Our comment from Best Dentists Club about Tooth Time Dentistry for Kids:
A Kid-Centric Environment Built on Trust and Patience
Tooth Time Dentistry for Kids has cultivated a reputation as a welcoming sanctuary for pediatric dental care, designed specifically to eliminate anxiety and foster positive dental habits from an early age. The clinic’s physical space is frequently praised by families for its playful and engaging atmosphere. From the moment patients walk in, the environment feels less like a medical office and more like a fun destination. The waiting area is equipped with engaging elements such as arcade games, a large interactive play structure resembling a boat or ship, and colorful decor that helps children relax before their appointments. This attention to detail in the office design is often highlighted as a key factor in helping nervous children feel at ease and turning what many perceive as a daunting experience into something they actually look forward to.
Specialized Care for Sensitivities and Special Needs
A standout feature of this practice is the exceptional adaptability of its staff toward children with unique needs. Parents consistently commend the team for their profound patience and empathy when treating children with autism, ADHD, and sensory processing sensitivities. The dental team is known for taking the time to explain every step, allowing children to explore the equipment, and going at the child’s own pace. Many reviews mention specific staff members who remember personal details about the patients, creating a sense of familiarity and safety. This personalized approach ensures that even children with high anxiety or fear of medical procedures feel secure and respected, making Tooth Time a preferred choice for families seeking inclusive and gentle care.
Comprehensive Pediatric Services and Family Convenience
Tooth Time offers a broad spectrum of dental services tailored to the growth and development of children, from routine cleanings and exams to restorative work and emergency care. The clinic is well-equipped to handle urgent situations, with numerous patients noting their ability to secure same-day or next-day appointments for dental emergencies such as toothaches or trauma. Furthermore, the practice is highly valued by parents for its logistical convenience. The staff is frequently praised for their ability to schedule multiple children from the same family during a single visit, saving parents significant time and reducing the stress of coordinating separate appointments. They also accept most major insurances and Medicaid, making quality dental care more accessible for families.
Experienced Leadership and Team Dedication
Over the years, the clinic has built a loyal following due to the consistent expertise and kindness of its dental professionals, including Dr. Belk, Dr. McWhorter, and Dr. Rusty, alongside a dedicated support staff. Patients often express gratitude for the dentists’ ability to build rapport quickly, using humor and reassurance to calm young patients. The office is noted for its transparency in explaining procedures and costs, and the team is recognized for going above and beyond to resolve scheduling or billing issues when they arise. This commitment to high-quality care, combined with a friendly and professional attitude, has resulted in long-term relationships with many families who trust Tooth Time with their children’s smiles for years.

Fantastic experience: The staff is so kind! I love taking my kids to Tooth Time!
Fantastic experience: Some of the kindess staff we've ever taken our kids to go see and are so much better with pur kids than anyone else; Dr belk is our kid's favorite dentist and ours, he treats them amazing and is extremely kind to them and had gotten them over their fear of dentist and I am so very thankful to him and the staff for that. Thank you guys for being the absolute best towards my kids and helping them get over their fear, we will be continuing to see Dr Belk and when we have more children they will also see him; you guys are amazing, thank you!
Fantastic experience: I love this defrost for my kids they are so kind and patient they take the time to explain anything that my kids ask as well
Fantastic experience: Amazing staff! I have two autistic daughters and they felt safe and comfortable using the whole appointment!!!
Fantastic experience: I left another pediatric Dentist after a horrific traumatic experience and found Dr. Belk and have never looked back! I came into the office asking them to be gentle because of a child with slight sensory issues and this office was AMAZING!!! So kind and informative to both me and my child. I recommend Tooth Time to anyone. Especially because I had an issue and they check with me EVERY TIME to make sure we are ok. Love this place! ❤️
Fantastic experience: I like the service and personable staff. They do a good job getting in and out with great results
Negative experience: We initially loved this place. However it seems that they have changed the ownership around, changed some of their business practices on scheduling and have made it more challenging to come in. When you go to make an appointment they set one out for 6 months from the date. Then tell you that you can call and change the date. That’s fine unless of course you have a job or you have a day you run your kids to appointments. That may work for a stay at home mother. But working professionals who want to take care of their children not really. They also let go of a few of their dental assistants that were phenomenal. We finally just scheduled somewhere else because the business no longer accommodates our family’s needs.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience left you feeling frustrated.
