Dental Care Associates- Hollidaysburg

Negative experience: The ad on the Internet said sedated dentistry, all they offered was nitrous oxide gas. No IV sedation as advertised.The dentist had eye makeup like a clown. I brought my own X-ray, received no cleaning and was charged $99.00.

Fantastic experience: Doctor and staff were great, made me feel appreciated and assured of all dental work to be done. Would highly recommend due to the professionalism they show.

Fantastic experience: Had my first visit yesterday at DCA and it was absolutely perfect. The reception desk staff along with the Hygienist and Dr. were outstanding!!! I’m very glad I scheduled an appointment with them.

Positive experience: Friendly staff. They're pretty efficient, not a lot of waiting around. They offer a cost reduction plan that is totally worth it if you don't have insurance, for $99 a year. It has literally saved me thousands of dollars

Negative experience: It’s very hard to get through to a human due to the automated system you have in place. It took 9 days to have someone look at this tooth that was causing me a severe amount of pain and sensitivity. Then when they did, I was thrown in with a dentist I’ve never even seen before, and Mark had to correct her original thoughts on it. The temporary filling didn’t hold, and the office you referred me to told me they tried 5 times to get the X-ray from you. I finally had to call myself to get it only to realize when I got there, that it wasn’t even of my mouth, it belonged to another patient…So I had to be charged an additional $200 for them to do another one which clearly showed a very different set of teeth. Not acceptable. Also the dentist was very confused about why they referred me for a root canal when all it needed was a buckle and filled. She said it was absolutely unnecessary and she could see why the original filling came out, because it was not bonded correctly. So after nearly 3 weeks of constant pain, she numbed me up filled the tooth and it’s perfect. I would like to say that Jersey and Mark are fantastic, but the rest of it, is not ok.

Fantastic experience: This was my first appointment here and I am THRILLED with how kind, compassionate, and professional. I’ve been through a few dentists in the past couple years because of poor bedside manner, but I felt heard and understood by my hygienist and dentist, today. Here’s to a great future of no longer having anxiety over seeing a dentist! I’m so glad my husband and his family recommended them to me. Update: I’ve had a second appointment with them for fillings and it was the best fillings appointment I’ve ever had. I’m beginning to realize that my old dentist man-handled me and never numbed my mouth enough. They were so understanding and patient with my anxiety and were incredibly gentle. I don’t feel nervous to go to the dentist anymore knowing I’ll be taken care of by the outstanding team here.

My big thing is pain, I dont like to feel pain at all during a dental experience and I've never once felt a thing while there working and very little if any the next day. I've been with them 6 plus yrs now and have no cause to go anywhere else.

Negative experience: Poor communication... got consultation and x ray done and then I was told i dont have insurance. When i got the insurance card to them the story changed to oh no you have insurance but its out of network. If you have told me this earlier I would have not done the consultation at your place and looked somewhere else.... intentinal mis leading !!

Fantastic experience: My appointment was for a crown. Dr. Holt explained everything, the need and the process. The price was outlined clearly prior to. I arrived and was seen promptly. I was greeted friendly. Through the entire process Dr. Holt and her assistant Allison were professional, friendly, kind and considerate. I felt no pain and the procedure didn't seem to take much time at all. I was relaxed throughout the entire procedure. Thank you Dr. Holt and Allison!

Fantastic experience: My experience was excellent. The staff was extremely friendly, they were even able to offer me a cleaning same day due to a cancellation. The dental assistant Alex was extremely knowledgeable and between him and Doctor Holt I left feeling confident and secure about the next steps in my dental plan. Excited to come back and get my dental health on track. Words I never thought I’d say “excited for the dentist ” Oh and they did an excellent job with the cleaning too! I’ve been looking for reason to smile all day .

Negative experience: I went in for crowns. After getting the permanent crowns in, I’ve had 2 crowns fall out every week (no exaggeration needed) since last December. Found a real dentist and now in need of dental implants because Dentist Holt had shaved so much of my real teeth down that the crowns won’t stay on. It has been emotionally devastating. I’m sharing my story to warn others before someone else ends up in a similar situation.

Fantastic experience: The dental assistant was very good with my daughter who has anxiety of the dentist . He talked to her sang he was being silly trying to keep her calm .the assistant was able to complete the cleaning while trying to keep her calm. It was great . I would give 5 stars if it weren't for the long wait. Thank you again.

Fantastic experience: Alex is by far the best dental hygienist I've ever had. There is no judgement, and such a welcoming vibe here. I am so happy to have found this dental office and a hygienist who truly cares.

