Negative experience: Made an appointment online. Filled out all the paperwork ahead of time. Got text confirming and reminding me of my appointment, showed up 15 minutes early to make sure everything was done being a first time patient. And was told since I didn’t return a voice mail they cancelled my appointment. Will be finding new dentist

Negative experience: Very disappointing experience with Aspen Dental. My wife went in because they were advertising a $29 promotion exam, but she ended up walking out with a bill of nearly $300. No dental work was performed. She was essentially just evaluated and given a prescription for amoxicillin. My wife's first language is not English and we felt deceived. Wouldn't recommend them to anyone who doesn't like surprise bills.

The dentist and dental assistants were patient, kind and good communicators. The front desk was so welcoming and the office manager made sure I had the best treatment plan WITHIN my budget. Negative experience: The actual dental staff themselves were super friendly. I didn't know what was going on most of the time. People were in and out of the room in a hurried fashion. I was spoken too quickly and then told that I'd be taking care of very confused on the information. I was given as far as costs. And then when I was brought to the manager of the facility, she was anything but friendly, very condescending and rude. And as soon as she found out I didn't have enough money, there was no explanation or nothing. I was just told that I could leave with no other questions. Answered, I was just shown to the door I was extremely disappointed and I've never been treated as. Terribly as I had there, I left in tears still in pain, not their fault. I understand but does it manager was extremely rude. Darcy or darley or darlene, or something she made me feel like a piece of dirt on the floor

Negative experience: Called month ahead. Verified my insurance was in network. It was. After appt. They said couldn’t find or verify my insurance. It was my first time at Aspen. After a couple days still couldn’t verify ins. I called my insurance company and and they said yes Aspen is in network. The ins. Company recommended another dental provider. They said they know of issues and problems with Aspen. So I changed provider. Makes me wonder what other mistakes will they make. Also looked online. Found many complaints and bad reviews.

Negative experience: I had a very disappointing experience at Aspen Dental in Owatonna and would not recommend this office. I came in with tooth pain and was treated poorly from the start. I was only about 2 minutes late, and the front desk staff spoke to me in a rude and unprofessional tone, immediately calling me out and making me feel unwelcome. During the visit, I felt rushed and there was little to no concern shown for my pain. Instead of taking time to understand my situation, the focus seemed to go straight to recommending crowns without clearly explaining all available options. I also asked for a copy of my X-rays and was refused, which made it difficult for me to seek a second opinion. To be clear, I was not looking for free services—I was fully prepared to pay. I was simply expecting respectful treatment, proper communication, and transparency, which I did not receive. There is a clear need for improvement in professionalism and patient care at this location. I cannot recommend this office based on my experience

Positive experience: As expected except for the lady at the end (I think she’s the owner) that was more like a rude salesman than anything else. Presented a “treatment plan” that would’ve put me into debt while I had nothing wrong with my teeth, just came in for a check up. She was super pushy & condescending, very clear she just wants to make money off you. Everyone else was nice & professional

They got me in right away and then scheduled two extractions a few days later. Awesome staff, little to no wait time, great service, top notch technology and priority scheduling due to my cancer status. Can't thank them enough for all their care and professional services. Highly recommended.

Negative experience: I had an absolutely terrible experience. I was given a quote to start my dental implant journey with them and had paid everything up front according to the original quote before my first bone graft surgery. I just called to get the next step scheduled and they told me I had a balance to pay if i wanted to move forward with the rest of the process? They changed my original quote and told me it’s going to cost more now. I’m very disappointed and feel as though they should stand behind an original quote especially being that I already started the process. I now have to start this whole process over with a different dental group and pay more. I would not recommend going here especially when it comes to major dental procedures.