Our goal is always to make scheduling as convenient as possible for families, and we understand that coordinating appointments around work and school schedules can sometimes be challenging. Our team works hard to offer appointment options and accommodate requests whenever we can.
My name is Bailey, and I’m the Office Manager at Tooth Time Dentistry. I would truly appreciate the opportunity to connect with you directly and personally help find an appointment time that better fits your family’s schedule.
I also want to share that we deeply value our team, including our dental assistants, and we are grateful for the consistency and dedication they bring to caring for our patients each day.
Because we cannot discuss specific details about patient accounts in a public forum, I would welcome the chance to speak with you privately to better understand your concerns and see how we can help. Please feel free to contact our office and ask for Bailey, and I would be happy to assist you.
We truly appreciate the families who trust us with their children’s dental care and are always working to provide the best experience possible.

Fantastic experience: I couldn't love this place more! We've been going here for almost 2 years. Both dentists have been great with my toddler and baby. The kids are always so excited to come back as the assistants are amazing with them! They're very friendly and patient with the kids, letting them explore the rooms and the equipment to help them feel comfortable and secure with their surroundings. Heidi is usually the assistant that is always helping us. Kenzi also helped us today and she was so friendly and clear with what I needed to know and do with aftercare.
Fantastic experience: Love Tooth Time! Everyone is so kind and they are amazing with kids! My daughter loves going and is always excited!
Fantastic experience: We always have a positive experience at tooth time. It’s such a fun office and the staff is always so friendly! My granddaughter is 8 and we’ve been going to tooth time since her first dentist appointment when she turned two. We highly recommend Tooth Time Dentistry for kids!
Fantastic experience: Tooth Time employees were absolutely amazing with my son. It was his very first time experience at the dentist. They showed him how all the equipment worked and even let my son use them. They talked him through everything and they were very calm with him. It was the best experience ever and we can't wait to take him back.
Fantastic experience: Everyone was so kind and made my nervous kids feel very comfortable! They did a great job and my kids went home feeling good about the dentist!
Fantastic experience: They did such a good job with our kids, they’re 6 and under. One is totally chill, one hates the dentist, they always accommodate and help our kids have the best experience. Specifically Jenna and Kenzi are amazing!
Fantastic experience: Great experience. They were very prompt with our appointment. Got us in and out smoothly. The communication with my son, talking him through each step, was a very nice boost of comfort for him.
Fantastic experience: This place is amazing! This was the 1st time my grandkids had been to the dentist and they weren't stressed or afraid at all. They told the kids everything that they were going to do and explained it to them. They actually had a lot of fun and didn't want to leave. The staff was so friendly and they dressed up so cute and the whole office was decorated so cute that I know it eased them as soon as we walked in. I would definitely recommend this dentist office to anyone who has young children .
Fantastic experience: They do an amazing job! The doctor is so jive and they get you in and out quick. In the lobby there is play stuff for the kids to be entertained

Fantastic experience: These ladies are always awesome. My kids love it here. They always have such good attitudes.
Positive experience: They do an awesome job! Heidi has been there since we’ve started going there, for the past 5 years. She makes the kids feel that they need to take care of their teeth and friendly on their level. The play area is fun for them as well!
Fantastic experience: My kids love coming here. They think it’s so cool that their is a jeep crashing into their dentist’s office. All the kids in our community runs around in their no cavity shirts. Dr Belk is great with kids.
Fantastic experience: I’ve had a great experience at Tooth Time Dentistry, and I highly recommend them, especially for families. I bring my child here, and Alex, one of their dental assistants and hygienists, has been exceptional. She is incredibly knowledgeable in her role and has a fantastic ability to connect with children, making each visit easier for them. Alex is organized, detail-oriented, and always provides top-notch care. The dentists are also wonderful, and the entire team creates a welcoming environment. While the practice has seen some changes in staffing over the years, Alex has remained a constant, and her professionalism really sets this place apart. Between the expertise of the dentists and Alex, Tooth Time Dentistry is a truly great choice for families.