Negative experience: I had additional charges that they said the insurance company paid less than they said. They also said that it would also cost over 700 dollars additional to make the dentures useable. One plus I did lose 10 pounds cause I couldn’t use them to eat and had to wait for sn appointment at K and C dentures. Just go there and save your time.

Negative experience: Aaliyah the lady at the front desk was very rude and disrespectful. I was nothing but nice just trying to figure out the insurance that I do have and she got nasty with me for no reason. People like her shouldn’t work in customer service. She is stuck up and I honestly was just confused trying to figure out my new insurance and she was inpatient and very rude. I figured it out and she then found my insurance but I told her I didn’t like her attitude and left because I deserve to be treated better. This made my experience there terrible and I will never return. I am making this review to let people know so she don’t make them feel stupid or treat them as poorly as she treated me.

Fantastic experience: Trying to call and speak to someone is impossible. The AI phone system needs replaced with an individual picking of the phone for customer service. Texting is not the answer. I know of several patients complaining of the same issue. Please fix.

Fantastic experience: Dental Care Associates Helped Me Do What I Thought I Couldn’t I have severe anxiety and agoraphobia, so going to the dentist is not “just a routine visit” for me. It means leaving my home, being touched, and feeling out of control—all things that are extremely difficult and triggering. Because of this, I had stopped going to the dentist altogether. My previous dental office made me so anxious that every time I made an appointment, I would work myself up so badly that I would get sick and cancel. Recently, I started getting cavities on the back of my front teeth and knew I couldn’t avoid it anymore. I went onto my insurance website, printed out a list of in-network dentists accepting new patients, and carefully read through the reviews. I narrowed it down to three offices, but Dental Care Associates in Hollidaysburg stood out—especially because all the dentists are women. I don’t consider myself a feminist or anything like that, but I tend to feel more comfortable with female doctors, and something about that just felt right. I’m not proud of this, but to be honest, I rescheduled my first appointment about four times before I finally got the courage to go. When I walked in, the first thing I noticed was that it didn’t smell like a typical dentist office—it just smelled normal and not clinical or overwhelming. My husband came with me for support. The receptionist greeted me warmly, with zero judgment about all my reschedules. She was kind, patient, and made me feel like I belonged there. I didn’t wait long before being called back. They took X-rays and were very gentle with me, even apologizing when one of the films nicked my gums a little. Then the dentist came in, and this is where everything really changed for me. She talked to me like a human being, not just a chart. She asked about my anxiety, listened to me, and even shared that she struggles with anxiety herself. She explained everything she was doing, told me how she could help me relax, and checked in with me often. I felt seen, heard, and respected—which is not something I’ve felt at a dentist in a very long time. At my second appointment, I had four fillings done on the back of my front teeth—and this time, I did something huge: I went by myself. For someone with agoraphobia, that’s no small thing. When I got there, the receptionist greeted me just as warmly as before, and they took me back quickly again. While we were waiting for the Novocain to kick in, one of the staff members looked at me and said, “Did you really come by yourself?” When I said yes, she smiled and said, “Alright, girl. You should be so proud of yourself.” That moment meant more to me than they probably realize. They didn’t just fix my teeth; they treated me like I was accomplishing something important—and for me, I truly was. Everyone at Dental Care Associates has been professional, kind, and genuinely encouraging. They work together like one big family, and they make you feel like you’re part of it. I’m seen quickly for my appointments, I rarely sit in the waiting room for long, and I really appreciate their text reminders before and on the day of my appointments—especially with anxiety and brain fog. If you have anxiety, trauma, agoraphobia, or you’ve had bad experiences with dentists in the past, I cannot recommend Dental Care Associates in Hollidaysburg enough. They gave me a place where I feel safe, respected, and cared for. For the first time in years, I actually feel hopeful about going to the dentist.

Fantastic experience: I can’t say enough about this dental office! They are absolutely amazing!!!!! So friendly, so willing and able to help and assist!!! While I’m not looking forward to some of the work I need done, I am looking forward to the plan that we are going to develope.

