Fantastic experience: I had awful teeth for years but was terrified of the dentist. My first visit the staff were all so friendly and nonjudgmental I felt much better right away. Months later I've had a lot done and I actually enjoy going to the dentist now, believe it or not! It wasn't pain-free, but New Era did their best to make the process as comfortable as possible.

Negative experience: So many bad experiences here, telling me they preferred I got a sitter for my 5 year old but that it should be fine if I brought her, like no. Red flags all around. Also back when I brought my daughter a year ago they referred us to get fillings done elsewhere but didn’t tell us how we’d have to pay for a new exam fee anywhere else we went, need repeat X-rays elsewhere and pay out of pocket and the place was also an hour away and couldn’t even take care of her fillings same day, was told to come back but I couldn’t do that due to the drive and taking off work already, still haven’t been able to get my daughters fillings taken care of since then.. literally no heads up for what to expect, now dealing with trying to get her in somewhere that can actually sedate her for it. Meanwhile I made an appointment for myself now at this office and now I’m already being told to get a sitter preferably (like that’s even an option) & then before I can come in for my appointment I have to sign forms and consent to their 24 hour notice cancellation policy, like I can even make sure that happens as a mom. I would definitely not go here if you want a place that is understanding and respects you. Clearly they don’t care about what they put anyone through. I called them to cancel and they didn’t apologize or anything they just said “yup we canceled you” so now I have to wait even longer to get into a dentist just because this one could care less about making anything right.

Fantastic experience: Everyone was very professional, explained what would be happening. I had an under the gum cleaning with sedation, I did not experience any discomfort during or post procedure. Was a positive experience.

Fantastic experience: Today I brought in my mother who has dementia and needs new dentures after twenty years in the same pair. The lady at the front desk assisted my mom in filling out paperwork, and was so friendly and warm. Thank you! She became overwhelmed during the appointment, crying and having anxiety. Everyone was so wonderful, patient, and accommodating. Allowing us to cut the appointment short and reschedule. She left with hugs and smiles from the staff. I really appreciate everything they did today.

Fantastic experience: From beginning to end this was a very positive experience. Before I even got to my appointment the phone receptionist was very friendly and quick to respond. The front office staff were very friendly and professional. The hygienist was very thorough and made me feel at ease. As I have a great deal of anxiety going to the dentist. Negative experience: This place is flat out harming people and causing permanent pain/issues to people. The incompetence is absolutely unacceptable with the whole office. I advise you listen to the one star reviews about being harmed by this place. Me and two of my my coworkers had issues here aswell. They cracked her tooth on a small filling, then set her up for a root canal, that is not a coincidence. My other co-worker cannot eat on a whole side of his mouth a year later after some small cavities that needed to be filled. Aswell as me, after a couple small fillings I had a bad gut feeling about from the start I am unable to chew with the front of my mouth without pain, and it has been 8 months. My guess from the start was that they overdrill teeth to have you ultimately come back for a root canal, or they crack the tooth because regular X-rays will not detect it, so they can get away with it easily if you try go to another dentist to find what’s wrong. Likely its connected to them knowing your state insurance will cover it the root canals, so they scam insurance at the cost of your well-being. Greed has no limits, and we all know dentist make enough money to start with. It’s a pure lack of conscious. Someone also reached out to me on facebook about them overdrilling him and his wifes teeth to set them up for needing root canals. Guy’s this is not a coincidence. This office has not even been bought out by these new people for even a year now to my understanding. There is also another one star review on here accusing them of over drilling. Insurance usually will not cover 3d X-rays, so it can be difficult to impossible to get the pain diagnosed and prove they damaged your tooth so you can sue them by having professional dentists as advocates.

Fantastic experience: Amazing dentist! With or without insurance, they work with you and are extremely helpful at getting you out of pain! I spoke with Brianna and she was amazing helping me and my fiance schedule his upcoming extractions! Brought my son here for his first dental visit and the team here is amazing!! Melanie did a great job helping us and keeping my son comfortable the whole visit!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely the best dentist I could have ever asked for!! Dr.Hussein Ayoub and his assistant Morgan are a Rock Star team. I had a trip and fell flat on my face unexpectedly and broke my two front teeth in half on a Thursday night and they had me in their chair by Tuesday morning the next week!! Upon initial examination the fall was very traumatic to my gums and teeth with thinking up to 5 to 12 teeth would need root canals and crowns. They molded me some temporary teeth for the time being so I didnt have to be embarrassed and walk around looking like an Ogar!! Although still in pain I at least could feel good about being on video calls for work and going out in public while I healed for two weeks! I returned and they only had to do two root canals and 3 crowns amazing news!! Fast forward to 5 weeks later this process is complete and I am absolutely in Love with my New Smile!! This dynamic duo, we're so compassionate, empathetic and understanding to the pain of this!! So thankful and appreciate them so so much, and the entire office, front desk ladies are super nice as well!! Thank you for bringing my smile back and my confidence ❤️

