Fantastic experience: This office is one of my favorite offices in Ames. First of all, when you walk in you are always greeted with a smile and friendly hello. The waiting area has a warm atmosphere. I always get to see the staff and Dr. Patten within 10 minutes. His dental assistants are always friendly and professional. I have been going to Dr. Patten for a very long time. He is always very knowledgeable and helpful. He is remarkable when it comes to my dental work. I have, and will continue to, highly recommend their dental services and procedures to family and friends.

Fantastic experience: I was brought back on the dot for my appointment and my cleaning was started right away. Dentist offices are notorious for having you sitting in the waiting area for a half hour with another half hour waiting for someone to see you once you’re in a chair, and I was pleasantly surprised with the punctuality. I planned for the worst, but got the best!

They are so personable and I always look forward to my next appointment. The hygienists there are very good at their job, thorough and friendly. And the best part is that they clean your teeth in way that doesn't leave your gums or teeth hurting afterward.

Fantastic experience: My visit to Ames Family Dental was amazing! I chipped a tooth and when I called I was able to get in the next day because of a cancellation and Dr. Patten fixed it right up. Super welcoming clinic and the staff are all so nice! They explain each thing they’re doing which I really appreciated. As a college student away from home who hasn’t ever called or gone to the dentist by herself, Ames Family Dental was easy to deal with and made the whole process way less stressful. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: This place is amazing! While my Aspen dental review was a well-deserved one star, Ames family dental is a six star! Dr. Patten is incredibly kind, thoughtful, holistic, and I can tell he genuinely cares about his patients. As someone who values empathy and understanding, I enjoyed his attentive and compassionate approach. I’ve had many firsts during my first visit today, he fixed my broken filling in 15 minutes, I didn’t bleed once, and I didn’t feel the needle from the local anesthetic at all. I really don’t expect any of those to actually happen all the time, but the fact that none of those happen is incredible. I went in and left without any physical or mental pain. I’m so flipping impressed. I can’t wait to come back!

Fantastic experience: For 7 years, since we moved to Ames, my girls and I tried to find a dentist to stick with, trying multiple offices. Meanwhile, my husband continued to go to Ames Family Dental for those years. I finally decided to follow his lead and try Ames Family Dental. The experience was smooth, easy and pleasant from beginning to end - from the office staff to Mikayla the hygienist, to Dr Patten himself. My teenagers also felt welcome, respected and attended to. We live in north Ames but it’s worth the drive. We’ve found our dentist.

Fantastic experience: I had a cavity taken care of here, a very deep in rough shape cavity…they were absolutely amazing from the minute I entered the office the staff are all warm and welcoming and that kind service continued throughout my whole appointment /visit. The cost of my appointment was 353.00 and I found that to be perfect for the work and time put into my appointment, thank you! My husband and I will definitely continue our dental care here.

Fantastic experience: Who had two crowns (done by a previous dentist) crack within the same week? I did! Who came to my rescue with quick, courteous and excellent service? Dr. Patten! I can't speak highly enough about his excellence in dentistry and with serving his clients! You will not be disappoited when visiting Dr. Patten and his office! ☝️

I was not a previous patient but they fit me in and reattached my tooth in a partial plate in record time. And they didn't charge me nearly as much as I expected to pay. I greatly recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: From the moment I walked in to Ames family dental I knew I had made the right choice for a new dental office. I’ve worked in dentistry for 7 years and the atmosphere in this office is amazing; I felt no signs of stress within the office, it seemed everyone worked really well together as a team to create a nice work flow. The time management was superb! Bella was the dental assistant who helped me today and she was so sweet! We had good conversation and she seemed to be so happy to work in the office she was in I could truly see her love and passion for dentistry it made me so happy. Dr.Nadeen was my provider for the day and I am so thankful for her! She’s extremely knowledgeable in what she’s talking about and gave me such good advice and recommendations to help with my pain from clenching and grinding. she listened to me and my concerns and checked all the boxes to make sure I had the answers I needed before I left the office. I’m so grateful that the office also has a membership plan for people without dental insurance. I just lost my dental insurance so I was really excited to see that this was an option. Thank you all for such a pleasant visit today(: I can’t wait to come back.