Negative experience: While I have only given them 2 stars, I want to start off by saying that the dentist and the hygienists were amazing and really helped me through my appointments. The business side of Dental Care Associates is horrible. I had to have work done last year and was told everything was covered yet received a bill at a later time which I paid assuming it was an honest mistake. I recently went back and the exact same thing happened. After the procedure and a few weeks later I received a bill for some "uncovered work". After their business hours I received several calls from their AI chat bot asking for me to just return their call, which I did and left voicemails 3X a week for 3 weeks with not calls returned. I finally was able to figure out what the balance was and I paid it yet still haven't received a call back from them explaining to me what the issue was. While I understand some things aren't covered by insurance and I don't mind paying for what I need, it was the fact that twice I was told things were covered and they weren't, then I cannot get ahold of anyone or receive a call back and can only speak to Clara - their chat bot. Horrible business practices so I will be finding a dentist that is more upfront on charges and where I can actually get my questions answered.

Fantastic experience: If you’re looking for an amazing, affordable, friendly dentist office, look no further! I’ve been going to this office for two years now. My children also see the orthodontist here. Dr. Holt is amazing. I have bad anxiety when it comes to dentists offices due to horrible past experiences. When Dr. Holt heard that she immediately asked if I was okay with being scheduled with her. I’m so glad she did because she does an amazing job. She came up with a treatment plan WITH me instead of FOR me; asks me frequently if I’m doing okay; and is always friendly and informative. One of her assistants, Rose, is also amazing and one of my favorite people to see when I go to the dentist. Mrs. Robin is also amazing. She has helped us several times with insurance companies and sat with us to determine payment plans for our kids braces. Dr. Valjev (sorry if I misspelled her name) is the orthodontist and she has been amazing with throughout the two years my teens have had braces.

Fantastic experience: I really like these Dentists and hygienist. They are caring and nice. Im not sure what insurance they take but either way im sure they can work with you. Dr. Roe and is very nice and Jersey is the best hygienist EVER. I got into today cause my filling came out a few days ago and they gave me several numbers of other Dr's. Who can do the procedure. The receptionist is so nice and funny ( I love her laugh )

Negative experience: Called Thursday and the machine said you were at lunch and to leave a message… called back at 3-330.. again left a message with no response.. sitting with a dental emergency and there was zero help. I’m extremely disappointed.

Fantastic experience: I had not been to the dentist over a period of time, being new to the area I found this place on Google with good reviews and they also had a membership and discount for those without active insurance. I was able to get in 2 days in a row for treatment seeing 2 different dental assistants + dentist. I would like to give a special shout out to Jersey who did my cleaning. She took her time with me explaining each step, continuously checked in with me, and helped me through my anxiety and pain with the cleaning.

For $99, I had x-rays, a very thorough cleaning by Mariah, and a brief exam by one of their dentists who also reviewed my x-rays. I appreciated Mariah's care and proficiency as a technician and will return.

Fantastic experience: I had a crown on a front upper tooth that fell off. I contacted dental care assoc and explained my problem. They were able to see me within 24 hrs. The staff was great; professional . Mark was very knowledgeable and caring. He took x-rays and determined that no infection was present and was able to cement my old crown back on to the tooth. I would highly recommend dental care associates for quality care.

Jersey, my hygienist was amazing at explaining everything and treated me with such kindness. I am very happy to have found such a wonderful place to my dental care.

Negative experience: Stay away from this corporate managed dental practice! Nothing but a money making machine. Said I needed a root canal and charged over $300.00 for a temporary filling (which was not covered by my insurance) until root canal could be scheduled. I sought a second opinion and learned that no root canal was necessary and ended up costing me only $20.77 co-pay with the other dentist!

Fantastic experience: Dr Holt & Renatta couldn't be more professional. Dr. Holt is kind, even humorous, coupled with a gentle and skillful hand. Blair County is fortunate to have Dr. Holt!

Fantastic experience: I chipped a front tooth and they got me in the next day. The staff is wonderful. Mark is great and has 20 years of reconstructing teeth. Roe was very friendly. Jersey is so nice and knowledgeable! And, of course, the dentists are great, as well .

But thanks to wonderful staff here I am able to go without panic attacks. They are wonderful at talking you through what they are doing so you can deal with things. Fantastic experience: I just switched to Dental Care Associates and after my first visit, I won't go anywhere else. To my surprise, I was told that I've been doing well with brushing and flossing, when my previous dentist said I had borderline gingivitis and had me pay for a terrible, overpriced, electric toothbrush.

Negative experience: Just a had a cleaning over a month ago and paid my copayment in cash, which I found out I paid over double because insurance covered more. Then went to next visit and they said I haven’t paid anything at all. So don’t pay in cash or keep ur receipts.

Fantastic experience: I was suffering with a toothache on a molar that had a crown which was applied by another dentist. After an examination, Dr Holt determined that the crown was too high. A simple procedure corrected it and relieved my pain. GREAT DENTIST
