Fantastic experience: I had a cleaning and a full head X-ray. It's good to see that there were no problems. He noticed a potential problem with a space near my bridge. If a cavity develops on the tooth, the whole bridge would need to be replaced $$$$. I can only imagine what it would cost today.

While passing through Rockland on my sailboat, I needed urgent dental care—a filling had fallen out two weeks earlier, and the pain was starting to set in. I called Dr. Sanju Basi’s office, explained my situation, and they graciously fit me in right away. From the moment I walked in, Dr. Basi and his entire team were warm, welcoming, and professional. Dr. Basi was not only kind and compassionate but also incredibly skilled—he fixed my tooth quickly, and it’s the first dental procedure I’ve had with absolutely no pain or discomfort. If I ever make Rockland my home, Dr. Basi will be my dentist without question. I highly recommend him and his practice!

Fantastic experience: The team here was so great with my toddlers for their first dentist appointment! When you first walk in, the office has a very welcoming feel. The waiting room is equipped with toys such as blocks and magnetiles as well as books for younger patients that prepare them for their dental experience. When it was time for the exam, the assistants were so kind and patient with both of my kids, ensuring that they were comfortable with everything happening. Dr. Basi was very kind and took the time to explain everything happening and the tools around the office!

Negative experience: Beware of the PROPOSED Treatment Plans! They are not optional! I was forced to have a procedure that I did not consent to and had to pay a lot of $ out of pocket for a 6-month cleaning and required to pay each time going forward. Zach, the receptionist is very rude and will scream at you and roll his eyes if you question anything! ZERO stars!!

My husband had his greet and meet with him and really liked him, he explains and shows you your films and what is actually going on. I have an appt in april and I do not like going to the dentist but I believe Dr. Basi and his staff will make me feel comfortable.

Nicely decorated waiting area is like a family room. Then, the treatment rooms are modern and state of the art. Dr Basi and his staff made me feel comfortable right away. All I can say is you need to go!

Fantastic experience: When the previous dentist at Rockland Family Dentistry left, I was a bit worried. But my fears were completely gone when I met first Samantha, the oral hygienist and then Dr. Basi. Samantha is sweet, professional, knowledgeable and I feel very comfortable with her. Dr. Basi is gentle, kind, professional and thorough. He wrote a treatment plan and explained what needed to be done. He referred me to an oral surgeon for an issue that needs to be monitored and also asked me to see my primary care physician for another issue that he detected when reading the panoramic X-ray. Thank you, Dr. Basi! He made me feel at ease and who knows I might even overcome my anxiety when I visit the dentist! The young lady who adjusted my night guard, I forgot her name, did a great job and the guard fits much better. I was thrilled when she told me that there is no need to have impressions taken any longer for a new night guard in the future since they are using the latest technology at the office. And finally, Zack at the reception is friendly and helpful. I have to say the office looks great, new paint, furniture and art! I have visited the office twice. And both times were a great experience!

Fantastic experience: First time at this office as I’m a fairly new resident of the midcoast area. I had a veneer pop off and since they were not completed here in Maine I had to resort to Googling different local dentists. April at the front desk here was very kind and was able to get me on the schedule same day after I had already called a few others who only had availability ranging from several days from now to mid-September. Dr. Basi was courteous, prompt and seems to have solved my problem! Of course it’s only the first day so we shall see how it holds up (year and a half with this veneer until it came off). However, I’m very confident in his abilities and would happily return here in the future for other veneer needs.

Negative experience: You have repeatedly asked for my review so here it is. Worst, and I do mean, the worst experience ever. I went to discuss a procedure and was told I could make payments. Come to find out this employee made a mistake, they expect full payment. Well at this point, they have pulled my teeth, so I have to continue. I had an indepth conversation with the dentist who assured me that my temporary denture I could wear, not eat with. I am a counselor and it was imperative to me that i have teeth. I called them in December, they said I had two more months recovery time. Meanwhile, the temporary denture they made me never fit, I have never been able to wear it and I've been without teeth since August. Then, a week ago I got an infection in my implant. And to add insult to injury the dentist tried to tell me the denture was only for smiling. This was a total lie. The only thing she said i couldn't do with it was eat. This has been the absolute worst experience and I definitely would not recommend her. She has destroyed my self esteem, humiliated me and gave me a temporary denture that even Aspen said is the worst quality they have ever seen. So here's the review you kept hounding me for. Every single bit of it is true. I wish I had gone elsewhere. That's for damn sure.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I moved to Rockland, from MA, one year ago and needed to find a good dentist, etc. We ultimately chose Rockland Family Dentistry. I had my first appointment yesterday and was 100 percent pleased. The Doctor was kind and gentle and very thorough. The dental assistant was also very nice and explained everything that was going to happen. To top all that off, the Dental Hygienist that cleaned my teeth was the best! Very cordial to the point of fun and not one little tinge or pain. All in all, I am very pleased and would recommend them to my children and their children.

Negative experience: Not the best dentist experience I've had. This practice overcharges, they talk down to you when you show hesitation to their prices and heavily push care credit. They also didn't address my gum health concerns that are now causing me wiggly bottom teeth. They didn't do a gum health check on me even though they knew about my diabetes and the fact that I was worried about my gum health.I went somewhere else before I had my second appointment here, but I was unimpressed with their attitude and neglect on issues I brought up from the start. Try mid coast family dentist instead. At least they heard my gum issues and wanted to immediately check them to see what can be done. Also, they brushed my teeth with my brand new tooth brush they gave me to send home....never had that happen before. like..straight up opened the new tooth brush, brushed my teeth with it, and put the toothbrush back in the packaging.... I feel like they could have cleaned my teeth better too. If I wanted a gentle tooth brushing, I could just do that at home...

Theres something comforting about the energy of Rockland Family Dentistry and Dr Mahindra has something special about her. She puts a lot of positive energy into her work and it really shows.. her staff are truly exceptional as well, each in their own right. Communication is direct and easy to understand. I find myself wishing I had a reason to go again over such a plesant experience, a welcome reprieve with the state of the world. Rockland Family Dentistry is truly remarkable be it cleaning (the best cleaning I have ever had hands down..) or fillings, they make sure its done right. Disclaimer: this is 100% opinion based on personal experience. My incident occurred on a Friday evening, the worst time for such a thing to happen, and the practice was sympathetic to my plight and got me in first thing Monday morning. The staff as well as Dr. Mahajan were so kind and professional. I expressed my fear (or embarrassment?) of regular dental hygiene visits and the doctor's complete lack of judgment, along with her kind disposition is why I have now established her as my new dentist. (Oh and yes, she fixed my veneer in about 5 minutes)