Negative experience: DO NOT HAVE YOUR DENTAL CARE DONE HERE !!!!!!! I had a deeply disappointing and distressing experience with this facility. Due to my Medicaid public aid, I am limited to certain dentists within the Detroit to Ann Arbor area. Over the past two years, I have undergone extensive treatment elsewhere without improvement, so I hoped this facility would offer a fresh start and a chance to rebuild trust in my healthcare providers. Unfortunately, that was not the case. From my very first visit, I encountered dismissive and unprofessional behavior. When I tried to thoroughly explain my medical history and emphasize my anxiety—stemming from previous malpractice incidents—I was met with indifference. The dentist showed no empathy, and his assistant’s rude attitude and constant eye-rolling made the atmosphere feel uncomfortable and unwelcoming, reminiscent of high school cliques rather than a professional healthcare setting. After the examination, I was informed I would need root canals followed by crowns. During the crown fitting process, despite reassurance that everything would be customized properly, Dr. Omar cemented a crown on the wrong tooth. While his assistant had initially fit the crowns without issue, the doctor appeared distracted during the procedure, carrying on conversations with staff and not paying full attention. The error caused me significant pain and led to an hour-long, invasive corrective procedure involving multiple X-rays—over 15—plus several follow-up visits just to fix the mistake. This level of negligence is unacceptable. Throughout this ordeal, I tried to give the dentist the benefit of the doubt, but my concerns grew, compounded by increasingly hostile behavior from front desk receptionists. Their rudeness and unprofessionalism, including dismissive and sarcastic remarks, only added to my frustration and anxiety. When I sought to speak with management about my ongoing pain and the dysfunctional online portal, the OPP manager, Kelly, responded with dismissive and disrespectful comments (Thats your Opinion), trivializing my concerns. Her behavior was unprofessional and rude, and when I mentioned escalating the matter to the state licensing board (LARA) due to these serious issues, the situation deteriorated further. Most distressingly, I showed up to an appointment only to find it had been canceled without notice, and I was then dismissed from the facility altogether. This dismissal felt retaliatory, a direct consequence of me advocating for my health and addressing unacceptable behaviors. The claim that “no one is above the OPP manager” is simply false. The regulatory authority of the State exists to hold providers accountable. Patients must be empowered to speak up without fear of being dismissed or ignored. If you are experiencing neglect, rudeness, or malpractice at this facility, speak up and advocate relentlessly for yourself — but be warned, this agency may dismiss you for doing so. Based on my experience, I strongly advise seeking care elsewhere. My trust was broken here, and unfortunately, the quality of care and professionalism are far worse than what I endured before. **update: Dr.Omar failed to properly clean a root canal. (Verified by an office in Ann Arbor). Which he sealed an infected nerve with a crown. Now , no other dentist wants to touch his work and I’m unable to get this nerve corrected appropriately. DO NOT GO HERE.

Fantastic experience: Very professional and friendly staff. This was my first visit, and I’ve already found my new dentist. Dr. Ayoub identified that I was grinding my teeth after asking a few questions and performing some tests. I’ve been suffering from migraines, and it turns out they were caused by the grinding. I’ve seen many dentists before, and he was the first to ever mention this. I can’t thank Dr. Ayoub and the entire staff enough. I truly found my new dentist!

Fantastic experience: My experience at New Era Dental was excellent. I want to especially commend Morgan and Mariah for going above and beyond in helping me with my crowns. The professionalism and initiative those two young ladies display is truly exceptional. Give these professionals a raise. They certainly deserve it.

Fantastic experience: Everyone was so friendly and charismatic! The doctor was so thorough and kind. He explained everything in great detail about What was needed. The assistants were very outgoing and they all had smiling faces with upbeat attitudes. The hygienist that came in for my new patient visit was so informative and explained what type of cleaning I needed and why. I’ve never had a place go into such detail and I’m so glad I was referred here! They all seem so friendly and knowledgeable and can’t wait for my next visit! I highly recommend coming to New Era Dental for care!