Fantastic experience: My kids love coming and look forward to seeing Dr Belk each time! It’s a fun environment and I love that they actually like going to the dentist!
Negative experience: I took my daughter there today. We were concerned if our daughter had tooth decay or cavities because of some discoloration. We paid $132 (most of it for fluoride) that was applied in her front teeth in some very careless way, the dentist barely looked at her teeth, seemed in a rush, and looked at his watch most of the time while my wife was trying to let him know of her concerns. It was a 3-4 min visit at most. We felt like an inconvenience to the dr who clearly just wanted to be done.
Negative experience: We thought we would have a good experience with this dentist but from the start it wasnt. Was really rough with my son and ending up breaking a permanent molar of his. He is now an adult and still has problems with that tooth. I highly recommend driving to Idaho falls for much better & professional dentistry. I recommend DR. Kidman at Creekside dental. Comfortable gentle care for your child and any patient they see with fair prices!

Fantastic experience: Dr. W and his Dental assistants are fantastic! My kids enjoy coming to their regular cleanings which is unusual for kids to be excited about the dentist. We have been going for 5 years now and we dont plan on going anywhere else.
Thank you so much for your review, we appreciate that you keep coming back to us, and I apologize for my front staff not resolving or helping your resolve the issue. Please if you have more questions or concerns give us a call at 2083565439. Thank you for your feedback it is much appreciated.
Positive experience: Was just on the phone trying to get in touch with someone at tooth time for a good 30 minutes. I had the same experience about a week ago trying to get in touch with someone. My son needs an appointment rescheduled because he has a cavity and I literally can't get my call answered. Also not impressed with the manager (I think). She always seems like she's trying to rush everyone along and she has been pretty impatient with my son who struggles. Other than that we've had good experiences there. I wish they would turn up the TV just a bit instead of it being on silent. It's hard to keep my kids busy during long wait times and even just a bit of volume would help.
We take your feedback seriously. Please reach out to us at
208-3565439, We are more than happy to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have. Thank you for.
Fantastic experience: My kids love coming to Tooth Time, front staff and back staff are super kind and friendly. They make you feel right at home. Dr McWhorter has always treated us with kindness and care, the hygienists and Dr are super informative and let you know exactly what your kids need. Thank you for always giving us a great experience. Can’t wait to bring my kids back. :)
Negative experience: If I could give 0 stars I would. I am writing this review in hopes to save other parents from the same experience I just went through. My daughter just turned three. She got her first tooth at 11 months. I called Tooth Time, and was told to bring her in 6 months after receiving her first tooth. Which I did, and continued to go every six months. The staff was always great to me, but the Dr always seemed in a rush and brushed off the questions I had. (Build up on teeth, and a popping jaw) I didn’t know what the procedure were, as I was a first time mom not ever taking my child to the dentist. The doctor just moved her, lips and very aggressively brushed fluoride on every visit. My daughter screamed every time we were there, he wasn’t considerate of her being so little and seemed as we were just a dollar sign. This November was my little girls new check up. When I told her we were going to go to the dentist, she became hysterical and so I canceled the appointment. I took her to my dentist, and he could visibly see at least two cavities. He referred us to an Idaho falls dentist. After great care X-rays, and visiting with the dentist…..my little girl had over 10 cavities. I am no dentist, but I know they don’t just grow over night. My little girl was put under this last Thursday(12/21) and ended up needing over three hours of dental work. Some of which two of her cavities were down to the nerve. I am so beyond frustrated with this office and Dr.Mcwhorter. My daughter never received any X-rays here. Only a quick brush. After her procedure this last week, her mouth was SOOO swollen, and there was so much work I feel like could have been prevented if proper care was taken. I as an adult couldn’t handle the amount of work my three year old just had to go through. NOT to mention the thousand of dollars it cost us to fix here teeth after all the crowns she received. If caught earlier on, could have easily been filled. I was told that due to colors/advancement of the cavities, they had been developing anywhere from 6 months to 1 1/2 years. I can not stress enough to NOT take your child here.
