Negative experience: Went to Dr. Booher back in May of 2025 to look into mouthpiece for sleep apnea. This office wouldn't file any insurance and expected me to pay for it all. I can't remember how much it was. I went to another dentist, they filed insurance and my insurance did pay. It took about 6 months for the whole process but was worth it. I think this office needs to rethink about doing a little legwork and filing insurance, more might pay than they think.

I have always found the office staff, dental hygienist, and dentists to be highly professional and knowledgeable. Their friendliness puts you at ease as soon as you enter the office. You are walked through what ever procedure you are having done and perhaps most importantly I have never felt pain during any procedure. I would highly recommend this dental practice.

Positive experience: I was unable to see my regular hygienist because my original appointment had been canceled. Instead, I saw a different hygienist. Unfortunately, her approach was uncomfortable—not only were her comments about my buildup unprofessional, but her technique felt overly heavy-handed. When I mentioned that my appointment had been canceled by your office, she stopped the cleaning to verify my statement, as though questioning my honesty. Only after that did her tone change. Customer service is more than offering a smile or a soft voice—it requires self-awareness, respect, and sensitivity in how words and actions make patients feel. In this case, the fill-in hygienist did not meet that standard during my visit.

Negative experience: Title: Red flags all over the place I walked in at my appt. time and the 2 women at the front desk looked at me like I was an alien. I got up to the desk and I had to introduce myself. No greeting, nothing. I was in incredible pain and was hoping someone could pull one of my wisdom teeth with an exposed nerve. (They couldn’t but referred me to someone who could who didn’t have any openings for 2 weeks.) Dr. Ashley Bensen sent me off with antibiotics and said take Tylenol. I called hours later telling them I was still in pain and couldn’t eat. Was told to wait for my antibiotics to kick in and I should feel better by tomorrow afternoon. I had one of the worst nights. I was very upset…could not eat or sleep. I couldn’t go to the ER bc my husband was out of town. I was in no shape to drive. BARBARIC! Edit: Office manager dropped me as a patient after this review was posted. To think any patient would be back after that experience is laughable. (The dental assistant was super sweet.) Edit: eight months later and I came across my review again. I’m still confused why I was treated so poorly by the front desk and not helped when I called after my appointment. It would be nice if your office responded to reviews, especially all of these negative reviews and not simply drop a patient bc you can’t handle hearing about something your office created.

Positive experience: I used to love coming here. Dr. Booher is the best! I came to Associates in Family Dentistry from 1999 to 2018 and in the time I had missed 7 appointments so they put me on same day appointment only, I would understand that had I been a patient for a year or 2 but 19 years?!?!?!?!I work a 9-5 job and they expect me to call and see if they happen to have an appointment that same day, that doesn't really work for most of us. I called today to schedule an appointment to get my veener fixed when i called I talked to 2 different ladies that said they could schedule me on Friday at 11:30 because my tooth was broke but i would have to make an appointment for my cleaning ok perfect, i called back after i printed my insurance card and a different lady said no I would have to call and make the same day appointment. When I called today I kinda felt ashamed and honestly embarrassed with the ladies in the office tone, I guess if you miss appointments this is the way you are treated . I asked for my records and she said they were destroyed. All I wanted was a picture of my veneers so I could take to another dentist so they could replicate the previous one. Definitely call and reschedule/cancel your appts, I was told it didn't matter how long you have been a patient there but how many appointments you missed so loyalty doesn't matter here at all, miss some appointments and your done with future appointments only same day

Fantastic experience: My experience is always excellent at AFD. I have referred many people to the care of the staff. From cleanings/whitening, fillings, root canals, and extractions they have been wonderful.

Negative experience: I took my kids here for over 10 years. Every six months like clockwork. X-rays once a year, cleanings and exams twice a year. My kids never had cavities. February of 2023 my kids had X-rays, cleanings, and exams done by Booher. No cavities. Booher retires later that same year and the new dentist that replaced him discovered multiple cavities in my kids’ teeth. I was in disbelief and needed another opinion. I took it upon myself to recover the X-rays from February and other dentists confirmed there were cavities in those X-rays that should have been taken care of by Booher but he simply put sealant over the cavities instead of fixing the cavities. Now the sealants are breaking off and there is a bunch of decay under the sealants. I have come to the conclusion that Booher was just letting my kids’ teeth rot. He was putting sealant over cavities not filling the cavities properly. He was ignoring cavities and was negligent. I am happy he has retired bc he was not doing his due diligence as a dentist and I trusted him for over a decade with my kids’ teeth. Now I’m having to pay thousands of dollars to root canal and crown teeth on my children that could have been prevented had Booher been a trustworthy dentist. I am extremely disappointed.

Fantastic experience: The staff here is very professional & polite! I came in today to repair my temp cap for my crown replacement & got taken in within 10 mins after I checked in. The tech, Brandy/ Brandie, was very pleasant & full of positive energy. Luckily I still had my temp cap & Brandy/ Brandie was able to work her magic. 10-15 mins later, if even that, I was out the door with my temp repair repaired. Thank you Brandy/ Brandie for your excellent service & positive attitude/ energy.

Fantastic experience: We have lived in Avon for well over 16yrs and had a few dentist office. However, we will go no where else but here. This office truly is the best. The staff are amazing. Everyone makes you feel welcomed. The moment you walk in you feel it in the atmosphere. The staff are very knowledgeable, professional and personable. The way they treat you with individualized care for your needs is something we had been looking for. There is no get them in just to get them out feeling. From the time you enter and greeted your experience is based on you and what’s needed. They really take the time in the visit to effectively communicate everything and make sure you are comfortable and understand. They cover a great deal of services and if they don’t they offer wonderful referrals to near by offices. Truly, if you’re looking for an office in or around the Avon area I highly recommend this office.

Fantastic experience: I give five stars to the front desk (I don’t recall the lady’s name but she always helps me, is very professional and ALWAYS friendly) and the hygienist, Lisa. These ladies are amazing at what they do, I love how Lisa always asks how my dad is doing. The dentists are great from my brief interactions with them. I would give two stars though on scheduling for the simple fact these guys are so unbelievably busy they schedule out nearly a year at a time which makes it difficult to plan and schedule accordingly. It would be nice if it was easier to get in for routine appointments. With that said, the lady at the front desk I feels like she does everything in her power to get me on the schedule utilizing the cancellation list.

Positive experience: Don’t normally have any issues with them ( i take my children) but my oldest complained the dds was rough this time ( new dds for kids) when offered flouride- i accepted as long as insurance covered, come to find out I had to pay out of pocket at end bc it doesn’t. Also was told I owed a balance from previous visit, when I asked for what she could not provide me with anything so the price just reflected todays visit. Change in staff on kids side& was reminded at check in THEY DO NOT TAKE HOOSIER HEALTH INSURANCE ANYMORE. which we do not have anyway, but they are definitely worried about that. Not sure whats going on but definitely felt more welcome by dds staff then receptionist.