Negative experience: Absolute worst dental experience of my life. Seriously dehumanizing. Avoid this place! I literally felt like livestock in a barn yard. I sat in a room for over half an hour and people came and went and never even spoke to me. The nurse or assistant or whoever she was (no one introduced themselves) kept walking in and out. Saying nothing. The hygienist came in stabbed my gums, didn't say ANYTHING to me, literally then ran out of the room. I then sat there for 30 minutes. No communication. The nurse walked in to grab a mirror and tried to walk out again with no communication. I said "is anyone going to talk to me?" And she then told me the hygienist would come back and discuss cleaning options then I could have to schedule it. So they made me come in TWICE and I was going to have to schedule a cleaning then wait until after the cleaning was done to schedule the fillings. They made me come in for an exam, then made me come in to be looked at by a hygienist, and they don't schedule fillings until after you'd had a cleaning done so they were stringing me along for visit after visit. I was irate. I told her I was told I would get a cleaning then fillings if there was time today. And said "I don't know who told you that" and I told at her "I missed driving my mom to the doctor two weeks in a row because of this clinic for NOTHING" all the while being manipulated into thinking they were going to fix my broken painful tooth! The dentist I saw did not introduce himself. Did not ask consent before JAMMING his hands in my mouth. Did not speak to me AT ALL other than to belittle my questions. The scheduling person didn't have any knowledge on types of fillings or types of crowns available. The initial scheduling person told me fillings cost between $160-190 per tooth then they tell me EACH of my fillings are going to be $360 for the most flimsy plastic fillings that I just had crumble out of my mouth after 2 years. Every single person on this staff needs to attend sensitivity training. Dentists need to treat their patients like human beings. If someone is going to literally put their hands in your mouth they need to understand how triggering that can be to survivors of assault. Avoid this dental office if you have any self respect.

Fantastic experience: The dental staff at Aspen Dental treated me with the urgency my situation deserved And was wonderful about walking me through my options for my dental emergency. I will definitely be recommending Aspen Dental to all my family and friends!

Fantastic experience: Well first I did not have to wait long before I was taken into the room. Then Jenny the dental assistant asked me questions and checked what needs to be done on my dentures and by the time she called the doctor in I was all ready for him to adjust my dentures. I've always enjoyed having Jenny as a dental assistant while I've been there. This is an old post that never got posted! But as for today got right in Dr Thompson saw me within 3 minutes and so far the work he did in my dentures is working out. Thank you very much

Fantastic experience: Dr. Thompson, GOAT (Greatest Of All Time)!!! I highly recommend him and the Owatonna ASPEN office for your dental needs! He is genuinely a gentle, sincere, and highly ethical dentist. He takes his time to listen to your needs and makes sure to take care of them, you can tell he cares about his patients!

Fantastic experience: Had the best moment. I moved to Cincinnati and wasn’t happy with the service at the Aspen office in Cincinnati and made the decision to return back to my Aspen Owatonna office and drive the 10 hours because their service was very warming and welcoming not like the Cincinnati office-very rude and unpleasant staff in Cincinnati. I love my Owatonna office and especially the dentist and the tech “Louie” who fixed the mess that the Cincinnati office created!

Negative experience: Where to begin. I felt like I was being sold a brand new car instead of getting an emergency extraction. Front desk professional. The woman who took my xrays, etc, she was great! The hygenist and dentist well not the greatest! With a 10 year medical journey, being lectured by someone who I saw for MAYBE 10 minutes, unprofessional. I know my teeth are bad, but now was a good time to get this taken care of. This young man does not know the last 10 years of my life, nor the treatments I have endured, and I have had to put my teeth on the back burner for all of it!!! I was in tears when he left the room. I do not need to explain anything to him at all. My life choices, my health, unless it pertains to my extraction, which I am cleared to do by my surgeon. Now for the lady who tries to sell you that car. Not sure of her name, but I am assuming she possibly could be the office manager. My husband and I have Delta Dental. He goes to the dentist in our home town, which after this, I will be doing the same. Tried to explain some things to her after being told that a 17000.00 bill was in order, but I was interrupted 2 times. It was only until I told her to let me speak did she back off. She is RUDE to say the least. Never ran my insurance, blamed that on the gals in the front, (which btw I tried to explain this to her also). I will go as far as to say I am retired from the legal field. In my field the pressuring (which she is pretty good at) and people knowing their rights, well she needs some training by HR to tone it back and be more professional and not to profess that she does know it all, because she does not by any means. In reading reviews from this office, it seems as if this is a recurring problem. She told me that my insurance does not cover a 4500.00 deep cleaning Well they do! I investigated all avenues this morning with my provider and also spoke to my husbands Dentist office. Also spoke with UHC which we have amazing health insurance. I know that you do not file claims for medical, but that due to my health, it would take one letter from my surgeon and main provider to get this covered. I can afford to pay the bill and be reimbured later. Which by the way she did tell me that my health provider will not cover any of it. Again speaking out of context and not allowing the patient who pays your wages to investigate and get all of the facts. I have my appointment tommorrow morning at 9 for my extraction. We will see if it gets cancelled or not. So with this review, if you are reading this, please investigate before you sign, finance it, whatever this lady tries to sell you. You have rights and options. So please explore them before you sign and committ.

