduling practices. 9am appointment and they’re already 30min behind? Receptionist’s solution was to offer a 12pm appt after I’ve already left work and my son left his practice to be on time. Scheduling is ALWAYS a problem here. We can be early and respectful of their schedule but there is ZERO consideration of patient’s schedules. Be prepared to be here no less than 2 hours. The only reason we come is for Tammy, my children are comfortable with her. I always dread dentist days because it is a chunk out of my work day. First thing you see in this office is the offer for a T-shirt if you leave them a 5 star review….

Fantastic experience: This is a wonderful practice. They are conservative about the care they recommend, but thorough; and the hygienist I see is fabulous (Wendy).

Negative experience: Took my daughter to get tooth pulled because she had a root canal done previously that she kept having problems from. Dentist convinced me to not pull the tooth that it was still a good tooth and for them to redo the root canal. Scheduled me for a few weeks out. Got letter from insurance saying root canal was not covered. I called the office and they acted like they were not aware. She talked with dentist and he said well we will go ahead and pull it then. I said why would you pull now after I tried to have this done a few weeks ago and you said it was still a good tooth. They trying to get money however they can. Needless to say, This office sent me a bill for $1000 a YEAR AFTER my daughter had the 1st root canal saying the insurance did not pay for it. I called multiple times asked for office manager and she was never available and receptionist was very rude. They knew it wasn’t covered and did it anyway then try to make me pay. Absolutely not. Joke of an office.

My teeth are in rough shape from a few years of neglect but he’s helped me fix them up. Most amazingly, I’ve never felt pain from him working in my mouth. Negative experience: It was really terrible one of the members there was completely rude to me and didn’t care about my pain. I’m in so much pain right now because of her. They removed my two wisdom teeth and didn’t want to prescribe me anything for pain, swollen up or anything. They didn’t want to prescribe me any kind of medication to help so I went to the hospital went to the hospital and they cared more and they cared more about me than this place. The hospital said they did me wrong and didn’t even understand why this happened. Again In so much pain. And you would think a dentist would know, but this place seem like it didn’t not one bit. They judge u by the way u look. I would never go back again worst case scenario. Take this advice they just use u for ur money. I’m do everything I can show them my pain. Cuz again they did not care. But hospital sure did.

Negative experience: So I visited this dentist several times years ago and they ran my insurance and I paid the difference at the time of service. Well recently I receive a bill for 4 years ago that shows I have a balance. First of all this is bad business to wait 4 years to bill someone. I will not ever visit this place nor will I recommend. I don’t care that you have a new system, if I owed you money in 2020 then someone then should have picked up the phone and called me.

Today I had impant surgery by Dr. Kudzai Chikwava with Ruby and Keely as assistants and it was great, very perfessional, no issues with pain or nervousness. My smile looks awesome! Way better than I expected im soo estatic! And to top it off Val at the front desk is awesome too. She really informative helps you understand everything especially the billing! Cant ask for a better staff to take care of my issues. This is now my new home dentist. Please use them for your dental needs.
