Aspen Dental - Suffolk, VA

Fantastic experience: I went to Aspen dental inquiring about dentures. after consultation, I decided on pulling all my teeth and to get dentures. I had like 20 teeth pulled top and bottom. After the consultation, I was told that I was going to pay 1300 out of 23000 which was great for me. I was told that my insurance would cover the rest and all was good. All was good until it was time to get my permanents in. They then told me that my insurance was not going to pay all and I would have to pay 6800. There's no way I could pay it. I asked why didn't you get approval first then go from there. I could have done the top this year and the bottom next year. Now I am stuck with temporary teeth probably for a couple years with no idea what to do. I try calling them, but they put me on hold then hang up after 30 minutes or longer. I definitely would not recommend this dentist.

Fantastic experience: People have always made comments on how bad Aspen Dental is and to never go there. I decided to give it a chance and went to the one on Main street. It was the best experience! Everyone was so nice, everything was explained in depth and never made me feel bad about not being able to see a dentist as often as i should. I dont have the best smile and they never made me feel bad about it. Some dentist have made me feel horrible. It was even discussed and a plan to help me feel good about my smile again. Even went as far as to help me get approved for monthly payments! Now that I have Dental insurance and can afford to go ive made more appointments for the future. Thank you Aspen Dental for making me feel good and not judging me.

The hygienist was very professional and made sure he was comfortable. She explained each step of the process very thoroughly. It was a very positive experience for his first visit at this practice and facility on Main Street in Suffolk, VA.

Fantastic experience: I enjoyed the excellent service from the front desk, young ladies, the X-rays tech, the dentist, and the Financial person person everything was explained to me before, and what to expect I highly appreciate the Hygienist, I was going to get an appointment a few weeks from my visit, but she the hygienist took the time and saw me the same day. She had excellent customer service. Everything she did was explained to me she was very gentle she explained everything that was going on with my gums and teeth and because i have sensitive teeth she put paste on it through examination would not be as painful. I do appreciate that. I had not had that done before. She was very informative on the importance of hygienic care of your teeth and mouth, and she recommended a new toothpaste that she gave me to try. She did say my gums and teeth were not that bad. I do apologize for forgetting your name. I give Aspen Dental 5 stars for their excellent service.

Negative experience: Came to this office as a new patient around 6 months ago. I already knew that I needed a lot of work done that I had been putting off for far too long. Initially, I had a good experience at my first appointment. Everyone was very attentive, we developed a treatment plan, and scheduled all of my future appointments that day. Then they dropped the bomb that I can't pay for the work as it is done, I have to pay half up front to be able to continue. This should have been my first warning. At my first treatment appointment, the hygienist was lovely, but when the cleaning was done and it was time to see the Dr, it went downhill. Once I was seated in the chair, the assistant put a swab full of lidocaine into my cheek then walked out of the room for 10 minutes, meanwhile I am sitting there losing the ability to move my lips and control my drool without having any sort of cup, napkin, or even the little bib that is normally placed over you chest. Once she came back, she didn't even speak to me, just took out the swab and walked back out. A little bit later, the Dr came in, gave me the numbing shots, said he would be back, then left again. After 10 more minutes, the assistant came back, finished setting up the tray, the Dr came in, started working in my mouth to fill 3 cavities, then was "done" in just over 10 minutes! This might seem like excellent efficiency to some, except I have always had tooth problems since childhood so I am very, VERY familiar with the flow at a dentist office, not to mention my mother was the office manager for a dentist office my entire childhood so I spent most of my free time after school there. The warning bells in my head immediately started going off. I was still numb, so I couldn't tell at first the quality of the work that was done, but it very quickly became apparent. Two of the fillings weren't smoothed well enough, causing a cut and sore on both my tongue and cheek. The third filling was in my molar and wasn't correctly aligned with my bite. For the next 2 weeks, I had significant tooth and jaw pain from this. I could understand a dentist not making a filling perfect every now and then, but this was purely a lack of care and working too fast. Once they had received my money, they just wanted to get me in and out as fast as possible, sacrificing quality to continue their revolving door of patients. Despite my frustration with that appointment, I was not going to have to go find another dentist and wait forever to get another new patient appointment, so I went to my following appointment and explained the issue with fillings to the dentist. He COMPLETELY dismissed me and told me "pain and tenderness is normal" to which I responded "absolutely, but not to this degree. This is just poor workmanship." He fixed the cavities begrudgingly, and despite my better judgement, I allowed him to do another two fillings as was already scheduled. Again, he was in and out of my mouth in under 15 minutes, but this time, thankfully only one of the fillings was terrible. The filling does not actually fill the entire cavity. He drilled it out to below the gum line, but only filled it up to the gum line, so now I have a very tender spot below the gum where the drilled out cavity is very sensitive, causing pain when eating, brushing, just existing.... Then the cherry on top. I had my second stage appointment with the hygienist scheduled since that very first appointment, but come 5 days before my appointment, I get a confirmation request except it is for a different time. When I called to correct it, I was told that the appointment had to be changed because of a meeting, however I was never notified when the change happened, no call to ask to reschedule or even a courtesy call to say they changed my appointment, just changed it without consent. Of course with such short notice, I wasn't able to take off work to make the appointment and when speaking to the receptionist about it, she became very rude and dismissive.