Negative experience: Rude assistants my mouth was in a lot of pain when I went in and they didn’t do anything for it just prescribed antibiotics. Horrible place never again.

Negative experience: I've spent a lot of money for nothing I live on disability and was blessed with a gift to help pay for my partial that there saying I can't wear. After having 2 teeth pulled and special partial because I'm allergic to metal now there saying I have to get all my bottom teeth pulled. I did everything they told me to even bought a $30 tube of tooth paste. Now they want me to have them surgeylicty removed. I can't afford that plus a new full bottom denture the money spent could have been used to get a well of clean water in Africa or a home built in Haiti. I've been praying and they new I'm also allergic to the denture adhesive. I'm so upset I've been sick to my stomach since I was last seen. I will continue to pray ✝️ for guidance wisdom and strength. Please look at other places and get 2nd opinion before you end up spreading so Far $4986.00 for nothing!!!✝️ Please Please go anywhere else before you add to the Gold chains around the Dentist Neck. Or more Gold rings on Financial lady's fingers. They don't care about you personally or do they care to help you save money.... Drive to Waseca Family Dentistry better, caring kind and treat you with respect. And much more affordable!!!!!

Went again on 3-25-25 Louie made a new bottom anchored denture for me , fitted it. It was perfect have had further problems. Thank your so much Louie, Keven, Doc and everyone at Aspen Dental in Owatonna. John just had his anchored denture checked and adjusted, we were in and out in 5 minutes, great job Keven. Fantastic experience: From the front desk to the billing department, they knew their work inside and out. Shout out to Dr Medina and Kevin. Those two made my visit amazing and less scary. I am gonna take away a half point for not getting a lollipop at the end though

Negative experience: Nothing that I was told upfront has turned out to be true! From billing to scheduling right up to the final results of my teeth. Now I'm left 4500 in debt and a set of teeth I'm not 100% happy with and they aren't willing to redo them, even though there are a 100% satisfaction or money back advertisements all over the office and on my paperwork I signed as well. I will never not regret going to this place. A total joke.

Fantastic experience: I had a dental emergency and needed a tooth extracted I called aspen dental and they were able to get me in the next day and then get it extracted as well. Everybody was super nice and so helpful with what was happening and the dentist that pulled it is a great man and is super considerate of his patients and making sure they are comfortable before starting. Negative experience: Good experience... $13,291.00 for the cost almost put me into cardiac arrest☹️ I went in with a broken tooth. Thinking maybe $1,500.00 & came out with 7X as MUCH... I'm on $1200 Soc Sec a month & have no idea what to even think about that Bill I'M STILL IN SHOCK I'll be checking around because this pricing is UNBELIEVEABLE... TOTALLY RIDICULOUS

Negative experience: My partner made me an appointment for this place because she was told that they take my insurance. I walked into the place before my scheduled time, and was treated as a walk in, with no acknowledgement about this being a predetermined visit. Upon presenting my insurance I was told they weren't sure if they took it, but to wait around and ask my questions. I was called back, and the actual staff were very nice and cordial. Once the dentist came in, he told me about some options I had, but only presented the most expensive ones. When I knew about the cheapest option he tried to dissuade me from it. I mentioned I'd like whatever option I could get through my insurance, and the attitude shifted to dismissive. After, I was walked to an office and talked to what I assume is their billing lady. She told me a price, said they needed the money upfront, and that the price reflected after insurance did their part. I asked her if they took my insurance, and she had to refer to the screen instead of knowing up front even though she gave a post-insurance price. Not having that money at the time, I I asked for a printout of the work, and she made sure to take off the pricing so I didn't know how much each bit cost. I asked if I owe anything for the consultation, X-rays etc., and was told that insurance would handle it. A month later I get a bill for the things I was told was handled. I did not feel comfortable that this business cares about me, just what they can get from my wallet.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly and work well with clients for financing. very friendly people as well who took the time to explain everything while working at the same time.with my professional experience with what I do I understand sometimes that is not possible for people to do.I felt they were professional and efficient in the knowledge of what each person does.

Positive experience: Dr Thompson and Medina are good people. I have had a lot of work done in the past year. Sometimes when they're overly busy, they lose a little of their hospitality, but when they're not swamped, they really take the time to understand how you're doing.

Positive experience: Dr. D fitted me for lower mouth guard. It was super tight . Difficult to get off popped up against my front bridge and hurt . Second i could not get out without pain on permanent retainer left side. Very disappointed in use picture images to make bottom guard instead foam impressions like I have done in the past. Looked at pictures…still not sure it i see images of lower retainer sticking out …thus why it hurt taking off. Get foam guard may 7 hope it hurts less.