Negative experience: Stay away from this place. Literally every time we make an appointment, no matter how far in advance, they reschedule last minute. The staff have no issue with this being a major inconvenience for families who have to make childcare arrangements in advance. They tried to charge us over $100 at the last appointment for what was supposed to be completely covered. When we asked what the charge was for it was for a mouth cancer screening and over $30 of “take home” products that you weren’t allowed to refuse.

Negative experience: I had a sedation scheduled in may but because I was admitted into the hospital on a Sunday I couldn’t call so I called that Monday only to be told I was dropped as a patient. So I warn you don’t get admitted into the hospital cause you’ll get dropped. Very very unprofessional

Negative experience: Worst dental experience ever, went in to have a couple small cavities filled, now I’m in pain every day almost a month later, they claim they drilled too deep and now I’m going to have to drop a ton of cash for root canals to fix the damage they’ve done… now I have more procedures, more time off work, more insurance claims, and worst of all I will be left with dead teeth after root canals due to their incompetence. I believe they drill too deep on purpose to upsell. I’ve talked with several people that have the same experience from new era/ smile zone, if you value your teeth go anywhere but here

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love going here they listen to all your concerns and are so compassionate and you just feel comfortable. All the girls seem to work in sync together! Rebecca and Mariah are who I seen my first visit and they absolutely made me happy to come back for my next appointment and it only got better Rebecca, Morgan, Jackie and Bryanna went out of there way to help me when I was nervous about a procedure I was having done! This is by far one of the best dentist offices I have ever been to!!!

Negative experience: Attempted to schedule my daughter an appointment after receiving a text prompting me to do so. I call, no answer but I leave a message. Two days later I receive a text promoting me to fill out forms for an appointment. As I never scheduled a spinning because no one reached back out to me I was somewhat confused, however, I fill the forms out. Then I call the office to see when this anything they apparently scheduled is supposed to be. Placed on hold for over 10 minutes to confirm an appointment that I don’t even know if I’m available for as I had no say so I’m scheduling it. I hung up. I’m not taking my daughter to a dentist that can’t even get it right at reception.

Fantastic experience: Deceptive price quotes! So I had them do a crown, was told it was 100 percent covered by insurance. Fast forward 3 months - they want $691 for my half of the crown! THEY KNEW They were no longer 'in network' with my health coverage, and didn't tell me! So, a few months later, I was billed (AND I PAID) $691!!! Beware of this practice! Nail them down on out of pocket up front!

Fantastic experience: I broke a tooth this past weekend chewing on ice during a meal. Stupid, I know! A sharp edge was constantly jabbing my tongue. I was in agony! First thing Monday I went in to New Era Dental. I did NOT expect to be cared for right away. But I WAS! They got me right back in the chair and fixed me up with a new crown. The entire team was awesome and the fix was virtually painless! They have a team of superstars at New Era Dental! Highly recommended!

Positive experience: The staff at the front are amazing! I love the DENTAL side of things and have nothing but great experiences, including my cleanings and crowns. Can say enough about the DENTAL side. They’re great and organized. HOWEVER, the orthodontist side is extremely disorganized and not worth the money at all. Save your time and frustration and go to Laboes or somewhere with a consistent orthodontist. I paid for my son’s braces in full and not only did they have the orthodontist available one weekend a month, but they lost said orthodontist in July and told me a new one would start in September. I was given a run around week after week all the way into September, to where I had asked for my money back. The woman Kelly never reached out so I could take my son somewhere else. They now, as of this coming week (second week in October) have another orthodontist who I was told will only be in one day a month. Hopefully they stay long enough to finish my son’s braces and hopefully he has no issues since I was told they will not be in to fix problems, should they arrive. (assuming staff will). Happened last time as well, my son lost a bracket and the orthodontist I paid for couldn’t see him til his next month visit therefore staff removed the bracket and sent him on his way. That’s insane when your paying $5500 for a service that’s half attempted. Save your frustration and time, it’s not worth it, pay the extra $1200 and go to Laboes where you get in same day, if not next day for brace issues that are actually fixed by the orthodontist promptly. That’s the service you’re paying for and should have whenever needed. (Yes I have children at both to compare) Like I said great dental office side and couldn’t say enough great things about that but the orthodontist side is awful, disorganized, and the worst experience.