Fantastic experience: I found this place on good and already saw that it had good reviews nd mad it did not disappoint! Everyone was so incredibly nice! They were also very thorough and explained everything they were doing. I have not seen a dental facility like theirs before and I definitely felt taken care of and well informed. To top it all off it was the most painless cleaning I've ever had!

Negative experience: The receptionists didn't acknowledge me twice. The first appointment I ignored it. The second time I left only after they helped someone that came in after me right away. I suppose they treat a certain group of people better than others. I had a dental plan I paid beforehand but would rather let it expire without any further visits than be disrespected for no reason.

Fantastic experience: What an incredible experience. If you want to be treated with care, go to this dental office. I had an impacted tooth that ended up getting infected, started having an excruciating amount of pain, and set up a time to have it extracted. As the pain got worse, I called the office to see if they could get me in any sooner than my appointment, knowing that they would say no more than likely as they were booked up pretty full. After only a few hours I get a call from them to let me in THAT DAY! They saved me a world of pain, saved me time, and a lot more as this was effecting my work and personal life. They went out of their way to treat me with respect financially, and care through their treatment. As for the treatment itself, again, 5/5. I was falling asleep during the extraction because there was absolutely no strain or anything during the procedure. If you want a dental office that will be transparent about pricing, do their best to fit your time table, and give you excellent care; This is the place to go. All members of the staff I talked to were understanding, patient, and incredibly polite individuals. I'll be going back for future work, as I will be referring my family and friends as well. Highly highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: At my recent visits to Ames Family Dental Sara did a very complete exam with radiographs. Then she did a thorough dental cleaning. Excellent job! The next visit Dr. Patten and Traci placed 2 new restorations with great results and without pain. Amanda even worked me in early when the office had a cancellation. Very well run office!

Fantastic experience: It's a shame I only found this place as I was about to move out of Ames. I am someone who absolutely loathes the dentist, but when one of my fillings cracked, I had no choice but to come in. I hadn't been to the dentist in a few years and they did a thorough examination (gum level, cancer screen..the whole nine). Kelly did my regular cleaning as well as deep cleaning on both sides and she was better than any person that has cleaned my teeth. She was more gentle and more accurate and most of all she didn't berate and lecture me about how I need to clean my teeth better. My teeth have never felt better after the deep cleaning and my gums do not bleed at all during flossing of brushing anymore. Everyone's financial situation is different but they worked with my insurance and the final price was more than reasonable (I was expecting to pay much more). Everyone that works there is very friendly and I would recommend this dentist to anyone. Fantastic.

Fantastic experience: Talk about excellent client patient relationship! Ames family dental really nailed that! The doctors and staff are amazing! The minute I walked in, I was wowed by the interior design of the building. It was very up to date and very clean! The receptionist got up out of her chair to personally welcome me! (I am a new patient) I was honestly shocked by that because no one does that anymore. That was a great touch to start the visit! She then took me on a tour of the building which is new to me! (Also a great touch to the visit). The dental hygienist was so nice and friendly and made sure I was comfortable. They even have fancy new equipment! The doctor was so nice as well! All around an A++ visit. I will be recommending this place to anyone in the Ames area! P.S I even got a welcome to Ames family dental coffee mug as a present for being a new client!

Fantastic experience: Wow! What a great experience I had at Ames Family Dental. They were so kind and inviting! When I arrived I got a tour of the offices and a little gift! I’ve never been treated so well at a dentists appointment. My doctor knew what she was doing (I guess that’s super important) and she was super kind :) I’m not from around here (ISU student) and I knew finding a new dentist around here might’ve been a little tough but I’m glad I went with Ames Family Dental! I’ll be going back there when I need to see a dentist!

Fantastic experience: I have bounced around dentists throughout the years due to work. I would have to say Dr. Cahill is the best dentist I have ever had. Her chair side manor is top notch! I loved how close and fun her and her assistant were (I am pretty sure that Kylie is the assistance name). Any anxiety I had was quickly diminished. Would recommend dr. Cahill specifically to anyone searching for a new dental home where they wish to feel at ease.

When you don't have to go in outside of your routine visits but feel recognized and like a part of the family is the best type of dental experience you can get!