Negative experience: People were amazing, the dentist was outstanding with dumbing things down to a normal person level. Mostly went in to kind of get my check up and was hearing all these different terms. Felt like a mental isolation with hearing RCB, DCB, from one to what felt like one hundred. Appointment was also at 930am which was fine, the television they leave you with is thoughtful, but had some politics. Pros: Office was clean, staff were very polite, used simpler term when they were done. Cons: Shouldn't be dealing with politics at not even 10am (personal take), and holy smokes the pricing and financial situation for myself was eye opening. If you can afford them, go for it. I'm going to pop in and request some things and probably be done with this clinic on my end. Edit from 3 star down to 2. Debated on lower: So, recieve a letter stating I had a balance due which was waived first visit and fully covered. Now out of pocket they requested $168.73 - from 3/28/2025 which I am guessing was because I requested my x-Rays be released to me. Stated on appointment/consultation day was "nothing owed" which was false. They will release your x-rays very easily, but send you a bill even after everything. I did request a receipt for that day and was told "no". They were very happy to try to get me to finance my oral care which is astronomical/extortionate. Never going back post payment. Disappointed, thumbs down, and never recommending.

Fantastic experience: The most friendly and professional staff ever! I was one of the hundreds of people that was a victim of Schmidt dentistry in Austin Minnesota. And I had no idea that this was what a dental clinic was supposed to be like!

Negative experience: they laughed at me and shamed me for my teeth. They scam with their "deep cleanings" making you come back 3 to 4 times before they will even do the cleanings waste your time and money. They front of the office is rude as well. They dont want to help you. I WOULD RATHER GO TO MY BARBER TO GET TEETH WORK DONE AT THIS POINT.

Negative experience: I would leave zero stars if I could. I needed work done ASAP. I called in and ask if we could get work done today and they said yes. when I got they there, they didn't listen to anything I said and told me they could do anything. I wasted time and money to get laughed at and shame by the dentist. they told me that I need to get a tooth removed when I was there they could of saved my tooth but they couldnt do it with out a deep clean I couldnt get the time off. Its crazy i was sitting in the chair needed a tooth to be save and they choose not to save it. I WAS SITTING IN THE CHAIR!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!! I have never felt more disrespected and shame. They are a scam with their prices and change the cost of things by the second they dont work with you or your schedule

Negative experience: Total confusion and disappointment apparently having a corporate office setting appointments for a local location is a bad idea. I arrived the sign on the door said closed, thought I'd check and door was unlocked. I had requested an appointment for cleaning the mounting implants for my denture and they thought I was there for initial consultation for dentures. Total miss from the original call for the scheduling

Positive experience: I had a quick assessment done for a bad tooth ache, unfortunately they couldn't do anything to help at the moment, but i was scheduled for the end if the next month to get it fixed.. and then i had to pay for it today. -not the day i got the surgery done. Then something weird happened where they forgot to add my insurance, so i already paid with my health card, and now waiting for insurance to be added before paying for the rest.. for a procedure that has yet to be done in a month advanced? I haven't experienced something like that before, maybe its a new thing? Staff was very friendly and helpful anyways, but definitely a scary way of going round with payment.

Fantastic experience: Aspen Dental fit my daughter in for an emergency toothache exam. They were professional and friendly. Great service! The dentist was knowledgeable and compassionate. I definitely would recommend their practice.

Fantastic experience: Had came in for a tooth extraction on lower molar on bottom left side numbed me up with novacaine about 3 times never felt pain. And tooth had came out. Doctors gave exam and exrays prior which was good found tooth was fractured to the root. Needed to come out. Same day as exam which was good cuz i live 40 minutes away. Doctors went through a plan insurance covered it. Thank you. My jaw still feels a little in pain since its the same day but resting now. Not much pain after 9 hours.

Fantastic experience: They were wonderful at Aspen dental. I went in with real bad tooth pain. First they got me enrolled in their discount program for $50 since I don't have insurance. Their discount program ended up saving me hundreds of dollars for a couple extractions! The dentist and his assistant were very nice. Very good experience, will recommend them to friends and family. I'm looking forward to going back in to get the extractions done.

Fantastic experience: Great place and super friendly. Walked in with no appointment and a broken wisdom tooth and they got me set up asap and got that tooth out. Today is the day after and I have very little pain. Great place, humorous, considerate and professional. 50 stars for these guys