Negative experience: Leaving the office now, this is the 2nd time I had a confirmed appointment and was turned away when I got there because they didn't have me on the schedule. Ive taken time off of work twice for these appointments and am yet to have the work done, beyond frustrated.

Negative experience: did not submit proper/any information so my insurance claim was denied. when i called to ask why they put so little effort into my situation they made ridiculous excuses. these people cant be trusted to have your health prioritized. im in so much pain i cant eat. no such thing as proper healthcare in michigan.

Negative experience: They said I couldn’t come here anymore due to me calling and canceling one time. There new policy is for two no shows which was implemented February of this year (2025), but they are somehow also counting a no show I had last year in February of 2024 in order to not see me anymore. Which doesn’t seem fair. I was given no warning of this, but don’t feel like arguing. I don’t want to be seen by an office that runs things this way anyways. It’s one of the only dentist that takes my insurance near me and the front desk lady is very rude every time you call and ask for help. I asked to get my X-rays sent over and she was very rude about helping me. I am nice every time I call so it’s very uncalled for. I didn’t mind the dentist there, I love going to the dentist so I rarely miss appointments and try to call if I can’t make it. It’s unfortunate they’re letting the front desk lady run things this way and whoever is in charge needs to incorporate better patient care because no one wants to go to a dentist office where they’re being treated poorly by the front desk/phone. That’s the first impression.

Fantastic experience: My old dentist closed and was skeptical about trying a new place but this dental office took that fear away! Everyone from front desk staff, assistants and Doctor were all amazing! I couldn’t be happier with choosing this dental office as my new place! Doctor was very thorough with his exam and was patient with me on all the questions I had. The treatment planner went in depth with every procedure and coverage and setting appts. And the assistants I have met so far are an absolute joy to be around. They were very caring and down to earth. They made me feel very comfortable! I would give 10 stars if I could!

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to New Era Dental for a little bit now, and I truly enjoy my experiences! The office is small, but full of friendly staff! The procedure rooms are clean, and comfortable. I've been getting crowns, due to cracked teeth from old fillings, and so far I'm quite happy! I was recently there, and I received IV sedation for the first time, and everything went smoothly! I'll definitely use this feature for my future procedures. I felt safe and confident in my staff. Dr. Ayoub, Kaydyn and Jackie are truly amazing! I've always had bad anxiety about the dentist, but here I don't have to worry as much. I definitely recommend them to anyone, especially if you have dental anxiety, and want quality work done by people who know what they are doing! Also, Jada is one of the receptionists, and she's incredibly friendly and great at what she does!

Negative experience: Dismissed after two no-shows and then telling me I'm still a patient. Tomorrow is my children's appointment. I think it's ridiculous that you have to confirm an appointment on your phone but I've been there and they've turned me down cuz I didn't do an appointment on the phone. Ridiculous. Where's Dr.p at miss him !!!

Fantastic experience: I am so glad I went here. I have severe dental anxiety. I was scared to death of going to the dentist with an exposed nerve. The staff here was amazing! The doctor was so amazing. Every step was explained to me and they were so comforting and understanding. I was treated with compassion and love all the way around. The moment I walked in the door the ladies at the desk were sweet as can be. My appointment went so much better than I thought with my anxiety and even the lady in finance upon leaving was sweet as can be!

Fantastic experience: New Era Dental' s staff was friendly, attentive, professional & a pleasure to work with. The building was clean, welcoming & easy to get to (since I was coming from out of town). Staff was also flexible when it came to scheduling or rescheduling appointments. Negative experience: I've went to this location for very long time & the prior location with Dr Petraneaus. Also, we are cash paying customers due to employer canceling dental insurance several years back. We've also always scheduled our next appointments at time of current appointments to assure we get in. Well I had an 11am appointment in my phone calendar & they let me sit in office for 30 plus minutes after signing in before I finally went to desk to inquire about why they hadn't called my name & she said I didn't see your name I said it's right here on sign in. Young lady proceeds to tell me I don't have an appointment & I was last there in September of 2024. I replied ok that was 6 months ago & that I wouldn't have a time & day in my calendar unless I scheduled it then. Needless to she was rude about it so I walked out afterward & will never be back.

Fantastic experience: Staff was extremely polite and positive. All of my treatment plans were gone over thoroughly and I felt reassured that I will be taken care of fully and will not leave the office unsatisfied.