Fantastic experience: 10/10 experience so far. I avoided the dentist for so long and everyone here have made the experience easy. From Ke, Brianna, Dr. Tawana, Heather, and Dr. Aslam. I had my wisdom teeth removed and Dr Aslam made me feel at ease and did an amazing job. I was good as new by day 3. Same with Heather, she did my deep cleaning and it was practically painless. All in all happy I chose to keep it easy with Aspen.

Fantastic experience: I had a dental appointment today and I had my teeth cleaned by the BEST ORAL HYGIENIST in the World. Ms. Heather was so kind and so gentle with cleaning my teeth. She listens to you, shared her testimony but most of all SHE CARES! I believe her loving kindness defines who she is “BEAUTIFUL” inside and out! Thank you Heather for making my visit today such a honor to WANT TO COME BACK. I highly recommend her to anyone who needs their teeth cleaned. Blessings!

Negative experience: This dentist office doesn't care about you they only care about the money they can get out of you! You have a scheduled appointment to get work done and they cancel my appointment because the dentist there today can not do the work. Then try to schedule it for weeks later. Do they not realize people have jobs and take time off to go to appointments. Now I have to miss another day of work because the dentist there today can not do their job.

Negative experience: They need to change their address because they dont do what they say when it comes to emergency walk-ins.

My hygienist Heather is incredibly thorough, gentle, and always takes the time to explain everything clearly so I feel comfortable and informed. You can tell she truly cares about her patients and takes pride in doing the job right. I’ve never felt rushed, and the attention to detail really shows. I won’t see anyone else — highly recommend!

Negative experience: This was the weirdest dental experience I’ve ever had. I would give 1 star, but they didn’t cause any pain (because my teeth weren’t really cleaned). I felt so uncomfortable being left in silence for majority of my visit, the dentist didn’t tell me what she saw on my X-rays - only the staff, and I guess it was a big deal that they were able to clean my teeth the same day as “inspection”. I want to highlight that these things are not normal in any dental practice I’ve been to.

Negative experience: These people are a total rip off. I scheduled my daughter‘s appointment on the phone and was told that all I would have to pay was $29.95 that will also include her cleaning but when I got to the appointment, I was told that the total cleaning and exam with x-rays was going to be $177. I had traveled a hour and 15 minutes just for this appointment and I believe that they should warn you before you go to these appointments that the price that they quote you on the phone is not the price when you get there. Total Disappointment and the lady didn’t even really clean my daughter’s teeth total . If I could’ve gave them a zero stars I would have.

Negative experience: kept rescheduling appointments because the dentist is unreliable. rescheduled on my daughters birthday, just to try and reschedule again. No. still waiting for our refund. definitely need it for bills instead of waiting for someone who wants to work on patients.

Negative experience: A waste of time. Went as new patient, luckily I was informed of them having a temporary dentist. The temp dentist was lovely, other staff members were present but disconnected. They weren’t welcoming or social. I’ve been to more advanced offices but they didn’t have any sooner appointments so I came here. I was left in a room for 40mins waiting and was told the temp dentist would not be covered under my insurance so there’s that, nothing but X-rays done and oh my that took 7mins. I wouldn’t recommend the downtown Suffolk location. Maybe another location would be better. Please read the reviews and call ahead to ask questions.

Fantastic experience: I was very apprehensive about going to a new dentistry and getting a tooth pulled. It's like making an appointment to get punched in the face. However, my dental assistant Ms. Ke immediately made me feel like I had been a lifelong patient. I was able to get Xrays, evaluated, and have my tooth extracted all in the same day! It all took less than 2hrs thanks to Ms. Ke and Dr. Ali. No pain, quick, clean, easy. 6 out of 5 stars, will be going back to fix my cavities and all future problems. Thank you guys again for getting me in on such short notice.

Negative experience: A complete waste of time I’ve done everything they asked and I’m in excruciating pain. I walked in looking for help and they told me Thursday if tooth is still bothering they’ll pull it. Tuesday I woke up in agony called they moved the appointment up to Wednesday today. I’m in high hope the nightmare is over no I get there today this arrogant doctor is trying to tell me I need another root canal on the tooth no I don’t want that I have already had one in 2024 I want it to be removed this is my mouth. He goes on to say well you’re going to loose your root canal and crown I just walked out. Once again this is my mouth I want it out. It was set to be pulled tomorrow now he’s insisting I wait additional days God forbid he’s in agony and told to wait smh. I have not slept in 48 hours because they keep giving me the run around instead of pulling my tooth. Do not waste your time with them !!!!!!! I was able to get in with another wonderful dentist willing to do as I requested.