Fantastic experience: Had a particularly rough day and wasn’t in the best mood but was still met with loads of kindness from both the front desk and the staff. Which is a super trait as a collective office to have. They worked well with my son who struggles with oral sensitivities, and we’re so kind to my daughter who was just happy to be there. The staff definitely makes the experience so inviting.
Thank you so much for your kind words, means a lot to us. We were super excited to see you guys. Thank you for being such awesome Patients :)
Fantastic experience: Wish I could give 10 stars!!!!! My twins had a blast in their little play area. This was their first dentist visit. The receptionists were so helpful and sweet. From the get-go Rey M. And Alex T. made my girls feel so comfortable and excited to be at the dentist.
Negative experience: One of my kiddos had a cavity and they decided to just drill into their tooth without any numbing or anything to help. Completely traumatized my kiddo because of how much it hurt. And they had horrible bedside manner during it. Wouldn't stop and just kept drilling through my kiddos tears and asking them to stop. Would not recommend going here ever, and immediately found a new dentist after that appointment. Much better experience somewhere else. Honestly it's doctors like this that shouldn't be in practice, and should have their license removed. Especially as a pediatric dentist, they should be taking all the steps and precautions to make sure these young kids have the best experience they can.
Fantastic experience: We love the staff at Tooth Time! They get us in and out for cleanings in record time, which is much appreciated. One of our sons has special needs and they do everything they can to accommodate those needs and make him feel comfortable.
Fantastic experience: I have been able to bring my children for the last 11 years to Dr. McWhorter. He and his staff go above and beyond to care for my boys. I highly recommend this business and especially Dr. McWhorter. He cares about his patients and is soo patient and helpful with children. My boys love going to the Dentist and I know that has everything to do with the employees and atmosphere of Tooth Time Dentistry. Thank you for taking such great care of our family.
Negative experience: I am writing this review to express my extreme disappointment and frustration with the appalling experience my child and I had at Tooth Time Dentistry. From the moment we stepped foot into the clinic, something felt off about the place, and sadly, our suspicions were confirmed throughout our visit. Firstly, the employees at Tooth Time Dentistry were robotic and short in their interactions. Their lack of warmth and empathy was immediately noticeable, which is particularly concerning when dealing with young children who are in pain and need reassurance. We were led to the exam room without any genuine care or consideration. The dentist, whose name I don't know, showed zero interest in building rapport with us or addressing our concerns. He rushed through the examination without making eye contact, giving off an uninterested and agitated demeanor. He briefly informed me that my child had multiple cavities and that treatment would require a hospital visit. It was clear that his primary focus was on getting the work done, rather than providing proper care and addressing our anxieties. After the exam, we were quickly ushered into the scheduling room, where they were more interested in discussing finances than my child's excruciating pain. They nonchalantly informed us that the earliest appointment available was in two months, as if it were a trivial matter. Their lack of urgency and disregard for my child's suffering were truly disheartening. The most disconcerting part of our experience was when I called later that day, desperate for help as my son was screaming in agony. I pleaded with the staff, explaining the severity of his pain, but I was met with indifference and dismissal. They callously suggested antibiotics as the only solution, showing a complete lack of heart and sympathy for a child in distress. Tooth Time Dentistry has demonstrated a complete lack of professionalism, compassion, and patient care. I cannot emphasize enough how terrible this experience has been for my child and me. Their focus on finances over alleviating pain and their disregard for the emotional well-being of their patients is deeply troubling. I strongly advise against seeking dental care at Tooth Time Dentistry. It is imperative to find a dental practice that values patients' well-being and provides the care and compassion they deserve
Negative experience: We were referred here by our pediatrician to look at my sons possible tongue tie. As first time parents who didn’t know anything about this, we were accepting and trusting of what a doctor would say. The dentist looked in his mouth for 5 seconds before “diagnosing” what he called a severe lip tie and that he would absolutely need to get it clipped. The hygienist told us about the procedure and that they would pin down my 2 month old with a blanket thing, and we were not allowed in the room with him. They said it would not be painful in anyway for him? I was hesitant, and took my son to a pediatric dentist in Idaho falls and she was MUCH better. She even suggested he not get the procedure because it was not bad and there was no guarantee the procedure would help the problem. The dentist here just seems to be about the money and how quickly he can “diagnose” to get you to come back for treatment.