Negative experience: We booked an appointment at the only dentist that accepts our insurance telling them how extreme the pain is booked two months in advance telling them my boyfriends teeth are falling out it’s very urgent he could die from this we get a appointment two months out come the appointment approaching the 21 they call today to cancel it WE HAD AN APPOINTMENT MADE TWO MONTHS AGO FOR THEM TO CANCEL ON US FOR NO REASON we’re now gonna switch the insurance and find someone else how unprofessional do not go here terrible business they will cancel on the patients they do not care if your about to die from mouth cancer they do not care they do what’s convenient for them we waited all that time so happy that the day is coming for them to cancel when it’s about to be the day complete joke for them to do that

Bry and Kristi went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and well taken care of. Their professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail truly stood out. Fantastic experience: Ya know, I have always been one to keep up with my teeth. Every 6 months for cleanings, ortho work, the whole 9 yards. Prior to finding this office I was with Great Expressions who is NOT great.. that’s a story for another day.. When I found this office, they made me feel SOOOO comfortable, and did not judge me AT ALL. It is SOOO hard to find a dentist office that will talk to you like a person, and doesn’t take advantage of you, doesn’t judge you, doesn’t belittle you.. I now have to have almost 7K worth of work done to my teeth because of mistakes Great Expressions MISSED, but this office took the time to thoroughly give me an examination, plan out visits, help me with payment options and allow me to pick and choose the next action that needs to be executed. Today 2/10/25 - was my visit with MELANI - Melani was there with me from my first visit, second visit, and now this visit, and let me just say, she is amazing. She is gentle, she is kind, and very thorough with her work, and can only hope that she is my next hygienist in 6 months for my follow up cleaning. She makes me feel comfortable, and when I have questions, she teaches me or explains so that I can understand. All in all, this office is amazing, and I really wish I could give it more than 5 stars, not just for Dr Ayoub, Or Melani, but the front staff - Amanda & Jada as well. Thank you all for making us feel like family as opposed to patients.

Fantastic experience: I needed teeth pulled due to them being infected and painful they got me in for an exam on Tuesday and the next day they got the teeth pulled. The staff are super nice and accommodating i will be switching my primary dentist to them 100 stars out of 5

Fantastic experience: It was super busy so I waited for a few hours but to be fair they were low on staff the day I went in. The doctors are very caring and make sure your comfortable during your procedure. Once I got in the procedure room they worked fast and diligently. I would recommend this location.

Fantastic experience: I am a new patient and have had a wonderful experience. By far the most comprehensive dental exam I have ever had. They offer sedative options, which is perfect for me as I am not a good patient! Melanie the Dental Hygienist is amazing, as is Dr. Zhehata, and Jada at the front desk. You are in goods hands at Smile Zone. And an update: There is a dental tech in there named Rebecca and she is incredible. Really wants you to have a great experience and achieve a great result.

Fantastic experience: Although all the staff here a pretty great, there are three people in particular I would like to highlight in my 5Star review. Amanda, Melanie, and Dr. Ayoub. Dr. Moussa Ayoub has done a phenomenal job in restoring my teeth. I have a fear of getting work done and have had bad experiences in the past. He has patience for me every visit and makes sure it is pain free and done correctly. I appreciate him and his work so much. As for Ms. Melanie. Her beautiful smile and calm energy always helps ease my anxiety while getting a cleaning. She too gives me grace and patience while working on my teeth. I actually look forward to a dentist visit when I am her patient bc she always does such a wonderful job and my teeth feel fantastic afterwards. I truly appreciate her as well! Finally, Amanda is awesome! Since day one of going to this office she has been so sweet and helpful to my family and I. She does a great job of getting us the appointments we need and informing us of openings they have available so we can be seen sooner. This office runs so smooth bc of her hardwork! I’m grateful she is there! I am very grateful I found this dentist office. By far thee BEST that I’ve gone to in Monroe County. Thank you and God bless

It's never a super fun thing to go to the dentist, but these guys go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Five stars!

Fantastic experience: They take Medicaid. They are very nice. They work with you if you're afraid of the dentist and will let you wear headphones if the noise bothers you. They will try to save all of your teeth! I highly recommend them. Best experience I've had with a dentist in a long time.

Fantastic experience: Our dental hygienist was Melanie and she took care of myself and my 5 year old grandson and she was just so wonderful and patient and kind! She made it a great experience and it helped give such a positive experience for my grandson with the way she took care of him there during a dental cleaning!! Thank you Melanie