During servicing, she could appear not friendly, contrast she is very focus, appearing reliable, confident doing her job! I loved it. Aside from that she informed others of staff shortages and very clear in her attempts to organize and manage. With me she was Candid, clear, and functional. What an office needs. Integrity!! Fantastic experience: My doctor was Dr.Ali and he was the best and his assistant Ke was the best 10/10! Services were fast with getting 3 wisdom teeth pulled.

Negative experience: I went there for an appointment three weeks ago (maybe more) which was super easy to make but I was prescribed Antibiotics and they still haven’t called in my prescription and it’s been three weeks. I’ve called the office three times about this and even the receptionist sounded baffled this hasn’t been handled yet. Not only that but when you leave a message no one calls you back you have to call them again to make sure they even got it. The front desk staff is very nice and understanding however the fact that I’ve been waiting for antibiotics for three weeks and they just seem to not care about getting this solved is crazy to me. I was even told they would call my pharmacy for me because it must be some kind of mistake but no such call has been made and I have no prescriptions sent in from them at all.

Fantastic experience: I came in to Aspen for my initial check up and had a great experience! Everyone was friendly and informative and moved me right on through my checkup. I was very satisfied. Ke took care of my X-rays and was very efficient and kind. Hopefully she’s around when you come in! Scheduling my cleaning next!

Negative experience: Made an appointment for a cleaning as a new patient. Received a call from them in the morning asking me to come in an hour earlier. No problem. Get there and had to wait 45 minutes (so essentially my original appointment time). X-rays went well. Saw the dentist and he told me no cavities and my teeth looked good. Hygienist came in (with a slide show) to tell me I had serious gum disease and needed a deep cleaning and the office manager would go over my insurance. Office manager tells me I need a $2400 deep cleaning that my insurance doesn't cover. I then said I'll just have a regular cleaning this visit and schedule the other procedure for my next appointment. Was told that couldn't be done because once the hygienist decides that's what I need she would lose her license by giving me a different type of cleaning. Total BS!

Fantastic experience: The oral surgeon was extremely kind, thoughtful and helpful. He explained procedure carefully and made sure I was numb before drilling for the implant.

Negative experience: I really wanted to love this office…, first making appointment online was easy. Day of appointment nervous as usual at any dentist office. Everyone was nice from the front to the back. Dentist was not welcoming at all… I didn’t even know that was a fill in or temporary Dentist…. The reason for coming was to get established with a Dentist ‍♀️ and a problem I was having. So at checkout, I was informed that the actual dentist would be there on my next visit and I will be reevaluate with that then that right with me but either way I made the appointment which had to be broken up into two appointment now I am on blood thinner. They didn’t tell me to stop my blood thinners before my appointment or stop it a few days before it didn’t say they was gonna call my primary care to stop my blood thinners no nothing so I called them to say something about it. They gonna tell me where do you want to stop your blood thinners? I’m like what in the world ‍♀️ That was my experience with them. I just decided to go with another office. They will have you messed up. I feel a waste of time.

However Mikayla took the time to call multiple oral surgery offices to find me an appointment to have them removed next day. Thank you for taking the time to care about your patients. Fantastic experience: My nurse was absolutely awesome . I had a broken tooth which was extremely painful and she took extra time to make sure she didn’t touch it or try not to. I would highly recommend Aspen Demtal in Suffolk, the Dentist was also very nice and didn’t touch the tooth but due to some health issues had to be postponed on the procedure. Looking forward to seeing this nice nurse again.

Negative experience: It’s frustrating that I feel as though I wasted my time coming because I was only trying to get a routine cleaning before my insurance open enrollment so I could go back to my other hygienist. I feel like they tried to get me to come to the appointment so they could charge my insurance twice because no one at any point told me the first appointment was only an evaluation appointment and that I have to schedule a whole seperate cleaning appointment for another time. I’ve never experienced that where the appointment is separate, I have always been able to have an eval and get a cleaning same day, and it really upset me that I feel as though That was not communicated and I wasted my time. I will not be back and I will just wait until open enrollment comes where I could go back to where i usually go.

Positive experience: Front desk employees need to exercise extreme caution when speaking with/sharing patient information in 'open lobby' office. HIPAA was also created for the protection of the clients' personal and private information. Also, when clients come in with pain, it is normal to react to that pain when your tools come in contact. Saying things like, "You don't have to scream" is hostile language...especially if the customer didn't scream. It is not empathetic nor professional in the line of healthcare.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely changed the game today. First ever visit with aspen, and not only was enrollment easy and fast, but so was the actual service. Immediately took X-rays, and 2 short minutes until the dr began extracting my problem tooth. The biggest thank you goes out to this locations customer service.

From the greeting at the front Mikayla she wear many hats she was the glue that held it all together from the beginning to the end she explained everything step by step once I was in with the dentist she was right there all the way to explaining my care plan then to top it off she went over my financial plan as well and gave me options that made it affordable for my personal situation then there was Bri that took all x rays and imaging and triaged me, she was very friendly and polite, and hospitable, she had such a calming spirit, then there was Tyler he was in charge of the lab and his hands are magical this trio was definitely heaven sent, I came for a emergency visit but ended up becoming a long term patient, please check them out you will not be disappointed ♥️