Negative experience: I really like the staff and the office. They have great bedside manner and the dental assistants are always great. But today I left feeling really unsettled after we went in to fill a couple cavities for my 4 year old. They were supposedly surface deep and would be a quick easy fix and didn’t need numbing or nitrous (I asked beforehand and the assistant said it wasn’t necessary.) They did the first tooth and it was quick and easy, but on the second tooth she immediately panicked and became hysterical. She has never had an issue with the dentist and likes coming and she has been numerous times, so that was abnormal. She told me it hurt bad and I could tell she was being truthful that it really did. The doctor assured me that it didn’t hurt her, and then proceeded to tell the assistant to reschedule the other work she needs and talk to me about “restraints” and that the upper tooth that “didn’t hurt” was deeper than they thought it would be. She proceeded to explain to me that the doctor wouldn’t work on her again without using a huggie blanket which is like a large swaddle to pin her down, and that PARENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN TNE ROOM. I asked if I could just hold down her arms and legs and she said it’s their policy that I’d have to stay in the lobby. I thought about it for the rest of the day and asked opinions from family and every response I got was absolutely without a doubt NO. How traumatizing, strap her down, no numbing (but still, even with numbing not okay) and I’m not allowed to be there when she cries for help out of horror. I completely understand needing to pin down arms and legs for the safety of patients but i feel especially uncomfortable with the fact that the cavity was bigger than he thought it would be, he proceeded to do it, and tell me it didn’t hurt her after she cried for me and said it did hurt her. She’s a tough kid and I know when something is wrong or not. This was an off-putting experience enough that we are going to find a new office for our kids. Like I said, I really like Dr. Mcwhorter and the staff from previous visits but I strongly disliked this experience.
Fantastic experience: We have been going to tooth time for almost 3 years. We started going to tooth time when my oldest was 5 at the time there and he wasn’t scared at all. The dental hygienist was so awesome and showed him everything she was doing on him. She let him feel the tooth brush on his finger and let him pick out his toothpaste flavor. After he was done they did my 2 year old daughters teeth cleaning and they were so awesome with my diva daughter. She got to wear sunglasses and pick a prize at the end of the appointment. I highly recommend them. We have gone to the same dentist for years and moving here we needed a new one and we loved it and now we have been going for the past 3 years and love them!
Fantastic experience: Tooth time has always been super professional, kind and caring. The front desk is always super friendly and understanding. The dental assistants are super kind and always had great communication. Dr McWhorter Is very attentive and always lets me know what needs to be done and how my kids are doing with their dental hygiene. My kids love coming to ToothTime!!! Such a friendly and kind environment. The manager has always been super nice and always gives me an estimate on my insurance what will and won’t cover and I’m more then happy about that. I’m glad my kids are going to tooth time! We love it there!!!
Negative experience: The manager claims she can’t get a pre-authorization of services from insurance; only an estimate based on a generic insurance plan. This is a lie as I’ve received many pre-authorizations from other dentists. We went to another dentist after we had to pay double the amount we were quoted, and were informed that half the work we were told was done, was not actually done. When I brought this up to the manager she was rude, lied again, told me I’m just a bitter person, and hung up on me. The front desk ladies have never been friendly and the manager doesn’t know what she’s doing. Save yourself some money and just go to a different dentist.
Fantastic experience: We LOVE Tooth Time! Dr. McWhorter is so kind and gets right down to business. My kids love the staff. We are always comfortable and taken care of.
Fantastic experience: Tooth Time made an error and I posted a review explaining how they had inconvenienced us. Within a day or two the issue was resolved and my son was able to have his procedure. Very satisfied that they admitted their error and made things right.
Fantastic experience: The best kids dentist in Rexburg! The workers are all so nice and the place is fun and designed for kids to feel relaxed and comfortable. I love Tooth Time! There's no where else I'd take my kids.
Fantastic experience: I love taking my kids here. The fun waiting room, friendly staff. They listen and try to accommodate to the children. They listen and take notes of the tips and tricks that I as a parent have to help my kids feel safe. (And they take note for next time!!!) they are amazing at helping the kids feel comfortable and safe. So important especially with a kid who is a sensory avoider and doesn’t like to try things. A+ for this dentist practice and the team that works there. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: My son has autism, as well as extreme anxiety when it comes to doctors and dentists. The staff at Tooth Time are always so understanding, and do everything in their power to make the experience as good as possible for my son and I. They're so patient comment even when he's having a meltdown, and they're willing to do whatever they need to to help him have a good experience.
Negative experience: This was my first time going to the dentist with my 2 year old. Everything seemed very rushed for a dentist office that caters to children. It was only her second time being there, and she wasn't used to sitting in the chair yet. I had my 8 month old in my lap and the dentist barely looked at me as he asked if my 2 yo wanted to sit in my lap or on the chair. He didn't wait for her to respond and suggested that "mom" move to the small chair to hold her in my lap. A bit inconsiderate. She ended up climbing onto the chair on her own and the dentist looked in her mouth for about ten seconds and said we should come back in six months. That's it. Those who led us around (not sure anyone's name because no one gave introductions) did not wait for a dilly-dallying 2 year old to follow them. They probably created some of the stress that led to her meltdown after the appointment. No help was offered to help get her out the door as she screamed on the floor after I tried to pick her up. I know that I am her mother. It just would've been nice to have some kind of support.
Negative experience: My wife took my children in and long story short they were so unhelpful my wife and kids were literally in tears by the time they left. They sat in the parking lot then called me. I came to the front office and when I walked in the front office just stared, “sorry we can’t help you”. I guess that’s a great way to welcome someone who has never been in your building….
Here at Tooth Time we try to give the very best service we can. We are a Pediatric office, the needs of your child were out of our ability. We hope the product we gave you offered some relief for your child. We also hope you were able to find a General dentist that could help you with your childes needs.
Negative experience: This places billing is a joke the dentist is very rude .. he told me my daughter needed three caps on her teeth .. I told him I was going to get a second opinion that really upset him and when I did get second opinion I found out that she doesn't even need any caps just a filling. He is out for money and that is all. They just want to do the most expensive thing even if it's a your child expense.
Fantastic experience: My kids love this place! They ask when their next dental appt is. Scheduling is super easy, staff are great with kids, kind and professional. Dr. McWhorter is an excellent dentist. His procedures are also very fast, which keeps my kids' anxiety to a minimum. Wish I could go here...
Fantastic experience: Dr. Rusty is so kind and smart! My toddler absolutely loves going to the dentist due to his care, staff and extremely fun atmosphere. This is even after having to fill some cavities! Highly recommend!!
Fantastic experience: My little guy who is 2 LOVES tooth time !! The entire staff is the most friendly and he can trust them ! As a 2 year old he likes things to be fun and interactive and the office is so good with that ! They have fun prizes for after your visit, a tv to watch while you wait or are getting work done and they are fast an efficient ! I wouldn’t choose anywhere else for my son to go for dental care !
Fantastic experience: Toothtime Dentistry is absolutely amazing with my children. They are not afraid of the dentist. They enjoy going to get their teeth cleaned. My daughter just had teeth extracted today and the staff was wonderful at calming her without minimizing her concerns. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a pediatric dentist.
Fantastic experience: I have a special needs son, he’s almost 13 and over the last couple of years they have slowly gained his trust by being kind, patient and gentle with him. He likes to play the arcade games- that’s his favorite part, and it helps me get him in the building! (bribes work) huge success today happened and cam got all 4 X-rays taken, no cavities! The assistant that worked with him did wonderful and I know that because of this office cam will only progress with each 6 month check up- my kids will always go here until they kick them out for age! Thank you Dr McWhorter and staff ♥️
Fantastic experience: Extremely pleased! We will be back, my daughter loved Rebecca and it was great to be in such a fun and positive atmosphere. Thank you for the positive encouragement my munchkin received today.
